2015, Hoenn.
"Kid... Kid you gotta drink."
The perks of being scuppered among one of the higher sandbars in the East Hoenn Sea were few and far between, but they were there. The Crew of the Lucky Mudkip was taking shifts trying to channel power into the ship's acid burned emergency radio, while two of them were doing their damnedest keeping him functioning. A woman with salt-beaten lips- Courtney, he thinks, was keeping him wrapped in cold towels because whatever fever he had was burning him alive.
Two crewmates on board had seen a seizure in real life before, and at least they didn't panic when he had dropped after they left port in Lillycove. Their Pokemon partners were resting after the incident.
From the shelter of the half of the boat that was above water, stuck in the sand, they hid from a steady downpour of January rain, and Red stared from his spot in the sand.
He was a rugged looking young man, nineteen and to be twenty later that year, with sharp features and tangled messy hair. He had a hat nearby he usually wore on his head, and the ship doctor had taken his jacket to use as a pillow for his head when he lied down to recover.
He was the kind of sick that would have him rushed to a hospital. His head was heavy, his body was burning, and he was succumbing to intermittent seizures without knowing why. The seizures were exactly why he didn't send Pikachu out.
His mouse would become sick with him outside of the protective capsule of his Poke Ball, and it wasn't something Red was willing to change with a Dragalge the size of the schooner somewhere.
Somewhere close.
The other half of the ship was downed, and resting at the bottom of the sea, along with the other 9 passengers. He was the only passenger who was topside (for illness), and he was the only passenger alive. Completely accidentally.
Red takes the water cup from Courtney and lifts it to his peeled lips, sipping cold water down while grimacing at how badly his throat hurt. He can't communicate like this- he can barely move his hand to write or speak.
Someone howls from outside to LOOK.
There's a break in the vicious waves out at sea, and a frilled head pokes through the surface, belting out a horn-like roar.
There it is.
They're lucky they have a bit of distance from the shore. Otherwise they'd all be dead.
Red drank the water down barely, and set it aside, dragging himself by his hands towards his rolled up jacket and sorting through the miniaturized capsules in his pockets.
Sick or not...
He felt around fever blind for any of his monsters, their panic catching like fire on his skin. He picked one, vicious and brutal and willing to fight sick, and he grabbled the capsule to Courtney's shriek of "No- don't even think about it kid!"
Red tossed the ball at the sand, and it opened with a burst of light, the shape slithering out of it huge and imposing. Rainbow fractals shimmered on the carcass of the Lucky Mudkip and her terrified crew, as Milotic moved forward through the sand to challenge the monster.

Shantae Pokemon Teams...2!
So, when Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were released, I did a special crossover post to celebrate. So, now that the last of the SV DLC has released...I decided to do it again!
Like last time, spoilers for Pokemon from The Indigo Disk, though only like...ONE minor thing that wasn't in the trailers. I'm mostly just mentioning it for people who want to go in blind
Before we do anything, I'm going to make some quick alterations to my teams from last time, starting with:
Vera - Grass Type Specialist
Lilligant
Exeggutor
Roserade
Ferrothorn
Appletun -> Hydrapple
Leavanny
...I mean. Come on. Multi-headed apple dragon. I kinda had to make the alteration. Anyway, next and final one:
Harmony - Ground Type Specialist -> All-Rounder/No Specialty
Mudsdale
Garganacl
Conkeldurr
Archaludon
Blissey
Mamoswine
I still stand by the fact that Harmony would be a champion rather than an Elite Four member...and, well, they tend to have a more generalized team than a specific specialty. So! Adjusted Harmony's team to properly reflect this.
Now, to characters I HAVEN'T covered before...
Twitch and Vinegar - Fire/Poison Type Specialists
Turtonator
Dragalge
Darmanitan
Toxicroak
Scovillain
Vileplume
I put these two together because I figured they would be a dual battle Gym Leader type of situation - Twitch with the fire Pokemon, Vinegar with the poison Pokemon.
