Luk Yuen offers Cantonese dining that was effectively translated to Filipino genuine experience.  It started as a traditional noodle house offering congee, noodles, and dim sum. Their focus on quality, freshness, consistency and affordability made them a local favorite, and now, Luk Yuen is a full-service Chinese restaurant.
LUK YUEN BRANCHES
They have 5 branches – Greenhills, SM Megamall, Cash & Carry (Makati), Alabang Town Center (ATC), and Glorietta 2. We have been to 3 of their branches (SM Megamall, ATC, and Glorietta) and all of them offer a casual ambience. We frequent the ATC branch, even if the place smells old, because of its accessibility from our home.
Luk Yuen ATC is more like a hole in the wall. It’s just beside the supermarket so the place is usually packed with diners who just finished doing their grocery.
LUK YUEN MENU – OUR ORDERS
We recently ate in their SM Megamall branch and as usual, we were not disappointed. We spent ₱1,225 on this set:

Luk Yuen Noodle House is our most favorite  Chinese restaurant. They offer great quality of various Chinese food options for affordable prices. We frequent their ATC branch. Today, we dined at their SM Megamall branch and as usual, we were not disappointed. We spent P1,225 for this set: Buchi – P110 Yang Chow Rice – P250 Hakaw Dumplings – P195 Beef with Broccoli – P360 Hot and Sour Soup – P110 Mango Sago – P120 Stuffed Eggplant – P110 JimBry loved the Hot and Sour soap while I super enjoyed their Hakaw Dumplings stuffed with chunky shrimps! Their Stuffed Eggplant is also one for the book!

We also like their Chicken Feet with Chili for its right amount of spice, sweetness, and flavor. Their Peppercorn Spareribs were fried until golden brown. It’s crunchy on the outside but juicy on the inside. Its kick of spice is notable. Their Yang Chow Fried Rice is also a must-try. And oh! Do not forget their congee and noodles in your order list!
You can check Luk Yuen menu and prices here. Delivery is available through Food Panda.
SERVICE & STAFF
For all of the branches we dined at, we can say that their crews are friendly and attentive. Service was fast and professional. Although we hope that they can be more proactive in offering house tea.
LOVE. EAT. WANDER. PLATE OF THOUGHTS
Luk Yuen truly has delicious and affordable Chinese food options that you will enjoy. Prices are reasonable; they also have ample servings that can be shared with other diners you are with. Definitely, this is a must-try restaurant if you want great dim sum food.
If you want to bring your date to a good place with good food without having to burn your pocket, then bring her/him here!

Cancer is something that has affected most of us in one way or another. To everyone that lost someone you love because of cancer, I send my prayers to you all. Lately I’ve heard someone that close to my family died because of cancer. It really hurts my heart a lot and sending prayers is a small act that we can do.
Love Hope Faith (LHF) is a Filipino organization whose main mission was to help in the support of cancer patients. LHF is all about caring, equality and unity, and it has always worked hard to allow these goals to flourish.
Since being founded, LHF grew considerably and while doing so it has also managed to help many patients who suffer from cancer. This is because half of the proceeds that the organization makes from selling watches, are donated for the purpose of assisting cancer patients in their care and medication needs. Over the years LHF also began to help other communities and beneficiaries.
The products sold by LHF are very competitively priced, thus encouraging buyers to purchase them. The affordable prices coupled up with the possibility of helping people in need, surely helped to increase the demand for LHF’s watches.
Apart from this, LHF’s watches come in different styles and colors, so that you can rest assured that there will be one that will suit your preferences. There are neutral colors such as black, brown, grey and white, and more vibrant colors such as pink, purple, red and turquoise for the more adventurous ones. The watches are nicely made, with good quality materials, which will allow you to feel the watch resting lightly and comfortably on your wrist.
When buying a watch you will receive a letter with more information on how you were giving a hand in saving a life, with the purchase that you made.
The best-selling watch is named Life Saver, now on its version 4.0 and it has indeed helped to save several lives. Its name is inscribed on its face, and its style is both trendy and elegant. There are various colors to choose from, and with its timeless style it will surely appeal to both genders and various ages. No wonder Life Saver is the most popular watch from LHF’s range.
Apart from Life Saver, there are other watches in different versions to choose from too, and with an average price of just ₱300.00, I am sure you agree that these watches are just great. There is no better feeling than to support those in need. And when buying these watches you will be doing this while also enjoying a nice watch to wear. These watches make for really great gift ideas too. And, every time you look at the watch to check the time, you will be reminded that this was something very much worthwhile since when you bought it you helped someone too. Visit their social media accounts for additional information or visit their website at www.lhfg.ph to shop.
I support LoveHopeFaith Group’s advocacy in providing care and assistance for cancer patients. Buy a watch and you too, can save a life!

Dubai is the kind of place that has so much Instagram-worthy potential, you'll run out of camera memory before you run out of subjects.
Author: Neha Singh
We know that there are those that hate Instagram, but here's something no one can deny. Only the best shots make their way to Instagram. A great shot is what draws others right into your experiences - whether it's the shot of a natural landscape or a manmade marvel. Capture your journey in Dubai via your lens and tell your story. Here are 12 of the top Instagram-worthy spots in Dubai.
Al Seef
Al Seef is all about bringing a merging of tradition with contemporary life. Get great shots of the traditional-looking eateries in Al Seef; these are modern places designed to look rustic. Capture the rustic heritage-style buildings with their old-worldly charm. Take pictures of the waterfront promenade and the many relics of Dubai's trading past that are placed around. Take a long shot of an abra boat carrying people across the canal. If you want to depart from the glamour of the main city and capture something more rustic, more laid back and truer to Dubai's roots, then Al Seef is your best bet.

