Last nights celebration of the summer solstice, yes, I know it’s early, was one for the memory books. The crowd was small, intimate really, with way to much good food left over, with a purifying and clarifying bonfire, with bouquets of intentions, and with oil lamps of gratitude. Redeeming the moments of Litha has been a fun challenge over the years but with the best intentions and the fragrant smells of summer flowers will always bring my heart centered to the one who thought of them in the first place. March 17, 2017 Campfire Grill 3003 Walden Avenue Depew, NY 14043 Most people would be having corn beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's Day. Not the fish fry gal! Beer battered, skinless cod truly had a beer flavor. The fish was cooked perfectly. (9) The fries are skin on, hand cut that were limp and lacked taste.(5) Along with the tartar sauce, all of the sides are home made. Cole slaw was a disappointment with finely shredded cabbage that lacked flavor.(5). Some creative side options! Fresh fruit! What!? Baked beans (7) and German potato salad (7). Just my 2 cents but they should Cook the German the day before for better flavor. Now let's talk about what blew my mind! Mac salad was mini shells with celery, onion and egg. (10) Potato salad was mustard, onion, celery, egg heaven! (10) Nice family place. Restaurant not a bar. Good for large parties. Plenty of parking. This family run gem shows pride in ownership. They make you feel very welcome. Overall rating 8. Would go back just for the mac and potato salad! Yup they were THAT good! Well the luck of the Irish was with us! We will be back to try their much talked about breakfast.

Friday Night #campfiregrill was all about the turkey. Can’t just cook a turkey without all the thanksgiving sides, right!? Last night the sides were a dish unto themselves. We also tried to make the entire dinner: gluten, soy, sugar, dairy, and latex free but there were the die hards that could not fathom thanksgiving without dinner rolls and stuffing.
