Setting: Capitol cellblock, day 25 Open to any tortured souls in the block
I don't support my husband. I don't support my husband.
The words kept bouncing around in her head over and over again until she wanted to scream or throw herself against the doors just so she could stop hearing herself say it. They had given her no choice, she had been backed into a corner and if she hadn't said those words out loud would they have hurt Jax? Caesar, fuck him, had given her no choice.
But that didn't stop the self-loathing or the guilt. Had Sterling watched the interview? If he had, did he hate her? Could he hate her? He had to know that it wasn't her choice to do that interview. She had no way of knowing if her message got through and if he knew what she had been trying to tell him. They were a million miles away, but she still loved him and she was thinking of him. Even if her words had changed his feelings for her.
The Peacekeepers hadn't given her a choice when they dragged her to the studio to be beautified. Poor Domi, it had taken her far longer than normal to get her into 'victor status' again. She had to cover all the bruises and make her whole again.
It had almost been nice to see the other woman, Cecelia had almost been able to trick herself into thinking that it was a normal day. Domi had been quieter than she remembered her, she had probably been told not to talk to her, but Cecelia had tried to get her to talk, but she had eventually given up. Domi turned Cecelia into who she was again. She had always liked Domi and had done plenty of work for her over the years. It wasn't a surprise to see that she was complicit. Of course, Domi was thriving while Panem burned.
Cecelia needed a distraction, but distractions were hard to come by in the cell block.
"Tell me what your favorite memory is," Cecelia said, her voice carrying through the block. "Or just...tell me anything you'd like."

The Academy Award® winner about star-crossed love that spans the years – and the globe. After her triumph as the lunchroom temptress in the crime classic The Postman Always Rings Twice, Lana Turner expanded her range with Green Dolphin Street. Set in 19th century Europe and New Zealand, this sweeping romance tells the story of two beautiful sisters, one headstrong (Turner) and one gentle (Donna Reed), and of the man (Richard Hart) who marries one even though he loves the other. The film’s riptides of emotion are matched by breathtaking physical tumult: a fierce Maori uprising plus a catastrophic earthquake and tidal wave that earned the film a 1947 Oscar® for special effects. With its dramatic story and spectacular visuals, Green Dolphin Street drew huge audiences for epic moviemaking, being one of the top-ten box office hits of the year.

The job – a career breakthrough – is supposed to go to hoofer Johnny Brett, but a mix-up in names gives it to his partner. Another example of Broadway hopes dashed? Not when Johnny is played by Fred Astaire. Sparkling Cole Porter songs, clever comedy and dance legends Astaire and Eleanor Powell make the final Broadway Melody (co-starring George Murphy) a film to remember. Powell’s nautical “All Ashore" routine (a/k/a I Am the Captain”), Astaire’s blissful “I’ve Got My Eyes on You” and Fred & Eleanor's elaborate routine to Cole Porter's classic "I Concentrate On You" are more than enough to please any fan. But they’re just a warm-up for the leads to tap one finale number into immortality: “Begin the Beguine,” introduced by Frank Sinatra in That’s Entertainment! with, “You can wait around and hope, but you’ll never see the likes of this again.”

Framed for manslaughter after he breaks a story about city corruption, reporter Frank Ross is sure he’ll prove his innocence and walk out of prison a free man. But that’s not how the system works at Rocky Point Penitentiary. There, cellblock guards are vicious, the jute-mill labor is endless, and the powers Ross fought on the outside conspire to keep him in. Frank’s hope is turned to hopelessness. And he’s starting to crack. Two of the screen’s famed tough guys star in this prison movie that casts a reform-minded eye on the brutalizing effects of life in the slammer. James Cagney “hits a white-hot peak as [Ross,] the embittered, stir-crazy fall guy” (Leonard Maltin’s Movie Guide). And George Raft (Cagney’s friend since their vaudeville days) portrays racketeer Hood Stacey, who may hold the key to springing Ross.

2.19, aka “Dean, does it ... bother you at all, how easily you seem to fit in here?”
A prison cellblock’s been closed and sealed off for 30 years, and for some reason it’s been unlocked again now and it’s allowed this ghost from the past to escape.
Yeah, that’s not relevant to current canon. >.>
There’s also the “two steps ahead vs ten steps ahead” playing out on a much smaller scale. Henriksen thinks he’s two steps ahead of Sam and Dean, and that he’s got them trapped in prison at long last, but Sam and Dean had been ten steps ahead all along...
