i decided to make notes as I watched POF (SVSR) for the second time and damn. it’s just as much of a rollercoaster even when you know what’s coming (warning this is long there’s a lot going on)

- wild to me how we jump straight in!

- lee & mary lee are adorable & also thomas at the wedding is a Mood literally me at all my friends weddings

- the flashback breaks my heart,

- Patton is still a really good trier... he’s so good and he tries so hard and I love him

- the way thomas rips off his suit jacket...

- the song that isn’t sung!

- Patton says “we four helped you” but there were five sides in svs hmm I feel like that’s probably significant in some way

- the ace attorney ref makes me very happy! there was a secret path of me hoping for for a professor layton reference but this is ehhhh kinda close?

- the fact that the first thing they say is “why didn’t we talk to lee and mary lee” like. yeah!!

- WE SHOULD START LOOKING I TO WAYS TO PREDICT THE FUTURE! he’s a little confused but he’s got the spirit

- patton and roman bffs!!

- feral cats,,, what a tangent i stan roman

- I like that we get some more context to the invite as well, like being asked face to face does add another element to the dilemma

- Dame Judy Dench = Queen Groovy Bench I see you using those Good Place swears, Roman

- “maybe they ... feel guilty” is like. I get where you’re coming from Patton but talking to them should’ve been step one imo like. I have been to lots of friends weddings and talking to them is important

- them calling Patton out for how critical he’s been!!! very important!!! and I appreciate that Patton is trying “I’m just trying to help you be a good as you can be!” he still has more to learn but still im love him

- Also I just want to appreciate that thomas is such a good actor I can tell which side is speaking just from their voice like the cadence is different and they way they say words ahhh it’s something I’ve thought about before but it’s really hitting me with these voice over segments

- Leslie Odom Jr lol if only we’d known

- The Pokemon battle format is so good and I love that it’s being used for a “do you give money to a homeless actor”

- The fact that roman immediately goes “ignorant” breaks my heart listen to logan!!! please!!!!

- Also the fact that roman is immediately painting deceit as the bad guy after they spent all of svs getting along......like, I feel like after the other sides decided that deceit wasn’t at all genuine or looking out for thomas’ best interests roman did a full 180* on him which makes sense for romans character but is also kinda depressing bc in is lying okay? and svs he was like “oh he’s not that bad!!” And now he’s like “scute bellied tyrant!!” damn

- Patton let’s him talk and then immediately is like “uuuuh no” yikes

- Roman targets all his insults at deceit and very carefully avoids being even playfully rude to anyone else hmm I really do think he’s trying to “make up” for siding with deceit last time and in the end it doesn’t even matter :((( bc he still feels like he’s disappointing people

- Roman seems like he’s genuinely trying to understand and Patton is really struggling to articulate his thoughts and that creates such a good conflict between the two bc it’s not like theyre really against each other it’s just solid interpersonal difference. or intrapersonal I guess

- The trolley problem!!!! A classic I love it

- The way it’s animated too is so good... the “Thomas is full of dread” the way the music cuts when the train appears how it cuts right before the train hits “is it over” ahhhhhh

- Also Leslie Odom Jr again lol

- “Maybe don’t depict scenarios where my friends die” and then later Patton is specifically like “it’s lee and mary lee!!!” lol wild

- “You know we don’t like to use the T word!!!” GREAT little aside

- “So it’s the how that matters” “yeah... and the why!!!” patton baby you’re trying so hard and I love you but it’s okay. you don’t need to have all the answers. you can just not know! I promise it’s alright!

- Thomas face after Patton brings up the “figment of your imagination” things KILLS ME

- I actually disagree with Thomas on the “putting more good into the world” as not being a compelling answer BUT I think that Patton is overlooking how feeling good/having positive emotions attached with those actions IS directly putting more good into the world. like, if doing good makes you feel good, that’s a good thing!! idk

- Logan disagreeing with Patton was good and we all know logan is my favourite but I think he could’ve handled that a little better

- PATTON HITTING SKIP ALL..... sweetie no :((

- everyone has already said this but that cane is the snake boy

- Roman even pulls back the insults on a philosopher who is not there

- Also Roman being like “your desires are getting in the way” again bc he feels like he’s not being listened to or appreciated bc there’s something about him that’s “wrong” and trying to shoulder the blame bc he feels bad that his desires (success, fame, love, appreciation) are inherently selfish :(((

- “that is the stupidest thing you’ve ever said” right sentiment, terrible delivery

- the way roman says “you’re just blowing smoke” is a Lot and very much like his fishing for validation but I don’t blame him for it, after what he’s just admitted it’s truly understandable that he needs that validation

