Chicago Fire Round Table S5 - Take a Knee
Hi everyone and welcome to the latest edition of the Chicago Fire Round Table! This past week’s episode, Take a Knee, was a solid episode overall and definitely brought out all sorts of emotions. I have a smaller panel than normal this week (its that time of year when everyone gets crazy busy) but there’s still a fun discussion here for you so sit back and grab a cold drink. =)
Before we get started though, have you all seen this Dawsey video yet?! OMG, it might be my favorite one ever. IT’S SO GOOD. <3
youtube
1st Responder Award: Big congrats and throw up the confetti for @CurlyBuckeye because she won this week’s 1st Responder Award! =)
Tumblr media
PSA: Please remember that none of the pictures, videos, or GIFs used in this blog (aside from the 1st Responder Award) were made by me but by other amazing people who share their talents with us every week. Apparently I’m still having the problem of some GIFs not being active by the time I post the blog so hopefully they all work this week! Please let me know if they don’t so I can try to figure out the problem during this (annoying) show hiatus. Thanks! =)
DISCUSSION
Q1. Casey got involved in helping a family get their daughter out of a scary drug situation. Did you agree with how he handled everything?
CurlyBuckeye: Yes, I did agree with how he handled it. He was extremely concerned about the child and needed to know what was going on with him. He didn't do anything illegal. It was very gutsy to confront the drug dealer, but it was the only way to get to the girl. 51 had his back! Tonichelleak: Overall, it seems to have worked out well. Hopefully the girl accepts the help given to her. Drug addiction makes things a billion times tougher on EVERYONE. As far as how Casey handled it - well...he's lucky he didn't get a machete to the face! Yikes! Texterlover: I do think Casey handled everything right. He went to the police and to his chief when things were happening instead of just doing things by himself. He had help instead of doing it alone. I do have one complaint though lol Casey always has to be the hero, ha! No matter how dangerous it is lol I love him for that but also hate him because I would hate if he got hurt. Nikita_Citizen: I was afraid something might happen to him because when isn't he caught in a dangerous situation? But he took control of the situation, reunited a family, and I really loved it! I'm seriously hoping this won't backfire because that guy is in the wind and he might want to get revenge. Kwanfan1212: It scared me a little bit how passionate he got about finding out what was going on but once I found out it was related to a kid, I knew he was going to do whatever he could to help out. Casey has always had a passion to help kids and ever since Louie left, I think that passion has been more prevalent. I don’t know if he could have handled it any better than he did and I love how creative he got to get into that crack house. Glad nothing happened to any of them and I hope it stays that way!
Tumblr media
Q2. Severide got a close-up look at the disaster that is his father’s current state. Do you still worry that Sev is heading down that same path? Did you agree with Anna’s decision to leave the dinner?
CurlyBuckeye: No, I don't think Severide is heading down his father's path. Mostly because he sees the unhappiness in his father's life and doesn't want his life to be like that. I didn't agree with Anna leaving the dinner. Didn't make much sense. Kelly told her his Dad was a mess so I'm guessing there's something else going on with her. Tonichelleak: I missed something in why Anna suddenly freaked and left. I was late getting in on the episode by like five minutes - did something happen earlier that started this whole issue? I'm freaking pissed that they're writing them this way. I normally am not a Severide storyline fan, but I really, really, REALLY like Anna and I'm so confused as to what's going on right now. LOL Texterlover: No I may not be the biggest fan of Anna but I have to say that her and Kelly fit somehow so seeing her leave like that was a little upsetting especially because we, along with Kelly, don't know what sparked it. Nikita_Citizen: No. I think he really wants to settle down and he's made that decision since he donated bone marrow and Dawsey got married. I didn't like how she left the restaurant, it really hurt Severide and he certainly didn't deserve that. He did everything to make her feel welcome. I'm sure there's a reason but what Anna did was awful. Kwanfan1212: I think Sev has been sufficiently scared by his father’s life enough to not make the same mistakes but I do worry about him sometimes just because life hasn’t always made things easy for him. I have no idea why Anna left the dinner so suddenly but I worry that her cancer has come back and she’s scared to tell that to Kelly. =(
Tumblr media
Q3. Herrmann had a rough decision to make regarding his son, Lee Henry, and some trouble he got into at school. What did you think of the way Herrmann handled things?
CurlyBuckeye: Herrmann is too funny...we all know he gets way too emotional and irrational but taking his son to see veterans and say the Pledge was an awesome way to handle it. Tonichelleak: His kid needed a boot to his butt. I was honestly shocked that the writers didn't make the kid "right" and have Herrmann learn some stupid "free speech" lesson (which he kind of did but only because the vice principal was off his nut). Texterlover: I think Hermann bringing Mouch, Chief and Lee Henry to the veteran’s center was a great touch. It showed Lee Henry why he has his freedoms and just how much people have fought and continue to fight for them. Nikita_Citizen: He handled it brilliantly. Well, not all the time. It was really funny to see him in that situation. In the end, he taught his son a beautiful lesson and it was amazing. Kwanfan1212: Herrmann is a national treasure and I love what he did for Lee Henry. Sometimes you just need to be reminded of what’s really important.
Tumblr media
Q4. Gabby and Sylvie had a trainee for a shift and things did not go well on one of their calls. Were you surprised at how that story turned out? What would you have done if you were in their situation with the trainee?
CurlyBuckeye: It was a bit surprising. Didn't see them covering for him but it made total sense they would since they've been in situations just like it. I'd like to think I would've covered for him too. Tonichelleak: I'd have left the trainee to hang. Haha. The girls just need to take their punishment. Which I'm sure Dawson won't but, oh well. *yay drama* Texterlover: I actually really liked the trainee and really liked how the whole ambo stuck together. However, telling the truth would've been less complicated for everyone. Also, if he couldn't listen then, he could've not listened when something else important happens in the field. Nikita_Citizen: I was definitely expecting the trainee to make a mistake but not the rest. That payback from Chief Hatcher was priceless! I think I would have done the same thing. He deserved a second chance. Kwanfan1212: I was happy to see them handle the trainee so well (they really were watching out for him) but his actions on the call shocked me as did the re-training thing at the end. I think that’s gonna be hilarious to see how each of the ladies handles that in the next episode. Gabby’s right though...she totally would have done the same thing as the trainee, LOL ;)
Tumblr media
Q5. We’ve been seeing more and more scenes between characters who don’t always get to interact (i.e. Stella and Casey tonight). Is this something you want to see more of between everyone going forward?
CurlyBuckeye: Yes, I think it's really interesting to see different characters interacting and forming deeper bonds. I really like the Stella/Casey friendship. Tonichelleak: I'm not a big Stella fan, but I do like when the "supporting cast" gets decent story. I just want more from the comic relief crew. Texterlover: I love seeing all the characters interact especially ones that don't usually so I'm all for it. Nikita_Citizen: Yes! I love this sort of new friendship between Matt and Stella. I also will never get tired of seeing Mouch, Herrmann, and Boden's friendship. I actually like to see both. Kwanfan1212: I like seeing characters who don’t get to interact much have a few scenes together. It was fun seeing Casey and Kidd share some scenes in this episode (their scene at the hospital with the texting was hilarious) and I do hope we get to see more of that with the other characters as the show goes on.
Tumblr media
Q6. Dawsey had some seriously adorable moments together tonight. Which one of them was your favorite? (And you can’t say all of them…that’s a cop out, LOL)
CurlyBuckeye: Hmmm...so hard to pick one! I think it was the scene in the car for me. We've never really had a scene with them driving together. It was really cute! Now, I need some hot & steamy!! Tonichelleak: I'll abstain. Haha (Author Note: She doesn’t like Dawsey but she’s been my friend for a gazillion years so I don’t hold it against her, LOL) Texterlover: Uhh I wish I could say all of them because we know how much I love Dawsey! However, I loved the beginning scene in the car and also the scene when Gabby said, "You're gonna go all Gabby Dawson on this aren't you" and Casey just smiled. Those scenes along with the others were super cute. Hopefully we continue to have them even with what's coming up with Dawson's dad. Nikita_Citizen: All of them!! Just kidding :-D My favorite scene is the one in Matt's truck. We see them interact at home and at the firehouse obviously so it was nice to see them going to work together and being playful. Kwanfan1212: The scene in Matt’s truck. It was so much fun to see them be playful and flirty which we don’t get to see nearly enough!
Tumblr media
Q7. What was your favorite scene from Take a Knee? Least favorite scene? Did anything special stick out to you?
CurlyBuckeye: My favorite scene was Stella telling Gabby how amazing Matt was and her saying, "What else is new?" So stinking adorable! The look on her face was everything! My least favorite was Benny at the firehouse talking to Sev and telling him he's just like him. He needs to leave Kelly alone. He may be his father, but he isn't good for him. The thing that stuck out for me is the Louie mentions from Matt added with Gabby's from last week and their interactions w/ families and kids lately, makes me think something is definitely being cooked up for Dawsey. Hoping it's good and not more heartache. Tonichelleak: I'M SO ANGRY ABOUT SEVERANNA THAT I CAN'T THINK STRAIGHT! haha Seriously though, I KNEW better than to get attached because I totally saw something stupid like this coming (it's Severide, his relationships never last). I REALLY like Anna and I like the scenes they have together. THIS IS STUPID. Now I have to watch some episodes of Friends to cool off. Texterlover: My favorite scene would have to be any Dawsey scene lol but also when the team saved the girl from the crack house. I also really liked the scene with the veterans. Those scenes just really stuck out to me. My least favorite scene would probably have to be Anna leaving Severide like that. She just left with no explanation and Kelly doesn't deserve that. Nikita_Citizen: Hard to pick a favorite scene. I loved the Dawsey scenes, the Herrmanns, Dawson and Brett against Chief Hatcher, Dawson and Brett defending the trainee, I even liked Benny's scenes. Least favorite scene: Anna crushing Severide's heart. Kwanfan1212: Fave Scene: Dawsey in the truck, Herrmann losing his mind in the principal’s office (SO FUNNY), the “going Gabby Dawson” comment, and Casey taking down the bad guy with the machete (even though it scared me). Least Fave: Sev watching Anna leave. That was sad. What Stuck Out: There are more and more references to family and Louie lately which makes me think something child/family related is coming up for Dawsey. It better be something good!

Chicago Fire Round Table S5 - Scorched Earth
Hello Everyone!
Welcome to the latest installment of the Chicago Fire Round Table. Season 5 has been pretty awesome so far, hasn’t it?! We’ve all had a great time chatting about everything here and this week’s episode was fantastic too. I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this or not but it seems we’re the only round table being done for CF now. TV Fanatic isn’t doing one anymore and I can’t find any other ones online. I guess we ran them all out of business, LOL ;)
Anyway, we have a great discussion about this past week’s episode, Scorched Earth, and after being out of town this past weekend, the GIF below sums up how I was feeling towards all of my coworkers last week once I returned to my office, LOL ;)
Tumblr media
1st Responder Award: Big congrats to this week’s 1st Responder Award winner, @tonichelleak who is the rare person to win the award as someone who lives nowhere near my time zone! This week’s award is in honor of the CF 100th episode which will be airing in December but they had the big celebration for it this past week so I thought this would be a fun pic to use for this week’s award. Congrats Toni! =)

