WIP Whenever

I was tagged by @ouroboros-hideout approximately two weeks ago. I haven't forgotten, or ignored it, I've just been busy. And this week is no exception.

Current Projects

I'm working on creating NPV versions of my newest OCs: Teagan, Lincoln and an as-yet unnamed OC who will be revealed at a later time. No WIP pics at this stage, sorry.

Freerunners: Battlefleet

I'm working on Freerunners: Battlefleet, an encyclopedic elaboration upon the fleets of the Colonial Powers of the Freerunners universe. At the moment, I have specifications for some of the ships. Here's my favourite class, the first starship I ever came up with for Freerunners, the Aurigan Commonwealth Navy's Hurricane-class heavy cruiser.

The genesis of the Hurricane-class originated as early as 2016.

There is still much to do, and I have to design the emblems of the other major Colonial Powers. The Hurricane-class belongs to a nation known as the Commonwealth of Auriga, which has never been much of a focus until I renewed my efforts on this project.

Virtual Photography

Not a lot at the moment. My focus is on developing my NPVs and doing my semi-frequent fight with WolvenKit. Here's some stuff that hasn't made it to post yet:

Chara and Val (2099 version)

Blorbos

There have been developments in the growing family legacy of the Ocampo-Gonzalezes. This is Valerie's family tree as of 01 May, 2099 (for now). As you can see, we've had some developments, including the inclusion of Lincoln, Chara and Lincoln's gf, Teagan. This is still an active WIP, and I'm using https://www.familyecho.com to do it. I've found it very user friendly, and best of all, it's free!

Other Stuff

I've been tagged by a couple of people to do the '15 lines' game. I'm getting to it. I'm just very busy until this weekend. So to @olath124 and @theviridianbunny, please know that I'll get to it.

Lately I've been kinda obsessed with "Gloves" by Saint Punk, and whenever I'm kinda obsessed with a song for a specific character, I'd ideally love to make a music video... but since I currently don't have the time for that, I opted for an edit based on the lyrics. I don't think I've ever done anything comparable, or at least it's been a long while, but I really had so much fun with this xD I might do more for the rest of the song, because there's some more lines in there that just hit hard and that I'd like to visualize wit VP 👀

Also, in general, I see such cool more graphic-y edits by others in the fandom all the time (especially @pinkyjulien and @chevvy-yates come to mind, like... your stuff is *so good*), I wanted to try something along those lines myself with this xD

I just really really love the intro lines so much, because it reflects so many aspects of Vince as a character, I'm going feral just thinking about it... How neither his corpo-past nor his merc career are better or worse than the other (same shit, just a slightly different packaging, to him at least), how he himself is always kind of morally grey and a little unpredictable in whose side he's gonna end up on, how he never really fits in where he goes, but uses being underestimated because of that to his advantage, how he rose from a nobody to an Afterlife legend through sheer spite and determination, and so on!! asjdökfjdfaöjsf I love him so much and I love that song XD

WIP Whenever (Actually on a Wednesday!)

@chevvy-yates had tagged me in a WIP Whenever thingy last week (I think? What is time) and @breezypunk sharing their WIPs reminded me I meant to do this. So, stuff I'm working on!

Over my Christmas break, I just started barely scratching the surface of working on my own custom poses. Because I'm me, I desperately need some battle couple poses--Fighting side-by-side, holding the other one while they're wounded, maybe fighting each other, etc. I compiled a Pinterest inspo board here to get an idea of what I'm going for.

This pose isn't anywhere close to being finished, but it's a start:

A small confession: while I actually like working in Blender quite a bit, I kind of hate everything else about modding, lmao. I've probably said it before, but my day job requires me to use so many shitty apps and software that always require 37 workarounds just to perform normally--I really don't have a lot of patience for troubleshooting shit during my leisure hours. Hopefully, the project won't become too much of a headache when I get into importing and working with props. 🤞

Virtual photography is always a constant for me these days--I was actually thinking yesterday how it feels like the absolute perfect creative medium for me. I like drawing and writing and 'real' photography, and I very much need to make sure I have more analog and tactile creative projects to keep me sane, but VP just hits in a way nothing else really has.

