how long has it been since he’s SLEPT ? he doesn’t know. he can’t remember. all he knows is that he’s got a good eight hours before he goes in for his next shift ---- and that courfeyrac is quite possibly the single most ATTRACTIVE human being he’s ever seen in his life. especially now, when he’s just rolling out of bed shirtless with his hair a mess. ( he just wants to kiss him. ) 

it’s with drunken-like GRACE that he reaches for his boyfriend’s hand as he practically collapses to his side of the bed. green eyes fall shut involuntarily before he forces them open again, sleepy smile spreading across his lips.

    the exhaustion weighing on his body ALWAYS     tends to strengthen his affections. always.

First of all, let me just say this: D R A G O N S

Grantaire was a former blacksmith’s apprentice before he acquired Fell’s egg. His hands and arms were scarred from the forges well before Fell came along, but raising the dragon has left his arms almost completely scarred and burned.

Fell is a MASSIVE dragon, one of, if not the largest dragon in Les Amis. He’s a bipedal breed where his wings and forearms are joined, black as night, a bit spiny, and acts like an overgrown dog.

Prior to flying with Les Amis, Grantaire lived out on the coast with Fell where Fell hunted almost primarily on big sea game. A common sight for the villagers would be Grantaire sitting out on the beach working on something while Fell devoured sharks and whales.

Grantaire pretty much mastered the ‘crazy dragon man’ look to keep villagers from bothering him too often. Between the scars on his arms, shark teeth and baby dragon fangs turned into fashion accessories, and his longish braided hair, he could generally keep people from bothering him too often.

AND WHEN THAT DOESN’T WORK, Grantaire keeps large blacksmith tools around as weapons: hammers, tongs, anything long and heavy and metal that he can bash into things.

When asked to join Les Amis, Grantaire insisted that he wasn’t much of a fighter, that he was just a blacksmith. However when something requires some level of smithing to repair and everyone looks to Grantaire, his first response is ‘why are you all looking at me?’

9. What about political beliefs?

[ puts face in hands & laughs for 20 years ] he’s so opinionated with regards to politics oh my godddd. granted, he’s levelheaded enough to know when he should and should not be speaking — when it’s not his narrative to control and he should leave it to someone else who’s actually more informed/involved/belongs to whichever minority group they’re trying to help — but that doesn’t stop him from having opinions at all. 

19. What were your character’s deepest disillusions? In life? What are they now?

i think the biggest moment of disillusionment was people, really — seeing how little they cared about the rights of others if it didn’t directly impact themselves. that disappointment probably hit him the hardest. 

29. What is your character’s weaknesses? Hubris? Pride? Controlling?

mostly his pride, and his stubbornness. his unwillingness to admit when he’s wrong about something, especially in front of people he looks up to. 

39. What do they like to ridicule? What do they find stupid?

fox news :| no but in all seriousness, i don’t think he finds anything stupid per se, but more that he comes across things he doesn’t condone or very strongly disagrees with, one of the biggest of which is indifference. he can’t stand apathy or disinterest, whether it’s with regards to politics or pop culture. he loves that all of his friends are passionate about something — whether or not it’s a passion he shares is irrelevant, because he just loves being surrounded by people with different interests. so yeah, if he were to find anything worth openly ridiculing, it’d be apathy. 

49. What about voice? Pitch? Strength? Tempo and rhythm of speech? Pronunciation? Accent?

deep voice. he speaks with a strong tone and has a wee bit of a new york accent that he’s tried to cover up, but it comes out when he’s angry and doesn’t quite remember to tone it down.

she’s been on the phone with  ENJOLRAS for the better part of the day ;  before that, she’d been speaking with joly, and YESTERDAY, she’d spent the afternoon with her friends at the hospital in the OBSTETRICS wing. 

    things have not really been a cake walk for her the past few days.

it started with a late period ;  of course, her first thought was that maybe it was just because of stress from work. then came the sickness. which might have been PMS ... except that her period never came. not AT ALL. 

   she keeps trying to come up with different things it might be. surely,    SURELY there’s some kind of medical phenomenon that fits her,    because she can’t be PREGNANT. of course not. she and courf have    always been  s a f e  ........

   and yet, all of her friends tell her the same thing. amy the ob/gyn says    she’s definitely pregnant. joly told her to keep an extra close watch on    her blood sugar, because it may PLUMMET due to the baby.

         and enjolras said she definitely needs to tell courfeyrac. 

     she’s in the middle of checking her blood sugar when courfeyrac gets      home, and she can already FEEL her breath catching in her throat, her      heart beating like crazy. what is he going to say ?  what if he freaks out ?      what if ------------ 

    “ welcome home, courf ! “ 

      she greets him with a big smile from over the top of the sofa that she hopes       doesn’t look FORCED. a glance back down at the meter ;  her glucose is low.

                            goddamn it.