PSA: Please remember that, aside from the 1st Responder Award, none of the GIFs or pics being used in this blog were made by me but by other awesome people. Thanks so much to all of them for sharing their talents. =)
DISCUSSION:
Q1. Dawsey nearly lost Louie tonight but thanks to Susan, he’s not going anywhere….but it turns out Susan was behind the entire mess. Were you surprised at the turn that story took tonight? Which is your fave: Angry Casey or Protective Casey?
Tonichelle: Well, I kinda had a feeling we hadn't seen the last of her, or that she wouldn't try to get into Matt's stuff again. It's really not surprising she went that route. She knew that was an important part of who he was. Angry Casey had me worried when he said he'd dismantle her, though. Did he mean professionally or physically?! LOL Texterlover: Can I think both angry and protective Casey are my favorite? I think he was right about Susan and he finally figured it out. I'm happy she got Louie back for them but if she was the cause of it then it was her fault all along. Lantetrain: Nope, wasn't surprised Susan was behind the whole thing. Knew she was bad news but thank God Casey put her in her place and kicked her sorry ass to the curb. Yup, I totally love Angry Casey little more than Protective Casey but those two are way up there. It's really hard to choose lol CurlyBuckeye: No, was not surprised that Susan was behind it at all and still don't trust that she's gone for good. Protective Casey is sweet, but Angry Casey is hot! and scary. In this case, I liked Angry Casey better because it was directed at Susan the whore. MiladyEly: First of all I really liked how the storyline turned out, but I didn't like how Gabby acted to Casey at first. Was it his fault? No, was she upset? Yes. Did she have the right to be? Yes. Did she have to be like that to Casey? Not really. Especially when she asked him at the firehouse and then immediately after a call...he's an alderman, contractor, and firefighter Gabby, not a wizard yet. But I am glad they went to talk to Susan together. And Angry Casey is always amazingly done by Jesse! Em_M_J: I don’t think I was that surprised that Susan was behind the whole mess - I had had a few conversations with a friend about this very fact. I think we all knew that Susan was slippery and that she wasn’t going to let Casey go anytime soon. The fact that it was all cleared up so quickly definitely set off warning bells for me, and it was good to see that Casey was the one to pick that up too. But that smile she wore as she left his office leads me to think we haven’t seen the last of Susan, that smile was evil. She’s not going to let this go so easily… Maybe next time we can get angry Gabby? Personal fave had to be angry Casey - I’ve been missing this since Season One. It was a nice throwback to early Casey, one that we’ve been missing for far too long - takes a long time for him to get to that point, but man does he blow when it reaches that point. Nikita_Citizen: I suspected that she was connected to Dearing but I couldn't figure out what was her angle. All I want to say is "Good riddance!" Let's hope we never see her again. I love both angry and protective Casey as well as his soft side and the fact that he was reassuring Gabby when she was panicking. He's multifaceted and that's what I love about his character. Kwanfan1212: I have to say both because Angry Casey only came out because he was in full Protective Casey mode for Gabby & Louie and all of it was hot on so many levels, LOL =) I wasn’t sure what to think about Louie’s situation but when consultant slut lady took care of everything so fast, I immediately thought to myself, ‘that was awfully quick to handle a difficult situation...” and I’m glad Casey picked up on that too. I really hope slut lady is gone now because she’s hella annoying. =P
Tumblr media
Q2. Stella’s back story became a bit more apparent tonight as she went out of her way to help a wayward kid. What did you think of her actions tonight?
Tonichelle: I definitely liked the secondary story of the kid, and kinda wish that it would've gone on longer than one episode. Texterlover: I think Stella fits in perfectly at fifty-one, trying to help people even after they save them, and I do think her back story was relevant in tonight's episode which made even more special and heartwarming. She just wanted to help. Lantetrain: I'm glad we're getting a back story for Stella. I really love her character and wanted to see more of her and I totally love her actions tonight. CurlyBuckeye: I thought it was really sweet of Stella to find Chris and get him help. It was a great thing to do. MiladyEly: I did like the storyline. At first I thought it was going the be the same as Ernie and Boden in season 1 but I still liked seeing it. It was the kind of drama that was not so much personal firehouse drama which I liked. Em_M_J: Yeah Stella, this was a nice storyline that has begun to show us a little more of Stella’s background, and one that opens us up to her personal life without it being all about her romantic life. I think it also shows us as an audience what a firehouse community can do, it’s not all about running into burning building so I am glad that they tackled this storyline. I’m interested to see these glimpses of Stella’s life; it makes me think that if something didn’t change in her life before Chicago then she may have very well been someone like Chris. Nikita_Citizen: I loved this storyline. I think it was important to see this side of Stella. It makes me love her character even more. We're also learning a little more about her past which is great and very interesting. Kwanfan1212: I love Stella (I find it very odd that so many people in article comments and on FB don’t like her) and it was fantastic getting to know her a bit better tonight. I loved her passion for helping Chris and I wonder if we’ll keep learning more about her past as we go this season. I hope so!
Tumblr media
Q3. Molly’s has been a little slow lately. Otis and Herrmann brainstormed some promotional stuff but it looks like a Travis visit did the job for them. Do you think that’s a good long term plan for them? What advice would you give the Molly’s crew?
Tonichelle: I wonder if Severide calling Travis out is going to come back to hurt Molly's? If Severide backs out, Travis could use Molly's/Severide's friends as leverage (I assume). Texterlover: I think doing special promotions is a great idea. As for how long it will last because Travis was there I’m not sure. Hopefully for a while but I'm not sure on that one. Lantetrain: I think it will work long term but something tells me that something will go wrong. Molly’s is always in trouble but I have faith the bar will survive. CurlyBuckeye: The Travis connection may help in the long term because if all those people liked it and tell all their friends, then even more people will start coming and those that came will come back. I don't know what advice I'd give them, except maybe talk with the customers to see what would get them to keep coming back. MiladyEly: Are you sure you want to ask this to a marketing & hospitality student? :) Nope, it is not a long-term plan, social media campaigns come and go, and after a few weeks it will most likely be slow again. I'd like to see what they come up with then! Although the most major problem seems to be Otis and Herrmann want to go different directions with the bar. If they want to keep it the old neighborhood bar they should market it as such and really get the neighborhood to come to the bar - minus the Portland couple because screw those guys - and make sure they make it clear the bar is not just for the first responders in the show because they keep that doorstep high that way for people that are worried they don't belong to the crowd. Em_M_J: Oh Molly’s! I think they need to look at a different long term plan than just having Travis in there. I mean what happens when inevitably Travis posts about another neighborhood bar and everyone leaves Molly’s? Then they are back to square one. However, I’m not too sure what advice that I would give them…there is a reason I did badly in economics in school. Nikita_Citizen: Travis isn't really trustworthy so I'm not sure this is a good idea to be connected to him. I really don't know what they should do. The fact that Molly's centennial celebration is coming might be a solution to their problems. Kwanfan1212:The Molly’s crew just needs to work on a good, overall plan to make sure people know that they’re a great, neighborhood bar with friendly faces and good drinks. Most people will find a place like that and not go anywhere else once they realize that it feels like a home. Not a fan of Travis being a plan for them because he’s so fickle.
Tumblr media
Q4. Sylvie’s crush on Antonio and vice versa became very apparent tonight and Gabby wasn’t totally against them either. Are you on board with Brettonio after their scenes tonight?
Tonichelle: I don't have an opinion LOL Texterlover: I think Brettonio could be a good pairing. It depends how the writers have it play out. I like them but I know others don't. I think tonight's episode was cute for them. It was like they were both back in school with crushes on each other. Lantetrain: I thought their flirting was so cute tonight and yes, I'm fully on board with a Brettonio pairing. I think they make a great couple and it does help that Gabby is on board with it. So I say bring it on! CurlyBuckeye: I'm totally on board with Brettonio! I think they are so cute together and I'm hoping it lasts long. I thought Gabby's advice was great and I'm glad she's good with it. MiladyEly: First of all, ANTONIO HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT ABOUT LAURA. There was never any reason before that to say that. But I am on board with the ship as long as it’s not just a fling again but a lasting one. Em_M_J: I feel like I’m one of the few who aren’t on board with Brettonio. Even if Gabby is seemingly okay with it, I just don’t see it. But each to their own, but I’m finding it quite awkward to watch on screen. If I think about it, I’m sure that Antonio would be very rusty at flirting after being married for so long and probably not dating for years, but I think I would much rather see him awkwardly flirting with someone else other than Brett. On a side note, why don’t they just add Jon Seda to the Fire cast? Nikita_Citizen: Totally! I'm glad that Gabby isn't against it & that she told Sylvie to go for it. They're adorable, they have great chemistry, and I'm really loving them together. It just feels natural between them. I can't wait to see their relationship grow. Kwanfan1212: I like them together. They’re pretty cute and it’s fun to watch them be all nervous and dorky around each other. I think they’re going to be an entertaining pair to watch and I cannot wait for their inevitable double date with Dawsey (you know that has to be coming, LOL)! =D
Tumblr media
Q5. Stella & Chief’s talk about how to help others was pretty powerful. Do you agree with her theory about someone not close being the only one who could finally get through to someone who’s in trouble?
Tonichelle: I think she might be right in some circumstances, but I also know that sometimes it takes some majorly tough love by those closest to you before you get that wakeup call. I have family who were long time drug addicts that it took their wife saying she was leaving and taking the kids that finally woke them up. 20+ years sober now, but it took the family headed out the door. Texterlover: I think in some cases yes it takes someone who isn't close to help but in some cases I disagree with that. Lantetrain: I agree with Stella’s theory but also Boden’s concern that not all kids can be helped if they don't want to. It's happy that someone will take the time to help and be concerned though. CurlyBuckeye: I do agree with Stella. You're always less willing to listen to family and close friends because they are too close to you, and I think those that know you so well can fall into the trap of enabling you instead of giving tough love. MiladyEly: I really liked the talk. I personally think everybody with the right intentions and the right of form of help can help somebody, but that doesn't make the talk any less powerful. Em_M_J: I think it depends on the problem and the resources that the people around you hold. In the case that we saw this week, someone who held a higher position and was more powerful was the right person to help Chris through the trouble. So in that sense, it doesn’t matter as much how close you are to the person. But on the other hand, I see Stella’s point. Sometimes being too close to a person, you can be blinded how to really help them. And no matter how close you are to them, there will never be anything that you can do to help them through that trouble. I think it really does depend on the context. Nikita_Citizen: I agree. Sometimes it's way harder to get help to the people close to you, especially when they're in a bad place. Kwanfan1212: I think she has a great point but there are exceptions. A lot of times the people closest to you aren’t the ones who are the most truthful but someone with no connection to you can give you a more honest assessment about a situation. It worked for her in helping out Chris but I don’t know that it works all the time. It is a valid theory most of the time though.
Tumblr media
Q6. Severide originally decided to go with Travis on his trip but got way more than he bargained for with that friendship. What do you think Severide will do now?
Tonichelle: You hope he'll do the right thing, and he probably will because he's one of the mains... but idk. I don't have a high opinion of Sev LOL Texterlover: I think he should say no to Travis about the trip. I feel like Travis is using him and not for good. Leaving that girl on a bench outside the hospital will probably make it a no go for Kelly which I think would be the case for a lot of people. Maybe Travis isn’t all he's cracked up to be. Lantetrain: I think he will turn Travis’ trip down and try to distance himself but something will come up that will probably send him back into Travis’ orbit. CurlyBuckeye: I'm hoping Sev doesn't go on this trip and realizes Travis is bad news, but I think Sev will go and I don't like it. Trouble is the only thing Sev is going to find by hanging with this guy. I'm also wondering why Travis is so adamant about being friends with Severide. MiladyEly: Book it. As in get the crap away from Travis, not book the trip. Em_M_J: Urgh! Can we move on from this?? It makes it out to look like Severide is actually regressing. I think that Severide is being lured into this ‘lifestyle’ especially when Travis is constantly mentioning that he and Severide are the same. Whilst it seems like Severide’s eyes have been more opened with the overdose episode and how Travis handled it, I still feel like this friendship is going to continue, although hopefully Severide will be cautious. And I don’t think it’s going to end well either. Nikita_Citizen: I certainly hope he will sever ties with Travis because that's the smartest thing to do, but since he'll be like the devil on Severide's shoulder, I don't think it will be easy. Now we know why Travis needs Severide & it can only smell trouble. Kwanfan1212: I have a bad feeling about this story with Travis. He seems like trouble to me and I think Sev is starting to realize that too. I hope he decides to pass on the trip and rethinks what he really wants in his life. Sev has come a long way since S1 so I’d rather not see him regress here.
Tumblr media
Q7. What was your favorite scene from Scorched Earth? Least favorite scene? Did anything special stick out to you?
Tonichelle: LOUIE IS SO CUTE! haha that and the ‘dismantled’ quote both stick with me right now. Texterlover: I loved Matt calling out Susan and the end Dawsey scene nearly killed me because it was so cute and sweet. I loved it. Ok, I also liked the scene when Dawsey got Louie back but not Susan in it because if she is the reason all of it happened in the first place. Then didn't like it as much. I also liked the Stella scenes and the Brettonio scenes as well. There were some funny scenes tonight as well like when Otis asked to tag along with Kelly and Travis on their trip. Severide’s reaction along with Cruz made me laugh and also Herrmann when asked if they had a cocktail menu saying ‘we have what's there’…that made me laugh. I didn't like Travis. We really got to see his true colors tonight and they weren't pretty. Lantetrain: I totally loved all the Dawsey family scenes tonight. How freaking cute are they?! Also, Matt protecting his family and getting angry was a big highlight for me. Least fave was nothing. I loved it all. CurlyBuckeye: Favorite scene was the end with Dawsey and Louie. So sweet, totally loved it! Would've liked to see a Dawsey kiss too but it was a great scene. Least favorite scene was any with Susan. Hate seeing her and hated that Casey was nice to her. I really didn't like the smirk on her face after Casey told her off either. The thing that stood out to me was that smirk of Susan's. It tells me she'll be back yet again. MiladyEly: I didn't like Gabby's constant nagging with Casey, just because there was not an awful lot he could do to help it. I hated how they pretty much wrote off Jimmy. Two lines is a bit of a shame for a character. I hope they get McQueen for one more episode for a proper goodbye. I liked Angry Casey to Susan, a lot! Plus the montage at the end was really great. Em_M_J: Like many people I think, my favorite scene was Casey dismantling Susan. I liked the parallels he had between what he would do and being a firefighter. Everything comes back to his job as a firefighter. I think it’s a good thing, hopefully we see less of his life as a politician and have it come back to his roots of being a lieutenant. The other scene that was high up there for me was the scene in Chief’s office near the end with Goodwin and Jefferies. For me, this really shows that the soon to be four Chicago shows are very intertwined. I don’t necessarily need to see the big crossovers we have in the past, but something small like this reminds me that they are all in the same world, it’s just seamless and I really like that. Particularly off the back of One Chicago Day this week. Nikita_Citizen: Favorite scenes: 1) The Dawsey family closing scene. We've waited so long to see this and I can't wait to see more precious family moments. 2) I wanted Gabby to confront Susan but I'm so glad that it was Casey instead. We saw once again how protective he is of Gabby and now Louie and that he would do anything for them. Casey telling Susan to get out was just EPIC! One of my favorite scenes of CF without a doubt. Least favorite: When Susan met Dawsey at the restaurant, she was so full of herself, it made me cringe. Basically, all her scenes make me cringe! Kwanfan1212: Favorite scenes: All the Dawsey, especially the end with the couch cuddles, and I enjoyed the scenes with Brettonio too. Angry Casey was AMAZING so mad props for that scene too. Least Fave: Everything with Susan. She has GOT to go! What Stuck Out: How natural Gabby & Matt are with Louie and how much I love domestic Dawsey. I would seriously watch an entire episode of them and Louie just being together. <3

Author’s Corner:
I don’t know about anyone else but I find it really sad that people don’t think of Louie as Gabby & Matt’s kid because he’s ‘only’ their foster kid. You can tell how much they love that little boy and would do absolutely anything for him. They aren’t treating him like he’s different or not worthy of being loved and having a home. I understand wanting Dawsey to have a baby someday but why does that make Louie less worthy of their love? Having friends who have adopted children and knowing people who have fostered in the past, it takes such a special heart to do that for a child that has had no home or one who might be labeled a ‘troubled kid’. A ‘real” kid isn’t more important than one who comes to anyone via a different means and it just breaks my heart to read stuff online about how Dawsey needs to lose Louie so they can get married and have their ‘own’ kid. Louie IS their kid IMO and he’s adorable to boot so why wish for more Dawsey heartache just because it doesn’t fit your theory about how their life should be? Can’t we just enjoy them being a family? Maybe it’s just me but I find that really heartbreaking that people think their life together isn’t good enough as it is right now. It looks pretty adorable and happy to me.

