Hiya! You posted in response to that steggy related anon and one thing caught my eye that I wanted to copy paste in an ask here if you don't mind ^_^: clearly also the only sort of relationship a lot of people still expect between a man and woman (for context, a romantic one) Honestly!!! A man and a woman can have a relationship that's not explicitly romantic/sexual in nature. I feel like that's not talked about a lot, even in general. With Steggy it seems like that has to be the lens; a romantic one. Even among Stucky shippers who historically flat out ignore Peggy's existence rather than exploring the possibilities of friendship/mentorship/respect/etc. between them especially in canon discussions or works (I have been guilty of this in my life, I will admit). I dunno I just think it was an interesting point and then I rambled a little lmao sorry!
yesss!! like, Peggy doesn't need to be in a romantic relationship with Steve in order to be relevant or important!! idk idk maybe I'm just tired of het romances written by men at this point, but I think it's so much more interesting to explore their relationship from a more platonic perspective (or at least an It's Complicated perspective)!
I used to actually really like their relationship before Endgame! I used to think it was a lovely The One Who Got Away sort of story about the bittersweetness of the passage of time ruining What Could Have Been with a crush you used to be certain you'd end up marrying someday, only to realize years down the line that it never would have worked but you still love each other in a different sort of way now... and isn't that SO much more interesting than your run-of-the-mill guy-gets-the-gal story? Endgame sort of put a downer on it all, but still 😞
like, so many people love Steve and Nat's relationship because they're such a beautiful friendship. we could have that with Steve and Peggy too!!
