- In that case, I’ll take this space to say: it’s really picking up now! I wasn’t sure at first, but I have decided that I do like this little show. I said earlier that it felt kind of like a movie, and I stand by that. That’s not like a diss or anything, but I feel like it could be a movie plot. They were able to develop it more because it was a short show though, which is good! And because my attention span just keeps getting worse and worse, eps are easier to sit through than a film, so all the better.

Ok I can relate to not knowing how to get a VHS player to work, I got a VHS player in graduation gift, and I had such a hard time making it work lol

Grey’s Anatomy Season 15 episode 21

One hour of romantic comedy, complete with family drama, awkward and hilarious moments. I’ll take it :) After all- I’m more into romantic comedies nowadays, compared to other movie genres. One hour of romantic comedy starring Amelia Shepherd aka Caterina Scorsone as the main protagonist? Oh yes! Bring it on! 😁

*spoiler alert*

When I first heard that there was going to be an Amelia centric episode- I rejoiced. Amelia was my favorite character in PP ( besides Charlotte) and is currently my favorite character on Grey’s. She has come a long way from being a recovering addict and giving birth to an anencephalic baby after her fiancé died of a drug overdose in PP- to now being a high in demand, brilliant and accomplished neurosurgeon, and the head of Neurosurgery Department on Grey’s. Caterina Scorsone portrays her brilliantly.

So this episode, Link and Amelia fly to New York to visit the Catherine Fox Medical Centre to operate on a scoliosis patient named Jonah. It’s just a work trip right? All is well until Amelia meets.. who else but her sister Nancy. Based on what we’ve heard of Nancy and seen of her when she visited Derek, and also judging from Amelia’s initial reaction upon bumping into her, she isn’t an easy person to deal with. Amelia’s big mistake was to play along with Nancy’s assumption that Link was Owen. Amelia could have just simply corrected Nancy and told her the truth that Link was a colleague of hers and they were there to work on a case together. A simple answer like that would have saved Amelia so much trouble. But no... she just had to pretend that Link was her husband- which lead to an entire hour of romantic comedy. You know those romantic comedies- the ones whereby the main male and female characters pretend that they are married to each other to gain something and end up falling in love with each other in the end? Well the first half of this episode was exactly that 😆

Poor Link had to pretend that he was Amelia’s husband, despite not knowing her or Owen that well. 😅He was reluctantly dragged to the dinner at Nancy’s, after some negotiation from Amelia.

The dinner.. was pure family drama! Surprise.. the other sister Kathleen appeared too. Both Nancy and Kathleen took turns interrogating poor Owen, ermmm Link, while taking not so subtle jabs at Amelia. When the real Owen called ( lol!) desperately looking for an item of Leo’s, it was a welcome excuse for Amelia to get away from the table for a while. When she returned to the table and found Owen, I mean Link starting to win the hearts of Kathleen and Nancy- everything seemed fine for the moment.

That was until ... surprise.. Carolyn Shepherd, who might or might not have been invited by Kathleen, appears. And of course she knows that Link is not Owen and calls Amelia out on her bluff. Things go rapidly downhill from there. Kathleen and Nancy immediately attack Amelia for lying to them and for yet another failed relationship. Poor Amelia- having to listen to her mother and sisters list out all her failures, faults and weaknesses in front of Link. How humiliating it must be for her 😞 I’m so glad that Amelia finally decided to take a stand against her family and speak up for herself. She has had enough of being the black sheep of the family! I also really loved how Link also chipped in to defend Amelia, based on the little he knew about her. He’s such a great guy indeed!

Also, we learn that Amelia’s middle name is Frances! Many people spell it as Francis, but I choose to believe it’s this feminine spelling, which suits her much better.

Back in the hospital- I was really rooting for Jonah to pull through the surgery- because I didn’t want Amelia to feel like a failure after being constantly criticized by her family throughout the years and through the entire dinner. It was nerve wrecking when Amelia decided to proceed with a very risky procedure, and I’m so glad it worked!

My favorite scene of the episode was Amelia at the park bench with her mom. They have a strained relationship, and I’m so glad that Carolyn apologized to Amelia, and Amelia accepted the apology. Now we understand Carolyn’s perspective, she entrusted Derek to care for Amelia. ( We didn’t really see him doing that, did we?). The reason Carolyn gave for not turning up at Amelia’s wedding really hurt

:( It was wrong of Carolyn to assume that Amelia’s marriage with Owen wouldn’t last. I’m glad that she admitted it, and the air was cleared between them. It was a sweet moment when they hugged in the end. :)

It was another sweet moment when Amelia apologized to Link and he accepted her apology and donuts. They are so cute together :) I don’t know at this point whether it will develop into something more, or whether they’ll just remain as friends. We’ll have to wait and see.

In the end, Amelia returned Meredith and Maggie- who were ready to listen the stories Amelia had to tell about her trip to New York. She has family after all- and blood doesn’t make family.

One thing- I really wish some of the PP peeps would have appeared in this episode, Addison or Charlotte in particular. They were Amelia’s family in L.A, why doesn’t she seem to keep in touch with them anymore?

Anyways, I can’t wait to find out whether Amelia and Link will develop into something more.

Next week, poor Jo is still showing signs of depression 😞I really hope that Alex will be there by her side to support her and they’ll come out of this stronger than ever 👍💪