Chicago Fire Round Table S5: A Real Wake Up Call
Hello everyone!
I apologize for the late posting of the latest Chicago Fire Round Table blog but I was out of town this weekend (irony: I was in Chicago although I was there for a skating competition and not for any of the Chicago shows, LOL) and didn’t have the time that I normally do to collect and arrange all the blog information. I did my best though for this week’s episode and I promise to do better next time. Thanks for your patience and understanding! =)
1st Responder Award: Congrats to this week’s 1st Responder Award winner who was texterlover!! =)

PSA: Please remember that all of the pics and GIFs used in this blog (aside from the 1st Responder Award) were not made by me but by other amazing people who share their talents with us every week. Thanks again everyone! =)
DISCUSSION
Q1. Grant, Stella, and Severide’s story got more complicated when she decided not to press charges against Grant and cut Sev out. Were you satisfied with how this story turned out in the end?
Texterlover: At first I was upset because she wasn't pressing charges but then I sort of understood why she felt like she owed him. Lantetrain: First off, I was shocked that Stella was protecting Grant and was going to put her in a time out but after that last session when she confronted Grant and we learned why she did what she did, it was surprising for me and made me understand Stella more. Sarrabr_4: I like the way it turned out, not because she insists on not pressing charges (because she definitely should), but because we get to see more of Stella's story being told and where she comes from so yeah, happy. MiladyEly: I am glad this storyline is finished now - at least it seems. I didn't care a lot for Grant and not a fan of the ship either, but at least I hope things go well between them now. Michelleqpeter2: I wasn't that satisfied. I was kind of hoping Stella and Severide would make it last. He deserves happiness. CurlyBuckeye: I didn't understand Stella's decision at first and thought she was wrong for not pressing charges. Then I understood her decision when it came out that she'd had an addiction that Grant helped her with. I do think having him go into the hospital was the best decision. I also understand her cutting Sev out because he did tell her he wasn't good at monogamy which told her that he wasn't into a true relationship. Nikita_Citizen: Yes and no. I thought it was gonna be way darker. I wasn't expecting Grant to live and Stella not to press charges. On one hand I'm satisfied with the resolution because Severide didn't kill Grant. But on the other hand, I don't like that this whole situation is pulling Severide and Stella apart. KwanFan1212: I actually agree with her that Grant needed more help than he could have gotten in jail but I totally understand everyone being upset with her about that decision.
Tumblr media
Q2. Dawson and Casey had some struggles with caretaking for Louie as well as a busybody Alderman who threatened Casey. Connie’s sister seems to have saved the day with the caretaking but how do you think they will handle the alderman situation?
Texterlover: I'm honestly upset that an alderman would send a child back into foster care just to get his way. Casey did what he asked and he's still bribing him. They can't lose Louie. Lantetrain: First off I'm happy that Dawsey finally found a sitter and she's Connie sister Bonnie (haha love that) and second, I think that they will or Casey will bring in Susan again to help them fight this busy body, no good alderman and they will defeat him. Sarrabr_4: That look in Gabby's eye in that kitchen was a powerful one. Casey loves her and Louie and I know he will fight to keep the three of them together for as long as humanly possible, but that sketchy Alderman is making me itch. I can't wait to see how they deal with him. MiladyEly: I am sure that it will be resolved. Hopefully Casey doesn't get dirty while doing so, as that is not what he stands for, but even though I have a feeling that in the long run, Louie will not stay with them, I hope he is not going to leave any time soon, as they are such a lovely stable couple now. Michelleqpeter2: I think Casey cares more about Dawson and Louie so I think he will fight to keep Louie with them. CurlyBuckeye: I'm so annoyed with the Alderman going after Louie to blackmail Dawsey. I don't know what they're going to do, but I know Susan will be involved and I'm wondering if she's actually behind the whole thing. I hope Matt kicks some ass. I don't think they'll lose Louie, but I suppose it's possible. I hope this is where Gabby will confront Susan too. Nikita_Citizen: I think they'll contact someone I don't want to see ever again and I don't like it. I wish they can find another solution! Kwanfan1212: I think they’re gonna call Susan to get help witih the bad Alderman. If she’s actually able to help them, I will buy her a bus ticket out of town instead of wishing for her to get hit by the bus, LOL ;) (Dawsey Family = ADORABLE)
Tumblr media
Q3. Chief Boden and Jimmy’s tension continued into this week with tragic consequences. Were you surprised by what happened tonight? Where do you think these two go from here?
Texterlover:  I sort of knew the one being burned was going to be Jimmy but I didn't know it would be that severe. I went from being mad at Jimmy to feeling bad for him. Lantetrain: Wow just wow, I'm still shock at that ending. I totally didn't see that coming. For real. I knew Jimmy was spiraling out of control but to see that happen to him made me cry. I honestly did love Jimmy and now Boden is feeling guiltier than before and I think that we will see Boden struggle more with this but with 51 he will get through it. As for Jimmy :( his career is over and I'm glad at the end it seemed like Jimmy and Boden mended fences. Sarrabr_4: I wasn't all that surprised about this even though it does sadden me to see Jimmy leave. Grief does things to people and we don't react to it the same way and everybody could see how much he was hurting and how he was hiding behind that anger and they were willing to help him even if he ignored their tough love. That last scene said everything in ways of where they stand but hopefully the house will rally around Chief Boden because I know it'll be hard for him. MiladyEly: Not a surprise at all, but I do hope this is not the last we see of Jimmy. It wouldn't surprise me as they always let characters just disappear after things like these happen, but Jimmy was a character with a lot of potential and I hate how they wrote him this season. It would be a shame if this would be the total last we would see of him. Michelleqpeter2: I was surprised at how they handled the situation by injuring Jimmy. It looked at the end that Jimmy forgave Chief when he was sitting by his bed. CurlyBuckeye: I was surprised that Jimmy ended up injured so badly. I thought he'd just be put on suspension until he could get it together. I was really sad for him because he has no family left. When he reached for Boden's hand, I lost it. I'm glad he realized Boden wasn't to blame, but it was a horrible way to figure it out. Nikita_Citizen: I wasn't surprised by what happened. Despite that, it was intense, really emotional and heartbreaking. I just hope Boden won't feel guilty because he really tried his best to help Jimmy. The ending showed that they're putting their differences behind them. It's just sad that Jimmy had to be hurt for that to happen. Kwanfan1212: I originally thought Jimmy was going to die so I’m happy that he’s still with us but how sad that it took a tragedy for him to see that his friends at the house were just trying to help him. That Jimmy-Boden scene at the end was so heartbreaking.
Tumblr media
Q4. Mouch and Sylvie got off to a rough start with their writing adventure but seemed to find some good common ground. What are your thoughts on this story so far?
Texterlover: I love this story. It adds some comedy to the show. Mouch and Sylvie make a good team. Lantetrain: So far I'm really liking this Brett and Mouch storyline with the fanfic and I’m looking forward to more especially seeing if the firehouse catches on to them lol! Sarrabr_4: LOVE IT!! I swear if I could start a pool to find out who catches them first I would. You get to see two characters interact that you haven't really seen in the past and I love their dynamic so keeping an eye on that SL for sure. MiladyEly: I think it is a funny storyline and look forward to see how it is going to end up. I mean, someday the others will find out, right? Michelleqpeter2: I think these two writing a story together is the funniest but most awesome thing ever. CurlyBuckeye: I think Mouch and Sylvie are too funny! This storyline is cracking me up and I can't wait to see where it goes. Nikita_Citizen: I don't know what else I can say except that it cracks me up! I really want this storyline to last. "How can he rip open her turnout coat? It’s made of Kevlar" :-D Christian & Kara are killing it. Kwanfan1212: This story is my comic relief every week and I cannot wait to see what happens next! =D
Tumblr media
Q5. A huge crash scene ended up turning tragic for House 51 with Jimmy’s life changing injury. Tragedy usually unites this house so how do you think this event will change or unite everyone?
Texterlover: I think this will unite them because they won't want it to happen again and like Severide said, they can't blame each other and Chief can't blame himself. Lantetrain: I think it will make the house even stronger than before. Sarrabr_4: I'm trying to find the silver lining here but for some odd reason, I feel there's going to be some kind of "division." Division in the sense that not everyone will handle it in the same way *looking in Brett's direction* but hopefully they'll find a way to unite like they always do. MiladyEly: I hope the house finds comfort in each other as we know they always do, but that they also keep supporting Jimmy. Like I said, I know Steven will probably leave the show now but I do still hope a bit that we see him at least once again. Michelleqpeter2: I think the tragedy will bring everyone closer and maybe see things that they wouldn't usually because 51 is a family no matter what. CurlyBuckeye: I think they all were already afraid something like what happened would happen and they tried their best to avoid it but weren't given much of a choice from the higher ups. It just strengthens their bond with each other I think. Nikita_Citizen: There's no doubt they're gonna be there for one another like they always do but I'm worried about Severide. He seems to be back to his old partying habits. Kwanfan1212: This house is a family and I think they’ll rally together from this tragedy.
Tumblr media
Q6. Severide decided to go to one of Travis’ parties after being rejected by Stella. Are you worried about him going back to his partying ways? Are you still rooting for Sev and Stella?
Texterlover: I like Sev and Stella honestly so I’m kind of upset there. Lantetrain: First off I'm not surprised Kelly went to the party, but I did call it last week that it's going to affect the house again. I have a feeling it won't get bad cause Matt or Gabby will keep him in line and yes, I'm still holding out hope and rooting for Stella and Kelly to get back together. They are so perfect together and they’re so cute. Sarrabr_4: Yes, I am because I'd love to see Severide in a somewhat steady relationship for once but this Travis guy is going to put a dent in that plan and hopefully Stella will be able to pull him back towards his family that's always been there for him. MiladyEly: Never was and I am fine with them breaking up as far as they were together, however I do not want to see any more drama so if this is their break, I don’t want Sev’s partying to be related to the break but just because he wants to. Please no more relationship drama. Michelleqpeter2: I am hugely worried about Severide going back to the partying ways. I mean yes, I am still rooting for them but this is Chicago Fire so they will probably have an uphill battle to be happy finally. CurlyBuckeye: I think Sev will go back to his partying ways and I think it's stupid. I'm personally tired of the same pattern for him. I do like Stella and Sev together, but it won't kill me if they aren't. They aren't a Dawsey for me. Nikita_Citizen: I'm worried he'll get into trouble because it's usually what happens. I'm still rooting for them of course but unfortunately Severide's relationships are doomed. Kwanfan1212: I’m kind of tired of Sev partying it up all the time but I think this may be the time that he sees how much that way of life hurts people around him and maybe this time, he changes from it for good.
Tumblr media
Q7. What was your favorite scene from A Real Wake Up Call? Least favorite scene? Did anything special stick out to you?
Texterlover: Loved the first scene with Dawsey and Louie. Daddy Casey reading was so cute and it seems like Dawsey are getting back to their old selves. I don't like that Alderman and I didn't necessarily care for Jimmy being hurt that bad. Lantetrain: Favorite scene has got to be Daddy Casey reading a book to Louie. OMG, swooning here still. He already loves Louie and Louie already has Matt wrapped around his finger. Least fave the Kelly going to the party storyline. Been there, done that with Kelly and it's getting old. Sarrabr_4: I love all Dawsey but that opening was especially cute to watch. Can't say there was a least favourite one. These two episodes have just BROUGHT IT so far. What sticks out to me is that it's been one hell of a season so far (even if we're just two episodes in). MiladyEly: My favourite scene was probably Dawsey being all domestic in the kitchen, or Casey reading to Louie in the beginning, that was very sweet! It showed them as the couple we were hoping they would be for the last seasons. It’s a lot better than all the drama! I thought the moment with Jimmy and Boden was very touching and memorable as well. Honestly, it is also one of my least favourites as it seemed like a goodbye for Jimmy and I am still in denial of him going, as his character still seemed to have a lot of potential and I don’t want to bond with new characters in 51 who might leave in one season again. Michelleqpeter2:  Favorite scene Casey reading to Louie and Dawson and Casey finally being in a good place. Least favorite scene had to be when Jimmy got injured. CurlyBuckeye: My favorite scene was the Dawsey family scene w/them reading to Louie. <3 My least favorite was Jimmy at the bar trash talking Boden. I hated seeing him be so nasty when he was such a sweet character. The thing that stuck out to me was just how they all are there for each other no matter what happens. Nikita_Citizen: Jimmy's tear and Boden reaching for his hand was such a powerful scene and my favorite in this episode. I also loved when Matt kissed Gabby and their scenes at the apartment with Louie. So so cute! I missed that. Least favorite scene is Jimmy being burned & Sylvie breaking down. I could barely watch this scene. I don't like this new Alderman and his threats. He’d better stay away from Dawsey. What stuck out: I can't help but think that Susan informed Alderman Deering. I feel like these two are somehow connected. kwanfan1212: The GIF below was my favorite scene (Louie going to Matt wanting him to read to him...SO CUTE). Least Fave: That Alderman threatening Matt and Jimmy’s behavior. What Stuck Out: How natural and awesome it was to see Dawsey being all domestic again back at their apartment. They just FIT and it looks like they’ve been there for years. I LOVE THEM. =)
Tumblr media
Jimmy’s Accident
It’s so tragic that it took that horrific accident for Jimmy to finally understand that everyone was just trying to help him through his grief, and can we talk about how fast everyone ran to him to help out? THAT is family. It was SO hard to watch happen though. That injury to him was one of the most grusome ones that I’ve seen on this show and in over 4 years of watching now, that’s quite a feat.

Dawsey - Can’t They Just Be An Adorable Family??!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It figures that after we get this adorable scene of the Dawsey family together, we then have to deal with a d-bag Alderman who wants to blackmail Casey into voting for his bad policies by threatening to take Louie away. Thankfully we got these cute scenes before they dropped that other bombshell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Protective Matt is one of my FAVORITE things in the world though and I think we’re gonna get that in the next episode. <3

Sorry this week’s round table wasn’t as long as normal but I’ll do better next time! Thanks for your patience everyone!! =)

