Borgward Isabella Concept, 2017. For the second time in the history of the brand Borgward is again facing bankruptcy. The German brand had first gone out of business in 1961 but was resurrected with Chinese backing in 2014. Their model range included 4 combustion engined SUVs and 1 all-electric model. Sales peaked in 2019 but the European launch of the brand failed and plans for a factory in the brand’s historic home town of Bremen were abandoned. The Isabella concept never made it beyond prototype stage and Borgward was declared bankrupt by the First Intermediate People’s Court of Beijing last Wednesday.

Engine manufacturer Cummins Inc. has agreed to pay a $1.675 billion penalty for allegedly installing "defeat devices" on approximately 1 million pickup trucks to cheat emissions tests. It's the largest civil fine ever levied under the Clean Air Act, the Justice Department said Friday.
Defeat devices are designed to "bypass, defeat, or render inoperative emissions controls such as emission sensors and onboard computers," the department said.
Cummins is accused of installing defeat devices or similar equipment on hundreds of thousands of RAM pickup trucks between 2013 and 2023, the department said.