Squid Baron - Water Type Specialist
Octillery
Crawdaunt
Seismitoad
Quagsire
Tentacruel
Barbaracle
I mean. I feel like this one should be fairly obvious
Ammo Baron - Fighting Type Specialist
Machamp
Falinks
Crabominable
Annihilape
Pangoro
Sawk
Unfortunately there is not an explosion type (and if the closest one to it is, well. gestures to Twitch), so I went with the next best thing and chose Fighting
Hypno Baron - Ghost Type Specialist
Spiritomb
Banette
Mismagius
Dusknoir
Chandelure
Golurk
The nice thing about Rottytops being a Pokemon Coordinator rather than a Gym Leader is that I can have Type overlap with Hypno Baron, who is the ACTUAL Ghost Gym Leader.
Techno Baron - Dark Type Specialist
Honchkrow
Weavile
Scrafty
Malamar
Bombirdier
Krookodile
Techno Baron was...a tough one, to say the least, considering I AM saying he's a Gym Leader and Steel and Electric were already taken on the Gym Leader front, so! Had to improvise! Something of a stretch, but: Techno Baron is a capitalist, with all the dubious morality that implies. He really is suited to the dark type
Holly Lingerbean - Bug Type Specialist
Scolipede
Orbeetle
Masquerain
Volcarona
Vespiquen
Scizor
Would have gone for Psychic but, ah, that one's being used by someone a tiny bit more important, so...going the Wilbur route it was! I may be the only dedicated Holly Lingerbean fan here but I had to try on some level. Speaking of - we're out of gym leader spots and I can't figure out where to place who, so just imagine one of the characters from here or last time being part of the Elite Four instead. That's all
With this I've covered...mostly everyone with a few exceptions. If you want to see this through to the end, feel free to tell me so and I'll consider it!

“Do you know this part of the world well?“
Meme || Not accepting @the-wandering-rock-collector
Tumblr media
It is a harmless statement which stops the younger champion in her tracks. Steps upon ancient rock come to a halt, the crunching of debris fading into the roaring of distant waterfalls. This part of the world—it is a tiny one, when compared to the entirety of the earth, but one that Serena has had the opportunity to immerse herself once before, albeit for a different reason entirely. Meteor Falls. A place that reminds the blonde of her hometown, despite how the locations could not look any less alike. An ancestral home of people whose origins stem back to times well before recorded history, a marvel of nature turned sanctuary. How odd it feels, to be back in this place without accompanying someone with wisdom far beyond the heroine’s years, or on her way back to the residence so generously offered to the young woman. To not be here for rigorous training or the pursuit of knowledge in regards to dragon-type pokemon.
“Oh, I… I do not know if I would say that I know it well, but…”
There is a clearing of her throat, the corners of lips tugging upwards into that of a gentle smile. Has Steven seen everything this place has to offer, she wonders? Surely, given his own interests outside of battling, he must have. Among glittering limestone and clear, cyan waters—truly, this is a place that has captured the young woman’s heart, and so, surely Steven, the champion of the region it resides in, must feel the same. He must know of its history, its importance, down to the finest detail.
“…I have been here before. To learn how to properly train and care for my Dragalge. I stayed with the Draconids not too far from this spot.”
And what a great deal she owes to all of those that she spoke with, for they have contributed to the happiness and strength of her beloved Oleander every bit the same as herself—one of the reasons he can hold his head up high and take immense pride in his innate power. A laugh slips from the blonde’s lips, and the smile on her features only dares to grow.
“But I’m sure you would still know this place far better than I do.”

Can you tell us about the bug type gym? Bug types are my favorite but they don't get enough love and the gym being last makes me think it's the strongest, which is interesting.
Jackson Mquires is what everyone immediately will say is a stoner. Because he is one. The man cannot go one fucking week without pulling a per test positive for fucking anything.
Does he give Pokémon the shit he uses? Hell no. He may be a ducking idiot b it he didn’t get to be top of the line Gun leader for giving his precious ‘Mons steroids. He’s childhood best friends with Eric and they both rag on each other since their so opposites.
Laid back with a very hippyish style of choice. He’s dark skinned with long healthy dreads and you can always spot him hanging with Lily Nova, the poison type Gym Leader, at her gym hanging out and watching her do her work outs while tossing sugary snacks at her. Rumors among the league say their secretly dating, other’s say their each others beards to get their over protective parents off their backs.
He’s very lanky, standing at almost 8 feet tall, and not all that strong physically wise. Basically a standing string of a tree. With gold eyes, and oddly enough, white freckles dotting his skin. Doctors has ruled it ‘albino freckles’ though that’s not the technical term.