The Dubai Desert
The desert allows you to take an array of pictures. You can focus on sunrises and sunsets and get some uber-romantic Instagram-worthy shots. Or you can focus on people enjoying dune bashing and camel riding, capturing their efforts against the sun in their backs. The incredibly-rich colours of the blue desert sky when juxtaposed against the red desert dunes makes for a wonderful contrast.

The Dubai Fountains
Focus on the Dubai Fountains in the light of day or in the dark of the evening, when the brilliantly-coloured lights glow bright. Take some pictures from the Burj's observatory deck and some from below. You'll get different perspectives of the fountain, each one contrasting the other and all of them incredibly beautiful. During the day, when the sunlight cuts prisms into the dancing water, your shots take on an otherworldly glow. Focus on each droplet as it expands into a million colours. Get your equipment in place before the fountain show begins so that you're ready for the best shots. The Dubai Fountain shoots up to 150 meters in height. Be sure to capture this beautiful shot from ground level, so that the water looks as though it is traveling to the top of the Burj.

Jumeirah Mosque
The Jumeirah Mosque makes for some great shots, both the outside and the inside of it. At night, when the moon's light is rich, watch as the four domes are lit up and the city lights bathe the mosque in their glow. During the night, the mosque takes on an otherworldly glow. Take a few shots of the mosque during the day when the sun's rays reflect on the white marble as well. During sunset, the mosque is draped in a golden glow that looks beautiful in pictures. Capture the entire mosque in one long shot by adjusting your lens. Simply fantastic!

Dubai Miracle Garden
The Dubai Miracle Garden is an extravagant display of 109 million plus flowers. The flowers are crafted to resemble global landmarks. There is a huge Airbus 380 made entirely out of flowers. See if you can get some aerial shots of the entire garden. That'll be fabulous. Take long shots of the pathways and the incredible flowering plants all around. Take shots of the lovely butterfly garden and its amazing flower arrangements.

Madinat Jumeirah
Madinat Jumeirah is a reproduction of an old Arabian market. The only difference is that water canals cut through the alleys between the shops, giving Madinat Jumeirah a Venetian look. From here, you can get awesome shots of the incredible Burj al Arab. Focus on the shops and the restaurants and the amazing landscape of Madinat Jumeirah amidst the lovely canals. At the distance, you can see a fringe of palm trees surrounding the entire complex. Focus on the water canals with the Burj al Arab in the background. Alternatively, frame the Burj al Arab amidst the green palm trees for background.

Dubai Marina
During sunset, take a cruise past the exquisite Dubai Marina and take a series of Instagram-worthy shots. Everything along your cruise will be extremely photogenic. Be sure to immortalize the incredible architecture, and the water canals flowing alongside the buildings and the sun's rays glinting off of the tall structures. The Dubai Marina is a stunning collection of buildings and water canals that make for lovely shots. Whether you're taking pictures of the Dubai Marina during the day or during the night, you are guaranteed the best Instagram-worthy spots In Dubai.

ATLANIS THE PALM
The entire Palm Jumeirah Island is a photographer's dream come true. Focus on the Atlantis The Palm with the fronds of the Palm Islands in front for a beautiful shot. If you can, take aerial photos of the Atlantis with the rays of the sun shining on it. Pictures of the sunset against the Atlantis are also great for Instagramming, with the sun's rays passing through the Atlantis's palace-doors. Distant pictures of the Atlantis at night, when it is fully lit up, are worth their weight in gold.

Dubai Mall Waterfall
When you enter the Dubai Mall, you'll see a huge waterfall that begins somewhere near the building's roof. Several beautifully-crafted sculptures of athletic divers are suspended in the water's path. It looks like they're permanently frozen while making the dive. Be sure to take some pictures from the top and from the sides for varying perspectives. Be sure to capture the shadows behind the sculptures, the ones that make it look as though they're real divers. From a distance, they do look like real divers taking the jump into deep water, until you know better. You'll be happy with your Instagram-worthy shots, yes you will!

Whether you're focusing on Dubai's natural marvels or man-made marvels, you have plenty to aim your camera at. The city has many appealing aspects, both during day and by night. A shot of the buildings on the shore during the evening makes for an excellent picture, all lit up to welcome the night.