Chicago Fire Round Table S4: Short and Fat
Seasons greetings and welcome to the last installment of the Chicago Fire Round Table for 2015! Yesterday was my birthday so that’s why this blog isn’t being posted until today. I also spent my birthday morning (midnight - 7 AM) at a lock in with my church youth group (I’m a volunteer leader there) so I wasn’t in any condition to write this up yesterday anyway after spending way too much time being awake with them all night. That could have been a very entertaining write up though, LOL ;)
Anyway, this week’s episode had a lot more action, a lot more satisfaction, and just a lot more action in general to talk about so there’s a great discussion posted below for you guys. CF has never disappointed in their fall finales so I’m happy to report that their record is still intact! We even had one of those annoying cliffhangers to stress us out for the next three weeks. I guess they couldn’t let everyone just be happy, could they?! LOL ;)
Before we get into the discussion for this episode, Short and Fat (this title could also be a current description of myself but I digress.....), congrats to @texterlover for winning this week’s 1st Responder Award!!! It was a photo finish this week as I had about three people battling to finish the questions first. I love when its a battle to the finish line! =D
Tumblr media
PSA: This is where I remind everyone that all of the GIFs and photos (aside from the 1st Responder Award) are not mine and were made by other awesome people. Big shout out and thanks again to all the creative and talented people who make all these gems for us! =)
DISCUSSION
Q1. Chief Boden’s situation finally got better once they found Serena. Are you happy with the conclusion to this story? lantetrain: Hell yah!! I'm so thrilled the Boden situation was taken care of and Boden was clear. Nobody keeps Chief Boden down. Sharkygirl: Yes! Finally! It was dragging on… hai02lin: Yes. I enjoyed seeing Ruzek and Atwater but there was a little too much PD stuff in this ep for me. Nikita_Citizen: YES! I couldn't handle Boden's sad face anymore, the opening broke my heart. I felt so bad for him. I'm glad this storyline is finally wrapped up because Firehouse 51 without the Chief isn't Firehouse 51. karen1948: Yes I'm happy this SL got resolved and chief was vindicated as we ALL knew Serena was lying! It was a great storyline, a bit long though! sarrabr_4: Oh I am definitely happy with how it ended, especially since our boys from PD were there to help him out to sort everything out. Go One Chicago! Texterlover: Yes so happy Chief Boden didn't deserve any of that terrible stuff. MiladyEly: Yes I am glad it is resolved now and that they are not dragging it out too long. It was good that it ended now. michelleqpeter2: Yes finally the Chief was cleared. kwanfan1212: I am ecstatic that this story is finally over. Its about time the Chief was cleared!
Tumblr media
Q2. Patterson finally chose a side & now understands what House 51 is all about. How do you feel about him now?   lantetrain: Actually after tonite’s episode, he really stepped up & redeemed himself to me and the house, and I would of like him to stay after tonite. Sharkygirl: I feel better about him now he doesn't seem so 'shifty'. hai02lin: I knew he would redeem himself and I like him. It would be great if they could find a place for him. Nikita_Citizen: I liked him in the beginning, then hated him for so many reasons, & I have to admit I like him again. He made the right decision. The house showed him what it's like to be a family and to be there for one another. He finally learned a lesson and went after Riddle and told him to "Go to hell". karen1948: I knew in the end he would make the right choice, it was just painful getting to the point with him. I'm happy he came to the conclusion FH 51 is all about family! I didn't really hate the character, I was not really into his character! He didn't add anything to 51 to me! sarrabr_4: There are some times where I had doubts about him and that I wasn't sure where his head was at and I understand his duty to the job and do it the best he can, but with the help of several members of 51, he realized how much of a family 51 is and that they are meant to stay as they are. Texterlover: I actually kind of like him now & wish he would have stayed at fifty one just on squad to see more of him. MiladyEly: I can't help it. He could save sick orphans out of a burning building while riding a unicorn and I still wouldn't like him. I just don't, never did. He is still a dickhead. michelleqpeter2: I didn't really like him in the beginning and I am not changing that but it was nice of him to stand up for 51 finally. kwanfan1212: I still don’t think I can trust him (he was too shifty over these last 9 episodes) but I’m glad he finally realized that 51 is Boden’s house and that he didn’t want to disrupt the family that was built there. I also loved when he told Riddle how he really felt. That was awesome! =)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Q3. Freddie got a job at Molly’s from Hermann & Otis but it ended with Hermann getting stabbed. Cliffhanger reactions….GO! lantetrain: I had to page Chicago Med after that cliff hanger cause my heart literally stopped and I screamed, “Not my Hermann!!!!” I'm still shaking. Sharkygirl: My first thought was, 'Holy hell! SERIOUSLY?!' My second thought was, 'Well, at least it's not Casey or Dawson this time'. hai02lin: It was an awful turn for Freddie. Interesting, though. There will be fallout for Cruz, etc. Nikita_Citizen: I didn't see that coming! I just knew someone was gonna be stabbed at some point but not now & certainly not Freddie stabbing Hermann. I just wanted to cry & scream! This season is full of twists. karen1948: I knew something was up when Freddie would get upset when Hermann was joking with him! Just didn't think he would stab Hermy! Truly upset though! But I know Hermann will pull through! sarrabr_4: I HATE Derek Haas and Michael Brandt. I love Herrmann's character so much and my heart is having trouble handling this stabbing...from Freddie or anyone else. He needs to be ok for my little heart to be ok too. Texterlover: Literally shrieked and then covered my mouth. I couldn't believe it. Saw a tweet that expressed my feelings perfectly, "He stabbed him for calling him fat..." MiladyEly: My first reaction was ''well shit'' because it will be a long wait! I am 99.9% sure Hermy won't be killed off but I wish we could see what happens to him sooner. In the preview we saw Cindy though and I am excited for some Hermy and Cindy scenes! michelleqpeter2: What did I just watch and I love Hermann so he better be okay. kwanfan1212: I expected something to happen in the Freddie story somehow (it just made sense with what I knew about the other storylines) but I did NOT expect Hermann to get stabbed by Freddie! That was shocking and I’m sure the episode right after the break will be insanely emotional. #SaveHermann!!
Tumblr media
Q4. Maddox finally got what was coming to him after he targeted House 51. Were you satisfied with how they dealt with him?   lantetrain: HELL YAH!! Love it and like Gabby said, ‘we’re the ones running into the fire as the rats run out and Maddox is a rat that we will step on’. Man I loved that line and it described how Maddox was dealt with. Sharkygirl: Yes! Glad the whole thing is over with! hai02lin: Yes it was fine. I was not a fan of this storyline. It went on about 2 episodes too long. Nikita_Citizen: Yes and especially how Antonio dealt with him. The moment in the interrogation room was perfect. I knew Intelligence would do everything they could to help Boden. karen1948: Yes I was totally satisfied with the outcome! But can we give Antonio Dawson an Academy Award for his interrogation techniques?! I just can't girt over it! Amazing acting! sarrabr_4: Seeing Jon Seda in that scene, that was worth all the money in the world and it shows how important Antonio is and how amazing at his job he is. Thank god we got rid of him and they STEPPED on that RAT. Texterlover: Yes and no. I think he should have gotten more consequences for what he has done but I'm happy he didn't get away with it. MiladyEly: I am glad it is over! Same as with Q1, I am glad they are not dragging it out anymore. michelleqpeter2: Yes and no, he needed more of a consequence for his actions. kwanfan1212: I’m glad that he was dealt with and that this story is over but I’m pretty much Casey in this below GIF, a little anxious and looking over my shoulder wondering if he’s gonna come back later in the season. I do hope he’s gone for good though! That man made me yell at my TV a lot. =P
Tumblr media
Q5. Jimmy tried to cool things off with Chili for a while but she didn’t take it well. What do you think is her issue? lantetrain: Girl needs to chill first, and second, I think she's got some bad news and is masking her hurt and pain with pills because she's been coming in late, being tardy and all like someone who's high. So I'm interesting what it is tbh. Sharkygirl: I dunno. Honestly I think she's bi polar or something? hai02lin: I don't know but I doubt it is anything too compelling. It will be something but not sure what. As a side note, I think Jimmy is great for CF but I think his acting is horrible. Am I the only one? I hope he stays around, I just hope his acting gets better. Nikita_Citizen: Something is definitely wrong with her, maybe she's just nuts LOL. I think she may have an illness, that could explain her weird behavior, or drinking problems but I guess somebody would have noticed that. I'm also thinking of money problems. karen1948: I really don't know what's up with Chili but the way she was acting opens up an upcoming storyline for her! Maybe she Bipolar or some serious personal issue! sarrabr_4: I think she has rejection issues and that she doesn't like to be told no but she doesn't think of the consequences it has on others and Jimmy is a candidate, he needs to be on the straight and narrow. She needs to start trusting people. Texterlover: I really don't know especially laughing when something so serious was going on. I'm very confused with her. MiladyEly: Whereas I liked her fatherly/daughterly bond with Hermy last season, I am really starting to dislike her more and more with the episode. I don't know what it is but since we already have seen the painkiller storyline with Severide first season, I hope it is not that, as I have read a lot of people think that. michelleqpeter2: I honestly think she has something mentally wrong with her or has issues with her family that's she's trying to mask. kwanfan1212: My first thought was that she’s bipolar and not on her meds for some reason (I’ve watched enough TV to spot the signs for that) so we’ll see if I’m right or not. She’s definitely got something wrong with her!
Tumblr media
Q6. The house had to work together to save a street from a nitrogen tanker….scale of 1 to BOOM, how tense was that rescue for you?   lantetrain: Hmm BOOM 10x. That was freaking intense and crazy call, my heart was in my throat thinking someone's going to die, but I was happy they all made it out ok and saved the day. It brought me back to S1 call feels and I was happy to see that. Sharkygirl: Holy crap, definitely a 100. hai02lin: Very tense. It was great. I thought Patterson was going to die a hero. Nikita_Citizen: BOOM! Crazy intense! That scene kept me on the edge of my seat. Their reaction when they saved the day was awesome, all laughing & hugging. Loved it. karen1948: OMG! Those scenes were totally amazing and intense! Boom to the fifth power is how I would rate it! sarrabr_4: BOOM and HOT and AMAZING. Our boys working together and Patterson showing off some serious car starting skills and the fact that they all came out of it alive and laughing was amazing, love these boys. Texterlover: Um, definitely a boom. I was honestly scared but then once they seemed to have it under control. I knew they would save the day once again just like they always do. MiladyEly: It was one of the saves that stood out to me in a long time! We didn't get that many fires recently so I think we all know where the budget went now, haha! I really liked this one, it is really one of the more exciting ones of the season. michelleqpeter2: I was scared but it showed classic 51 & all of them working together to save the day. kwanfan1212: It was a BOOM for me! I also thought Patterson was gonna die a hero and was pleasantly surprised to see them pull off saving everyone from the tanker and then bond over their shared adrenaline rush. It was definitely a tense and high octane rescue!
Tumblr media
Q7. What was your favorite scene from Short and Fat? Least favorite scene? Did anything special stick out to you? lantetrain: Wow, everything was freaking fantastic but I have to say Patterson putting Riddle in his place & stepping up for the house and Chief Boden. That's showed a lot of growth for him. Least fave?? Chili’s behavior. Sharkygirl: Fave scene: probably the call they went on w/ the explosion. Least Fave: Hermann getting stabbed! (Seriously?) hai02lin: Fave scene was the liquid nitrogen on truck about to explode with Casey, Sev, Patterson, and Cruz. Least fave was Chili and Jimmy in shower. Nikita_Citizen: So many favorite scenes: Dawsey hugging the Chief & everyone celebrating at Molly's. Boden smiling & asking Severide to be his Lieutenant. So great to see the squad reunited. And Connie, I can't even tell you how much I laughed, her storyline was hilarious. Least favorite: Hermann being stabbed. Poor Hermie. And the usual, Chili/Jimmy. The thing that sticks out is Patterson saying to Boden to ‘keep an eye open because guys like Riddle tend to have 9 lives’. I wonder if we're gonna see him again. I have the feeling he's gonna resurface & get revenge. Sounds foreshadowing. karen1948: Favorite scenes: the interrogation of Maddox by Antonio, the Chief being vindicated, and finally Chief asking Kelly to be his squad Lt again! Least Favorite: Herman being stabbed! sarrabr_4: Wow!! It was another great episode FULL of great scenes but the two that stood out the most was Patterson telling Riddle to go screw himself and that 51 was Boden's house and the one before what will be my worst scene when Boden asks Severide if he'll be his Squad lieutenant once again, made my eyes misty. Least favourite scene is the cliffhanger where Hermann gets stabbed. My heart was pumping and hurting and I want him to be ok and I don't want David to go anywhere. What stood out but it always does is how closely knit 51 is and they're a family and they stick for each other all the way. Texterlover: The scene where Dawson stood up for herself even if it got her into trouble showed how strong she really is, makes me look up to her even more. Least favorite obviously the ending because I love Hermann. Also got scared at the end of the promo, again chief screams Casey but I'm sure he'll be okay, he always is, lol The writers wouldn't want to make us this angry. MiladyEly: Least favourite would have to be Chili’s behavior with Jimmy, it was just plain stupid. Favorite? Of course also all the Dawsey scenes as promised by Der- Oh wait we didn't get any, but my favourite was the explosion call! It reminded me of season 1. michelleqpeter2: I loved Dawson standing up for herself against that sexiest guy even if it got her in trouble. Classic Dawson moment there. kwanfan1212: Favorite: The explosion and rescue from the tanker where they all had to work together. It showed how these guys always put differences aside when it comes to saving others. Least Fave: Chili & Jimmy. I’m SO done with them. I really like Jimmy but Chili is irritating the crap out of me now. It wasn’t much but something I noticed and loved seeing was Dawsey being close togehter and happy at Molly’s during the Patterson-Boden conversations. That was adorable and I hope we finally get more from them in the second half of the season now that the Boden and Severide stuff is over.

Boden - The Truth Will FINALLY Set You Free
FINALLY, Boden is free from the horrible accusations against him, but first up in this episode was Maddox playing his cards a little too open when he went after Gabby and Suzie, aka, the other two people who were supposed to testify against him in the arson case, and making it obvious that he wasn’t going to fight fair. Our guys at House 51 weren’t going to take this laying down and Gabby was integral to helping Chief know that he’s not alone. We all loved this convo between them talking about Maddox.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then the CPD finally found the missing Serena, proved that Maddox had a hand in her story and her disappearance, and the time was finally here for the Chief to be exonorated from all the accusations that had been swirling around him. It’s about danged time!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gabriela Dawson - Not Gonna Take Your Crap
Maddox knew exactly how to hit Gabby where it hurt and even though it got her into a bit of trouble, it was still awesome to see her stand up for herself against those annoying hecklers. You’d think that people would know by now not to piss off Gabby Dawson but they never learn, LOL ;)

I’m just gonna leave these GIFs here and let you all stress out again over the exploding tanker truck. Holy BOOM moment!

Severide - Finally Back Where He Belongs
Raise your hand if you’re glad that Severide FINALLY has his Lt. rank back now! *raises both hands* =)

Cliffhanger - NOT HERMANN!!!!
And in Chicago Fire tradition, we have our fall finale cliffhanger which came in the form of Freddie not liking being teased by Hermann and stabbing him in the backroom of Molly’s. WTH was he thinking and the others better find Hermann in the first five minutes of the next episode!!!

