We have space left in our last summer camp of the year 🤩🥺❤️ this summer has been incredible, epic, lit, GOAT and all the other great things!!! Kids and teens have come together, learned from each other and created some amazing art!!!! But most importantly they connected. They connected with their creative process, in art, life, friendships. They connected with each other and their selves. They learned that art can be hard work! But they also leaned that hard work can be fun 😄 #funisproductive I know some schools are still out for a bit so we have one last camp for anyone needing some #processart in their life. We did it!!!!! We tackled the #papiermache project 🙌🏽😜🤩🤪 [SWIPE] Masks are amazing to do bc we can get pretty deep discussing #archetypes and they get it!!! I start by showing masks from all over the world. Then we talk about innate creativity and what we can pull from our roots or environment to make our masks from OUR OWN Culture. Some kids don’t know what their culture is… so I ask, “what’s in your room? Pull from your surroundings just like the ancients did years ago. Masks resembled animals and nature and yours should resemble what’s around you.” Left to their own interpretations, this is what they created!!! Yesterday’s Oozers totally got a bonus with an impromptu field trip to @nickleonoff (only 2 doors down!!) where they were so gracious w/ their time as they walked us through the #glassblowing process. This sort of exposure to the professional arts is life changing. Our older Oozers learn to let loose like the littles. The challenge here was to layer and cover up things they like, in the name of the composition! Use words to break up and unify the piece.
