- before they got together, mindy made a joke asking how ethan was in bed. chad replied with how amazing he was. he’d never seen her so red. they aren’t sleeping together at all. chad just made the joke to fuck with mindy.

- ethan was behind him. mindy laughed so hard her stomach hurt. ethan was jaw dropped and chad was mortified but kept on joking to save face. and ethan couldn’t stop thinking about having his way with chad after that.

- ethan gets off using the photos he has of chad. he loves the ones where he looks the most vulnerable and had no clue that ethan was watching him

- ethan rarely likes people. his mood is sour until chad walks into the room, then his whole world lights up. he follows chad around like a lost puppy

- ethan is fairly sweet to chad. he never imagined himself tolerating someone enough to like them. but chad came around and ethan is obsessed with him. crazy in love

i try to keeps hcs kinda close to canon or else they don’t make sense to me (personally). ethan is really creepy and a literal killer. he is definitely creepy and obsessive towards chad. he hates people. i think he can be sweet and caring, it just depends. but he’s always nicer to chad than anyone else.

“Movie night?” Ethan repeats, watching Anika as the beta digs out multiple pillows from the giant sparkly pink tote bag she’s brought along with her.

He’s not sure how she’d managed to get so many to fit in there and as impressive a feat it is, frankly, he’s afraid to ask.

“Movie night,” Mindy parrots from where she’s lounging atop Ethan’s bed— because she steadfastly refuses to go anywhere near her brother’s bed because, and Ethan quotes, she doesn’t, ‘know what kind of bodily fluids are all over that thing.’

She holds out both hands and moves her fingers back and forth in a spirit-fingers kind of way as she echoes the words.

It’s disconcerting.

Mindy Meeks-Martin is a rollercoaster. Ethan is terrified of rollercoasters.

So, his slight fear of her checks out.

“And this is… a weekly occurrence?” he inquires, brows furrowed as he continues to watch Anika.

She’s kneeling atop the seemingly endless layers of blankets and bedsheets she and Chad have stretched out onto the floor between the beds, meticulously organizing the countless pillows against the dresser that he and Chad share— the one they’ve split evenly down the middle so each of them gets four drawers.

Chad’s desk chair is rolled out in front of the makeshift futon on the floor and his laptop is perched atop the seat, lid open and ready to go— the screen proudly displaying a slideshow of pictures of the Meeks-Martin family and friends.

It’s kind of endearing.

Ethan refuses to acknowledge the way it makes his chest ache a bit. He doesn’t have a single family photo on his phone. Only a few pictures he’s taken with Quinn over the years. And a single solitary snapshot of his mother from when he was a kid, before she’d passed.

“Every Friday!” Chad calls from where he’s got his head shoved in the closet— successfully pulling Ethan out of an inevitable dark swirl of thoughts. “We rotate. We had it at Tara’s last week but you missed it cause you were trying that study group thing. Next week it’ll be at Mindy and Anika’s and this week we get the pleasure of hosting, babe.”

Ethan feels his cheeks flush horribly, despite the fact that he tries his damned hardest to ignore the way his heart kind of trips over a beat in response to the flippant way Chad calls him babe. The alpha’s continued and incessant usage of pet names has been steadily increasing over the past two and a half weeks that they’ve known each other.

“You ditched us for study group last week?” Mindy inquires, face twisted in clear disgust. “Nerd.”

Ethan’s still reeling over babe so he can’t even bring himself to remind her she’s a horror movie fanatic and that, in and of itself, also makes her a nerd.

“Hey!”

Ethan’s gaze slides over to where Chad has pulled his head out of the closet.

“He’s the cutest nerd in all of Hortense Tower,” Chad declares with a playful smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. “Put some respect on his highness’ name.”

Ethan wishes he had a shell he could retreat into and hide.

Princess definitely seems to be the alpha’s favorite pet name for him— thanks to Quinn and her downright mortifying stories— and he uses, ‘his highness’ to refer to Ethan when talking to others more often than not. It’s embarrassing as hell. But Ethan doesn’t… dislike it.

Babe is a close runner-up, followed by the more pretentious-sounding ones; Baby, Darling, Sweetheart, etc.