They got themselves arrested on purpose to do a favor for John’s old marine corps buddy, infiltrating the prison to stop a vengeful spirit from killing prisoners. What we don’t know right away is that they go in with a plan to escape once they take care of the ghost.
But that line I used at the top of this post there? Yeah. Dean can fit in almost ANYWHERE he wants to. It’s just who he is as a person. He fit in extremely well on the movie studio set in 2.18, too. That hadn’t really bothered Sam as much. Probably because fitting in on a movie set with regular people is more socially acceptable to Sam than fitting in with a bunch of convicts in prison. It just... doesn’t make a difference to Dean. Like, at all.
Dean’s also the one who convinces their attorney to help them out in locating Nurse Glockner’s grave.
DEAN: I mean, come on, man, this place has all the signs of a haunting. Innocent people are dead. Four so far. SAM: [laughs sarcastically] Yeah, innocent. DEAN:You from Texas all of a sudden? Just because these people are in jail, doesn't mean they deserve to die. If we don't stop this thing, people are going to continue to die. We do this job wherever it takes us.
And it’s all about paying their debts to Deacon for having saved John’s life once.
Sam may have taught Dean some “shades of grey” about the monsters, but Dean’s always understood the “shades of grey” about people. It’s not black and white, good and evil, normal and hunters.
But they go in having researched the old cell block, believing one of the prisoners to be responsible for the new string of deaths. They find out it was something very different...
There’s also the differences between their attorney, Mara, and Henriksen. Henriksen’s been pursuing them for months based on the highly incomplete police records of their crimes, and assuming those are the true facts. But Mara spends half a day researching their cases, talking to people they’ve dealt with, and starts to hear a very different story. She points out these “weird inconsistencies” to Henriksen, but he still dismisses these witness accounts by declaring they’re all “nuts.”
It’s like he’s already come to this foregone conclusion about the Winchesters, and he disregards any facts that don’t fit that conclusion.
HENRIKSEN: That's because she's nuts. Look, I was in Milwaukee. I spoke to her, I spoke to all the witnesses. MARA DANIELS: And? HENRIKSEN: And, all I know is, wherever these guys go, people die. It's that simple. MARA DANIELS: I don't know that it is. They just don't seem cut-and-dry guilty to me. I think there's more to this.
Henriksen refuses to see the grey area, because it doesn’t mesh with his version of reality. To him, things are black and white.
Correlation is not causation, Henriksen...
And Sam had been weirded out by how easily Dean fit in with prison culture, but in the end HE’S the one who talks to one of the prisoners enough to get a lead on the ghost they THOUGHT they were hunting, until they discover it’s a little more complicated than they thought...
But in the end, Mara believed them enough to feed Henricksen the wrong info, leading him off on a wild goose chase while Sam and Dean escape.
Ten steps ahead.
The story became the story (re: the ghost, re what Henriksen believes are the facts)
lies and damn lies (WHY the story was wrong about the ghost... that long buried truth about the “heart attack” that killed the prisoner they initially believed was responsible for these new deaths)

The Rise of the Fashionable Concrete Home
Alanna Hale for The Wall Street Journal
Step inside Sudnya Shroff’s cast-concrete home in Los Altos Hills, Calif., and you will find glossy kitchen countertops, also made of concrete, sculptural bathroom sinks and staircases—concrete—and floors with fossils and tiny semiprecious stones embedded in, yes, concrete.
“There’s a very strong emotional draw for me toward concrete—it’s the one material that accepts imperfections,” said Ms. Shroff, a 44-year-old painter and fashion designer whose 7,000-square-foot home, completed in 2013, cost over $5 million to create. Her husband, Nickhil Jakatdar, a 46-year-old Silicon Valley entrepreneur, had his doubts during the 4½ years it took to design and build the house. “He said, ‘Is it going to look like one of those homes in India, where they run out of money and don’t paint?’” she recalled.
Unfazed by associations with cellblocks and parking garages, more homeowners are discovering that concrete is the chameleon of construction. It can take on the texture of wood or glass, an artist’s palette of color beyond drab gray and, with the addition of structural fibers and plasticizers, is less prone to cracking.