Jackson comes from a very rich family. The youngest of ten siblings and apparently the only one successful enough in life to warrant his parents “effection”. Their constantly trying to push him to go for the champion title but Jackson likes keeping his head on his shoulders and his team with their limbs attacked thank you very much. Eric is to cemented to be pulled from the title without a war happening.
Maya Mquires is the proud family owner of a long line of dentists and she has multiple practices across Orago, Unova, and Sinnoh. She’s very much a Karen on steroids and bitches about everyone and anything if it doesn’t go her way. She specializes in fire types and her main Pokémon is her guard dog Houndoom.
Micheal Mquires is also a straight lace, no nonsense, military veteran. Even Lieutenant Surge despises the guy. He’s also a brilliant scientists and works with a bunch of backers on vaccines and other human body shit. He doesn’t have specializes in typing and his only Pokémon is a Garchomp.
Nidoking is his lovely evolved starter. He’s been with him since birth, as per family tradition on his mother’s side. Crobat, Skuntank, and Toxicroak were caught all in the same time. Dragalge was the first, and last, gift from his grandfather before the man past. The only reason why he was even given the old Dragon is because he’s “the only one with brains enough to deal with her.” Dragalge was his prized possession and it going to Jackson was like a slap to the face to his daughter. Garbodor is the last to join the crew, caught as a Trubbish in the back of his gym with its garbage bag ripped from scavenging Pokémon. He nursed it back to health and now she’s a vital part of the team.

What are your Top 5 Yugioh characters and your Top 10 favorite Pokemon?
This turned out to be a pretty long answer since I didn’t want to just list out the names, so I’ll put this under a cut
Top 5 Yu-Gi-Oh! characters:
5. Atem: This answer may change whenever I get around to watching more of DM subbed and see more of the differences between the original and dub version of the character, but for now, I think I’d include him in the top five. He was the first Yu-Gi-Oh! that I really liked. He is a kind of traditionally cool protagonist type, but he had more going for him than just the cool factor. He still had emotionally vulnerable moments and flaws, primarily his pride and anger getting the better of him. His bond with his friends, especially Yugi and Jonouchi, was touching and the mystery behind his lost memories was pretty interesting. Atem’s loyalty to his friends and willingness to protect others made him admirable. I loved how Yugi taught him the strength in kindness while he was able to help Yugi discover his confidence. He’s just a really cool and likable lead character.
4. Judai: I didn’t think I’d like Judai this much when I watched GX dub. Watching the series subbed definitely gave me a new appreciation for his character. He’s likable from the start. He can be blunt and not know the best way to handle situations, but he does genuinely care about his friends and knows when he has to be serious when major duels are on the line. While I still find season three to be a bit overrated, Judai’s development from season three and what I’ve seen of season four is really solid. He’s easily one of the best developed protagonists thus far. There are long lasting consequences to what happen during those seasons. Judai can’t completely go back being to the happy go-lucky person he was during the first two seasons, but he was able to regain a bit of his love of dueling as he kept moving forward towards his future.
3. Jack: Jack is easily my favorite rival. I thought he was just a jerk at first, but then he explained everything to Yusei before their match in the Fortune Cup and demanding for his friends to be let go before said match. That showed that he had some honor and respect towards Yusei. His development during the Dark Signer arc was great. He felt genuine regret for his actions and was starting to become a better person once he recognized that. I loved his relationship with Carly and even with how the second half of the series turned out, I’d still say it is canon. He was still fun and likable in the second half of the series. He became a bit too comedic at points, the show forgot that he could combine power and strategy before and the retcon with Godwin fixing his matches for Jack to become King was really a really bad and unnecessary change, but he was still pretty likable and fun to watch in spite of those changes.
Needless to say, I was so excited when he returned in Arc V. I think the Arc V version of Jack is tied with the original 5D’s version, or at least it’s close. Jack fits the mentor/traditional rival role for Yuya so well. He provides the most development for Yuya and their duels are really great, especially their second match. I still love that Arc V Jack had everything that 5D’s Jack wanted without betraying his friends in the process, but he’s still so miserable until Yuya finally provides him the challenge he wanted. That says a lot about what Jack ultimately wanted in the end.