I am still working on the photostory I shared last time, but I don't want to give away too much there. It's also on a bit of a pause while I figure out some tech issues (read: I regret updating my game, lmao). However, I already have a ton of shots/mini-stories I need to queue up:

Other than that, it's kind of personal reflection shit and contemplating goals/resolutions for 2024. Getting long-winded and a little blunt under the cut:

I've always really struggled with making goals--I don't think I've ever had a situation in which I explicitly stated "I have a goal of XYZ" and then I achieved XYZ. I've had plenty of nebulous "Hey, I think I'd like to do XYZ" thoughts and then lo and behold, I do actually make XYZ a reality, but as soon as the word "goal" is attached to something, I just check tf out.

It was actually something I was trying to talk to my therapist about last summer, and then we kind of hit a dead end on that specific topic and decided I had other problems that were more pressing to deal with, lmao. But all the best goal advice in the world--following the SMART method, sharing it with someone for extra accountability, etc.--Just does not work with my brain.

(The accountability thing in particular always hugely backfires for me because just telling someone I want to do a thing tricks my brain into thinking I did that thing and now I don't need to anymore. Also, I don't like people telling me what to do, so if someone was like "hey, shouldn't you do this thing so you can meet your goal" I will say no just on principle of being a brat, lmao. I really hate that piece of advice.)

I know some of it, probably a lot of it, is fear of failure if I don't meet the goal. I'm very hard on myself--That's a no-brainer.

But I also think some of it, maybe just as much, is fear of success. Which I used to think was the stupidest fucking thing anyone could say about this shit, but success can mean big change. Success can mean increased feelings of imposter syndrome. Success can mean attention and responsibility I don't want. Success can mean bigger consequences if I do fuck up later.

I've come to realize that success is honestly as equally scary to me as failing.

I think this is a big reason I've always been content (or convinced myself to be content) with being good and not great, even if that means I'm not reaching my ~*full potential*~. (There are other external/macro reasons for that too, like my loathing of people trying to push me to monetize my passions, but I don't feel like getting into systemic gripes, lmao.)

Goals that require me to step outside of my usual routine also give me a lot of anxiety, which is something I've working towards managing (you could say that it's a goal of mine to get that under control dfgjhfjgdf), but that's still a very real hurdle for me.

Like I've been trying to go back to a minimum of 20 minutes of dedicated exercise (versus just walking a lot) a 3 times a week, and I get stressed if I miss it, or even just feel like I'm going to miss it (like if 7 PM starts creeping up and I haven't started it yet), but I also get all bent out shape spending 20 minutes on exercising while I'm doing it as if there's a better use of that time and THERE'S NOT. Like, what am I really missing? 20 minutes of scrolling Tumblr? Shut the fuck up, lmao.

All this to say that I don't really feel like I'm ready to set goals in a traditional sense, and that might not be something that ever works for me, but there are things I think would just be... kinda nice for me to do for myself that I want to do this year:

I need to actually be nicer to myself. As a matter of fact, @ren3gade--I hope you don't mind the tag, but I've been meaning to thank you for the "forgive yourself" advice you shared a couple of months back. I started making it a point to use that in my self-talk when I start spiraling, and it has been one of the best means of mitigating certain aspects of my social anxiety. I felt goofy as hell when I first started doing it, but that shit works. Positive self-talk makes you feel better, wow, who knew certainly not me

In a similar spirit, I want to stop being so judgemental about my limitations, and I need to mitigate feelings of guilt when I set boundaries for my mental health and energy. This is something I want to achieve in all areas of my life, but I think the easiest place for me to start flexing these muscles is with fandom. Because, damn, I let myself get into some really bad habits with the CP77 fandom (and I forgive myself for that 🙌). One of the big ones has been putting pressure on myself to keep up with what all my CP77 mutuals are doing at all times, and I'm not doing that to myself anymore. I've spent so much time in the past two years methodically going through tags and blogs to catch up on stuff I missed, and I'm just... relieving myself of this obligation. I know a lot of folks have tried to mitigate that for themselves by encouraging everyone to use their username-tracked tag--I'm not doing that. I'm not giving y'all more tagging work, and I'm not going to give myself the same obligation just in a different way. If I miss a post, I miss a post. Of course y'all are always more than welcome to @ me or send me things you think I'd enjoy (I love that, actually!!), but I'm just one person--I'm incapable of being an omnipresent fandom cheerleader and I don't know why I was pushing myself to be that. Well, that's not entirely true--I have some idea of why, but that's also a mentality I'm leaving in the dust. 😘 Also, for a long time, I did not use the like button for anything other than personal posts purely out of spite because I got tired of people complaining when they'd get likes but not reblogs--My asshole mentality was "Fine, now you get nothing." And that worked for me for several years and several fandoms, but I'm frankly tired of the "like" slander on Tumblr. It's a valid form of interaction and letting someone know you liked their stuff. I don't say this with malice, but other people's mentality of being unhappy with likes instead of reblogs is not my burden to bear. Anyway, I don't want to turn this into a rant about fandom stuff, lmao, but the point is I need more boundaries in my life, and I'm starting here.