“It’s pretty much the standard concrete that’s always been used, but upgraded with new additives,” said Fu-Tung Cheng, whose Berkeley, Calif.-based firm Cheng Design created Ms. Shroff’s home. “Most people’s immediate response about concrete is to think of freeways and parking lots—but if you use it properly, it’s like stone was in the old days, sculptural with a real feeling of timelessness.”
Concrete has been around since ancient times, when Roman builders mixed lime, sand and rubble with volcanic ash to create the Pantheon dome. Modern concrete swaps out the volcanic ash for portland cement. Concrete homes can be poured in place into forms made of plywood or steel plate and lined with everything from pine boards to mirror-smooth plastic laminate. Or they can be erected using precast concrete walls or blocks. The sturdiest concrete homes are reinforced with steel, making them strong enough to withstand fires, floods and hurricanes.
For the Shroff-Jakatdar home, Mr. Cheng created a cantilevered staircase with concrete treads that seem to float in midair; each tread can support over 900 pounds. Elliptical circular “cutouts” throughout the house bring in natural light. The concrete floor of Ms. Shroff’s studio was stamped with traditional Indian and Chinese blocks used for textile printing.
A view of the dining area. The paintings are by Ms. Shroff, an artist and fashion designer.
Alanna Hale for The Wall Street Journal
And her deep-red kitchen counter, tinted with powdered iron oxide, was poured in place and then buffed to a high polish to resemble terrazzo.
Concrete homes are typically more expensive to build than conventional homes, but they’re less expensive to maintain and more durable over time. Concrete affects the bottom line in other ways, lowering heating and cooling costs and even insurance premiums.
“Reinforced-concrete building systems are more disaster resistant, more insect resistant, more mold resistant—also one of the most energy-efficient systems available,” said Ed Hudson, director of marketing research for Home Innovation Research Labs, a subsidiary of the National Association of Home Builders, a trade group.

Alanna Hale for The Wall Street Journal
According to Home Innovation surveys, poured and precast concrete is most popular in the luxury sector—accounting for 4.1% of high-end homes built last year. That marks a steady increase in the demand for luxury concrete since the recession low in 2012, when such homes accounted for just 1.9% of new construction.
Investing in concrete construction with high-end finishes may pay off in resale value.
“If the home is luxurious with lots of windows, we can sell those easily,” said Gwen Banta, a real-estate agent with Sotheby’s International Realty in Los Angeles. “Polished concrete floors are a very popular design element. Concrete, when imprinted with a pattern, can be a dramatic design element.”
In New York, Tod Greenfield spent over $2 million to build a 5,000-square-foot concrete house that was poured in place on his family’s 3¾-acre property on the North Shore of Long Island in 2013.
“We didn’t want to use Sheetrock, we didn’t want to use paint—because every few years you have to repaint,” said Mr. Greenfield, who is 58 and the co-owner of Martin Greenfield Clothiers, a custom-suit manufacturer.
“Concrete has a natural appeal to us. It’s interesting to look at.”
Custom wooden forms were created to cast the concrete walls, floors and ceilings. Pine boards were used to give the concrete walls a wood-grain finish, which harmonize with the home’s black-locust siding (milled from trees on the property felled during Hurricane Irene).
The smooth concrete ceilings were created with fine-planed plywood forms. Large windows and translucent polycarbonate wall panels bring in plenty of light.
The exposed concrete ceilings posed a challenge: Where to hide some of the home’s wiring and other elements. Narofsky Architecture, which designed the house, created a series of wood-framed “clouds” that float just below the ceiling, to house cove lights, speakers, air-conditioning vents and venting for the kitchen cooktop. Each cloud is lined with a sound panel made of polypropylene material, “to balance out the echo and soften the audio feel of the house,” said principal Stuart Narofsky.
A look inside the Greenfield’s concrete living room.
Ricky Rhodes for The Wall Street Journal
The concrete roof is strong enough to support a 150-square-foot rooftop vegetable garden in raised beds planted with a foot of soil, and a 1,000-square-foot green roof of alpine plants.
“Structurally, the house is super solid,” said Mr. Greenfield, who rode out superstorm Sandy there in 2012, when work was nearly complete. “I saw this giant oak tree keel over and hit the corner of the roof—it just snapped. House: 1, Tree: 0.”