Our Wishes for Chicago Fire in 2016
So, as we conclude the last round table for 2015, I thought it might be fun to list out a few of the things we would like to see more of when Chicago Fire comes back after the holidays.
#1. DAWSEY - We’re all glad that they’re happy and in love and all but can they please give them a story and take them off the back burner now?! We have to see more of these two when the show comes back and hopefully now that the Severide and Boden stories are over, it means Dawsey gets more of a story or at least the adorable moments between them become more frequent! I think a riot may start if we don’t get to see their little weekend getaway too. <3
#2. Hermann Lives - You’d think this would be a given but this show does like to surprise us and stress us out so please let Hermann live to see more fires, explosions, and random rescues with House 51. We’d also like to see more of Cindy while we’re wishing for things.
#3. Severide w/a Decent Love Interest - We’re still not totally sure how we all feel about Jamie but it would sure be nice to have Severide date someone not crazy, not working for a house enemy, and not someone whose kind of manipulative.
#4. Jimmy & Chili Permanently Break Up - Yeah, I don’t think a single person in this panel is enjoying this Chirelli story at all so hopefully they make it go away in the new year. Does anyone actually enjoy them?! =P
#5. No More Going After the House - Its time to stop going after the house for a while and let the stories just come naturally from everyone who works there. More stories including everyone in the house and less going after Chief Boden’s job!
Hopefully we get at least three out of five of these things in 2016!! If we can only have one thing though, we’re most anxious to get more Dawsey scenes so bring on the adorable moments, LOL =)
Tumblr media
Author’s Note: I’m not sure how many of my readers celebrate the holiday season but if you do, I’d like to take this time to wish you all a wonderful Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, or whatever holiday that you celebrate and also that you get many blessings in the new year!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for reading these round tables and I’ll see you again the week of January 5th for the next #OneChicago crossover event between all three Chicago shows! =)

Chicago Fire Round Table S4: Sharp Elbows
Hi everyone and welcome to this week’s installment of the Chicago Fire Round Table! It’s been a crazy week for those of us in the USA because it was Thanksgiving and most people were off work or out of town, but we were still able to make some time for a fun discussion and I’m glad that several folks on the panel were able to participate. =)
Anyway, this week’s episode, Sharp Elbows, really tried our patience with Riddle, Patterson, and the whole Boden situation. Things are quickly getting intense and stressful for everyone at House 51 and we had quite a bit to discuss this week. The holiday week made this a challenging time to get answers from everyone but I totally understand that since it was a crazy week for me too! Thanks to all the panelists who were able to answer the questions!
First up, congrats to @lantetrain for winning the 1st Responder Award this week!!! =)
Tumblr media
PSA: Reminder that all the pics and GIFs used in this blog were made by other awesome people and not by me (aside from the editing of the 1st Responder Awards which is always done by me) and big thanks to all the wonderfully talented people who make all those fun things for us! =)
DISCUSSION
Q1. Chief Boden’s situation has gotten bad very fast. Do you want Voight to help the Chief get out of this mess? lantetrain: Hell yeah I do!! Voight is the man at dealing with these types of situations. Sharkygirl: Uh... Yes! And Antonio too! Riddle did seem to target his sister when she came back to work. Nikita_Citizen: Yes absolutely. But Voight likes to break the rules & Boden doesn't, he wants to do things the right way. Unfortunately I have the feeling it's gonna get worse and he'll have no choice but to accept Voight's offer. sarrabr_4: We all know that Boden didn't do it but that cop dude is starting to annoy me. Doing EVERYTHING he can to turn the situation around to his advantage and YES, ultimately, if he doesn't back the hell off, I want Voight to kick his ass to help Boden. MiladyEly: Yes, I hope Voight will be able to help out with this whole situation, although I am sure that Voight can! Hopefully it will all be resolved soon. LauM79: Of course!! Voight will help right now!! I know he will do it! michelleqpeter2: I would love Voight to help out the Chief but I also like the fact that he took the high road it shows his character. kwanfan1212: As much as I appreciate that Boden wants to do things the right way and trust that the truth will come out, I don’t trust Serena and whoever else is doing this to him, so I do want Voight to come in and take care of things his way to really make sure Boden comes out of this all right.
Tumblr media
Q2. Cruz and Freddie’s story took a turn when Freddie shut Cruz out but he did come back. What do you think he’s hiding from Cruz?     lantetrain: Hmm, it's hard to say!! But I want to see Cruz help Freddie. Sharkygirl: Not sure...tbh. Not really feeling this Cruz/Freddie storyline, it feels too much like his storyline w/ Leon. Nikita_Citizen: I have no idea but he's definitely hiding something. He's bad news. sarrabr_4: I think he's really scared to get out and I'm kind of not sure about him. I think he might be hiding behind the story of wanting to reconnect with Leon to find out about where he is for a third party. I just hope it doesn't go south for Cruz and the whole of 51. MiladyEly: I am not sure what he is hiding but I hope it won’t backfire on Cruz. LauM79: Freddy hiding something rare. Cruz should stay away. michelleqpeter2: I don't know but something bad is probably going to happen to Cruz or Freddie and that won't be good. kwanfan1212: I have no idea what he’s hiding but he makes me nervous. I think he really does want to get out of the gang but I definitely agree that there’s something he’s not telling Cruz.
Tumblr media
Q3. Patterson has worn out his welcome and others are seeing the trouble. What do you think should happen to him? lantetrain: I think he should be transferred out and put in another house and maybe strip of his rank or be held accountable. Sharkygirl: He needs to explain himself! And try to make amends. (From the looks of it he does seem remorseful) Nikita_Citizen: He should get sucked into a tornado, LOL That's all that came to mind! sarrabr_4: I think that with the information the Kelly had on him, he should really think where his loyalties lie because what Kelly did was a huge judge of his character, but I know that won't last long because I just think Patterson will come back with a vengeance. I just hope Benny kept a copy of those files. MiladyEly: He is still a dickhead and I still want him to leave. His sappy story didn't make me find him less of a dickhead ;) I just hope he leaves very very soon. LauM79: Patterson must go now! His presence brought chaos. michelleqpeter2: I think he needs to leave and maybe be stripped of his rank so he is knocked down a couple pegs. kwanfan1212: He’s gotta go. At this point in time, I don’t even care how it happens but he’s making things miserable for everyone in the house now and I’m tired of it. I still don’t know if he’s just an attention seeking climber only out for himself or if he’s working with Riddle to take out Boden specifically. I really don’t know at this point...he just bugs me. Time to go!
Tumblr media
Q4. Benny Severide came back tonight w/ interesting Intel on Patterson. Did you agree with Sev’s decision about using it? lantetrain: Yes & no!! Yes Kelly did the right thing which he can live with it & hooked because come on, Benny came in to help his boy Kelly. Sharkygirl: I was hoping it was info on Riddle, but I'm glad Kelly didn't use the info against Patterson. Nikita_Citizen: Absolutely. Even though Benny pushed him into revealing Patterson's past, I'm glad he asked Matt & Gabby for advice and took that advice. He showed that he's the bigger man. sarrabr_4: I really liked how Kelly went to both Dawson and Casey about what he had and the fact that what Casey possibly said weighed in the balance of his decision, goes to show the dynamic these three have but like the previous question, I hope Kelly made a copy or at least Benny just in case it backfires on them. MiladyEly: It was nice to see Benny again and him helping Kelly out. LauM79: Yes!! Kelly will use all necessary measures to recover its place and save Boden. michelleqpeter2: I agree somewhat with his choice not to use it, he took the high road but if he didn't, no more Patterson. kwanfan1212: Kelly wouldn’t have been himself if he had chosen to use that info against Patterson but I also wouldn’t have blamed if he had chosen to use it. Patterson has made Kelly’s life miserable for a while now so his growing frustration would have made sense. I’m glad he was the bigger man though...now Patterson needs to respond to that and start treating Kelly better.
Tumblr media
Q5. Otis had quite the episode tonight which ended w/ him spending time with Sylvie. What do you think of the two of them?   lantetrain: I really like them and have since the beginning. They are just so cute together. Nikita_Citizen: I love both characters and I think they're cute. They don't annoy me as much as Jimmy & Chili. I just want to see where that goes but I don't think it's gonna last though. sarrabr_4: I think they would go well together but I'd very much like them to develop a friendship because that would give them a bigger depth in that relationship. We haven't had real genuine friendship (In my opinion, even if Crotis is pretty solid) since Shay and Dawson and I would like to see that happen between the two of them. MiladyEly: Hmmm....again somebody in the house? Again romance in the house? I am not a fan. Not with Dawsey already there and barfy Chili and Jimmy. Does every girl need to date in the firehouse? Nah, I am not a fan at all. LauM79: I do not like this situation at all. Otis must take care of his friendship with Cruz and not put his eyes on Brett. michelleqpeter2: I think he is risking damaging his friendship with Cruz. kwanfan1212: I was actually rooting for Otis and Sylvie back when she first showed up in S3 (I thought they had a great chemistry) but now that she’s dated Cruz, it makes things a little more difficult because of the Crotis friendship. I really do think that Sylvie and Otis could be fun togehter (they seem to have a lot in common) but I don’t want anything to happen to Crotis either so I don’t know where this is gonna go. =P
Tumblr media
Q6. Dawsey wasn’t on the forefront but had some great little moments tonight. Which one was your favorite? lantetrain: First of all, I love them all. Who wouldn't? Dawsey feels were on fire even though it was short but my fave has to be when Gabby said to Matt in his office after Kelly left, "That’s why I love you." **Dead** Nikita_Citizen: Everything! Matt defending Gabby & being protective and Gabby saying to Matt, "That's why I love you" Oh the feels! sarrabr_4: I really think that it's the little quiet moments that count for the couple right now but you can see them getting stronger. For sure I would have loved to have a real gala moment between the two (to show their evolution since S1's gala) but that moment in the conference room with Patterson, that one was really good. She stood up for the whole house and in turn he stood up for her when Patterson was getting intense. MiladyEly: All of them but I loved Matt being all protective. LauM79: I'm not Dawsey's fan but I like Dawsey and Severide walking together! michelleqpeter2: Favorite Dawsey scene was Casey defending her to Patterson and the finger pointing was back. kwanfan1212: I loved the moment in Matt’s office when Gabby said “That’s why I love you” but that scene of them walking with Severide was really great too. It was playful, humorous, and pleasant as they all talked about how to deal with Patterson. I noticed the look that Sev gave Dawsey as they were joking about Gabby’s “Riddle-Patterson Unholy Alliance” theory and it appeared to me like he was finally feeling hopeful that his friends were going to be okay after their sadness over the baby. I loved that scene so much! =)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Q7. What was your favorite scene from Sharp Elbows? Least favorite scene? Did anything special stick out to you? lantetrain: Fave scene has got to be Gabby calling out Patterson in the board room. Damn, Gabby was bad ass! Love it. Least fave: nothing Nikita_Citizen: Everyone having a drink with Chief Boden at the gala & supporting him. They're a family and no one is gonna change that. And Gabby confronting Patterson, we know she's a badass, so it was great to see that again. Less interested in the Freddy/Cruz storyline in this episode and nothing sticks out to me. sarrabr_4: As always, I have a few favourite scenes but I'll just pick two. That scene when Patterson and Gabby interact together was really good. I mean just the way she's being all professional with him, knowing that he's probably fishing for something to use against her, I loved that. And the other one was the way 51 stood up for their chief at the gala, speaks to how much they love Boden and stand by him no matter what. Least favourite one has to be Boden getting practically by force by that idiot officer but the scene where Voight comes in was worth it in the end. MiladyEly: Although I had wished the gala scene was longer, I liked that they all stood with the chief. It shows what a close family the firehouse is again. LauM79: Fave Scene: All united around Boden in the gala. Least scene: Otis with Brett. Special Stick: Calls were very exciting!! michelleqpeter2: Favorite scene was Gabby calling out Patterson. Least favorite was Patterson going after her. kwanfan1212: Fave Scene: Sev walking with Dawsey up to the firehouse and the house standing up for the Chief at the Gala. Least Fave: Boden getting harrassed by that officer guy. What a tool.
Tumblr media
Boden and Voight - An Offer He Can’t Refuse?
So Boden is having a rough time with this whole Serena situation but suddenly he has a very powerful ally in his corner who could help him out if he doesn’t mind things getting a little dirty. I appreciate that Boden is being honorable and hoping that the truth comes out in the end, but I think we all agree that it’s not always that simple so it’s not a bad thing that Voight has his back and is more than willing to help out. His presense alone could make a big difference!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gabriela Dawson - Character Growth
So Gabriela Dawson has a bit of sass in her and definitely doesn’t always control her filter or temper but in a nice turn of events and a really nice show of growth for the character, Gabby had the following interaction with Patterson that showed just how far she’s come since Season 1. The S1 Gabby would have hung Patterson out to dry and left nothing unsaid but this Gabby knows when to keep her mouth shut. We all loved this scene because it showed Gabby still has her sass but that she’s also come a long way since S1....
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...but Gabby also knows when to stand up for something important. She wasn’t afraid to point out how Patterson has treated everyone at 51 and it brought out the true nature of the captain too. Just to compare these two moments, here’s some GIFs of when Gabby confronted Patterson and the awesome Dawsey moment it brought on when Matt stood up for her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Severide and Patterson - The Bigger Man
It would have been SO easy for Sev to use that information that Benny gave him on Patterson but it’s totally not his style to do that sort of thing, so none of us were surprised when Sev decided to be the bigger man and gave it back to Patterson. This conversation at the end of the ep was very telling and now we’ll have to wait to see how Patterson responds to Sev’s actions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dawsey - Friendships and Continued Healing
Dawsey scenes seem to be few and far between right now for some reason (hi writers...you still owe us for kiling Baby Dawsey, time to start paying up) but it was great seeing their friendship with Severide be front and center a bit this week. This scene of them walking up to the house was adorable and definitely showed that their continued healing from losing the baby is coming along well....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
....and this scene of Sev coming to them with the silver bullet on Patterson and asking for advice about using it was fabulous too. Their friendship is so great and I like that it had some screentime this week. Sev knows his friends have his back and that has to make him feel good knowing that they’re there for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then in the midst of a great friendship moment between Sev and Matt & Gabby, we get what was the sweetest Dawsey moment of the entire episode. Gabby knows her man so well and then he just went and exemplified everything that she loves the most about him. <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This Family is Strong, Fierce, and Ready to Fight
I don’t think I need to talk much about this scene; the GIFs of it speak for themselves. This family is STRONG and they’re not about to let Riddle tear them all apart. The solidarity they all showed here was AWESOME. <3

IT’S GOING DOWN NEXT WEEK! =O
Thanks once again for reading this week’s round table! We only have two eps left before the holiday break and I think they’re really gonna make them count. This season has been really solid overall IMO and I can’t wait to see what’s coming up next! =)

Chicago Fire Round Table S4: Regarding This Wedding
Hello everyone and welcome to the next (much happier) installment of our Chicago Fire Round Table! Thank goodness this week’s blog will not be as emotionally draining as last week’s since I really don’t want to make a habit out of that, LOL ;) This week’s episode, “Regarding This Wedding”, was a charming, funny, heartfelt, powerful, and engaging episode and there was a lot to talk about for sure. Before we get into the discussion for this week, I haven’t posted a video here in a while and one of my favorite video makers, Epic Love, made an AMAZING Dawsey video after last week’s episode that I thought I would share with you guys. Have Kleenex handy if you cry a lot, like me, LOL =)

PSA: Reminder that all the GIFs, videos, and pictures used in this blog were made by other amazing people and not by me and as I always do, I wanna give a BIG shout out and THANK YOU to the awesome folks who make all these lovely things for us to enjoy!! =D
Congrats to @texterlover who won this week’s 1st Responder Award! It was a battle to the end this week as she was barely faster than two other people. Good luck to the panel for next week’s award and keep this stuff up because it keeps me on my toes, LOL =)

