#jttw retellings #jttw 1986 #sun wukong #monkey king #zhu bajie #the jade emperor #haha think I just found one of my favorite moments from a jttw retelling #and I think this really gets at one of the reasons I love this monkey #just the nerves of steel to confront those in power for the sake of others... #this provides a really neat contrast to the havoc in heaven too #where here swk gets the jade emperor to lift the drought by successfully arguing his case #HOWEVER #the threat of him being able to have another havoc is still there #which is indicated to be one of the reasons why the jade emperor ultimately lifted his ban on rain haha #also while I do find zbj kind of hiding behind swk funny here #it's still really cool that they were both severely punished by heaven #but still have the guts to cause trouble & confront the jade emperor himself for the sake of people he keeps telling them not to care about