I'm happier when I spend more time than I have been on traditional art and creative things that get me off my PC. Like I said above, I love VP so much, but it does unfortunately tether me to my computer desk longer than is probably good for me in the long run, mentally and physically. I stocked up on some new traditional art supplies, and I need to put those to use now that I'm settled into my new place. (And I've been itching to do a charcoal portrait of my bb girl.)

Reading books (gotta be physical, no screens) also makes me feel better. I've got about 7 books on my nightstand that I could totally finish this year--Doing that might be the one stereotypical goal I make for myself.

I want to reevaluate how I "multitask;" in particular, I want to break the habit of always having to have a background show/movie on OR always feeling the need to do something on my computer/phone while I watch a show/movie. Even as a kid (way before I lost my attention span to my smartphone lmao), I've always been inclined to doing something else while I watch shows and movies, but that used to be limited to drawing or painting my nails, which I think is fine. Now I just always feel like I need a screen nearby to do something else, even if there's really not something else worth doing. And listening to music or podcasts while I work on a thing is also fine, but it's gotten to the point where I almost can't have complete silence, and I don't like that. I miss being comfortable with silence while I pour all of my focus into a project. I just need to find some equilibrium here.

I know this isn't exactly a standard WIP Whenever, but me is what I'm working on, and I think it's all essential stuff to nurturing my creativity. 😊

WIP Wednesday/Whenever

Thanks @chevvy-yates for tagging me!

I'm working on my modding skills around hair ATM, and I might be getting a liiiiiitle addicted :')

It's started with trying to make a new hairstyle for [redacted, no spoilers]!Kerry,

Not perfect, but it was alright for a first try! I've learned a lot since then and I'm not done giving gramps a better hairstyle then the one he got 😤

But then I decide my babyboy Vaea deserved some love as well! I've often struggled to find hair mods for him, since his hair is very curly 😭

The first tries were a little rough... But I ended up with hairstyles that really suit him!

I've learned so much in the process! Now I can :

- merge hairstyles (without breaking Wolvenkit!)

- edit hairstyles (without it looking tooooo rough)

- edit the .app/.ent of any hairs (meaning, I can give any hairstyle to any Vs)

- add accessories (like bandanas) as part of the hairstyles

I've also tried some stuff for fun (not for any of my OCs)

I'm lowkey thinking about opening "commissions" (more like if you got an idea for a hairstyle, for any V/NPC, I need to get better at it! Like an internship (you don't pay for interns where I live), since I'm a beginner) but I'm a scaredy cat👉👈

I will do it for fixers as well bc I love the idea!

I've been pretty inactive lately on tumblr--just got back from a trip out of the country and trying to juggle a masters program and work, so I haven't had as much time to write or create as I'd like. Most of my writing has been relating to library science and processing plans, and while helpful isn't something terribly relevant to my cyberpunk moots 😅 I have been taking a lot of shots from phantom liberty as I play it in bursts, and hope to get some shots organized and posted soon. Someday I'll have free time! Winter break is in sight 😂

Thank you for tagging me @chevvy-yates , @wanderingaldecaldo , @gloryride 🖤

I'm working... Ok, working is not the right word for that. I'm experimenting and losing my mind over this for weeks now. And honestly i've been depressed so many times over this, it really hasn't been fun in a while, unlike making the tattoos for V-Lexa. But also i can't let things go, when i start something, so taking a step back and just leave this for a while, was not really an option (and i tried). And i really wanted to make something for her.

And since yesterday, i think i'm finally on the right track. Maybe. Hopefully. We'll see. Sorry, i'm rambling.

Anyway...