If you are travelling with only a cabin baggage, packing for your trips could be a little challenging. I recently got back from a conference called TBEX (the first time I attended it was in Costa Brava) and also took a trip to Romania recently. I knew there would be a lot of travelling involved and that I would need to be in touch with people as well as be connected to the internet; so I wanted to make sure that my phone would not give up on me by mid-day itself. As a result, I did a bit of planning beforehand and made sure I was carrying a few useful travel accessories with me. Towards the end of my trip, I realized what a wise decision I had made to buy a few of these things, and I’ll get to that detail in just a little bit. But, yes, I wanted to share my experience with all of you and let you know about the travel accessories I found to be most helpful. So, here are some travel accessories you can consider packing when planning your trip:
Note- Some of the products listed have affiliate links. If you do decide to buy anything from Amazon and go through these links, I would earn a very small commission that would be used towards maintaining this blog.
  1. Powerbank- As my smartphone has a weak battery backup by now, I knew I didn’t want to be in a situation where I  could be potentially stranded without a mode of connection to the world. So, I decided to buy a power bank on Amazon, after surveying the local markets and coming across mostly expensive things. The one that I ordered online could charge two devices at the same time, once you had fully charged it overnight or so. I found it to be super convenient, as I was using my phone quite a lot for taking quick notes, pictures, looking up details, maps, etc. As expected, it would often start giving up by the afternoon or early evening, and I was glad I could just charge it while moving around, without having to look for a plug point in a cafe.
US visitors can check it out and order it from here.
2.Bookcase for my phone– For a long time, I had wanted to buy a flip case for my phone, which would also let me keep some cards or cash. At times, it is really difficult to keep looking for my wallet in my bag filled with hundreds of things, and taking out the card or cash frequently. I bought such a case when I was first visiting Barcelona a few years ago and decided to keep one of my debit cards in it while the rest of my things were in my wallet. THIS, my friends, was one of the wisest decisions I made, as my wallet brilliantly got stolen in a metro, and I luckily had my debit card to use for the rest of the journey, and specially to buy the next ticket!
US visitors, check this out for an idea.
3. Trip organizer app– Since I was getting bogged down by the numerous bookings and plans I was making, I wanted to put everything together, and wanted to be able to find addresses and all my plans easily while hopping from one place to another. So, I decided to try out TripIt. I had also won access to the TripRider app in a giveaway, so I tried using it too. However, since Tripit was collecting all my flight details and booking confirmations from my mail directly, I just decided to go ahead with it. I had signed up for the free version, but if you sign up for TripitPro, you can avail of even better services and get continuous updates about your flights, delays and other things. For me, it was convenient to put everything together on my account and take a printout of my entire itinerary, having all details and directions for every place I would be staying at, and the tours/meetings/plans that were confirmed. Of course, you can get all those details on your app too, but I wanted a hard copy, just to be safe.
4.Internet sim card– I generally depend on free wifi while travelling, as my current phone plan would charge me an unbelievable 19 CHF/MB while roaming (the last time I checked). But, as I mentioned earlier, I knew this time I might have a greater need of internet access, as I used Couchsurfing,AirBnB, hostel as well as a hotel for accommodation and was sure that I would have to call up some people and get in touch. I wanted to have the option of checking Google Maps whenever necessary, look up the internet for updates regarding my travel plans, check and reply to emails, and post updates. So, I was glad I came across MTX Connect. This sim card, which is delivered for free to you, provides internet access while roaming in 25+ countries in Europe, and they are expanding their coverage. They have a few internet plans that you can choose from and recharge online. People can choose to buy a 1 GB package for 30 days, or unlimited data for 24 hours (incase you are planning on working). If you just need access to check the map or your emails, you could also take the 100 MB plan for 24 hours, or just go with the pay-as-you-go model. You would just need to select a local service provider in your settings, each time you move countries. Even though all the setup instructions come along with the sim and are given on their site, I had a bit of a confusion while I tried setting it up in Spain. However, their support team is very quick and helpful, and they helped me via email instantly (while I used wifi ofcourse). Another good thing is that the credit on your account is valid for a year. So, even if you did not use all the money after recharging, you could use it for another package the next time you travelled. MTX helped me get in touch with people who would be hosting me, look up maps and details, post social media updates, be connected to the world and also most importantly, it helped me immediately look up emergency numbers and make calls to block cards, etc when disaster struck.
Since 2015, I have been using MTX on most of my short trips in Europe.  This was in Portugal:

Or you can get a Wifi Hotspot device like My Webspot which gives you 5 GB data each day. this works the best if you are travelling in a group for instance or need constant internet access. I used this in the Czech Republic recently and was glad to be able to work with internet access even on 3-hour long train journeys.

5. Packing Cubes –  These really make a difference in your packing. I feel much more organized and seem to fit in more things in my cabin baggage while using some packing cubes. Definitely, give these a shot.
6. E-Book reader
Besides, for people who like to read, but find it difficult to carry thick books in their cabin baggage, a Kindle or an e-book reader is not a bad idea(even though I am not a big fan of e-books).
7. Safety belts and wallets-
One of my friends once had a waterproof wallet from Jack Wolfskin, that I thought could be safe to use while camping or travelling in the monsoons. Of course, please be careful of your wallets and passport while travelling. Split up the important things and keep them in different places. Maybe using a safety pouch under your shirt would not be a bad idea.

If you like history and would like to learn more about Singapore and Malaysia’s colonial heritage as part of the Straits Settlement in the British Colony, a trip to Malacca in Malaysia would be right up your alley.
When in Malacca, why not stay at a heritage hotel to complete the history tourism experience?
The Majestic Malacca Heritage Hotel
Located on the banks of the river which in yesteryear teemed with Chinese junks and spice-laden vessels from all over the world, The Majestic Malacca provides a glimpse into the riches of the erstwhile Straits Settlement. The hotel is conveniently located to many of the main attractions in Malacca like Jonker Walk, Chinatown and Little India.