2. Sho: Sho is one of the most relatable characters for me. He’s shy, he has self-confidence problems and even though he is distant from his older brother, he still admires him. I related to him right away and his development throughout GX was handled really well. He slowly became more confident, they even made his doubt in Judai during season three a really great subplot and his duel during season four was a great way to show how far he had come, as well as give him a good sense of closure. While GX is full of really good and likable characters, I don’t think that Sho gets as much attention as he should.
1. Yuya: This probably isn’t a huge surprise, but Yuya is by far my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! character. He’s so likable, relatable and complex. He struggles with a lot of emotional problems throughout the series, such as low self-esteem, self-doubt and depression, all of which was the result of losing his father and then being bullied for years. Struggling through emotional problems that were partly the result of bullying does hit pretty close to home for me, even if the circumstances were obviously different, so that made him more relatable. Some people didn’t like how he would be determined to move forward only for something out of his control to push him emotionally backwards, which I can understand to a degree, but that happens with me all the time, so that just makes me relate to Yuya even more.
I think one of my favorite things about Yuya is that even with his emotional conflicts, he genuinely wants to make people happy through his dueling and he keeps trying to work through his problems to realize his goal. It’s idealistic as can be, but it is admirable, especially with everything he goes through during the series. His development is terrific, he has some really entertaining duels, especially when he does find his own dueling style, and his desire to make everyone smile is really sincere. I absolutely loved that he had the confidence to say that he’d become a better Entertainment Duelist than his father at the end of the series. Considering he was only focused on becoming as great as his father, that was a pretty major moment and provided a good sense of closure for him as well. He is my favorite character in the franchise by far.
Top 10 Pokemon:
I’ll just list off a few Pokemon that I really like since I already gave my top five:
Dragalge is probably my favorite Poison type. It has a unique design, typing and I have really enjoyed raising one in my Ultra Sun team.
Mew is one of my favorite Legendary Pokemon. It has a cute and simple design that really works for it.
Suicune is another one of my favorite Legendary Pokemon. I love its elegant design and its role in Crystal/HeartGold/SoulSilver.
Lugia is another one of my favorite Pokemon. It has an awesome design that shows how powerful and cool it is.
Charizard is pretty cool. It does get a lot of praise, but it is the coolest of the original starters and looking so much like a dragon probably helped. Mega Charizard X is pretty awesome too.
Salamence is pretty awesome. It has a great design and I love that it evolved wings due to Bagon’s desire to fly.
Leafeon is another new favorite. I always liked its design, but raising one in Ultra Sun after wanting to raise one for so long made me like it even more. It’s probably either my third or fourth favorite Eevee evolution at this point.
Mudsdale is such a cool Pokemon. I love its design. It looks like it would be fun to ride all over Alola on a Mudsdale, It has a great ability and it was really useful on my Moon team.
Lycanroc is so great. I love all of its forms, although I do have more of a soft spot for the Midday form and the Dusk form grew on me after awhile. It just looks so tough and cool. Plus, having a more offensive and fast Rock type is pretty neat. I’ve loved raising one in my Sun and Ultra Sun teams.
Manectric is one of my favorite Electric types and one of my favorite canine based Pokemon as well. It has a cool color scheme and can be really useful in battle.
Thank you for asking. ^_^

Pokemon Verse:
Tumblr media
{Old Pokemon card that he doesn’t have the heart to change.}
Tumblr media
Name: Ricardo Ramos
Age: 18-19
Pokemon:  Xatu, Kingdra, Dragalge, Greninja, Medicham, Mienshao
Trainer Class: Psychic (He can only read souls, and see the future somewhat.)
Hometown: Jotho
Likes to visit: Alola
Favorite Pokemon: Anything that has a big heart or a fighting spirit. Personality: Ricardo is a very honest young boy, and will state what is troubling people or help them out even if no one ever asked him too. The reason for this is because, you see this young man can not chill for one moment. He has to state what is wrong or help someone, because he can sense it in there soul, which he can read. And if the pain or problem is big enough it will hurt him as well. So he has not choice but to state the problem not caring what you think or have to say. Because of this he also comes off as a jerk who knows too much. When really he is just psychic who can’t control his powers, and has gotten used to them thanks to his pokmeon. Who are the only ones it seems that he likes compared to most humans.
Bio: Ever since he could remember he always had psychic powers and could do things that most humans couldn’t. But thanks to his pokemon he was able to be in a good state of mind. Now a bit older and wiser he is traveling to locations he has never been too before, and hopes to one day find the truth of the pokemon world. Like the ghost world/dimension.