DISCUSSION
Q1. The wedding at the firehouse ending up being beautiful. Which wedding moment at the house was your favorite? lantetrain: Brett singing at the wedding was beautiful, who knew Kara could sing, and of course that Dawsey moment. Sharkygirl: The Dawsey moment when they look at each other. #ThatIsAll WhitAdamson: Fave moment had to be the Dawsey scene (although I loved Sev reassuring Gabby with the shoulder grab - love that friendship), so small and yet so sweet. Really shows them as a couple and why we all fell in love with them from day one! hai02lin: The whole thing was sweet. I don't think I had a favorite moment. Nikita_Citizen: I loved it all! The Chaplain's words during the ceremony, Dawsey holding hands, Brett singing... it was just beautiful & really well written. I just wish it was a bit longer. GinaWatchesTV: The actual ceremony. Just 51 doing 51 things. karen1948: My favorite wedding moment was Gabby and Matt holding hands looking into each other's eyes! That moment said so much without them saying anything; it was truly a beautiful moment! Texterlover: Either Sylvie singing or the #Dawsey hand holding looking into each other’s eyes moment. MiladyEly: When Gabby and Matt grabbed each other and looked at each other during the wedding. I think it was what all Dawsey fans needed after last week! kwanfan1212: The GIF below was my favorite moment of the wedding followed closely by the beautiful song that Sylvie/Kara sang for the ceremony. *Dawsey feels* =)
Tumblr media
Q2. Dawsey’s heartbreak was magnified by Riddle’s judgement of Gabby’s decisions. Did you agree with how she handled it?   lantetrain: Love how Gabby handled Riddle there, she was bad ass and not taking any crap from no one. Can't wait for more of this. Sharkygirl: Absolutely! She's allowed to handle her grief any way she's comfortable! WhitAdamson: I do agree with it, he had no right to ask her those questions or question her ability to work. If the doctors cleared her that’s all he needs to know, and the personal details of her pregnancy are none of his business. hai02lin: I would say yes and no also. He is an ass, but he is her superior and she could tone it down a bit. Nikita_Citizen: Riddle was way out of line & I understand Gabby's anger because she was right; it was sexist, he wouldn't have said that to a man. I love how she stood up to him without being disrespectful. It was more than inappropriate to treat her like he did after what she's been through. I can't wait for their next confrontation & I wish that Casey confronted him. GinaWatchesTV: She should've been angrier! Riddle was so far out of line. I'm pretty sure his convo with her was illegal on MANY levels. karen1948: I did, if she didn't defend herself who would have! It could have been a lot worse if Gabby didn't control her temp! But he had no reason to ask who the father of her child was! Texterlover: Yes and no. Yes because she's a bad ass, but no because he is still her superior. MiladyEly: Don’t want to say yes or no. Yes, she has the right to be angry and no because he is still her superior. Sometimes it is better to keep your mouth shut, even if you are angry. kwanfan1212: This is tough but I think she did a great job handling it and I completely agree with everything she said to him. She tried to be nice and polite with Riddle at first, but after he started being sexist and condesending to her, she really had to restrain herself from losing her temper altogether. Honestly, I was worried she would’ve reacted more strongly than she did so while I don’t agree with anyone being disrespectful to a superior officer, in this case, he was disrespectful to her first so I have no problem with her making her point as firmly as she did and pointing out his hypocrisy. That asshat deserved worse to be honest! Glad I’m not the only one who wanted Casey to get a crack at him, LOL ;)
Tumblr media
Q3. Severide didn’t react well when Riddle kept his Lt. rank away from him but now wants to fight for his job back. Thoughts on this story? lantetrain: I felt bad for Kelly and what's he's going through, but I love how fired up he is and that he finally got his fire and badass back. It was lacking since Shay’s death. Sharkygirl: I hate that Riddle is gunning for him like this! WhitAdamson: I like that even though he did the training, he still stood up to Riddle. He could have easily lied and said he didn't agree with Boden but that wouldn't be Sev. Always doing the right thing, no matter what the cost. I don’t mind this story because I know he will get his Lt. badge back! hai02lin: I love Severide and more power to him. Can't wait to see how he gets his job back. Nikita_Citizen: Severide had every right to be upset and like Boden said he was collateral damage. It's so unfair what's happening to him but now he is more determined than ever to get his lieutenancy back. GinaWatchesTV: He's getting back to normal! That's the Severide we know and love, and Riddle and Patterson are about to regret messing w/ him. They violated the unofficial #1 rule of CF: you NEVER give up on Kelly Severide! karen1948: This to me is a crazy storyline and I don't like it one bit! He should fight for his rank, he deserves it! Texterlover: Honestly I feel bad for Severide. He did exactly what they told him and he thought Patterson had his back but he doesn't. MiladyEly: I hope he gets back in his old position soon. I am sure it is going to happen this week and I am excited to see how it is going to happen! kwanfan1212: I’m glad to see Severide ready to fight for his job back. He tried playing by the rules and doing everything that they wanted him to do and that didn’t work. Now he’s ready to do whatever it takes to prove that he should be reinstated as Lt. and I cannot wait for it. Bring it Severide! =)
Quick Poll: Is the below GIF Gabby or Monica making the flourishy motion as Severide leaves Boden’s office??! I LOVE IT, LMAO ;)
Tumblr media
Q4. Riddle’s vendetta against House 51 came to a head tonight but Chief wasn’t having any of it. Did you agree with Boden’s decisions? lantetrain: I agree with Boden tonite. He was stuck in a hard place but he came through when it matters most. Love me some Boden. WhitAdamson: Absolutely! Boden will always do whatever it takes to protect this house! And Boden is right, if Riddle has a problem with him, he shouldn't take it out on his house (i.e. Gabby and Sev). We all know what happens when you try and take 51 from Boden and it never ends well for the other guy! hai02lin: Sure! It was a little contrived, but it was entertaining. Nikita_Citizen: Of course! Boden always does the right thing even if it means getting into trouble. GinaWatchesTV: I sure do. Boden doesn't take any crap! karen1948: Yes I did agree with what Chief did! Boden and 51 is about family…Riddle is not! Texterlover: Yes. Boden needed to have a backbone and stand up for fifty one which he did. MiladyEly: Yes, I am glad Boden stays Boden. I just hope this storyline is over soon since it is basically McLeod all over again. Except this McLeod is older and male. But yeah, we have seen it before. kwanfan1212: I totally agree with Boden. He is NOT about to let a guy like Riddle mess up his house and I cannot wait for Riddle to get what’s coming to him. Take him down Chief and make it extremely painful!

Q5. Chili and Jimmy seem to be hitting it off and shared a kiss tonight. What’s your verdict on them together so far? lantetrain: Verdict on Chili and Jimmy is I love them and think they are cute and adorable. Reminds me of Gabby and Matt back in the pilot episode and S1 so I say bring on #Chirelli. Sharkygirl: Meh. I like them both individually, but didn't see a spark with them together. WhitAdamson: I love them together! Something about her sorded past and his young eagerness to learn. I love them together, and I think they would be a great ship for the show! Just don’t get married before our Dawsey! hai02lin: Meh! I don't like Chili this year. There's something about her acting that is off. I do like Jimmy, so we'll see. Nikita_Citizen: I like Jimmy but I've never been a big fan of Chili so I was mostly annoyed by their scenes & didn't watch that. I don't know, it feels rushed. GinaWatchesTV: Weird. Jimmy literally spent the episode saying "Hmm- your viewpoints on everything are the POLAR OPPOSITE from mine. COOL!" Uhhhh... pretty sure that's not how it works... karen1948: I'm not feeling Chili this season and I do not ship them. Texterlover: I like them together. They seem like a cute couple that compliments each other. I also liked when Steven aka Jimmy had no shirt on lol MiladyEly: I like Chili, didn’t really have an opinion on Jimmy yet, but I don’t know about their romance. Do we really need another romance in the firehouse? I don’t think so. Again, we have seen it before, it is the candidate that goes with an EMT, sounds familiar? Yeah, Dawson and Mills in season 1. I don’t know, I don’t think the show needed their romance. kwanfan1212: I am not feeling Jimmy and Chili yet but I don’t hate it either. I really like Jimmy but I want to see more of his training times with Casey than I want to see him involved in what seems like a dead end romance with a character that I am not feeling as much this season.

Q6. We’ve had a lot of the ChiMed cast included in the CF stories so far this season. Are you ready for them to tone that down once Med starts?   lantetrain: Yes, definitely hoping they tone down the Med appearing on Fire because too much is not a good thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm so looking forward to Med. Sharkygirl: Oh God yes please! When they did it w/ PD I would actually roll my eyes and leave the room. WhitAdamson: I personally don’t mind it. I was rewatching season 1 and 2 of Fire recently and Antonio and others were actually on Fire quite a bit right before CPD aired. Probably trying to promote the show, it never seemed forced, and I don’t think having Will on does either. I do think it will die down when Med starts, but I don’t mind seeing him now. hai02lin: I can't wait for Med, so the hospital scenes don't bother me. Will is really growing on me so I don't mind seeing him. Nikita_Citizen: YES! I love seeing Nick Gehlfuss because I love Will Halstead but even for me it was too much. We're gonna see him in Chicago Med soon, which I'm really excited about, so enough of that & more CF characters. I wonder if they're hinting at a possible romance between Will & Sylvie, they're always in the same scenes. GinaWatchesTV: I've been ready for them to tone it down for a while now. WE GET IT. THERE'S A THIRD SHOW COMING. You can stop now. It's getting to a point now where I want to Photoshop Will into the cast photos for ALL of the shows. Like... stop it. karen1948: Yes I am. I watch Chicago Fire for those characters, not PD or Med. Once in a while is ok but not every episode. Texterlover: Yes and no. I like them being there but at the same time I think it should be more about Fire storylines on Fire and Med storylines on Med. MiladyEly: YES. YES. Oh I think I forgot to mention. YES. I am going to watch Med but this week’s med scene got a bit ridiculous. I get that they want to promote Med but it was going a bit far and going on really long. I am ready to Med on Med and Fire while I am watching Fire. ;) kwanfan1212: I’ll just let this GIF of Jasmine and Raja tell you how I feel about the extreme overuse of the ChiMed characters, especially Will, on CF so far this year. Seriously, I plan to watch the show when it debuts but OMG, talk about overkill. I’m done. Give me more CF character focus please. =P

Q7. What was your favorite scene from Regarding This Wedding? Least favorite scene? Did anything special stick out to you? lantetrain: Favorite scenes or moments from tonite’s episode was everything. I really loved everything. It was filled with humor, drama, sadness, and romance. A winning combination and I can't wait till next week. WhitAdamson: Favorite scene was probably the last scene at Molly’s, I loved seeing Sev and Casey together and hearing Sev say he wouldn't back down. Or any subtle Dawsey scene! Least fave was Riddle with Gabby, I love that Gabby stood up to him but that Riddle just rubs me the wrong way! hai02lin: Well, I have to love Dawsey at the wedding holding hands... Nikita_Citizen: The Dawsey moment at the wedding! What a surprise! LOL These two have so much chemistry that they don't need to speak any words. I mean the way they were staring at each other and holding hands like if they were holding onto each other... (I wanted more Dawsey and more Matt & Gabby dealing with the loss; it's like they're moving on too fast). The comedy moments with the Chaplain were also my favorites. Hilarious! And Gabby standing up to Riddle. Love badass Gabby. Least favorite: All the Jimmy/Chili moments. GinaWatchesTV: Least favorite was the big Med sequence towards the end. Not sure I have a favorite. It was just an overall solid episode. If anything special stuck out to me, it was Sev's little shoulder grab with Gabby during the ceremony. Love those two. karen1948: Favorite scene #Dawsey at wedding! Least Fave: Any scene with Riddle in it. The scene that stuck out to me is the look Casey gave Riddle when he came into the common room and the look he gave him as he drunk his coffee! If looks could kill! Texterlover: Loved the Dawsey scenes of course, you know me too well. I don't like Riddle and Patterson is starting to get to me. He's the bad guy we love to hate. Also Chaplain drunk and that ambo call were priceless. MiladyEly: The small Dawsey moment during the wedding because it was subtle, it was just perfect, after the drama last week. Chaplain drunk and later snoring in the office - priceless! kwanfan1212: I loved the Dawsey moment at the wedding just as many of us did but I think my favorite moment from the entire episode was the below moment when Angry Casey came out and stared daggers at Riddle when he came to the firehouse. I love me some Angry Casey, especially when he’s angry because his woman got treated badly! Least Fave: Probably Chili & Jimmy only because I’m not feeling them yet. Thing I missed but was pointed out to me later was Severide teasing Dawsey when they were all sitting down for the wedding (looked like he was telling them, “You’re next”). I totally missed that the first time and I have no idea if it was scripted or not but it was adorable! =)

Chief Riddle - Asshat is Too Nice of a Term for Him
So I think we’ve all said our peace about how much we hate Riddle at this point but this scene, when he became a sexist, condescending pig towards Gabby, was probably the tipping point for everyone about that asshat. Gabby is absolutely right with what she said (I’m glad she didn’t lose her temper more than she did because asshat or not, he’s still her superior officer) and I’m glad that she told him exactly how she felt about it. I think we’re ALL ready for Severide and the rest of the house to fight this guy with everything they’ve got and teach him what happens when you mess around with this family.

Chief Riddle missed Rule #714 of this house....you really don’t wanna piss off Gabriela Dawson! YOU GO GIRL. ;)
Gabby’s Return to 51 and Her Emotional Curve Ball
Girl, we feel your pain here. It’s heart breaking to see Gabby so emotionally raw and once again, I have to commend Monica Raymund for portraying Gabby’s sadness in such a real and broken way. Gabby had it all planned out for them and she was SO happy about it. Everything was going to be great, they would be this little family, and then, without any warning or answers as to why, it was just gone....
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*tear* Heartbreaking. I’m glad the show didn’t gloss over Gabby’s sadness about the baby when they had her go back to work because I was honestly worried about how they were going to do this story. The rest of her speech is just as heartbreaking as she laments how much pain she’s all ready been through and her wish for a few more straight lines...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gabby, we join you in hoping that you and Matt get a few less curve balls this year, especially as you heal from your loss. <3
Knowing that Gabby was still feeling emotional over her and Matt’s loss, it was very apparent when she returned to House 51 that she was going to do everything she could to throw herself into work to take her mind off the pain but I loved Hermann’s reaction to her. He was excited to have her back but also gave her a big but gentle hug, kind of like a proud and supportive father which was a nice touch after his amazing speech to her last week.