- Thomas’ point about feelings motivating him is REALLY good bc we are all motivated by our emotions

- “Doing nothing is even worse!” i mean you’re not wrong but not in the way you think,,

- Logan/Deceit (I do think it’s deceit at this point) using the oxygen mask metaphor is really great to me!!! I love that metaphor & I was going to be a flight attendant so it’s something I thought about a lot. I’ll talk about it more when Deceit brings it up again lol

car washer! junhui au

genre: fluffffff summary: the thought of working in the blazing sun all the day made you dread coming to work, but not if there was someone there to make everything better (2,363 words) a/n: i know i originally planned for jun to be a barista…but the thought of this was too good to pass but anyways idk if there’s a technical term for this job so !!! series masterlist can be found here!

alright so junhui

when he moved to seoul from china he needed a job that required little to no conversation with people since he was still learning the language

so he ended up finding a job as a car washer!!!

it was more labor intensive than what he preferred but it was something he could do

not to mention it was a great arm workout

so anyways, junhui would be THAT person out in the sun, wearing sleeveless white tanks, have his hair messily slicked back, while rocking a pair of aviators

we all know what happens to white clothes when it gets wet! it becomes see through

so needless to say, junhui brought in a lot of business LMAo

people would be driving down the street and then when they see him holding and waving around a sign for a car wash with a little smirk on his face, they are intrigued

like why is this model guy out here??? washing cars and not walking down a runway???

good question

junhui would ALSO be that guy that when he reaches over the windshield, he flexes

he knows the people inside are watching and probably drooling

so he just has that knowing smirk on his face

people would give him quite the generous tips, in which he responds with genuine smiles

who would’ve known that a job as a car washer could pay so well! only if you’re junhui

so anyways

you too were looking for a part time job

and after countless applications to restaurants, stores, basically anywhere

the only place that called back was for a car washing job!!!

you were honestly very tempted to turn it down, considering you applied not even thinking they would get to you

but luck works out in mysterious ways!!!

so you say screw it and go for it

and you got it!!!!! much to your despair!!!!!!

let’s just say you are not much of an outdoorsy person, you prefer to be in a nice air conditioned room rather than outside in the smoldering heat

but a job is a job, and you needed money

plus this was one of few jobs that would take tips so!!! extra $$$

so on your first day, dread filling your system, you walk up to the little kiosk that is your new workplace

where you are greeted by none other than the man!!! wen junhui!!!

and you were kinda starstruck for a moment because w o w he is a beautiful man

but then he kinda just gave you a small smirk and nod before he was off

snapping back to reality

you go in and greet your boss, who was expecting you

“y/n you’re here!!! oh, did you see junhui on his way out?? that’s going to be your new coworker!” he spoke enthusiastically to you

so now you had a name to the cute face

but then you realized he said coworker and you almost flipped

that means…you would be seeing that model man for the entirety of your career there

maybe it wasn’t that bad of a job after all heheh

so yeah your boss talks you through the basics

often referring to junhui as he was in the middle of washing a car right now

basically you were going to be his assistant lmao

so without further ado, you start working!

you and junhui developed a system where you would soak the lower parts of the car that you could reach, while junhui would take on the higher parts to flex

and by the time you were done with your first car, you were ready to take a break

but of course!!! another car pulls in

and you just have a done look on your face and you hear junhui chuckle a bit at you before nodding his head towards the car, a sign of him telling you to join him

so you do

and this is how the rest of your first day goes

you and junhui actually didn’t share any words at all, you thought he couldn’t talk until you heard him thank the customers that would come out to give him a tip

but you heard the little bit of an accent in his voice so you pieced all the puzzle pieces together

he was a foreigner unfamiliar with the language, not an unsocial butterfly!!

so the next day, you gathered up your courage to finally introduce yourself to him!!

“i’m y/n, by the way”

“i know”

“oh ok”

and that was IT

literally you cringing internally at that conversation

but you convinced yourself he would eventually open up to you!!!

so after that, you guys only did share the smallest talk

“hi how are you”

“good how are you”

“good”

the more you went to your job the more you didn’t mind it, you just wished you and junhui would talk more so you aren’t bored out of your mind

when it would be really slow, you both would go out to the sidewalk with your signs and just wave them around, gathering more attention

and even though junhui was smiling and putting on a show for the crowd, it was dead silent between you two

basically you thought junhui hated you and you were ready to quit

but one day, one day finally

junhui ACTUALLY started a conversation with you!!!

and you kind of just stared at him with a look as if he just saved the earth from global warming

and he just blankly stared at you back

“what brought you here?” he asked

and after an short and awkward staring contest, you finally snapped out of it to respond

“i needed a job”

“me too”

and it was silent again

but nope, you gathered your courage to continue a conversation he actually started because who knows when this would happen again!!!

