A very important thing to remember about resurrection in dungeons and dragons is that, no matter the spell, bringing someone back from the dead requires the soul to be free and willing. No matter how much power you pump into a raise dead, or true resurrection, if the soul says "Nah, I'm good here.", they don't come back. We saw this in previous campaigns where players discussed the times they got ressed, and how they had to decide -if- they wanted to come back to life, no matter if the ritual succeeded. Percy straight up wouldn't have come back if not for Vex's admission and argument in favor of his return.
And that's what makes Deanna fascinating to me, because she was in that ocean, that place beyond, and reconstituted enough to be herself again in order to be offered the choice to go back. She said yes, but it seems that now she regrets that choice. And that's a deep and fascinating concept to explore.
So don't get it twisted, even by her, into thinking she was brought back against her will. Unless Exandria is the most horrifying setting ever, a soul must be willing, or it will not return. Because not only does it not fit the rules, it's way less interesting.

Friendly reminder that even in Scanlan's dream of the future, when Vox Machina is old(er) - Vax is still wearing his armour.
Everyone is dressed in their ball outfits from season one (with Keyleth's in red rather than green). But Vax is still in that armour, still her champion.
It feels all types of sad in retrospect

I’m thinking about the Boots of Haste.
I’m thinking about this magic item so overpowered that their properties are absorbed into the TLOVM version of the Deathwalker’s Ward, into a Vestige.  About what this retroactively applies to their meaning in the campaign. The Haste activating with the golden glow of piss armor fate - is the Haste allowing him to react to destiny in real time? Is it moving him to its whims? Or is it tied to Vax’ildan, Fate-Touched, free of  the weave, all the threads pooling in the armor as he strikes neatly between the threads of fate, cuts them as he desires?
I’m thinking about what the Boots of Haste, in the campaign, mean for the twins. They’re Vax’s boots, without question, until he gives them to Vex before they face the dragon the killed their mother - and then it becomes a thing. Vex being lent the boots and making a show of not wanting to give them back. How by this point they are heroes of Tal’Dorei, of the world, and they banter about these like they’re kids again tussling over a toy, a little levity, a little delight. Because they’re twins first and foremost. It’s a game, it’s their game.
I don’t want to think about Vecna. I don’t want to think about Vax, turned to dust but his magical possessions, that Vax was gone but those fucking boots remained. Vex, absolutely devastated, putting them on. The rest of the cast, OOC, immediately teasing her for being greedy, for looting her brother. But that’s not it, is it? Because that’s what she has left of him, because she knows Vax would insist she wear them so they’ll keep her alive. Because she can pretend, maybe, he’ll try to steal them back. He has to. He always does.
I’m going to stop thinking, now, and just offer these lines from episode 105, and let them do more than my musings could:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m… thinking, again, now, about the last thing Vex’ahlia de Rolo ever says to her brother, Champion of Ravens, at her wedding. An attempt to play, to buy more time, to keep him here longer, or keep part of him here.
Tumblr media
I’m asking you to think about what the Boots of Haste mean. About survival against the odds, about freedom, about fate - but about petty sibling antics, about finding normalcy when everything is wrong, about love in the little things. About how the Boots of Haste are overpowered, yes - but what matters is that they’re Vax’s, even in divinity, and that’s why Vex wanted them at all. At the end of the day, she just wants her brother. She just wants Vax.
And I suppose I’m wondering what TLOVM will do, without those fucking boots.

Okay, we've seen Grog need help escaping the evil sword. We've seen Fjord heroically overcome the evil sword. Now let's hope we get Chetney just fucking with the evil sword for shits and gigs.