Jimmy & Chili - Haven’t We Seen This Before? More Teaching Instead!
We are currently split on whether or not we like Chili and Jimmy as a couple. They sure seem like Millson part two (eager candidate starts flirting with and eventually dates the PIC on Ambo 61...don’t get me started on how much I didn’t care for the Millson relationship, LOL) but this time around, it almost feels more forced on the audience. We’ll see where they go with things but as someone who really likes Jimmy but hasn’t been feeling Chili as much this season, count me as one who isn’t sure this relationship is gonna keep my attention.
Tumblr media
I personally would much rather see more of those Casey & Jimmy teaching moments at work and Jimmy learning from and looking up to Casey at the house. That relationship is awesome (it is SO apparent that Jimmy has a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for his Lt.) and I feel like Jimmy is exactly how Casey was when he was a young candidate trying to learn and absorb everything around him. This stry would also be great for Casey to help take his mind off losing the baby with Gabby and allow him to focus on something happy in his life. Let’s see more of that please! =)

“When You Say Nothing at All”
Sometimes there’s a moment during CF, a moment that just grabs you and takes hold of your heart, one that you can’t help thinking about long after the episode is over. This week’s episode had one of those moments that made us all melt into puddles. Everyone in the panel mentioned this moment in some way, shape, or form during our discussion and clearly it was meant to send a message. That moment? The Dawsey scene during the wedding. One thing we were all wondering about after last week’s sadness was how they were gonna handle this story going forward for Gabby & Matt, both individually and seperately, and if this scene is any indication, this may not be the last moment that takes our breath away for Dawsey this season. They didn’t have a lot of personal interactions during this episode, which was slightly frustrating for fans after last week’s huge storyline, but one moment, the one in the GIFs below, at the wedding changed our minds in a hurry. Gabby is doing everything she can to try to be normal again by going back to work and throwing herself into the wedding stuff, while Matt is watching her actions carefully and trying not to run Riddle over with his truck, but this moment, this quiet moment, we see two people sitting there happy to be together but also remembering what they’ve lost and clinging to each other as they continue to try and move past losing their baby. It’s an amazing moment and shows how much chemistry these two actors have even without dialogue. Thinking more about this scene, it hit me how much these song lyrics apply to Dawsey right now:
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me There's a truth in your eyes sayin' you'll never leave me The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall You say it best when you say nothing at all
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now I need Kleenex again. *goes to blow her nose* =P
Preview for Next Week
So the battle between Severide and Patterson is about to hit the fan in the next episode and we’re ALL waiting for Severide to finally smack down some bad apples in the CFD. I think I speak for everyone in the panel when I put this GIF here....BRING IT ON.

Thanks for reading this week’s round table and I hope you’ll join us again for our discussion about the next episode. Have an awesome week everyone! =)

Chicago Fire Round Table S4: Your Day is Coming
Welcome to the latest edition of the Chicago Fire Round Table. I’m gonna be perfectly honest with all of you right now when I say that I have NOT wanted to do this week’s round table at all this week. I spent most of the week depressed, mad, heartbroken, upset, frustrated, and confused about the most recent CF episode, “Your Day is Coming”, and putting that into words was not something I thought I could handle (I tend to cry over everything, on TV or in real life, so you can imagine how hard I took this week’s episode). This awesome CF panel wanted to share their thoughts about the episode though so I still got the questions out and we have an amazing collection of answers for you all to read. I also spent some time away this weekend which helped a lot although I’m still gonna be teary looking at all these GIFs again. At any rate, I’ve come to the conclusion that writing this blog is the only way I might be able to put this entire emotional episode behind me and maybe find some peace about a story that I haven’t taken very well. (Personal Story: A couple in my small group suffered a miscarriage about a month ago and we all cried with them at our meeting that week. It was so hard for all of us to see them hurting. This Dawsey story hit me a lot harder because of that and then I found out how many people I know have suffered similar experiences as Gabby and well, again, I cry at everything so you can imagine the mess I’ve been this week!)
Tumblr media
Anyhway, first things first, congrats to @GinaWatchesTV for winning this week’s 1st Responder Award! She answered the questions before I even got the final tweet out that they were all posted to my timeline, LOL ;)

NOTE: All the GIFs and images used in this blog were made by other awesome people and are not mine. THANK YOU as always to the wonderfully talented people out there who make all these lovely things. Also, a few of the regular panelists for these RTs either had a hard time responding and chose not to or just didn’t get around to answering but they promised to be back next week. =)
DISCUSSION
Q1. Dawsey broke our hearts tonight w/ Gabby losing the baby. Do you still feel hopeful about them after this tragedy? lantetrain: First off, I was an emotional wreck after Gabby losing the baby but I was blown away by both Monica and Jesse’s acting tonite and it showed how strong Dawsey are and that they will get over this and be stronger than ever and still be together and now that they had a taste of what could be, they will no doubt try for it again and I can't wait. Never getting off this train. Nikita_Citizen: I'm still hopeful about them of course. We don't need more proof about how strong their love is, Casey being so scared of losing Gabby & being strong for her in that difficult moment, and Gabby not only crying because she lost the baby but also because she was heartbroken that she couldn't give him what he always wanted (at least that's how I see it)... they'll get through this without a doubt and that sweet moment in the end shows that perfectly. GinaWatchesTV: I know they'll stay together. I'm just disappointed that they chickened out with the #DawseyBaby. So now they're kinda the new Burzek. Like no matter what the other ships are doing, we're gonna have them being all shippy. karen1948: Yes #Dawsey is breaking our hearts this week! It was such an emotional episode! I'm so hoping they will become strong after this disaster! They have been through so much. It's time for them to be happy for more than six months. sarrabr_4: I was always hopeful for them, even before the great news and even after the bad one of losing a baby. Ultimately, it's what makes them relatable. A relationship is never meant to be perfect all the time. You go through hardships and great moments and yes they lost the baby but it happens in real life and it's sad but they'll be able to move forward together and get stronger before they get their happy ending. carliemazer: I am still very hopeful and positive for Dawsey! I truly believe this whole experience will bring them closer together and they will flourish as a couple. Like Casey said, they got back together because they love each other, and not because of the baby. It will be good for them. Everything happens for a reason and I believe they will be great together. Even Haas said they are a strong couple! :) MiladyEly: Although it was really heart breaking and I am sure it will take them a while to get through this, I am sure they will only get out stronger and I still feel like they will be parents one day in the show. kwanfan1212: I think it’s fairly obvious that this story affected me a great deal but I am still hopeful for Dawsey even through my sadness. This will definitely make them stronger in the long run and hopefully it allows them to really lean on each other through future hard times. They were SO happy and then it all came crashing down. Monica & Jesse were OUTSTANDING and that’s what made me cry harder...they really nailed those emotions. I agree with Nikita that Gabby’s heartbreak wasn’t just for losing the baby but that she couldn’t give Matt his ultimate dream of having a family. They’re gonna get through this and be SO much stronger from it. My only worry is that the writers don’t allow Dawsey to have that family and we end up waiting for nothing (I’m a bit weary of the writers now to be honest). If this show ends someday with Dawsey never having a baby, I will be inconsolable because that would be SO unfair.

Q2. Severide helped out w/ the arson case but Duff ended up being the culprit. Thoughts on how that story turned out?   lantetrain: First, I really thought it was going to be Suzie as the culprit but I'm very shocked and surprise it was Duffy of all people. It was Severide’s old family friend, who would of thought, and it just broke me how even through all this Kelly stepped up and he did his job and showed why he's a leader and even though Duffy betrayed him, Kelly saved him anyways. I can't wait to see the fallout next week. Nikita_Citizen: I found this storyline very sad. I mean Duffy was like an uncle, a father figure to Severide. He's not a bad person, he made a mistake. I really liked Duffy. I wish he wasn't the culprit. I was heartbroken for Kelly, being betrayed once again. I'm glad he could save him because I don't think he would have recovered from that, he was on the edge of another self-destructive spiral. GinaWatchesTV: THAT IS THE FIRE WE KNOW AND LOVE. More of that and less of Severide acting like a frat boy, please. karen1948: I was totally surprised it was Duffy! Kelly was so hurt that it was him! I'm happy that the storyline ended! sarrabr_4: Ok so first of all...I was onto him (last week’s question hihi). I was hoping it wasn't him but after the way he was with Severide at the hospital, it was pretty clear that it was him. He tried to do the right thing and he struggled and lost, having money problems to solve. I'm happy that Kelly saved him from the water so they can go through with the investigation and bring closure to everyone. carliemazer: I've had a bad feeling about the whole arson SL from the start and I knew something was up between Duffy and the redhead. I love how Sev reached out to him and showed him love and forgiveness even when he knew he was wrong. I feel like Patterson seeing Sev so selflessly act to save someone he cares for will beneficial for him. Or it could turn badly on him. Who knows with this show, right? MiladyEly: The bridge scene was awesome but other than I am just happy it is solved. Wasn’t too impressed with it except for the bridge scene. Taylor Kinney killed that scene. kwanfan1212: Severide has such a great heart and it broke my heart to see that it was his old friend Duff who stole the files. I understand that people go through hard times but someone being desperate enough to cross that line into doing something illegal made me sad. I hope they don’t drop this part of the story all together but show Sev helping his old friend find his way again.

Q3. House 51 really did redefine what family is tonight. What part of their experiences tonight was your favorite? lantetrain: My favorite part of that was Hermann’s speeches to them and everything else. It's makes me so happy and giddy and wanting more. Nikita_Citizen: The hospital scenes, just seeing the whole firehouse being there for them & supporting them, it's always so touching. Also Hermann's toast in honor of Gabby, saying he'd give up a million Molly's for one Gabby Dawson & when he comforted her with such beautiful words "I got a family I never imagined, including one more girl that I didn't expect, and she came to me full grown. She's strong and brave and courageous and really special, and I love her like my own, and someday she's gonna make a great mom" Yes I'm crying... GinaWatchesTV: The Hermann speech is the only thing that kept me from throwing my phone at the TV. karen1948: I really can't pick one thing! House 51 is so amazing at coming together when they need too! They may fight or argue sometimes but that's what a real family does! sarrabr_4: For sure the whole family coming together for Matt and Gabby, even Cindy Hermann (which we don't see enough of btw) is seeing them like never before. They always rally around each other and always come out stronger. The fact that Jimmy got involved for Molly's, even after being in 51 for only a short time, goes to show how being in 51 is having the best family because you just want to be a part of it. carliemazer: This is the number 1 reason I love this show so much. They are a FAMILY and they love each other so much. The way they all rally together (kinda like us on Twitter ;) ) is so inspiring and shows how close they are. They were all at the hospital to show support to Gabby and show her that they love her. When they heard the terrible news, their faces showed their disappointment and pain for Gabby and Matt. I just love this show and these people so much I have so much to say. MiladyEly: That they support and help each other through everything. Cindy bringing them food at the hospital showed that the family is so big and cares so much. kwanfan1212: This house is amazing. Just when you think they’re the tightest familly unit out there, something like this tragedy comes along and you realize that the bond is actually even stronger. I loved that Jimmy wanted to help even though he hasn’t been there very long yet and I loved that Patterson saw the strong family aspect too. I wanted to find and use a GIF here of the house finding out about Dawsey losing the baby but I couldn’t look at their faces so sad again. =(

Q4. Hermann as Lt. this shift and just him in general….how awesome was he in this entire episode?   lantetrain: HERMANN WAS DA MAN TONITE!!! LIKE SERIOUSLY THIS MAN KEEPS GIVING ME ALL THESE FEELS AND HOW HE IS THE SOUL OF THE FIREHOUSE. Like 51 will be over if anything happen to Hermann. He's the heart and soul of firehouse and I love how he know to say the right things. Give me more please. Nikita_Citizen: He's so fantastic in that role. How come we don't see that more often? I mean I know why, he can't be transferred to another house, but it's a shame because he shines no matter what, he's a leader. GinaWatchesTV: He didn't do much till his speech. But the speech was solid. karen1948: Hermann was simply amazing this episode! He showed that he can be an amazing Lt and he's a very loving and compassionate person! sarrabr_4: Ok so Herrmann...what can I say?? It's not just this episode but ALL THE TIME. It's no wonder he's my favourite after Dawsey because he's the father figure and he ALWAYS has the right thing to say for EVERY and ANY situation. He's the one who rallied 51 together for Gabby and Matt and stood up to lead when things got rough and it also helps that I love the relationship he has with Boden as well. And don't get me started on the two speeches he delivered in the episode. carliemazer: HERMANN. My man! I love Hermann so much. He is the daddy of Firehouse 51. The one person everyone can go to without the fear of being judged. He is ALWAYS there for his fellow family members and I truly admire him for that. My favorite quote of the night: "I'd give up a million Molly's for one Gabby Dawson". And when he said she was like a daughter to him and went on to talk about how he and Cindy lost a baby. It was all just so real and raw and I can't say enough good things about Herrmann from this episode. MiladyEly: I can’t even find words to describe how I feel about Hermann this week. I have always liked him but he was just so true and heartfelt this episode. kwanfan1212: Hermann certainly has his failed businesses and he’s not always the most subtle at times, but he has a heart the size of the ocean and just when the house seems to really need it, that heart comes out and makes everyone take notice. This was one of those episodes and from leading the team in Casey’s absence, to the awesome rallying of the team to support Dawsey in their heartbreak, right up to the amazing message he gave to Gabby...Hermann was a gem. I adore him. <3

Q5. Patterson really stepped up tonight. Do you feel differently about him now after seeing him react to everything?   lantetrain: In tonight’s episode Patterson was actually likable to me. He realized what we've all know since the pilot, this house is not only a firehouse, it's a family, and it's the best place to work, but going by next week’s promo my thoughts on Patterson might change but for now he was likable. Nikita_Citizen: Since the premiere, I want him to be one of the good guys & I feel like he is. His speech to Boden proves that being around great people can change your perspectives. I just hope he's not gonna blow that. Unfortunately, I have the feeling he will. GinaWatchesTV: Nope. Still can't stand him and truthfully can't wait for him to leave. karen1948: I do feel a bit different about Patterson during this episode but there is something about him that rubs me the wrong way! sarrabr_4: I'm still not quite sure about how I feel about Patterson. For sure you saw him step up, back up 51, and after seeing all of that realized that 51 was a family and family sticks together. I just hope that will help later on in the next episodes (like it did with Welch last season) but I'll give him a chance and keep watching to see him evolve). carliemazer: I think Patterson saw something he's never seen before. A house so close and tight that even a tragedy (or a few) can't tear it down. And him coming to Chief to tell him that was pretty cool. I don't like him solely based on the fact that he took Severide's position. But seeing him open up and be with everyone else was nice. MiladyEly: Still not much haha I don’t know. I just don’t feel much for his character. I want Kelly back as lieutenant haha maybe that is why I can't really like him. kwanfan1212: Patterson did show a nicer side of himself tonight but I’m still Kelly in the below GIF giving him the side eye and wondering when the shoe will drop and he starts showing his true colors. =P