“what brought you to this job?” you asked him

he kind of just stared at you with a blank look as he was processing your words

“i needed a job with no talking”

you nodded in understanding

“where are you from?” you asked, shocked at how you guys were ACTUALLy having a conversation after weeks of working together

“china” he responded, and you nodded in understanding

that ended up being the last of your conversation but its ok!!! that’s enough progress for a day

so the next day, junhui greets you with a smile that is bigger than his small little smirks he used to always give

and this time, he’s initiating the conversation with you!!

he’s asking you more questions about yourself, like about your family, your preferences

and you guys are actually having a good time talking to each other!!!

you noticed how much he improved in speaking his newly learned language confidently, and you told him that

to which he actually responded with a sheepish smile

“i’m sorry i didn’t talk much at first, i was nervous”

“it’s alright!! i understand, it’s hard learning a new language, but you can always ask me for help!!” and he thought about your offer with a smile!

and he really did take you up on that offer, because the next day at work he would ask you some questions he had about the korean language, and you would gladly answer

you even taught him more vocab!!

this would happen basically every day at work, junhui’s korean abilities grew while your friendship with him grew!

it grew to the point where you guys would even hangout on your days off!!!

junhui once mentioned how the only places he goes to are work and his apartment, which made you a lil sad

so you promised to take him out to some of your favorite spots!!!

even though you were inwardly panicking at yourself for suggesting what might seem like a date, junhui wholeheartedly agreed!

and that is how you guys found yourselves at one of your favorite barbecue places on your days off

you honestly thought it would be awkward, but it was not!!!

junhui has gotten way more confident in conversing with you

“by the way, i never got to thank you for helping me and my korean, also for encouraging me! so thank you” he said one day over a meal

you were honestly melting and your cheeks were probably blushing, but junhui was too focused on his food to notice

“no problem, i’m glad i could be a help!!!”

you two practically became best friends, mainly since you guys saw each other basically every day

now you looked forward to going to work, since you now had a good friend that made time go by way faster!

junhui would teasingly splash water on you, causing you to splash some back

and it ends up in a water fight that ends when your boss comes out to see the both of you drenched

and of course, junhui is in his white tshirt and you try to ignore the outline of his abs but you can’t help but take a few peeks

“are you checking me out?” he would call you out with a smirk

“w-what no!!!! i thought there was something on your shirt” you stuttered as you suddenly found an interest in the rocks in the pavement

“it’s alright, since it’s you i’ll let it slide” he spoke smoothly

and you were just cursing inside your head like when did he become so smooth!!! is this what you taught him????

“um yeah oKay then let’s get to washing cars a ha!!!” you said as awkward as possible as you just ran to the new car to avoid his knowing stare

junhui just chuckled at you

he has noticed you taking some sneak peeks of when his white shirt would get soaked

but he wasn’t in the position to say anything when he admired how you would run your fingers through your hair at times

you both harbored a tiny lil crush on each other but you both were too afraid to damage your friendship that neither of you acted on it!!!

until oNe day

when an old friend of yours came into town

you were just so excited to see him that you cancelled all your plans with junhui on your guys day off

“what am i going to do without you i’m going to be so bored and locked up in my house :(“ he would whine to you when you told him

you would just roll your eyes back at him

“jun i think you can speak enough korean to go out and about no problem”

“you don’t know that!!!”

“i DO know that since i taught you something like everyday for the past months”

“well still, i’m going to sit at home and wait until you come back :<“ he pouted

and your heart just melted

not only at his adorable little face but because of his WORDS

you have noticed that junhui would speak to you in flirty ways sometime but you would just brush it off, thinking it’s just his personality

meanwhile junhui..is questioning your density

he is wondering why you haven’t questioned him about anything when he has been so blatantly trying to make a move for the past weeks now

it did take him a lot of thinking of whether or not he should go for you or not, but he is determined that y’all are soulmates so he wasn’t backing down now!!!!

and when he was finally fed up with it, he kinda just confessed to you in a casual way

it all started on a day when you both were washing a car

and today you were more noticeably in a good mood

“why are you so perky today it’s so weird” he asked you from the other side of the car

“shutup and let me live, i know you love me” you retorted sarcastically

and this was where normally junhui would be like “gross no stay away from me” as apart of your guys friendship,,, but he just

