‘Walk With Me’ is a testament to trusting and not rushing the creative process. This song saw a few different verses, potential hooks, revisions, struggles with art and titles but I can say now full heartedly that I am proud of the final version of ‘Walk With Me’ to be released on Friday May 21st. Make sure you hit the presave link in my BIO and add this song to your favourite playlist so you don’t miss the drop. Originally Mickey Factz wasn’t supposed to be on ‘Walk With Me’. The original track had Jacobi the Giant and a verse from another artist. I played a rough version of the song, with no hook, back in October 2020 on the ‘constructive criticism’ show by @breakalegent with @kosannot & @carvomusic with @mickey.factz as a guest. This was Mickey’s response after hearing the rough track. “Aye Nate ... why wasn’t I called for this”. His feedback was that the first artist (Jacobi) “went crazy” but the second artist didn’t bring enough energy. Hearing this from one of my favourite artists you know I had to hit up Mickey for a verse. Once that verse came in the song started to come together, even ended up getting Mickey to the hook. Last year, on January 17th 2020, I released the first single and title track from my EP Full Circle. The song featured Junk, DJ Flipout and Mickey Factz. As many already know this project, and single are very special to me. This track specifically held a lot of significance. The Mickey Factz feature was a very big deal for me. Before Hip Hop production I was a snowboarder, and in 2008 I filmed what would be my last video part due to injury. For that video part I used a Mickey Factz song. Almost a decade later I released my first project with a verse from MICKEY FACTZ. Well, it’s been over a year now since the release of that single and just over a year since the release of the full EP and, guess what? I’m dropping another song with Mickey Factz. If you haven’t tapped in with the lyrical genius yet you are sleeping and missing out. This new track is called Walk With Me and also features one of the hardest rappers from Vancouver with some of the rawest lyrics and bars, Jacobi the Giant. Came along way since my first “studio” circa 2010/2011 ❤️ ... How it started vs How it’s Going The first picture shown is the earliest photo I can find of my first home / bedroom studio. This was taken sometime in October 2011 in Vancouver. Check the iPod on the desk!!! I’m actually still using the same desk (Ikea Jerker), still running an iMac, still running a motu traveler interface and still running a Maschine MK1. (If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!) Second image on show some of the upgrades, add ons and modifications since. Only piece of equipment not shown is my tape reel to reel which I’m currently trying to repair. What’s keeping you inspired during these times? We’re still under “stay at home order” here in Ontario and I gotta admit I’m finding it tough to stay inspired and motivated. I love my home studio in terms of a creative space. I’ve surrounded myself with dope art, vinyl and motivational pieces (ie. framed full circle vinyl), however being in the same place day in and day out is starting to get a bit much.