The heart of the hotel is a restored 1920s Straits Settlement mansion complete with its original porcelain tile flooring and teakwood fittings.
This serves as the bar and reception on the ground floor and an in-house restaurant on the second floor. Behind the original mansion, a new wing extension houses the guest rooms and suites as well as a spa centre and a swimming pool.
Here’s a look at the hotel interiors:
The origins of The Majestic Malacca began in 1929 as a private mansion of a tycoon named Leong Long Man where imported Victorian tiles, stained glass windows, expensive furniture and fittings were all incorporated into his home. Sadly, he fell ill and died in 1931, just two years after moving in. His son entrusted with the family estates squandered his inheritance and eventually sold the mansion to a businessman named Lim Heng Fang in 1955.
Fortuitously, Mr. Lim preserved the building and converted it into The Majestic Hotel. In the 1950s and 60s, the hotel was popular among travelers, with a clientele that comprised mainly of British planters and even played host to Malaysia’s first prime minister when he announced the former British colony’s independence in 1957.
Before its doors closed in 31 July 2000, the hotel had taken a turn for the worse, operating as a guesthouse with a dilapidated air. A public outcry to restore the mansion back to its former glory ensued in the years after its closure. Acknowledging the need to preserve an integral part of Malacca’s rich heritage, YTL Hotels stepped in and the property acquisition was finalised in 2006. The historic building was fully restored and reopened as The Majestic Malacca in January 2008 and has been in operations under the same owner since.
Staying at The Majestic Malacca
I was invited to stay at the hotel for 3D2N to experience their hospitality and F&B offerings, including a collaboration with a KL-home-grown cocktail bar, PS150.
PS150 pop-up bar at the hotel, the drinks they designed for the collaboration and the pairing with a special dinner menu created at The Mansion to go with these drinks:
The welcome ceremony to your room when you check into the hotel:
When staying at a heritage hotel like The Majestic Malacca, one of the ‘con’ is that you will be so enthralled by the hotel’s history itself that you just want to stay indoors for the whole trip to soak in the nostalgia and get inspirations for your creative works.
Nonetheless, this was my first ever visit to Malacca and there’s much to see and experience.
The hotel staff have come up with a useful map for a heritage trail walking tour to experience Malacca’s unique blend in heritage through the local lifestyle, historical landmarks, architecture and traditional trades.
You can download a copy here or ask the hotel reception for a copy when you are there. Malacca is perfect for walking tours, due to the small size of the city and the concentration of the heritage attractions to a limited radius near the hotel.
Hungry after your walking tour?
Kirstang and Peranakan Cuisine at The Majestic Malacca
The in-house restaurant at the hotel, The Mansion, specialises in Kirstang cuisine. While most people would know of Nonya cuisine, Kristang cuisine describes a unique Malacca-Portuguese cuisine which is only found in the Straits Settlement.
Kristang cuisine, with its fiery sambals, comforting stews and fragrant coconut curries, is an ode to Malacca’s cosmopolitan past. While not as well-known as other ethnicities that comprise Malacca’s colourful ethnological tapestry, the ever elusive Kristang cuisine is influenced by a harmonious mix of culinary styles including Dutch, Portuguese, Malay, Indian and Chinese – making it unlike any other yet uniquely Malaccan.
Kristang cuisine cooking class with the head chef at The Mansion:
Where Peranakan cuisine is characterised by complex, labour intensive methods, the beauty of Kristang cooking lies in its simplicity, emphasising high-quality and the freshest of ingredients.
Kristang dishes served at The Mansion:
Traditional Kristang dishes such as Aros Fretu Keluak and Kari Seccu can be sampled over lunch and dinner at The Mansion while the colourful traditional Peranakan cakes known as kuih can be tasted over casual afternoon tea at the lounge.

Spa Village Malacca
Spa Village Malacca is the world’s only spa to base its therapies on the healing heritage of the Baba-Nyonya or Peranakan culture – a unique combination of Chinese and Malay influences. Spread across the two levels at The Majestic Malacca, the rich heritage is reflected not only through the therapies but also within the architecture, which provides an environment designed to capture the essence of the location.
The combinations of age-old traditional remedies sourced from indigenous ingredients are believed to cleanse, replenish and reinvigorate, both physically and mentally. I tried their 100 minutes Egg Rolling Therapy and was truly reinvigorated after the treatment. The treatment is said to be beneficial for stressed individuals who are sensitive to heat and prone to tight muscles and cramping. Heated hardboiled eggs were rolled over my body, followed by a full-body massage.

Berlin has been through quite a bit of history from the devastation of the Second World War to almost 40 years of divided East and West Berlin by the construction of the Berlin Wall during the Cold War. Although it has been about 30 years since the collapse of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany, Deutsche Demokratische Republik, or DDR) and reunification of West and East Germany, you can still visit historical landmarks associated with the Berlin Wall era. Besides these historical sights, Berlin is also known for its excellent museums – almost 170 of them and there is even an island of museums called Museum Island (Museumsinsel). During my short 5D4N trip in Berlin with Scoot (yes! Scoot now flies direct from Singapore to Berlin!), besides trying 11 different interesting dining experiences in Berlin, I had also checked out over 8 historical sights and museums in Berlin.
If you like to visit museums, then this is the post for you as I will provide you with a quick overview of what you can see in these 8 historical sights and museums around Berlin. To get started, I strongly recommend that you buy the Berlin WelcomeCard which gives you access to all public transport (buses and U-bahn and S-bahn) as well as discounts on selected tours and museum. If you are going to visit a number of museums, I also recommend that you buy the 3-day Berlin Museum Pass (29 Euros) which provides you with free admission to over 30 museums for 3 consecutive days – see this link for the list of museums covered by the Berlin Museum pass.
A post shared by Zhiqiang and Tingyi (@passportchop) on Jun 21, 2018 at 3:02am PDT
DDR Museum (located at Karl-Liebnecht-Straße 1 facing the back of the Berliner Dom cathedral is the DDR Museum). DDR stands for Deutsche Demokratische Republik which was what East Germany was called back then. The DDR Museum truly lives up to its slogan – “History You Can Touch”. It is the only museum dedicated to life in the former DDR, from everyday life in the Socialist state to the impact of living with the Stasi and the Berlin Wall. Here in the DDR Museum, there are lots of interactive displays – you can touch pretty much everything e.g. the toys that the East German children used to play with back then, and even drive a classic East German car – Trabant virtually! There is even a mock up of a typical East Berlin apartment and Stasi (East Germany secret police) interrogation room and prison. As you go through the exhibits, you will notice that the East Germans are subject to propaganda messages about how good the East is and how bad the West is and indoctrination starts very early – even with children.
Entrance fee to the DDR Museum is 8.50 Euros for adults and 5.50 Euros for children. The museum is not very big but it may take you some time to go through the museum if you like to see the level of details of the mock-up apartment and the large number of interesting East German artifacts.
Roman Market Gate of Miletus
And this concludes our museum-hopping experience across Berlin. Check out these links for our experiences with in-flight meals during the flight from Singapore to Berlin and back with Scoot and our other interesting dining experiences in Berlin as well as our day trip to Potsdam.
Scoot flies from Singapore to Berlin on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, departing Singapore at 12.25am and arriving at Berlin Tegel airport at 7.20am, and from Berlin to Singapore on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, departing Berlin at 9.40am and arriving at Singapore at 3.45am (one day later). The best part about landing at Berlin Tegel Airport is the airport’s proximity to the Berlin city centre. After clearing immigrations and collecting your baggage, you can be at your hotel in the city centre within 20 minutes
The Singapore to Berlin (and return) flight is on the spacious 787 Dreamliners which offer several amenities and services suited to long-haul travel e.g. inflight Wi-Fi, in-seat power and inflight ScooTV entertainment streamed to guests’ own devices (paid services). Promotional fares from Singapore to Berlin start as low as SGD 239 one way for Economy FLY option.