But not all concrete is built to last. In the Los Altos Hills, Calif., home, Mr. Cheng designed a wall that has been engineered to partially erode over time; the concrete, which was mixed with soil and organic matter to encourage the growth of lichen and moss, is also embedded with hidden objects, such as stones, machine parts and a doll belonging to Ms. Shroff.
“Some are starting to show up now,” she said. “Some of the things won’t show up even in my lifetime.”

Do Remember The Lady Of Rage Rocking The Mic Rough With Her Afro Puffs (Video)
It was a monumental year when Dr. Dre released The Chronic on his Death Row Records imprint in 1992. The multi-platinum album was a street sensation that marked a new era of Rap. It delivered G-Funk to the mainstream, with videos that displayed the laid back vibes, set against menacing lyricism, and cautionary tales of life in Compton, Long Beach, and South Central Los Angeles. Like Marley Marl with his “Symphony,” Dre’s solo debut introduced an ensemble of stars on the mic, behind the boards, and helping supply the smoked-out party. Snoop Doggy Dogg, RBX, Warren G, and Kurupt were some those names. But most notably, The Chronic also showcased a fierce female MC who matched the grit and toughness of her Compton and Long Beach counterparts, although she was raised in Farmville, Virginia.
The track “Lyrical Gangbang” wouldn’t be as hard-hitting if The Lady Of Rage didn’t set the stage with her memorable, hardcore delivery of the lines: “Now I’ma kick up dust, as I begin to bust, On the wick-wack, f*cked up suckers you can’t trust.”
The Lady Of Rage Details The Serious Health Issues She’s Been Facing
The former Chubb Rock protege known as “Rockin’ Robin” showed up again on The Chronic rapping from the spot of cellblock H on “Stranded On Death Row.” Cellblock H, as she would explain to XXL, is a reference to a women’s prison cell. She explained to the magazine as apart of their 20th-anniversary piece on The Chronic: “I ended my verse with ‘cellblock H’ ’cause I remember running across a television show called Prisoner: Cellblock H, and I think it was about a women’s prison. Me being the female in the crew, I just referenced a female’s prison, cellblock H.”
Snoop Doggy Dogg got his solo album shot less than a year after The Chronic with Doggystyle. Rage is actually the first rapper to set off Snoop’s debut with “G Funk (Intro).” It was there that she rapped the lyrics, “I rock ruff and stuff with my afro puffs / Handcuffed as I bust, ’bout to tear sh*t up.” Just a few months later, in 1994, for the Above The Rim soundtrack, the woman born Robin Allen reiterated those lines as a hook for the first solo Death Row Records single, “Afro Puffs.”
youtube
The Lady Of Rage Roughs Up A Tough DJ Premier Track With MC Eiht (Video)
Her solo single was supported by Snoop Dogg making an appearance for some background vocals and a music video cameo. Through G-Funk synths and a heavy bassline, Rage set the track off rugged: “I rock on with my bad self ’cause it’s a must / It’s the Lady Of Rage still kickin’ up dust / So umm, let me loosen up my bra strap / And umm, let me boost ya with my raw rap / ‘Cause I’ma break it down to the nitty-gritty one time / When it comes to the lyrics, I gets busy with mine / Busy as a beaver / Ya best believe-a / This grand diva’s runnin’ sh*t with the speed of a cheetah / Meet a / Lyrical murderer… I’m servin’ ’em like two scoops of chocolate / Check out how I rock it.”
Featuring some of Dr. Dre’s hardest production of the period, the track hit #5 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs and served as the second single for the Above The Rim soundtrack, following Warren G & Nate Dogg’s “Regulate.” The album, however, peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums in 1994.
Daz Explains Why Lady Of Rage & Inspectah Deck Verses Did Not Make All Eyez On Me (Video)
Despite the success of the track, The Lady Of Rage has expressed her initial distaste for “Afro Puffs.” In an interview with Billboard’s Erika Ramirez from 2014, Rage revealed how it almost never happened –– or, at least, it wasn’t supposed to:
“That song almost didn’t happen,” she said. “I just so happened to go to the studio that day, and Dre was playing this beat. He was like, ‘You got something for that Rage? Let me hear it.’ I spit a rhyme that I had written a few days prior. I didn’t like [the song], but Dre was like, ‘Damn, Rage, will you just shut the f*ck up? It’s not even done yet.’ I still didn’t like it, but everybody else did. I asked Suge [Knight] to not put the song on the soundtrack, and he was like, ‘Alright Rage, we won’t do it.’”