I always wanted to give Lexa some tattoos. But there hasn't been anything so far, which i thought would fit her. And also tbh i didn't even really knew myself what i wanted for her. And tbh it was kinda difficult to find something, cause everything i tried, wasn't "good enough" for her and i was (and still am) constantly unsure, if i'm not ruining her.

It was a lot easier to find something for V-Lexa. Not because i care less about her, but because she's in comparison relatively new and i'm still figuring everything about her out.

But Maelstrom Lexa has been around for quite while now and allthough i want changes, i'm so scared (yeah, it doesn't make sense). Also it doesn't help, that her personal lore is about wanting (Maelstrom) perfection and making her body the perfect weapon -.-

Aaaand i'm rambling again. Ok... Changes:

New tattoos of course. Lexa LOVES skulls. On her clothes, as decorations... So that is also mostly the theme for her tattoos. A lot of skulls. But she also got two "let's get some ink while blackout drunk" tattoos (she's not always perfect xD). On her right hip you can get a glimpse of a "yelling" cat, which she got after Salem adopted her and she just wanted to show off, that she now has a fur baby. The other is a Maelstrom logo on her leg which she got shortly before her initiation, when she got extemely drunk with Royce and Dum Dum and decided it's time for a gang tattoo. And of course they thought it was an awesome idea 😂

There's a tattoo for Johnny as well. It's the heart on her right arm. Not a cute heart, since we're still talking about Lexa, so it's the... literal organ 🫀 I still have to add Johnny's name and their wedding date to it. Also i would like to give him the same tattoo, but i'm not sure about that yet. Mostly because i'm hesitant to change his tattoos and don't want to get yelled at for that 🥴.

I got rid of her vanilla body scars and trying right now to give her some custom ones. Because i always thought she doesn't have enough scars, since she's fighting a lot and she sees them as trophies. But that's just an idea for now and i have to see how this goes, cause i'm not really understanding what i'm doing (normal maps wtf!?). I would also like to work on her face scars, but that is even more confusing.

I also thought about making my own skin color for her, cause sometimes her skin looks too red for my taste. I would like to have her paler and with even less color. But i didn't have any succes now, cause nothing looked good enough.

Other stuff:

I'm tidiying up Johnny's NPC+, cause every time i gave him a new outfit i just threw the things into his mod folder without organizing anything. And now i have a ton of stuff and no idea, what is for what. Also there are a lot of appearances, which i will never use (again).

I'm very slowly working on a mod for the Aurore Outfit: Pants, bra, top and jacket. I like this outfit so much but as usual, i need COLORS 😂 Currently only the pants are more or less ready, so this will take a long while until i can share it, since priority are definitely things for the blorbos.

Also in between i make some poses, but these are mostly just for myself for now, cause i'm actually too lazy to make them good enough for the public (at least i know how to position the camera to hide the chaos) or to retarget them for other couples besides M/F.

I think, that was it for now. Which was already too much again 🥴

Got tagged by @ouroboros-hideout & @chevvy-yates, thanks both ♥♥

I don't spend much time on CP or doing lot of things, but let's go !

I motivated myself to update some babes, with clothes but also new things around. I worked by alphabetical order, so i started with Aurore. I had sacred kala's tattoo for a while but i couldn't use the head tattoo because it conflicted with her complexion and i was already frustrated to not have complete set. So i changed tattoos ... for new Kala's ♥ as i love the sacred one, this one is delicate and really cute

I also use new Anrui's teeth mod to give her gap, new link port with web as i find fuckin' pretty for my witch, and tunnel ear

As Mieko, i wanted to give her variants to her hair, but curly hair are rare so she has two new, i don't know when i will use them but they're in the mod folder now :

And i updated her clothes mods, deleted some and added new ones. I don't know if i will keep them all (or all variants) but her wardrobe is really good, between casual, casual goth, casual summer, night date and night witch. Here a bit of outfits i created :

I use yellow/orange for her daily outfits, it's pretty with her dark skin and looks good with black. The purple is mostly for witch stuff. and she has now pretty date clothes to hang out with her girlfriend in NC.

Speaking of Misty, i started her npc +, with default outfit remixed :

I think it fits a bit more CP universe than her dress. Don't know if she'll keep the purple, maybe gives her dark blue ? don't know, but goth witch girlfriends are coming ♥

I prefer share positivity in my wip than talking about my crying modding sessions where Blender/Wkit are mean with me and i don't succeed in every new things i try. I will stay with my npv commissions for now !