It was one hot sunny day when we found ourselves cruising along the street of Maginhawa, killing some time, and nowhere to go when the thought of dropping by the famous restaurant of Van Gogh is Bipolar came to mind. I have been eyeing this interesting place for several years, and alas! we unexpectedly found time to see it in our least expected time.
Van Gogh is Bipolar is a unique restaurant in Maginhawa Street that revolves around the idea of self-healing and setting moods. It is a restaurant that offers visual treats of teapots, arts, trinkets, clocks, antiquities, dried plants, dingus.
THE PLACE
The place is eclectic and magical. It draws attention and interest yet exudes a calming effect on its guests. The setting, the lighting, the staff, the utensils, and the mini garden will really set you in the right mood to eat. Even the toilet area is comforting!
Van Gogh is Bipolar 154 Maginhawa St., Sikatuna Village Diliman, 1103 Quezon City, Philippines Operating Hours: Lunch 12 NN-3 PM / Dinner 6PM Onwards Mobile:  +63 922 824 3051 Facebook: Van Gogh is Bipolar
All guests are required to remove their footwear before entering the restaurant which can be accessed through an old mirrored closet door that was converted into a portal that leads inside! Very Narnia.
The place was small. It can only accommodate around 15 diners. We were there around 2PM so there’s more space and no much people around.

Van Gogh is Bipolar promises No Preservatives and No Artificial & Processed Ingredients. Their menu changes based on the mood of the chef and the availability of ingredients.

Van Gogh is Bipolar is a restaurant in Maginhawa, Quezon City that claims to promote the art of natural self-healing. I have been meaning to visit the place for years, and alas! we unexpectedly found time to get to the place 3 weekends ago. There is something "magical" about the place. The setting, the lighting, the staff, the utensils, and the mini garden will really set you in the right mood to eat. Even the toilet area is comforting! All guests are required to remove their footwear before entering the restaurant which can be accessed through an old mirrored closet converted into a door! So cool. I just think their foods are on the pricey side. We paid around P800 for this set – pasta, a fish rice meal, and a small glass of ginger drink. The overall experience however is fun, and we will definitely go back! P.S. The owner also drew a caricature of our daughter Skye. So sweet!

You can choose between Happy and Chill courses. Happy meals are meat-based while those under Chill menu are fish-based. Note: They only serve set meals during dinner time; during lunchtime, they offer ala carte dishes. We were a little full during our visit so we just got this set (click on the small arrow to see other photos).
We paid around P800 for this set – pasta, a fish rice meal, and a small glass of ginger drink. We think the meal was a bit pricey. Maybe because they were organic? The taste was not outstanding, just okay. Maybe we are not used to eating healthy foods or our palates aren’t sophisticated enough. Lol.
STAFF & SERVICE
There are NO SERVERS here. You have to write your name and orders on a paper provided and ring the bell by the kitchen window and give your written orders. If you need anything you have to go back to the kitchen window and ring the bell again. After eating, you have to place soiled dishes by the kitchen window.
LOVE. EAT. WANDER. UNSOLICITED PLATE OF THOUGHTS
Our lunch lasted for 2 hours. Overall, a pleasant one. We think of going back to the place someday.
Van Gogh is Bipolar has its own character. It’s up to you to find the place amazing or pretentious. Depends on your taste or preferences, you will either love it or hate it.
One thing we’ll all agree on is that Van Gogh is Bipolar is a bit expensive, but the comforting vibe is all worth it. If you are looking for something new that offers a unique experience, then Van Gogh is Bipolar is a must-try.  It’s okay to dine here especially if you will not pay the bill. *wink*

Autumn is here – which means, it’s starting to get chilly, colourful leaves are all around us, festivals are being celebrated and the cheese season is here! Whether you are a ie, a festival lover, a nature lover, wine lover or adventure sports junkie, here are some ideas for things you can do in in Switzerland. Let me know which of these activities you’d be most interested in trying out!
Autumn in Switzerland for Food Lovers
Autumn in Switzerland is the perfect time to plant vegetables, salad leaves and flowers. Don’t believe me? Visit ProSpecieRara Reutenmarkt on October 14th in Heiternplatz, Zofingen for proof!
Get inspired and find out which plants can survive the cold temperatures to be your winter friends. No matter if its to relish the first tasty and fresh homegrown salad in early spring, or if you have bigger plans, like planting a tree or berry bush – is the perfect time!
The Reutenmarkt is organized by Pro Specie Rara, a foundation dedicated to the conservation of rare and special plants and animals. So, this event will give you the chance to purchase seeds and plants for vegetables that you might not be familiar with.
But be warned: Once you taste these rare treats, you will be bored of the same vegetables that the supermarket offers – you might get hooked on the unbelievable diversity of great tastes and special colors that these rare plants have to offer!
If you would like to try some of these delicious vegetables, but don’t have a garden or the time to plant them yourself, don’t worry, they can see to that. Even though you’ll have the biggest choice if you plant them yourself, there are some alternatives:
For the busy among you: Coop supermarket offers a tiny variety of rare vegetables with the Pro Specie Rara label. Depending on the time of year, you might find beautiful purple potatoes, sweet parsnips, striped green zebra tomatoes, rare but delicious pumpkins (like the Delicata), black radish (careful, they are spicy!) and some more if you are lucky.
No matter what you choose, be assured that the world has so much more to offer than the one variety of tomato or potato that you know from the supermarket!
And it is not only about the great taste of the rare types of vegetables, fruit and berries, that even renowned cooks are now starting to rely on – in a world where climate change is very real, preserving the huge genetic diversity of the plants and animals that we need as a source is also an important safety net for the future. A very tasty safety net indeed – Give it a try!
My picks for accommodation in Zofingen is the excellent  which offers affordable private and dorm rooms including breakfast. Alternatively, check out Airbnb – use my link to get €35 off your first stay if you haven’t joined up yet!