Hear The Original Version Of “California Love” & It’s Nuthin’ But A Dre Thang
The MC continues, “I was riding in the car with Suge’s wife [Sharitha Knight], and I told her, ‘I’m so glad they got rid of that song.’ And she said, ‘Girl, they didn’t take that song off the soundtrack.’ I had a fit! I said, ‘They’re going to ruin my career. That song cannot be the one.’ My style was more East Coast. I’m from Virginia and ‘Afro Puffs’ was this G-Funk sound. [Interscope Records Chairman at the time] Jimmy Iovine called me and told me to calm down because the song is such a hit. That became my claim to fame.”
“Afro Puffs” might’ve been a huge enough single to warrant Rage’s solo debut. However, despite the song’s success, Rage waited while Tha Dogg Pound dropped their Dogg Food debut in 1995. By the end of that year, the label’s priorities had shifted entirely with the arrival of Tupac Shakur. By March of 1996, Dr. Dre, who had worked so closely with Rage, left the label he co-founded. Her first and only studio album, Necessary Roughness, released in June of 1997. The record was released via Death Row and Interscope and featured production by DJ Premier, Daz Dillinger, Easy Mo Bee, DJ Kenny Parker, and Rage herself.
Snoop Dogg Reveals The Original Beat For “Nuthin But A G Thang” & Raps To It
Not long after her album, Rage left Death Row. In 2005, she spoke to Jake Paine (now with Ambrosia For Heads) for AllHipHop about her frustrations. “I went up there one day to pick something up. I’d been going up there all the time. Suge was locked up at the time; things were run differently. When I got to the lobby, the guy there told me I needed an appointment to go upstairs. I was like, ‘I need an appointment? For what?’ All I got was, ‘Things are different now.’ I was insulted by that. I’m one of the artists—one of the reasons this office is here, I feel. I didn’t sell millions of records, but I was on those things. This is mines, like Dre’s, Snoop’s, Suge’s, whatever. I said, ‘Can you go get the package for me?’ When he went upstairs, I picked up something and I broke some things up, and really give them a reason for not lettin’ me in here. I never went back again until I couple of months ago. I was just mad. I was pregnant, I was mad, that was slap in the face.”
Rage’s persona, on the mic and real-life, earned her a role in Next Friday. At a time when her music career was limited, the MC made a convincing bully as “Baby D.” However, Rage has never beat down anything as badly as that amazing Dre production on “Afro Puffs.”

Gear Up Sale at Jockstrap Central
Time to gear up with Jockstrap Central's Gear Up Sale. From now until Friday, March 2nd at midnight get 15% to 50% off hundreds of items. Jockstraps, jock briefs, underwear, sports fetish gear, wrestling singlets, gym shorts, fetish shorts, tank tops, full-frontal display gear and even cock rings are all marked down during the sale.
They've just put their entire collection of jocks, jock briefs, briefs and socks on clearance for 20% off. As much as we love Jockfighters and all their hot gear, they haven't released any new products for a few years so the shelf space is better used for some fresh new sports fetish gear heading your way soon.
Also be sure to checkout our Cellblock 13 department: With the exception of their newly launched Rogue Collection, everything else is on sale. Most of it is 15% off but the Xtreme Hybrid Jocks, Shorts and Harnesses and Octane Fetish Shorts are now all on clearance for 20% off.
Also be sure to check out Nasty Pig - everything is between 15% to 25% off right now - they even have a few black Union Suits left and they are 15% off (the biggest they've every discounted them). Also in the fetish department: Maskulo is 15% to 50% off and their 4 Hunks Berlin Wresting Singlets and Jocks are all 15% off.
A few other things not to be missed - all of their classic sports jock, including their very own JC Athletic and the Original Bike Jockstraps by Meyer are 15% off. All PUMP! jocks, underwear, tanks and socks are 20% to 25% off - over 50 items on sale for PUMP! alone! Their kinky Raw Studio bulge boosting jocks, pouches, full-frontal display gear and cock rings are also 15% off right now.
Essentially, the only things not on sale are some of our most recent bring-ins, and in the case of the McKillop Max Bulge Jocks and super-stylish PPU Jockstraps, they're already pretty damn inexpensive.
