Have always wanted to sketch a meal from IKEA, but never had a chance ‘cos for years I only go to the mega store with my family, and that usually meant no time to sketch.

This late afternoon I had to wait to pick up my car from the salon near the Alexandra Rd, so I took a short walk to IKEA, ordered this combo and got down to work.

What I was doing drew many curious looks especially from kids, who stopped to peer over my shoulder, and also the 2 friendly cleaning staff (I was sitting just next to the tray return station).

Felt very satisfied after I was done, with both the sketch and the food. 🥰😋

Glad to have had my me time and meditation for the day. 🙏🏼😌

Day 6 of #28daychallenge during P2HA2. Theme: All Things Beautiful My piece from this morning’s Sketchwalk. Was supposed to have headed out to sketch, but woke up to torrential rain in the west. So, stay at home and sketch based on two themes: 1. All Things Beautiful and 2. Something Patriotic (Or Home, Truly), the theme of our sketchwalk this morning. This is my work desk in my bedroom (no choice, not enough room to have a dedicated workspace). To the right is half of my work table, and to the left, a long cushion-turned-storage area. Most times of the year, it’s a mess. But it’s MY mess, and it’s beautiful (to me) in its own way. ✌🏼😁 It’s the view I see every single day, as I spent most of my day here due to WFH arrangements during this pandemic. It’s MySpace; the real one. Out the window is the gorgeous Ulu Pandan skyline. It was only this morning when I was looking for something Singapore-related that I realised the mini flag was there (have been since last year’s National Day). Day 9 of #28daychallenge during P2HA2. Theme: All Things Beautiful For today’s challenge, I added color to the piece I sketched during #ALSWHanoi2019, but didn’t manage to finish ‘cos of a major ink spill. Hanoi, to me is one of the most sketchable cities in the world, especially the Old Quarter, where everything is either rustically gorgeous or gorgeously rustic. Or both. There is just an energy about it, which I attribute it to the very industrious yet friendly people. And not to mention, the Food! 😋 Unfortunately I didn’t get to do a lot of sketches during that trip due to responsibilities. Day 5 of #28daychallenge during P2HA2. Theme: All Things Beautiful Anyone who knows me enough would know I have a soft spot for sneakers. Too soft. Don’t even ask me how many pairs of sneakers I own (or have gone through). By most people’s standards, the number is a prolly little obscene. For a guy. My age. OK, go ahead, call me a shoe-whore.✌🏼😬 Well it’s been a while since I’d gotten anything sneakers-related, and when I saw this pair of AF-1s, it was love at first sight. 🥰 White leather body, with a cerulean blue denim Swoosh, and has a harden compressed cork material for sole and back strip. But I was good; I actually held off buying a couple months. ☺️ The last time I owned a pair of Nike Airforce 1 was over a decade ago - a pair I got from the States that I adored. Made the horrible mistake of washing it thinking it would be ok ‘cos that pair was made of canvas; all the designs came off. 😭 And AF-1s have sorta mysteriously disappeared from the market, till the last couple years, when these new, thicker sole series came out. I was a bit iffy about ‘em at first, but when I saw this pair, it was a no-brainer. They’re just awesome. Super comfy, they look awesome, and they last. And John Mayer wears them on-stage. 😊 They arrived today. Day 4 of #28daychallenge during P2HA2. Theme: All Things Beautiful For today’s challenge, I added color to the piece I did when Cafe Sketchers met at an staff eatery at SGH for lunch n sketch, right after our March 2021 Sketchwalk. I had to leave earlier and so only managed to finish the line work that day. This was seriously one of the best Laksas I’d ever had, even when it was cold by the time I ate it after sketching it. QQ chor beehoon, succulent fish cakes, super fresh prawns ans juicy tao pok filled with thick gravy that explodes in your mouth from the first bite. I broke my keto rule that day and slurped up every last strand.
