Where to find summer when summer ends?
Tumblr media
The short summer period quickly disappears from most parts of the world at the beginning of September. Temperatures return to low and travelers who haven’t had time to soak up the sun’s rays see the patches of land that can still offer them a final round of rest before next summer dwindle away. Fortunately, even when the rest of the world is in the doldrums, there are destinations that can still welcome you in the water and at the most clement temperatures. Here are three of the must-see destinations!
Let’s start with one of the world’s most popular destinations: Dubai. At just 23°C (average sea temperature), this is a region where the sun never leaves. The Burj Khalifa is undoubtedly the monument that embodies this city’s willingness to brave the desert and the sky for the comfort and pleasure of the eye. Its fine sandy beaches welcome you all year round, and winter is here for a cosy time. If you’re passing through, don’t miss the Jumeirah Mosque either!
If the United States of America is on your agenda, the destination we recommend is the city that proudly lives up to its nickname, synonymous with sunshine even when elsewhere in the country the skies are rumbling with storms and hurricanes: the “sunshine city”, Florida! With an average temperature of 24°C, it’s the ideal place for an unforgettable family holiday and a chance for the kids to visit the legendary Disney. You’ll probably need a car to get around freely between the beach and the other sublime spots in the city, but a hire car is the preferred option.
We would have liked the political climate to have shifted sufficiently to offer a better guarantee of safety in Egypt. In any case, in the meantime, you should know that the coast near the Red Sea is ideal for water sports. If you don’t want to wait, Morocco will meet your expectations. The political climate and the sun go hand in hand here, and even when the temperature drops below zero towards the south, the coastal areas maintain a healthy dose of summer. Hire a car here and enjoy a little more summer than the rest of the world.

Granada to Gibraltar to Cadiz-
We woke up in Granada and Matt and Nali Man walked about a mile to enterprise rental car to pick up our latest ride. This time was the smoothest rental pickup yet, apart form them briefly telling Matt he couldn’t rent without his passport on hand (he had left in the hotel) and initially saying they might not have boosters (they eventually found a paw patrol booster for oil which was big hit!). We then successfully navigated back to the rental apartment (even faster thanks to a fairly large amount of cops directing traffic and waving us through red lights) and parked in a tiny alley to pick up the remainder of the crew. From there it was smooth sailing down some of the largest roads yet to la Linea de Concepcion, where we parked and walked across the border into Gibraltar. The airport runway basically crosses the whole of the entryway into Gibraltar so we had read it was faster to park then walk or bus into town rather than try to wait in long lines to get your car in and around the runway (especially if a plane was coming in). We got through the border easily and had a particularly friendly (and laissez faire?) customs agent on the Gibraltar side and hopped on a bus to the tram station. There was a bit of a disney line to get on the tram but thankfully there was a bathroom halfway along the line which we alll rotated through and eventually we made it to the front and trammed to the top and were greeted by the main reason for the trip immediately when the door opened: Barbary Macaques (apes!). The kids were fired up to look at them for a while and the apes were mostly interested in the one tourist who had a banana in an outside mesh pocked of his backpack despite all sorts of signs saying to be careful with food around them. We took in the views of the rock for a bit, then walked out a trail to the south and saw more apes and views across the strait to the Atlas mountains of Morocco on the way. A little ways along the trail we came to a glass bottomed platform where you could look down below your feet at the massive drop to the beach below, then headed further down the trail to St. Michaels cave which was a very cool cave that was lit so the colors inside were changing every few seconds. It was fun to see the cave and cool off a bit in there as well. From the cave we headed further down the trail, checked out a suspension bridge and then the “apes den” which had been Matt’s initial goal. Alas, the apes den was a bust and no apes were present. Thankfully we’d seen lots of apes in other areas so we decided to keep cruising down the trail and eventually made it into the city of Gibraltar itself and got some well deserved ice cream. Lonely Planet had described the language in Gibraltar as “a sing song mix of Spanish and English” and Matt has decided it is his favorite language so far as he can almost always understand it! We opted to continue walking back from downtown across the border so we could walk across the airport runway and were rewarded by getting to see a plane take off right in front of us.
We again made it through the border smoothly and crammed back in the car for a scenic 1.5 hr drive through a national park and on and off rain to Cadiz. The only hiccup was a massive traffic jam on a one way road to our hotel that made the last 500m or so of our journey take almost an hour. We eventually made it and checked into the hotel (69 euros lighter thanks to Matt’s honesty that Nali Man was also staying with us and them deciding to charge us extra for that even though we already had 2 rooms reserved. After all this excitement the fancy pool was closed for the day so we hit the beach at sunset as well and had sushi for dinner at 10 pm before hitting the hay after perhaps our most action packed day yet.

So I want to make a general-purpose (if I had to choose one topic, it would be to describe symbolic computation ala 'TuringTarpit' around video rental store deque operations) programming language 'Servitor' with specific analogical media and low-tech [any medieval scroll vellum media included] constraints in mind.

Best spot surf in Agadir
Tumblr media
If you are looking for a good surfing plan for Anchor and Agadir, here are some suggestions:
Book or sleep near Anchor Point, one of the best surf spots in the area. This will allow you to easily get to the beach and enjoy the waves. Hotels, hostels, apartment at taghazout the closest point to the anchor point.
If you’re not already an experienced surfer, consider taking surf lessons at a local surf school. There are many surf schools in Agadir and Taghazout.
Rent your surfing equipment locally instead of taking it with you. It’s more convenient and less expensive than carrying your own surfboard. There are several surf rental stores in Taghazout and Agadir.
Explore other surf spots in the area. In addition to Anchor Point, there are other popular surf spots nearby such as Devils Rock, Hash Point and Taghazout Bay. It’s worth visiting these spots for a change of pace and to discover other interesting waves and good feelings.
