👏🏻 stop calling Goncharov bury your gays 👏🏻 it's not bury your gays if your characters aren't canonically queer 👏🏻 it's not bury your gays if not all the gay characters (who aren't canonically gay in the first place, i remind you) die  👏🏻 it's not bury your gays if the (not) gay characters don't die to advance the plot of the straight characters 👏🏻 stop misusing the term to further your salty tumblrite agenda 👏🏻

I think a lot of people are missing the tragedy of ice pick joe. he's a tortured man that is literally defined by his murderous occupation. the ongoing motif of the clock makes his tragedy even more powerful; it's only a matter of time before his past actions catch up to him

thinking about the wicker man references in ‘mr king’ as always…. there’s something unique about the way the schoolchildren sing john barleycorn + the good people of summerisle sing sumer is icumen in. both songs have been recorded in various ways by different artists— solemn, cheery, single-vocal, choral— but in these two cases there’s something unique about the way they’re sung. communal, jangly and loud, frightening yet undeniably joyous….. songs about harvesttime taken to illustrate the ecstasy of sacrifice, of cutting down more than wheat, and making a creature far larger than a cuckoo sing. sung wild-eyed by a community of triumphant and unstoppable masked figures, who finally lay their hands upon their mark— singing not just to express pagan joy, but to inform the man bound for sacrifice that he never stood a chance