“yeah i really do” he just stated, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world it was

and you were so ready to retort something sassy back when you were just like “wait what”

he just stands up from his side of the car and looks at you straight in the eye

“i don’t know if you noticed but i really do like you, i’ve been purposely flirting with you for the past month to get you to notice but you never did so i give up and i’m just saying it now”

CUE YOUR SILLY BLUSHY SELF

noticing your reddening cheeks, he just smiled that happy smile that always came out when you were around

you couldn’t believe what you just heard so you just began cleaning the lower part of the car to avoid his adoring eyes and smile that made you melt

“s hutup and get back to work” you would say through the midst of your burning cheeks and beating heart

you were so caught up in your thoughts that you didn’t even realize junhui made his way over to your side

“so is that a yes?”

you yelped and fell on your butt, not expecting him to be there and put his face SO CLOSE TO YOURS

“oh my god i hate you!!!! and yes to what??” you smacked him as he bursted out laughing at your clumsy self, before rolling his eyes at you playing dumb

“to my confession, what else did i ask you in the past five minutes?” he stated nonchalantly, helping you clean your side of the car

and just when you thought you calmed down your heart and cheeks, it started to race again

“yeah i guess” you stated, trying to be nonchalant like him

junhui just looked over to you with an amused smirk and raised eyebrow

but when he saw your burning cheeks, he knew that you felt the same way

so with a quick kiss to your cheek, junhui ran off back to the other side

and you both were smiling like the little lovestruck dorks you were ❤️

It starts with a case. As it always does.

It’s the first case Abe has taken since his partner cameback into his life, and after they officially moved into their apartmenttogether. It should’ve been straightforward, an open-and-shut “Is my husbandsleeping with the nanny?” kind of case.

“If it’s so straightforward, then why won’t you let me comealong?”

The problem is his partner, who has now decided to embracetheir title with far more decisiveness than they did when he first hired themfor the job.

“Because I don’t need your help,” Abe answers. “I can solvea case like this in my sleep.”

“Then I’ll consider it a learning experience,” they argue. “Howam I going to be your partner if I’ve never worked more than a single casebefore? As a detective, anyway.”

He needs to stop forgetting that his partner was (is) a lawyer. “Will you just stay here?”he finally orders. “I’ll only be gone for a couple of hours, it would literallybe a waste of your time to join me.”

They don’t respond, and Abe assumes that’s the end of it.

“Are you upset with me?” they suddenly say as he’s puttingon his coat.

The question, less vulnerable and more frustrated, catcheshim off-guard. He turns back to them. “What? Of course not! Why would you saythat?”

“Because I feel like…I don’t know, like you’re treating medifferently, and I don’t understand why.”

Are they shittinghim right now?

“Partner,” he begins, “I don’t know if you recall, but ourlast case together? It was a centuryago. And it ended in horrific deaths, including yours and mine. Forgive me if I’mnot ready for a repeat of that, Jesus…”

“You just said this is an open-and-shut case, how does thatsuggest a repeat of what happened at the Manor?” they press. When he doesn’tanswer, they cross their arms. “You don’t have to treat me like I’m made ofglass, you know.”

“Who says I am?” Abe grabs his knapsack of supplies andheads for the door. “Look, I’ll be back in a couple of hours. There’s food inthe fridge—”

“Stop, you’re making it worse,” they grumble.

Abe supposes that’s fair, even if it hadn’t been hisintention to sound like a parent leaving a kid alone for the first time. Forone, the analogy would make this situation verywrong, but also…

Well, he isnervous about leaving them alone. But he’s even more terrified about having themout in the field with him.

So he leaves without another word, with the idea that whenhe gets back, the pair of them can negotiate how the next case will go.

“Hey, Partner, I’m back!” Abe greets distractedly as heopens the door to their apartment, about five hours later. “Sorry it took solong, but like I said, it was pretty uneventful and I got the evidence I need—”

Abe’s coat is half-off when he steps onto something with acrunch. A glance down reveals the shattered glass of a mirror. The mirror hehas hanging right by the entrance of the apartment for when he’s in a hurry.

A sense of dread builds in his chest, right where his bulletwound has scarred over. “Uh…Partner?” he calls out again, pulling his gun outas he progresses further into the apartment, where he now sees more brokenglass scattered all over the kitchen and living room. When he enters thebedroom, he sees shattered mirror glass trailing from their embarrassinglysmall bathroom.

“Please tell me you’re clumsier than I remember? Or, youknow, just speak up, you’re kindascaring me here, Partner!”

He finally sees them on the bathroom floor, leaning againstthe tub, arms stretched outward atop their bent knees. Blood drips from amillion tiny cuts on their trembling hands and splashes into growing puddlesonto the tile. His partner is staring blankly at the falling drops.