Autumn in Switzerland for Wine Lovers
  Visit a Herbstsonntage Folk Festival
If wine is what you are waiting for when the leaves turn yellow and red, then make sure to visit one of the Herbstsonntage in the Blauburgunderland – the vineyards of the canton of Schaffhausen!
There you will find local wines to try, mouth-watering local specialities to eat, and many other attractions for kids and adults, like live folk music, games and horse-carriage rides.
The Herbstsonntage are extremely colourful and joyful traditional folk festivals to celebrate and be thankful for the new harvest – not only of grapes but of any crops. So join in and be part of one! There are several, with a different village hosting one weekend of ‘Herbstsonntag’, and even though ‘Sonntag’ (Sunday) is in the name, the festivities usually start on a Saturday and last the whole weekend!
  Here are some upcoming dates:
  29th/30th September in Wilchingen
13th/14th October in Osterfingen (Trottenfest)
The vineyards in Schaffhausen- Reben_Blauburgunderland_ (c)MarcusGyger
Don’t forget to drop in at the Rhine (Rhein) in Neuhausen on your way to the Herbstsonntag! Just hop off the train at ‘Neuhausen Rhein’ or take Bus 1 from Schaffhausen.
If you happen to be a bit of a technology fan, you might want to take the new self-driving bus from Neuhausenzentrum to the Rhein (linie 12, Neuhausen is one of the first three cities in Switzerland to operate a self-driving bus for public transport – find its timetable here.
Accommodation options in Schaffhausen include a number of options on Airbnb, the beautiful historic  offers dorms and privates as well as a free breakfast.

Visit the Lavaux Vineyards Wine Region
The Lavaux Vineyards are a famous wine region in Switzerland with over 30 km of trails. The vineyards are set along the shores of Lake Geneva, offering breathtaking views of the lake and the mountains, and have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The vineyard terraces extend from Montreux to Lausanne and are dotted with several wine tasting cellars which offer a tasting session along with the tour of the cellar. You can either explore the terraces on foot, join a guided tour, or hop onto one of the two tourist trains.
The best time to visit the vineyard terraces is in , when the terraces are colored in hues of orange and golden shades. And if you are planning to visit during the plan your visit around September when the amazing ‘Grape Harvest Festival’ is held. There is a traditional procession with music, fancy-dress parade, wine tasting and jazz concerts as a part of the annual three day festival that takes place in the old town of Lutry.
Why not do a Montreux City Tour or a Lausanne City Tour when you are in the area too!

Autumn in Switzerland for Culture Vultures
On 26th/27th October 2018, Thusis UnterNull gives you the chance to visit numerous old traditional cellars (Gewölbekeller) of private households, as well as many shops and companies in the village. Everybody organises small things in their cellars like catering, drinks, music, contests etc, so you can choose to visit which ones you are most interested in.
As I mentioned, this event is small and neither very touristic nor super dramatic, but it is a perfect opportunity to get to know a mountain region in Switzerland and the people living there.
During the day, you might want to hike through the al forest to the Traversinasteg, a narrow suspension bridge that crosses over a small stream at a dizzying height – the hike takes about two – three hours from Thusis and requires good shoes.
  Stay at the excellent Airbnb.
Hike your way through art from Switzerland to Germany!
Autumn in Switzerland for Sport Lovers
Take part in the famous Transruinaulta Trailmarathon and/or the Transviamala Run&Walk!
This sporty adventure takes place every and will take you through two stunning gorges in the alps. The run this year will be on 20th/21st October 2018. It’s a real trail marathon, so the path can be very steep and narrow in places, so you better ensure you are fit enough to take the challenge!
The fastest man and woman to finish the whole distance will be rewarded with the traditional wooden crown saying ‘Schluchtenkönig’ and ‘Schluchtenkönigin’ (King/Queen of the Gorges). For the not-so-crazy, there is a ‘short’ distance option of 24km through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Rhine Gorge.
Of course you are also free to visit the event without actually running yourself – the athletes will need some cheering on or do visit the Viamala and Ruinaulta Gorges at any time of the year, to enjoy a scenic walk or river rafting tour.