Ethan’s sure at some point he’ll have to draw the line. Probably somewhere around Honey or Pookie.

He shivers at the thought.

“Debatable,” Mindy decides in monotone, giving Ethan one of those sweeping once-over’s before she turns her attention back to Anika.

Chad’s lips purse in an almost disappointed pout but Ethan smiles softly at his roommate when their gazes meet and Chad grins before he returns to whatever he’s attempting to do in the closet.

Anika is kneeling beside Ethan’s bed, stealing his pillows to add to the collection already on the makeshift futon on the floor. Mindy’s still sprawled on his bed though and is holding a few pillows hostage and Ethan watches as the alpha flops around, groaning dramatically and refusing to move when Anika reaches for them. She only relents when the beta huffs and sweetly asks for them with a gentle smile.

Ethan is still trying to figure out if they’re dating or not.

If they aren’t, they absolutely should be. Sometimes, when Anika goes on these long-winded, passionate rants, Mindy stares at her like she hung the moon and all the stars in the sky.

It’s downright adorable.

But Ethan’s not going to say anything. Despite the fact that he’s Chad’s roommate and Chad seems to like him well enough, Ethan feels like he’s on the outside looking in most of the time. Chad, Mindy and Tara had grown up together. And Mindy and Anika had met at summer camp years ago.

He’s kind of the outsider in this equation.

There’s a sharp knock at the door and Chad pulls his head back out of the closet for a moment to shout an enthusiastic, “Come in!”

The door is thrown open with such force that Ethan physically winces when it slams into the wall with a loud bang.

“The party has arrived, bitches,” Tara drawls, her fingers clutching a downright impressive amount of chips and snacks. She sweeps into the room, toeing off her shoes, and depositing all of the snacks onto the futon on the floor before she looks up at Ethan and waves.

Ethan lifts a few fingers in response to what he naively assumes is her greeting him, but when he glances over at the open door the other omega’s left in her wake, he stills and his hand drops to his side.

Oh, he realizes, that must be his cue.

He sniffs and resolutely does not frown.

“Okay, so— um,” Ethan mumbles, reaching up to run a hand at the back of his neck anxiously. “What time should I come back?”

All at once, four pairs of eyes turn to him.

Even Chad's, who finally seems to find whatever it is he’s looking for in the closet— it turns out to be an old, ratty red-and-green plaid blanket that the alpha tosses over at his sister, who catches it one-handed, even while she arches a sharp brow up at Ethan.

“Back where?” Tara questions, her nose scrunching and her brows furrowing. “What are we talking about?”

Chad’s eyes are narrowed at Ethan and there’s a distinctly grim frown on his face.

Ethan squirms, shifting from one side to the other as he avoids the alpha’s gaze.

“To the room?” he squeaks out, motioning in the general direction of his side of the room. “I mean, I can like… kill a few hours in the library or something but, um, I— I don’t really have anywhere else to like… sleep and stuff.”

Anika drops the pillow she’s holding, her mouth gaping as she stares at him like he’s suddenly grown another head or something.

A muffled sound comes from where Chad’s standing by the closet, something like a wounded noise.

Ethan doesn’t look.

And he gets the feeling he’s said something wrong.

When do you ever say the right thing, a mean little voice that sounds suspiciously like his father’s hisses from the recesses of his mind.

He takes a step back, lifting both hands to wave in front of him frantically.

“I— I mean, sorry, never mind,” he croaks, his face positively flaming once more in shame. “It’s fine, I can— I can figure something out.”

He turns abruptly, and almost trips over Tara’s discarded shoes in his haste to grab his backpack and flee.

Maybe Jason from his film class will let him stay the night, Ethan thinks as he shoulders one of his backpack’s straps and groans internally. If he does that, he knows he’ll have to deal with an infuriating barrage of subtle anti-omega bullshit Jason’s roommate, Greg, is sure to throw his way.

It’s ridiculous that in this day and age there are still people who think omegas are less-than for some reason.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa.”

Ethan’s head jerks back hastily as Chad rushes forward and steps into his path, effectively blocking him from their open dorm door.