Q6. Which of the calls stuck out the most for you? Were you creeped out by the morgue guy situation? lantetrain: The call that stuck out for me was Kelly saving that boy in that bouncy castle with the down power lines. Nikita_Citizen: My first reaction to that question was "a morgue? When did that happen?" My emotions were all over the place I didn't notice they were in a morgue! After watching again, I wasn't creeped out I actually enjoyed it (that's creepy) because it was something new. I really love the other call because it was so great to see Severide & Hermann working together, they shined & showed us once more their quick thinking & how badass they are. They're leaders with a big L. GinaWatchesTV: Duff trying to kill himself because it was suspenseful and it gave Kelly a chance to shine again. The morgue thing was just dumb. karen1948: The morgue call stuck out the most with me this episode in regards to calls! It was just down right freaky! sarrabr_4: To say quite frankly, the morgue call didn't do all that much for me except make me laugh cuz the morgue dude was so freaked out, but the one that stuck with me the most was the boy in the moon bounce castle outside with the power line. First the electricity goes haywire calls are always fun and excited but I got scared for the boy even though with Severide, they always come out safely. It makes me love Severide even more and knowing that that call brought him the boy back to the firehouse with a card and a thank you, that's amazing. And I know that will help Kelly fight for what's rightfully his. carliemazer: I really enjoyed the kid's birthday party call. It was like Season 1 again. High intensity and lots of action. I always love when the victims they save come back to the house to visit. So that was pretty cool too. MiladyEly: After the seeing Jon Seda (Yes, Antonio) wake up during an autopsy in House MD which almost gave me a heart attack, I am trying to expect it!!! :P kwanfan1212: The morgue call freaked me out because dead people aren’t supposed to be alive (LOL) but the bouncy house one was classic CF action and I loved seeing everyone work together to rescue the boy. On another note, anyone else want to ban bouncy houses from residential areas after this episode?! LOL ;)
Tumblr media
Q7. What was your favorite scene from Your Day is Coming? Least favorite scene? Did anything special stick out to you? lantetrain: Favorite scene has got to be Hermann’s video speech at the end to Gabby and also all Dawsey scenes. Least fave was the dead/alive guy in the morgue. Nikita_Citizen: As much as I loved pretty much everything in this episode (except the obvious) & especially the ending because it's the only Dawsey scene I can watch without crying, I'm still disappointed & shocked about the huge twist of this episode. I feel like the writers ruined what could have been a great storyline (CF is about family after all) & that this baby storyline could easily have been the story of a patient in Chicago Med. That being said, the writing was excellent & Jesse, Monica, Taylor, & David were outstanding, it's probably the reason why this is one of the most heartbreaking episode CF ever did, it drained me emotionally, it was really devastating. I really love the scene between Severide & the sweet kid, reminded me of Nathan & Severide in S2. I didn't care about the Jimmy/Chili moments because I'm sure Jimmy would have been able to help Molly's without Chili being "glued" to him. It wasn't necessary to start a possible romance in this episode. What sticks out to me: Duffy talking about stuffed bears. I realized we will never see the house bring Dawsey stuffed bears this season :-( GinaWatchesTV: Herrmann speech and Sev saving Duff were my favorites. Otherwise I really disliked the episode as a whole. karen1948: Fave scene: Any Dawsey scene and Hermann’s video to Gabby! Least fave scene: When Will told Casey there was never a baby! Just harsh. The entire episode stuck out to me just simply amazing and sad at times! sarrabr_4: This episode made me cry from top to bottom. Jesse Spencer and Monica Raymund did such a wonderful job acting it out and I cried for them, knowing exactly how they felt (I might have some skeletons in my closets concerning pregnancies). I loved how Matt said that if it came down to a choice, to save his girl because he knows that they can have another baby, but if he loses Gabby, he can never get that back. I LOVED Hermann's speeches, both of them making me cry some more because his heart is so big and his talk about getting a daughter fully grown, and admitting he had gone through something similar to them crushed me. I can't really say that I had a least favourite scene because even though it was a sad episode, most of the hour, it was a powerful episode (and I don't really care if it was there to promote ChiMed) the dynamic of it was well executed. carliemazer: I can't pick a single scene, it's impossible. This episode has made it into my top 5 favorite episode, possibly top 3! It was perfect in every way. Monica was SPECTACULAR. Her tears were real and although we know why and I'm still sad for her, it really added to the mood and helped the scene. I love her so much in case you didn't already know that. I guess seeing Matt being there for her and the ending scenes were my favorite. They're both so in love with each other and it's absolutely beautiful. So looking forward to their future together! MiladyEly: Hard question since this episode was really one of the best of the show with Dawsey’s sadness, Hermy's sweetness, and the bridge seen. This episode had its turns - I am still really disappointed with some of the storylines but some of the others really made up for it. kwanfan1212: Fave scene: Hermann’s speech to Gabby and the ending Dawsey scene. Least fave: Dawsey losing the baby in general. Something that stuck out to me was how hard this episode probably was for Monica to film (her brother died this summer right around the time they filmed it) so mad props to her for doing such an amazing job in the face of her own personal sadness.

Granddaddy of House 51 - aka, Chief Wallace Boden
Everyone wishes they had that one person, someone who was always there for them no matter what they go through, and Chief Boden seems to be that person for many of the people at House 51. Thank GOODNESS Matthew Casey had the Chief right there by his side through this entire thing because I honestly don’t know if he would have gotten through everything without him. He’s all ready buried a father, a best friend, a fiance, a candidate, said goodbye to the Darden boys (who really should make an apperance this season...) and tonight he nearly buried Gabby right along with the only thing he’s wanted his entire adult life, a baby. I’m broken just thinking about the pain that Matt has been through in his life and I’m very grateful that he has a amazing support group surrounding him, lead by Boden. Anyone else just want to give Matt a huge hug?! =(

If I ever go through a tragedy of this magnitude, I want my own Chief Boden to be with me and help me through it. <3
Will Halstead’s Horrible Bedside Manner - Seriously Dude
Can we talk about one thing that bugged me this week? Dr. Will Halstead. He didn’t bother me throughout the entire episode but dang, I want so badly to like him and he’s making it hard at times. His brother Jay is one of my favorite characters on Chicago PD and overall, I don’t think he’s a bad guy but he’s now done TWO things that have made me question his bedside manner. First up, anyone else remember this from S3? He freaking tried to BLACK TAG Kelly Severide in the ChiMed explosion. YOU DO NOT BLACK TAG KELLY SEVERIDE. =P
Tumblr media
This week, he had a line that literally ripped my heart out because it made my favorite CF character’s face look like this....
Tumblr media
He could have said, “We couldn’t save the baby” or “The baby didn’t make it”, but NO, he has to say this to poor Matt (who’s all ready worried about the love of his life but was also sky high thinking about being a dad): “For all intents and purposes, there never was a baby.” Um WHAT??! Maybe I’m just super sensitive but there are times to be in doctor mode and times to be a human being and he picked the wrong time to be a doctor. In Will’s mind, yeah, that’s how he sees the situation but that baby was REAL for Matt & Gabby and he should have known better than to say that line so callously to Matt. Then to come off as trying to be there for Matt if he needs anything, I have to admit that I was over that and happy Matt had Boden to lean on instead. Will, work on your bedside manners because there are other ways to tell people that sort of news and you have now struck out TWICE with me on taking care of my CF peeps. One more and you are OUT in my mind. Don’t blow it, okay? =P
Kelly Severide and His Crappy Day
Kelly Severide is not liking life so much right now. He’s still dealing with Patterson running HIS squad and now his two best friends are going through this horrible heartbreak, so he’s not in the best place for this episode. He is however, still a kickass fireman as shown in the rescue of cutie pie Kevin from the high flying bounce house (never thought I would be terrified of a bounce house but yet here I am after this ep, LOL).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then he took over for the Arson case that Gabby was working on before she collapsed to see if he could find out what happened to the missing files. How heartbreaking for him to find out that his old friend Duffy was the culprit in making those files disappear. He wasn’t letting his friend off the hook about it either, and when Duffy’s grief over it finally took over and he threw himself off a bridge, it was Kelly who saved him and gave him some helpful advice about how to deal with this tough situation.

And in the midst of all the drama and tension for Sev, he found out that Matt & Gabby lost their baby but that Gabby was going to be okay. You could feel Sev’s pain as he thought about how excited his friends had been about their little one and how scary the entire situation had been for everyone. And just when he thought his day was going to be nothing but sadness, a little bright light in the form of Kevin came back into his life and reminded him that things weren’t all bad. Sometimes a little gratitude can help mend a broken heart.

Dawsey - Broken Hearts and a Lost Dream
WHY???! I think that was the word on everyone’s lips during this week’s CF episode when Gabby lost the baby. It was heart wrenching to watch Matt try to comfort Gabby when we knew he was hurting so badly too. Why wasn’t that little baby supposed to be born? Why are Gabby & Matt having to deal with so much pain? Why did they hype up this story so much only to take it away barely four episodes into the new season?! WHY CAN’T DAWSEY CATCH A BREAK??! Seriously, the list of things that these two have been through (both together and apart) is so long that it makes my heart ache and my heart hurt. We may never really know why the writers decided to take their story this direction but one thing can all agree about...Jesse & Monica were absolutely INCREDIBLE from start to finish. I think that’s why our hearts were so broken....they really hit the nail on the head with their performances. Major kudos to them for doing such an amazing job. <3

Reminder That Christopher Hermann is the Absolute Best <3
How freaking beautiful was Hermann’s message to Gabby? He really did know exactly what to say to her to help her cope with their loss. His words were perfect and clearly touched Matt too. All we can hope now is that Matt and Gabby lean hard on each other through this tough time and get stronger together....just like he and Cindy did when they lost their first baby. <3

Dawsey - The Talk
The only thing wrong with this final Dawsey scene was that it wasn’t long enough (aside from the fact that they had to have this entire talk in the first place). We all wanted to see more conversations from Gabby & Matt but maybe that’s coming in future episodes. At any rate, this scene was perfect in so many ways and it really showed how well Gabby & Matt know each other. It also showed us how far they’ve come since their relationship fell apart in S3. First off, Gabby actually opened up to Matt and wanted to talk about what happened and he knew her well enough to straighten her out when she assumed they were only together now because of the baby.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gabby also knows Matt well enough to know that this had to be extra hard for him since he’s always wanted to have kids. She didn’t have to ask him anything; she knew that he was hurting too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This next part of this scene is SO significant. Matt doesn’t correct Gabby about how much he wants to have kids. He gives this shy smile like, “Yeah, I do want to have kids”, but then he does something else to show that he has everything in perspective. He tells her that he wants HER. He knows now that having a family doesn’t mean anything if its not with her. She’s his whole world, everything about her is the most important thing in the world to him, and he’s not about to let her think that the baby’s more important than her. It was the simplest and most beautiful declaration of love that he could have given her in that moment. <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then Matt gives her this sweet forehead kiss that melted everyone’s hearts but even more than that, Matt lays his forehead against hers while they lay there together wondering what comes next for them...
Tumblr media
This type of Dawsey forehead/cuddly moment has happened between them before and it always seems to be when they’re at their most vulnerable. Remember the following scenes? Cuddles and some of those forehead moments...these two are king and queen of them especially when painful events just won’t seem to leave them alone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m gonna come right out and admit that I just needed to see some sweet moments between them after all the sadness, hence these pics and GIFs, and these are just the ones I could find in my collection. I’m sure there are others out there. <3
Author’s Corner
I mentioned earlier that I had a hard time writing this blog. Thankfully it hasn’t been as bad as it would have been if I’d tried writing it Friday or Saturday but it was still tough. I tend to get really invested in characters that touch my heart and Gabby & Matt are two that have really hit me emotionally over these last 3+ years. Watching Dawsey go from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows, especially after all the crap they went through last year, was just plain cruel in my eyes. I think I speak for a lot of fans when I ask WHY??! We were all so heartbroken on Tuesday night and even though Jesse & Monica were freaking amazing in the episode, I just don’t know where they go from here. They’ve just gotten back together after time apart, they still can’t get married because she’s on Truck 81 with Matt, and now they’re emotionally damaged because they had their hearts set on a baby that’s no longer there. What now?! I feel like the writers owe us something happy after dragging us into this baby story only to take it away from us so fast and they owe it to Matt & Gabby too. These characters have both gone through so much loss in their lives and it just seems cruel to see them go through this sadness as well. Are they using this event to rebuild their relationship and make them stronger as a couple? Was this just a way for them to keep hyping up Chicago Med which starts up soon? Does Dick Wolf hate children?! People like me who watch his shows know darn well that it took SVU like, FIFTEEN YEARS for Olivia to finally have a kid....are we supposed to wait that long for Dawsey too? What’s the point in that when we all ready know (from the SHOW) how amazing they, especially Matt, will be as parents?! Chicago Fire was a show started to tell the story about this firehouse family at House 51 and for the most part, they do a bang up job showing this to us. Families include CHILDREN though and they seem hellbent on keeping that away from Casey (the one guy made to be a father). I just don’t understand that at all. It’s not like we would have to see the kid in every episode (is Terrance still a baby or have they aged him up yet...) and last time I checked, it is 2015 and women can actually have a career AND a family (and you know Gabby would be awesome at it). Dawsey is the prime couple for them to use to show how two working parents can make their family work and I just don’t understand why they’re not going there this season. They went with the shock value and sadness instead which might bring you some ratings but it’s a huge risk to keep breaking your fans hearts. Eventually, those fans say “Enough” and they’re not gonna watch anymore. I really hope CF has a good overall plan for Dawsey that includes some happiness (seriously, every time they have a call with children now, you know Gabby & Matt are gonna have a hard time with it) and they better not even THINK about tearing them apart. You wanna tell the losing a baby story? Fine. Then you also better tell the story of how the couple gets through it TOGETHER and it makes them STRONGER as a couple. I’m growing tired of drama for drama’s sake so why don’t you focus on telling us an actual STORY instead of seeing how much you can shock us?   /end rant

OK, I cannot end another round table on a sad note so I am going to post two BTS pics of Jesse & Monica that made me smile this week (including another hashtag pic). I hope you guys enjoy them too if you haven’t seen them all ready and THANK YOU once again for reading this week’s Chicago Fire Round Table. =)