Autumn in Switzerland for Nature Lovers
Autumn in Switzerland is arguably the best time to visit due to the gorgeous colours in the Alps, particularly in the country’s only National Park. Here are some fun activities to get out and enjoy Autumn in Switzerland in the Swiss National Park!
See the trees (Lärche) turn yellow! The contrast of the bright yellow with the blue sky, glittering streams and dark mountains is astonishing.
In you have very high chances of seeing many animals: Bartgeier, Hirsch, Steinbock, Gämse…
In you can hear the deer, and the echo of their calls are impressive in the mountain valleys (Röhren der Hirsche)
As a rainy weather option, visit the Nationalparkzentrum in Zernez with its unique and interactive museum about the national park
In sunny weather, take the train to s-chanf and from there the ‘Nationalparkexpress’ to the entry of Val Trupchun, where you can enjoy an easy one – two-hour hike surrounded by an awesome landscape – don’t forget to bring binoculars to observe the many wild animals who live here!
Visit the Castle Tarasp, dating back to the 11th century, in Lower Engadin.
Stay at the traditional

Autumn Activities for Festival Lovers
If I hear the word , I automatically think of one of its main vegetables, the pumpkin. In the last few years, pumpkins have gained popularity and you can buy them in all shapes, colours and sizes in most grocery stores.
If you like pumpkin as much as we do, then you might be interested in an event dedicated to the love of this seasonal vegetable: The Pumpkin Festival Basel-Land. Every year in , this is a small but wonderful event taking place at the Mathis Hof in Bottmingen.
The main attraction is that there are hundreds of different varieties of pumpkin and squash for sale. Many of the pumpkins are edible and they come with little displays including tips on how to best prepare them. There are also pumpkins just for decorative purposes, like Halloween carvings. You would never imagine such a huge variety of pumpkins and squash exists!
One of our highlights of the pumpkin festival is definitely the pumpkin beer and all the other pumpkin themed s available there. The pumpkin pie is also extraordinarily delicious.

Don’t miss taking part in a Basel Walking Tour when you are in the area too.  By the way, Basel has one of the oldest Autumn fairs in Switzerland- known as the ‘Herbstmesse’ and it offers a delectable choice of desserts and cheese-based !

Autumn in Switzerland for Adventure Lovers
Just as you think the summer is over and the days outside rock – climbing are numbered, comes along.
Autumn does not only bring the most breathtaking colours with it, but also it opens up many rock-climbing walls that during the summer months were too hot to climb.
The Valais is a mecca for rock climbers and several walls are great for families. Some of them have great picnic areas and are in safe environments with added points of interest close by, such as a forest or a river, so there are always great discovery options for the kids when they need a break from climbing. And during the months they can collect acorns and chestnuts and utilize them for their arts and craft activities at home.
With nearly 2000 pitched routes from the kid’s rock 3b to the professional rock-climbing guru grade 8+ and over, there is a route for everyone.

Hiking The Ebenalp
The Ebenalp is located in the picturesque Appenzell region in eastern Switzerland and offers a range of fantastic options. Ebenalp is set 1640 metres above sea level and can be reached via cable car or by foot from the town of Wasserauen – approximately two hours from Zurich. The area around Ebenalp is home to spectacular cliff formations, snow-capped mountains, luscious green meadows with grazing cows, dense forests and an alpine lake.
From Ebenalp there are several trails ranging from more strenuous walks, to shorter family-friendly trails. The highlight though is the walk down to the Ascher Cliff Restaurant. The descent passes the Wildkirchli Cathedral, which is set inside a cave and was built in 1621. There’s also a series of large caves with archaeological finds dating back over 45,000 years.
A short walk from the Wildkirchli, is the incredible Ascher cliff guesthouse. Once labelled as the most interested restaurant in the world, the 170 year-old guesthouse seems to hang to a 100-metre-tall vertical cliff. The restaurant terrace at Ascher is also the perfect spot to enjoy the glorious alpine views and regional specialities from Appenzell.

Hiking the Five Lakes Walk in Zermatt
I spent two weeks the Haute Route through Switzerland, from Chamonix to Zermatt. One of the best day hikes from Zermatt is the Five Lakes Walk, or 5-Seenweg. With a quick funicular ride to Sunnegga, the 6 mile (9 km) route past five lakes is well-marked and the views are stunning!
The highlight of this hike, in good weather, is seeing the Matterhorn reflected in several of the lakes. This hike is suitable for all ages, and the lift stations have snack shops, plus there is a swimming lake and playground at Leisee.
To reach the Five Lakes Walk, take the Sunnegga funicular and then the telecabine to Blauherd where you’ll begin the hike. For a more challenging hike, you can start in Zermatt!
Check out Airbnb for somewhere unique and affordable to stay in Zermatt.

If you follow @sundaymorningview you probably saw the image they posted of me that’s very similar to this one except I was giving the middle finger to the haters that leave negative comments about my cellulite. The image blew up, getting an overwhelmingly positive response. Well, that image was deleted by @instagram this morning. This upsets me for two reasons 1) Why do thousands of posts go…

I have been aching to make a review about this fast-growing Michelin-star restaurant but I never had the chance. We dined at Hawker Chan (MOA branch) before and I wasn’t really happy with our orders, so I did not write a review about it.

Too much buzz about this cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant in the world so we decided to take some bites. The hubby was so satisfied, but I think I will have to go back to give it another chance. I expected too much.
A post shared by Love. Eat. Wander (@) on Oct 15, 2018 at 3:17am PDT
I promised we’ll go back to give it another try – maybe I wasn’t just in the mood last time – then maybe I can blog about the place on our second visit.
Forever has passed and we haven’t gone back since.
I am so glad that one of our writers sent us her review about Hawker Chan (SM North Edsa) several days after they dined in this Singaporean restaurant. Let’s see how they find the place.
****
Hawker Restaurant Review
Singaporean food is something I am curious about. I remember when I was watching an episode of Food Wars Asia in Singapore and it showed some of the famous Singapore foods. That show tickled my interest to try Singapore dishes.
The first Singaporean food I tasted was Hainan Fried Chicken in Hiananese Delights, and I liked it! Since then I have been on the hunt to eat Singaporean dishes.
I haven’t heard of Hawker Chan. We accidentally discovered the place while looking for some good Ramen noodles when we were in SM North Edsa. The caption “The World’s Cheapest Meal to Be Awarded One Michelin Star @ 335 Smith Street” caught our attention so we decided to dine there.
here.
This has the usual thin noodles but what made it unique is the sweet and spicy sauce. On the side is the crispy yet tender roasted pork that is so delicious.
This is what I ordered as the noodles here caught my eye. It is green and it says vegetable. I was kind of hesitant when I was about to eat this goodness, but the vegetable noodles along with the sweet and spicy sauce made my taste buds dancing. The noodles are a little bit chewy though. Oh! And let me not forget to mention the star of my dish is the chicken, which is tender and juicy! Just add a little bit more chili sauce if you want more kick which is what I did.
Their wanton noodle soup is just the usual wanton noodle except with the shrimp wanton inside! It was that good that my daughter almost didn’t let me have at least one bite of it.
We dined in Hawker Chan SM North Edsa which is just beside the supermarket, so it is a bit of a busy area but not really crowded.
Operating Hours: Mall hours
Branches:
Upper Ground Floor, Main Building, SM City North EDSA, Bago Bantay, Quezon City
Ground Floor, Entertainment Mall, SM Mall of Asia, Mall of Asia Complex (MOA), Pasay City
Ground Floor, Glorietta 3, Ayala Center, Glorietta Complex, Makati City
I would happily go back to Hawker Chan and try their other food.

