Note
People act like Cameron blaming Neil’s death (a literal traumatic event in his life, especially if you take the fact that Neil was actively the nicest person towards Cameron in the group) on Keating is the worst thing that happen. Like, Mr. Nolan and Mr. Perry are right there (actual adults that are terrible people in general). Knox obsession with Chris is a lot creepier and worst than Cameron’s action. I said what I said.
this exactly!! cameron's actions were a poor reaction to a literal traumatic event, he was dealing with grief at a young age, not to mention grieving someone who died by suicide, which is far different from someone just dying of old age or in an accident, he didn't know what to do and he lashed out because he was told getting rid of keating would keep his friends safe and couldn't think clearly after what they all went through. not to mention we keep blaming cameron for being a bad friend as if the rest of the group shut him off every time he tried to speak during the entire movie and left him to grieve on his own when they found out neil was dead???? the point i'm trying to get across isn't "oh the dps was horrible and bullies and cameron was the poor victim during the whole film" or "they weren't really friends anyways so it's okay ig !!" , obviously, but i still think we should consider how they treated him before we start pointing fingers. the actual point is, cameron freaked out, went too far trying to keep himself and his friends safe and got what he deserved for it, a negative reaction from them. he made a mistake as we all might have in his situation.
knox on the other hand continuously stalked and harassed a girl while she was clearly uncomfortable, told him to stop many times and was already in a relationship, he did all of this while being in a completely clear state of mind (and i'm not hearing any 'blinded by love' bullshit on this because 1. it's bullshit 2. he wasn't even actually in love with her he met her like three times), and he still got rewarded and praised for it.knox's incredibly harmful, selfish, creepy behavior is not comparable to cameron reacting poorly to trauma.