I was tagged by @chevvy-yates for WIP Wednesday. To be frank, this is going to be very short.

Cyberpunk Hiatus

I am taking a break from all Cyberpunk stuff for a little bit. I've been feeling burned out and I've found that I'm not really enjoying it as much.

That means that this blog will primarily be reblogging for a while. I'm hoping to come back, but I'm making it a policy to not set deadlines for my fanfic/VP in 2024 to more properly enjoy the process. Call it a New Year's Resolution if you will.

Original Fiction

During my break, I will be posting various tidbits from my original speculative fiction project 'Freerunners.' I will eventually work up to a short story set in this original setting.

I can't say there will be a lot of visuals. I'm looking at commissioning concept art to help illustrate this world, as well as the crew of the Isthmus, our protagonists in this story.

If you like moderately hard science fiction, hate corpos, enjoy your space stories infused with some cyberpunk high tech/low life, and you thought James Holden getting stuck in the middle of fifteen different political plots was peak literature/television, maybe 'Freerunners' will be for you.

WIP Wednesday

Thank you so much @z-lagorio for the tag :D I'm still half-busy renovating stuffs at my new place (although this past week I've been mostly just enjoying the results of the work I put in so far xD but gaming corner is up next and I hope I can share some wips of that :3)

ANYWHO

I have been able to continue with my post-sun-ending fic a bit these last few days, I hope I can share the final version of Chapter 11 soon!

Here's a little teaser from Kerry's pov:

He arrived in front of the MSM recording studio in Charter Hill much faster than anticipated… so much so that his impromptu plan to get Lee to talk was still somewhat fuzzy around the edges. He was in the mood to storm in, guns blazing, but there was no guarantee Lee was even there. Maybe he should’ve checked that before coming here. Kerry cursed between his teeth, slightly clammy hands gripping the steering wheel tightly as he parked straight across from the building’s main entrance. Reluctantly he decided to simply call his manager, something he usually never did. It rang a handful of times, longer than he would’ve expected. “Kerry?” asked the shaky voice on the other end of the line in disbelief. “Certainly not Lizzy Wizzy,” Kerry replied deadpan, “Where are ya?” His heart was beating in his throat. “I’m at the studio! I’ve been waiting to hear from you, been worried that –…” “I’m outside the front door,” Kerry interrupted him, “Come down, let’s talk.” He tried not to let his nerves show, and he was thankful for his AudioVox evening out the slight tremor in his words. “Uh… why don’t you come upstairs to my office?” Lee evaded, “Vicki just dropped by with two new demos you can listen to, I think – …” “No,” Kerry said sternly, but he was grasping at straws for a reason as to why they had to meet outside that wouldn’t leave Lee even more suspicious. “Bring the demos with ya, we’ll listen to ‘em on the road,” was the best thing he could bullshit this quickly, “Been too stagnant lately, gotta move around a bit, get the creative juices flowing.” Empty phrases he’d flung around a million times before, but they usually worked with types like Lee. “Oh… okay?” Lee said, then there was silence for a couple of seconds, “Okay, I’ll be right there but… I need to be back at the studio at the latest in an hour, got an important appointment.” Kerry didn’t reply and simply hung up. No promises.

Lee appeared at the building’s main entrance around ten endless minutes later. Kerry’s right leg bounced in a shaky rhythm, the gun in his jacket’s pocket, heavy as a brick, bruising his thigh. Lee jogged across the street, black and blue designer coat fluttering around him. He tried to put on a smile when he approached the passenger side of the car, but it was slanted and forced. Kerry opened the door for him. “Get in,” he ordered, demanded almost, and Lee slightly flinched, fumbling in his pockets and pulling out a handful of shard cases. “Got everything with me, I thought maybe we could start with the song demos? But just in case I also brought the interview questions I mentioned, and some other things you can decide on for the upcoming promo events.” “Wow, great. Now get in,” Kerry repeated himself with zero enthusiasm and finally Lee slipped into the seat. The same seat V had fucked Kerry in so gloriously yesterday… and now Lee desecrated the space with his presence. Kerry closed the door again and sped off before Lee could say another word, headed towards the highway that would lead them out of the city.