Who doesn’t want to stay in a hotel that offers great service and comfort but is also aesthetically pleasing? These are my top ten most Instagrammable Hotels in England.
1. Soho Farmhouse, Great Tew, Oxfordshire
It will come as no surprise that my favourite UK hotel appears on this list. With gorgeous individual wooden cabins home to log fires, snuggly blankets and roll top baths (even some with outdoor baths) the photo opportunities at Soho Farmhouse are endless. The extensive grounds are beautiful too with rivers running past the cabins, pretty little bridges and farm animals grazing in the fields. You can get your picture on the rowing boats, with the resident horses or in the hotel’s beautiful kitchen garden. Soho Farmhouse is also a private members club so photos are banned in public places… of course you can use your discretion, avoid other people and get beautiful photos around the cabin and quiet areas of the grounds. It’s also worth checking out Soho Farmhouse’s sister property, Babington House, unfortunately it’s about six years since I stayed so I don’t have any decent pictures but beautiful four posters beds, outdoor baths and sumptuous fabrics also make Babington a gorgeously photogenic hotel.
2. Coworth Park, Ascot
Another of my absolute favourite UK hotels Coworth Park, the Dorchester Collection property is an absolutely gorgeous elegant country house style hotel. The interiors are just stunning with the furniture being inspired by nature in eye-pleasing neutral tones while beautiful sculptures add a touch of drama. The organic theme continues to the bedrooms and copper baths and four poster beds look perfect in any shot. The grounds are utterly beautiful especially in summer when the meadow is in bloom – the perfect place for a picnic. There are also pretty little quirks around the place such as bronze sculptures, a retro red phone box and elegant water features.
3. Cliveden, Berkshire
Cliveden has long had a reputation for being one of the most beautiful and luxurious hotels in the UK but it was recently made even more famous owing to Meghan Markle staying the night before the Royal wedding and the recent documentary on the hotel. As I was on a press stay I was given the most gorgeous room – the Lady Aster suite is one of the most beautiful rooms that I’ve ever stayed in with this utterly gorgeous bed. Elsewhere interiors are beautiful and classicly British plus you can get some gorgeous shots in the perfectly manicured garden.
4. The Scarlet, Cornwall
Another one of my favourites… The Scarlet Hotel in Cornwall is both one of the most beautiful and the most tranquil hotels I’ve stayed in. The views from this eco-friendly, beach front hotel are absolutely gorgeous. You can get your best shot for the ‘gram from the hotel’s famous cliff top hot tubs… just don’t forget to order a glass of champagne to enjoy with it!
5. The Tamburlaine, Cambridge
The is nothing more Instagrammable than a pretty pink interior, and The Tamburlaine in Cambridge is definitely one of the prettiest I’ve seen.  Pretty tiled floors, shelves lined with old books, a spiral staircase plus marble tables and pretty crockery make this hotel a total Instagram dream!
6. Chewton Glen, New Forest
A beautiful country house hotel both inside and out, Chewton Glen has been a favourite of my family for years. One thing that makes this property totally unique are the famous treehouses… I’ve never actually stayed in one but they look great on Instagram!

7. The Pig
I totally fell in love with Pig Hotels last year, a group of country properties the bijou brand is more a restaurant with rooms than a hotel. With a gorgeous rustic luxury-chic aesthetic, these hotels are absolutely perfect for the ‘gram. Last year I stayed at The Pig on the Beach and The Pig in the New Forest and both were stunning.  Check out the gorgeous cottage-style Bothy that Lauren and I stayed in, it also featured a very ‘grammable rolltop bath and fireplace.
8. Bovey Castle, Devon
What could be more Instagrammable than staying in an actual castle? And Bovey Castle in Devon definitely fits the bill… the hotel has beautiful architecture and the extensive grounds perfectly landscaped and are filled with water features.
9. Lime Wood, The New Forest
I first stayed at Lime Wood around five years ago and revisited for dinner last year as it’s the sister property of The Pig in the New Forest and located only about fifteen minutes down the road. The interior by David Collins and more recently Martin Brudnizki and Rob Angell are utterly gorgeous… Apologies for an old photo but you can see what I mean in terms of the plush furnishings and beautiful colours.  The grounds are utterly gorgeous too!
10. Four Seasons Hampshire
After a smart refurb, Four Seasons Hampshire is looking more Instagrammable than ever! The Wild Carrot restaurant and bar is totally gorgeous with a beautiful bar, pastoral wallpaper and stylish wood features all inspired by the surrounding nature. Up in the bedrooms, roll top baths, soft furnishing and plenty of natural light make the perfect backdrop to an Instagram shot.  Those are my top ten Instagrammable hotels in England. Have you stayed anywhere particularly worth of the ‘gram?