“Slow your roll there, sweetheart,” Chad reasons, regarding Ethan with what looks to be a mixture of disbelief and amusement. “You’re not going anywhere.”

Ethan grips his backpack’s strap tightly and does not think about the fact that even though Chad’s eyes look almost black from a distance, up close they’re very much a deep chocolate brown color that Ethan definitely doesn’t think is the most gorgeous he’s ever seen.

“Yeah, it’s your turn to pick the movie,” Tara calls out, and despite the fact that she’s clearly speaking directly to Ethan, he’s unable to pull his gaze away from Chad’s to look at her. “Thank fuck because I don’t think I could survive another one of Chad’s picks.”

“Whoa, hey,” Mindy pipes up, shooting up from her horizontal position on Ethan’s bed. “First of all, how dare you? Secondly, Empire Records is God tier.”

Mindy is kind of fiercely protective of her brother. It’s unexpected but admirable as all hell. Ethan highly respects her for it.

Quinn is the same way with him. Although, she’s probably the only person in the world who even cares about him at all so it’s probably not saying much.

“God tier?” Tara guffaws. “You and Chad literally just spent the whole night drooling over Liv Tyler.”

“So did Anika!” Mindy squawks, pointing up at said beta accusingly.

Ethan kind of half tunes them out— as they continue to bicker back and forth for a moment, until Anika steps in, in an attempt to mediate— and gulps quietly under Chad’s intense stare, the alpha refusing to look away from him.

“My turn?” Ethan queries uncertainly, licking at his lips nervously and staunchly disregarding the way the alpha’s gaze flickers down for a second. “Are— you want me to stay?”

Chad’s lips stretch out into this lazy reassuring smile, a few of his top teeth digging into his bottom lip as he reaches back with a foot and pushes at the door.

It closes with a soft click.

“Your turn,” Chad promises, one hand lifting to slide the strap of Ethan’s bag off of his shoulder.

Ethan lets him do it and relinquishes his backpack, which Chad immediately tosses into the corner.

Then, Ethan’s eyes widen and his face flushes furiously as Chad wraps an arm around his shoulder and pulls him into his side, ducking his head just the slightest bit so his lips graze against the shell of Ethan’s ear.

“Stay with me, princess.”

"Chaaaaad!" the jock heard his name being called. "What d'ya want now Mindy?" he answered. Looking to his right he saw his twin sister come out of the kitchen where he and Ethan lived. Currently everyone from the group minus Ethan was at their apartment, haning out. They were all going to a frat party later, so they all decided to get ready and Ethan and Chads place.

"Do you have any eggs?" she asked her older brother. "Eggs? No, why?" he asked confused. Mindy just shrugged before sitting next to him on the couch. "I'm bored. Amd wheres Ethan?" she asked him. Chad shrugged as he continued to watch some TV-show that was playing. "Pretty sure his Econ class is until 7, why?"

"Well we got a party to attend!" Mindy exclamed like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Coudn't he just skip?" she asked him with a raised eyebrow. Chad just rolled his eyes. "Well first of all, his profesor would have been up his ass next class if he didnt have a writen sick note. Remeber last month, when we went to that caffe, and then what happened?" Chad asked her. Mindy only nodded.

As Ethan didn't have a writen sick note, the profesor as punishment made him write a 5 page long essay about some subject no one from the group knew about. The poor boy was dead by the end of writing it, and he was ready to kill his profesor with his own hands.

"Besides, no one is going to show up before 9, that when it gets dark. And you know Ethan hates parties, its a miracle Quinn and Anika got him to come." Chad added. Mindy just sighed heavely, drowning into the couch.

"Dose this look good?" a voice asked. The twins turned their head to see Tara and Sam in matching outfits. "Yeah." Mindy replied, giving them a thumbs up. Chad only nodded. Soon after both Quinn and Anika joined the four, and now they were just waiting on Ethan to come.

"Jesus its raining cats and dogs outside." Anika pointed out. Looking out a window, the group saw the rain pouring and it looked like there was a storm incoming. "Oh hell no, I aint going to the damn party. I dont got waterproof make-up and Im not planing to look like a soaked rat." Quinn said, before taking off her shoes and getting more comfortable.