TLOVM season 2 bingo! (C1 spoilers)
Tumblr media
Watched Campaign 1 and kept a running list of moments I hoped to see in s2. Tried to pick some obscure ones instead of just the obvious hits! Makes it more challenging.
Image description below the cut.
[Image Description: Bingo chart. “The Legend of Vox Machina Season 2″ is written at the top in fancy black font. Below it are the letters for “BINGO” in fancy purple font. The B column has the following entries, from top to bottom: “Grog talks to Craven Edge in an outhouse,” “Vox Machina laugh at ‘Purvon,’” “Vax walk of shame from Keyleth’s room,” “Percy electrocutes himself trying to recharge Diplomacy,” and “Vox Machina is a bad influence on Velora.” I column has the following entries, from top to bottom: “Cannonball contest,” “Percy  makes a seat for Vex’s broom,” “Grog gets to wear his unicorn horn hat,” “Vax refers to Percy as ‘Freddie’ or ‘Whitey,’” and “Percy knows Craven Edge is cursed and doesn’t say anything.” N column has the following entries, from top to bottom: “Vax shaves half of Grog’s beard,” “Pike is referred to as a ‘monstah,’” “Free Space: ‘Lady Vex’ahlia, Baroness of the Third House of Whitestone and Grand Mistress of the Grey Hunt,” “Life needs things to live,” and “Grog briefly gets more intelligent as a giant eagle.” G column has the following entries, from top to bottom: “Percy makes some trick arrows for Vex,” “No theatre!” “Vex and Vax childhood flashbacks,” “Keyleth gets to be a flaming meteor (Keyteor),” and “Vaxleth kiss.” Finally, the O column has the following entries, from top to bottom: “Vex accidentally shoots Scanlan in the neck while she is riding her broom,” “Kash is interested in Keyleth,” “Vex wears a pointed hat,” “Polymachina joke,” and “Your secret is safe with my indifference.” End description.]

Was just hit with the thought that if/when TLOVM does its version of “A Bard’s Lament” (if it’s adapted close to the stream version) it might open with a flashback to Juniper Shorthalt being killed by the goblin ;_;

Re the recent poll, which ep does vex tell keyleth about her kiss with Percy? Newer CR fan here :) thanks!!
Hi there!
That happens in episode 73, "The Coming Storm", around the 48-minute mark. This is after Vex and Keyleth have harassed Kashaw a bit. It's such a cute conversation in-character, but elevated OOC by the fact Laura and Marisha are dressed as Lady Briarwood and Ripley for Halloween! 😂

Sam at some point in the Episode 51 madness, I don't recall exactly when: "...And then in comes SCANLAN SHORTHALT!" General laughter and merriment at Sam's funny goof.
Matthew Mercer, fully aware of what he's going to do to the Champion of Ravens at the end of the night and the fact that once it's done it'll only be possible to rescue him with Dispel Magic at Level 9: 🙂

tlovm season 3 idea - instead of going to draconia to fight vorugal and get the spire of conflux they go to terrah. i'm pretty sure we're ignoring draconia cos in the tv series we have no connection to it. and this way we continue to advance keyleth's aramente plot

Going through the Vecna fight for my AU really underlined just how much affection the twins made a point of showing to their respective SOs.
Vax, Vax who expects to die for good after this, stealing every kiss he can from Kiki:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Vex'ahlia 'using every excuse to kiss Percy' de Rolo just... holds his hand. Be close to him. Share a few words. Every chance she gets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(It’s also worth noting that Pike has them all hold hands before the battle starts, and holds Grog's hand as they end it)
Ft. the bonus Ow of Vax looking back at VM (and then retconning the next attack so he doesn't fuck up n kill Vecna)
Tumblr media
Just. Man. So much love stored in the twins
(And it hurts, almost, that due to Vax being in melee and Vex staying at range that they can't share any quick moments together. But it's always been like that, and Vax flies headfirst into the face of a god of secrets while Vex attacks and heals and saves their baby sister at range)
(Or maybe it speaks to their growth, shedding that codependent fear, that they both look first to the love of their life and, at the end, eachother)

Vaxleth AU where Vax ends up living and him and Keyleth reside together in Zephrah. The two of them end up getting married and a few years later basically adopt Orym.
Vax, not having that good father in his life, wanted to provide only the best for Orym and immediately stepped up. He would walk Orym everywhere, from school to his play dates with Derrig's family (which they were close with). With every doorknob that came around, Vax would lift Orym up so he could reach it himself.
Orym had always somewhat been a quiet child. But it peaked in his teenage years when he found himself crushing on Derrig's son, Will. This internal guilt alongside not knowing how Vax would react if he had found out left him staying quiet most of the time.
Vax, after a bit, noticed something was off and sat his son down privately. Orym admitted this weird feeling of liking his childhood best friend, and Vax reassured him that Orym was normal for his feelings and that it was okay, and that Vax would forever love him.
Vax later saw Orym light up in the following weeks as he began dating Will. Orym ended up telling his parents before anyone else about their engagement, and Vax was in tears as he walked Orym down the aisle.
Orym may have been adopted, but he would forever be Vax and Keyleth's halfling son.

I JUST HAD A THOUGHT and it's so painfully cute.
Say Vesper goes to school, right? And the school does a little concert/recital thing and of course Percy and Vex are there, as well as Cass.
And Scanlan and Pike and Grog and Keyleth and Kaylie and Tary.
They take up one entire row.
