From English, "Ch" from "Butch" + "-emme" from "Femme". Coined by Gent of Gender-Jargon, 2024.

Elaboration

Chemme describes any individual who is both Butch and Femme. Chemme is similar to Butchfemme, but specifies Chemme as being distinct from Futch. In this context, Futch is conceptualized as a being between Butch and Femme. Whereas Chemme is a term to describe a coupled Butch-Femme experience. This experience can be (in)distinct, simultaneous, fluid, fluctuating, (un)equal, partial, etc.

Like Butch, Femme, Futch, etc., Chemme can be a queer subcultural identity or a gender identity specifically. When specifying a Chemme gender identity, Chemmegender can be used. Chemmegender describes an individual with a Butchgender-Femmegender bigender.

Flag

The Chemme flag was created using two common Butch and Femme flags, created by tumblr user Butchspace and tumblr user Noodle, respectively with slight color adjustment. The topmost three stripes are taken from the aforementioned Butch flag. The middle stripe is white, like it is in both the Butch and Femme flags. The bottom three stripes are taken from the Femme flag. From top to bottom, the Chemme flag is burnt orange, orange, coral, white, lilac, light purple and dark purple. The stripes have the following meanings:

The burnt orange, orange and coral stripes represent Butch identity.

The white stripe represents Multigender experience.

It's a bit random, but I also despise physics, even though I actually like math. For two reasons: my physics teacher was no good at explaining anything, and I hate the theory. Like, I can work with numbers and calculations, but the theory is so convoluted that doing physics feels like a masochistic choice.

But, biology is great, and I have always preferred it to math (and defo physics, physics is a bastard subject), but I haven't taken the advanced level and didn't get in depth into it tbf. But it's always been wayyy more interesting than physics.

My fav is actually chemistry. I loveeee chemm sooo muchhh.

The irony is I took my advanced level in goddamned math, and honestly even though I am supposedly good or something, I see why people can hate it (calculus. screw newton and screw calculus).

I feel like biology is underrated, and the best part about it is even though it relies on memorisation, it makes sense; everything comes together, so you can link stuff which makes memorisation much less hellish, and it doesn't feel like mindless facts (like geography, which I hate)

Yeahhh chemistry is all fun and games until you have to know every single amino acid, draw it, recognise if it’s α-, β-, γ- or δ-, think about polarisation, isomerism and then use Fischer, Natta and skeletal projection and it’s just so so so so much…

I just think biology is easier to grasp for me but I have to say university makes me like chemistry a little more than in school.

The adjective "Pussycat" was given due to the nature of the identity. Since this term describes a joined Soft Butch-Thistle Femme identity, it made sense to choose something is both soft and sharp, hence the choice of "Pussycat".

a flag for butchfemme/femmebutch folks who are specifically both soft butch and thistle/butchy femme — i've decided to call this meadow butchfemme/femmebutch!

i wanted to find a plant like a thistle but without the typical spines to name this after, and i found the meadow thistle, which has small prickles rather than large spines. 'meadow' is also a word i associate with a sort of softness, which ties in the soft butch identity well!

this is the butchfemme/femmebutch flag with all the stripes lightened (combining the top three stripes of the thistle femmebutch flag and bottom three stripes of the soft butchfemme flag).