"Y'know I agree once with Chucky-" "Hey!" "lets stay. Besides, im to comfortable now." Mindy said. The group murrmured agreements, and soon after they changed out of their costumes and into more comrotable clothes. Just as 19:45 pm rolled around, the group heared someone quickly entering the apartment.

"Jesus Christ-" Jack wheezed as he slid against the door. He was drenched, his hair as well clothes were stuck to him, his white shoes looked darker then ever (probally because of the mud as well rain) and his bag was making a puddle of water on the ground due to it being soaked. "Damn Sherlock, you good?" Mindy asked him from were she was sitting. "Peachy.." he rasphed out as he coughed.

"C'mon, you need a warm bath." Chad said as he got up and went to Ethan. Offering him his hands, the younger hold onto him. The jock swiftly liftied him up, and soon the two got into the bathroom that was in their apartment. "I'll put your bag into your room, and I'll get you a spair pair of clothes alright?" Chad said as Ethan sat on the toilet lid. "Thanks.." Ethan rasphed out. His eyes were half opened, and he looked like he was about to fall asleep any minute. Chad just ruffuled his hair before making his way to Ethans room. He put his bag next to the bed before going into the boys closet to take some fresh and clean clothes. He quickly returned to the bathroom, and there he saw an almost asleep Ethan. He was bearly awake. "Hey buddy." Chad said, shaking him very softly. "Hm..?"

"You gotta be awake man, c'mon just shower and then you'll be able to sleep, okay?" Ethan just nodded before carefully getting up. "Call if you need anything." Chad added, kissing his temple before leaving the bathroom. The little kiss left Ethan a blushing mess. The younger had a crush on Chad for a good while now, but he was to scared and insecure to ask him out even tho the other girls told him that Chad liked him. Hell, even Mindy confirmed it!

Some time later, the group heared Ethan coming out the bathroom. He was in an oversized sweather and he was also wearing some black sweatpants. All them could see him shivering as he aproached them, he even made sweatherpaws which Chad found way to cute and adorable.

As Ethan sat down next to Chad, Quinn quickly threw her younger brother a blanket. He immediately wrapped himself in the blanket and Chad coudnt help but to smile at him as he looked way to cute. "You good?" Chad asked him with a small smile. "I-I'm freezing." Ethan said, trying to warm himself. The jock put an arm around his shoulder, pulling him closer to his chest. "You'll be warm soon, I'm sure." he said. Ethan didnt reply, instead he relax more, cuddeling up to Chad and closing his eyes. The girls smirked at them, and Chad coudnt do anything exept roll his eyes. They all knew that the jock had a big crush on the brunnete but was to scared to confess.

"Anika you little shit!" Sam whisper-shouted. Chad gave the two a weird look, but choose to ignore the two. Anika just giggled to herself before continueing to watch the movie. As time went on alnost everyone fell asleep. The all mutualy agreed they would crash at Ethans and Chads place, so they all scattered around. Mindy and Anika went to sleep in Chads room while the Carpenter sisters went into Ethans room. Quinn just decided to crash on the other couch next to Chad and Ethan, not bothering to go into any of the boys bedrooms.

The only person awake was Chad. He was watching some shitty sitcom on the TV with half open eyes as he coudnt fall asleep not when the most perfect person on planet Earth was next to him, cuddled up against him, asleep on his chest.

"Hey.." a voice whispered shocking Chad out of his toughts. "O-oh hey Eth.." he whispered, looking down at the boy that was alseep on his chest moments ago. "Why are you awake Eth, go to sleep." the jock said, pulling the younger closer to him. "Its kinda hard to fall asleep while sitting.. And why are you awake?" Ethan asked. "Coudnt sleep.."

Ethan nodded, laying his head onto Chads shoulder. "Hey Chad.." he whispered. "Yeah?" "I gotta tell you something, but you have to promise you wont hate me." with that statment, Chad got concerned. What could Ethan possibly say that would make the jock hate him. "Whats up E?"

Ethan took a deep breath before looking at the older, starring into his eyes. "I like you. Like like like you.." he whispered. Chad looked at him stunned, shocked. Ethan frowned, looking away. "I'm s-sorry, I should go.." he said, attempting to get up anr leave.