“Partner, what the hellhappened?!” Abe demands as he drops to the tile, heedless of the sharp glass.He takes their hands into his to better examine the damage.

“I…I don’t…”

They look so vacant, so desolate;Abe decides his questions can wait. He helps them to stand, slowly, in order toavoid the hazardous floor.

“Come on, let’s go take care of this in the kitchen. Watchyour feet.”

Abe sets up the first aid supplies at the kitchen table. Heand his partner sit in chairs on the same side. They haven’t spoken sinceleaving the bathroom.

His partner barely cringes as he cleans their injured palms,something which also tips him off to something bad.

What was he thinking? God,he should have trusted his instincts and not left them alone, but thealternative would have been having them in the field and he just…he’s not readyfor that yet.

“The mirrors…”

Their voice shouldn’t surprise him, but after the long stretchof quiet, it does. Abe shakes hishead in dismissal. “Don’t worry about them, Partner, I can get new—”

“I don’t like mirrors,” they interrupt in a wrecked, chokingtone.

Abe stops applying the antiseptic so he can look at them. “Sincewhen?”

But they’ve clammed up again, staring at the tabletop likethey expect to find some kind of comfort in the wooden whorls.

It must have to do with the Manor, Abe thinks. It’s the onlything they’re secretive about, what happened to them afterwards. And a quickglance around proves that, yes, the only things broken are the mirrors he hadhanging around, and the one handheld one that was next to the bed.

He thinks back to when he first found them in the streets,and the next day, when they asked to move in with him.

I don’t really want tobe on my own again.

Abe curses himself at the memory. “I screwed up,” he muttersaloud.

They finally look up at him again, brow furrowed. “What?”

“You told me you didn’t want to be alone, and I thought youjust meant in the streets.” He starts applying the antiseptic again. “I should’vefigured that was why you wanted to tag along in the first place.”

It’s as close to an apology as he can manage.

They shrug, a gentle motion so their hands don’t move toomuch. “How could you have known? I didn’t actually say it, and you can’texactly read minds.”

He appreciates their defense, but nonetheless, Abe can ownup to his own flawed logic. “I didn’t want to bring you because…well, I wasworried something could go wrong and…I guess I was worried my Curse might stillbe in effect.”

They pull away from him, suddenly, and Abe worries he mayhave driven them off, with the reminder that all of his other partners havedied too. But they just reach out to hold his hands, loosely, to avoidaggravating the cuts.

“When we talked about this last time,” they start, “youmentioned how hard it was, when I disappeared. I didn’t get to say it before,but I’m saying it now: I’m sorry,” he tries to stop the apology, but they cuthim off, “I never meant to hurt you, and…I missed you too.”

How did they have the courage to say it out loud when Abe couldbarely put it to words in his own head?

Since holding their hands in return isn’t really an option,Abe opts instead to pat their knee. “Thanks…Partner.”

“On that note,” they continue, “considering I’m not dead, Iwould say that your Curse may be a little ineffective, wouldn’t you say?”

Abe rolls his eyes and pulls bandages out of the first aidkit. “I’d rather not tempt fate, so I won’t answer that.”

“Look,” they say. “I’m your Partner. How it happened doesn’tmatter. I’m here with you, and the idea of spending my time alone, waiting to seeif you come back alive or not isn’t appealing at all. I already did that withmy parents during the war, I don’t want to relive that. I’d rather be out therewith you than here, stuck in my own head.” They glance away from him again,surveying the damage done to their home. “As you can probably tell, my headhasn’t been a pleasant place to be, lately.”

Abe lets that digest as he wraps their hands. He sees theirpoint, he really does, but it’s hard to temper down the crippling fear he hasof getting them killed on this job.

Though it didn’t takethe first time, for either of them.

But it might take thistime. And it could break you even worse than before.

Abe’s thoughts run in circles around the argument, both forand against his partner’s offer. In the end, it takes one more look at theirbattered palms to finally cement a decision.

“Looks like I’ll finally have a Watson of my own,” Abedeclares by way of agreement.

The smile that cuts across his partner’s face should not send his pulse racing the way itdoes. “Bold of you to call yourself a Holmes.”

“Don’t make me demote you, smart-ass, you just got hired.”

Melbourne is a wonderful city where many things could coexist in one--happiness and sadness, camaraderie and loneliness, hot and cold, quiet and full of life, productive and relaxed, bursting with unfocused energy yet incredibly organized, and for many reasons it’s become one of my favorite cities, and definitely my favorite to live in.