Pokemon
Tumblr media
Xatu Gender: Male Nickname: None Nature: Calm Moves: Air Slash Fly Psychic Dazzling Gleam Bio: Little 8 year old Ricardo founded him when he was a Natu and it was in a weak state. So he patched him up and ever since then they have been inseparable. Xatu was also always there when Ricardo has his psychic breakdowns. Just him being there always helped out the trainer a great deal. Years later he found out that his Natu was a shiny, and the reason he found him in a weak state could have been because the Natu’s family abandon him for being a said shiny. Also as a side note: Natu liked to go on Ricardo’s head when it was smaller. Now that its older and a Xatu. It dosen’t understand that it’s not a baby anymore.
Tumblr media
Kingdra Gender: Male Nickname: King Nature: Rash Moves: Surf Hydro Pump Ice Beam Rain Dance Bio: A horsea he got on his very first pokemon adventure to Kanto. During there time together the little horsea was always a great help to him, and was the one who really opened Ricardo up to the ocean waters. So even if he is a psychic trainer he has a huge soft spot for water pokemon because of him. Kingdra is also the perfect swimming buddy. Helping Ricardo find items form the ocean sea and some berries from small islands.
Tumblr media
Dragalge Gender: Female Nickname: Empress Nature: Hasty Moves: Sludge Wave Thunder Water Pulse Dragon Tail Bio: When ever he was in Kalos waters Ricardo always felt eyes on him. Those eye’s belonged to no other then a stubborn Skrelp who fell in love with the trainers Seadra at the time. So she would track him down until Ricardo would notice her. It took a few tries but Ricardo saw the Skrelp and sensed it’s determination in her and wanted the pokemon in his team. The trainer did noticed how stubborn she was and saw the Skrelp adorable enough to be called Princess. But she hated the name and Ricardo just called her Empress, which she saw as a better fit for herself. Both Ricardo and Kingdra have no idea that Empress has a crush on King.
Tumblr media
Greninja Gender: Male Nickname: Shadow Nature: Gentle Moves: Water Shuriken Spikes Night Slash Giga Impact Bio: Ricardo decided a long time ago that he wanted his starter to be a Froakie. He felt that if he ever got one that it would be this serious pokemon that would keep him in check. And once he reached Kalos and was able to pick his starter. What he got was this happy go lucky sweet Froakie who seemed to not like fighting. This worried Ricardo at the start, but later it was shown that Froakie is a pokemon who only fights when he has to. And once he because a Grenija his Gentle nature showed even more. He would notice things wrong with his team before Ricardo, and resolve most of the problems. Because of this he comes off as the cool uncle of the group, that the others really do like and respect.
Tumblr media
Mega Medicham Gender: Male Nickname: Nature: Serious Moves: Meditate High Jump Kick Counter Shadow Ball Bio: On his pokemon adventure to Hoenn he was given a Meditite by someone from the mountains. They didn’t say why. They just gave it to him and left. Ricardo didn’t know why this happened. but he felt like it was fate that he was given this pokemon. Because this was the one who helped him control his future seeing ability as well as his soul reading. During battles Ricardo knew it’s strength and ability it had under him. So for a month straight Ricardo trained under the new evolved Medicham knowing that this would help him. After that he better understands his power as a psychic trainer, and his pokemon Medicham. Making there bond in sink with each other. And once he knew about mega evolution. You bet him and his Medicham trained hard to be able to control it’s power. Which is why Medicham is the power house of the team. In fact there bond is so much in sink that they copy each other with out knowing it.
Tumblr media
Mienshao Gender: Female Nickname: None Nature: Bashful Moves: Poison Jab Drain Punch Attract Aura Sphere Bio: When Ricardo turned 14 his aunt bought him a Mienfoo egg that she knew he would love. And once it hatch Ricardo was so happy because he loved the blue coat on the pokemon. So for a long time because of it’s coat he thought that she was a he. And once he was told of her gender he felt really bad for mistaking that for her. But despite this she loves Ricardo very much and would even practice fighting with each other to get stronger. She also knows how beautiful she is but it never goes to her head. Which is why if you ever told her how pretty her pink coat is, or how lovely she fights she’ll get embarrassed, but accept the complement.