Chad pulled him back down before he locked their lips into a kiss. At that, Ethan eyes widend before he kissed back. The two kissed paciontley before pulling away. "I like like you two..dare I say love you.." Chad boldly said. The brunnete softly smilied at him before pecking his lips. "I think I love you too.." "Yeah?" "Mhm.."

The two continued to stare at eachother, before Chad laided down and mention to Ethan to lay down on his. Ethan quickly complied, laying on the jocks chest. "Can we be boyfriends..? I-if you want to o-of course.." Ethan asked. Chad smilied at him, kissing his head. "I'd love to be your boyfriend Ethan."

And thats how the two fell asleep, cuddled up and consent.

"Hey lovebird." a smuge voice said as Chad wakes up. Looking around, he saw that Ethan was still fast asleep and that the smug voice belonged to no other then Mindy Meeks-Martin. "Dont even start." he told her in a rough voice. Mindy giggled. "I suggest you take a look at our wonferfull groupchat."

Raising one eyebrow, the older carefully took his phone from the coffee table that it was on without disturbing Ethan before entering the groupchat.

Looking at it, he saw that Quinn took way to many pictures of the two toegther sleeping. "I'm gueesing your boyfriends now?" his twin asked him. "Yeah." he replied, nodding. "Glad to hear. And if you dont want for this to repeat I suggest you two dont sleep together next to Quinn." Mindy laughed, winking at him. "Oh fuck off." Chad replied with a small amused smile. He was so so happy and so so glad he had the chance to be with the most perfect person on this planet, and he woudnt change it ever.

it’s 2:45 AM that isn’t important but it gives context Ethan and Chad headcanons

Ethan is in constant conflict about how he feels about Chad

because Chad is Chad

he played football in high school and he flirts with girls like it’s nothing and he high fives people when walking to class and everybody loves him

and Ethan resents him for the fact that everybody loves him when most people don’t even like Ethan

because even when he wasn’t sitting with his shoulders in, trying to act as non threatening as possible, with insecure virgin comments and cardboard costumes

before richie died and he didn’t have to play a part for some big scheme to get revenge, when he would act closer to who he really was

people didn’t like him then either

no one would high five him in the hallways or think about him with fondness

no body would talk about him the way he was sure they would talk about chad

and he hates to admit it but he’s jealous of it

that everyone loves chad

but he’s living with the guy and he’s supposed to make friends with him

and no matter how much he doesn’t want to see it he sees why people love chad so much

chad shakes his shoulders and makes him laugh

chad offers to buy him lunch and puts his arm around his shoulders while they walk to class

chad calls him cute and when ethan was sick chad made him chicken soup

they live together for six months and he sees Chad sitting on the floor puking into the toilet hungover and still saying please and thank you when Ethan gets him advil and water

he’s jealous of chad for how much love he gets but he loves him just as much as everyone else does

he hates him too though

not when he’s flirting with girls or talking about football or whatever bullshit

he hates him the most when he’s sitting next to Mindy

and their both smiling and laughing at each other

and Sam and Tara are across from them just as happy

looking like a family

Ethan knew that Chad was trying to keep him safe from whatever psycho killer was out there but Ethan grew up with a psycho killer as an older brother. Richie basically trained Ethan into being the perfect "final girl". He just wanted this whole Ghostface thing to go away so he could finally feel normal.

Ethan knew Mindy was suspicious of everyone including her own girlfriend but it still hurt. He didn't like answering a million questions about his whereabouts or the stares whenever he walked into a room. Ethan was just trying to keep everyone safe while keeping himself from breaking down every time he felt scared.

It hurt that Mindy kept pulling Chad away from him and that Sam made sure he was never alone with anyone especially Tara but it hurt more that Chad never said anything. He just went along with it and told Ethan that everyone was just on edge and to not take it personally but how could he not when it was obvious the only person they fully didn't trust was him.

Anika and Quinn were the only ones in his corner defending him. Quinn was ready to fight anyone who so much as looked at Ethan funny and Anika never left his side regardless of Mindy's "warnings". There was a clear divide in the group and Ethan just wanted Chad.
