My kid asked me to explain blood types to her today, which made me remember the odd little fact that in the character profiles that appeared at the ends of the earliest Bleach volumes, there are blood types listed for the human characters, but not for the shinigami characters. Shinigami obviously have blood, we've all seen it, we've seen so much of it, honestly, but is it like blood blood? Is blood transfusion a thing they do?
I did not have any particular recollection of anyone ever receiving a blood transfusion in Bleach, but I looked up all the hospital scenes I could think of off the top of my head. Both Byakuya nor Hinamori have sort of a notable absence of things sticking out of them. I'm no expert and I don't even particular like doctor shows, but this is a situation where I would expect both of them to have IVs for hydration, if nothing else. Hinamori's got a respirator and some mysterious carts off to her far side, at least, and maybe Byakuya's just far enough on the upswing that he doesn't need it anymore.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next shot was the famous Rukia and Renji sharing a hospital room scene.
Tumblr media
Renji's respirator goes...under his blanket? Is this right? This doesn't seem right. Rukia doesn't seem particularly attached to anything, although there's kind of a bundle of wires? tubes? coming out of her right shoulder area. You can see them better in this shot:
Tumblr media
That sure doesn't look like medical grade tubing, the lower one looks kinda like Hihiou Zabimaru, tbh. IVs usually work by gravity, no? Also those tubes are way too big to be going into someone's veins.
Finally, here's Kira, getting his dubious Squad 12 medical procedure.
Tumblr media
More shady, giant, intestine-ass looking tubes that... go into him? wtf. They're attached to a computer. Maybe these are data cables?
The upshot of all of this is that I don't think shinigami have blood transfusions. I can't imagine that they don't know about them, so I imagine it's more of a case of their blood is just part of their soul, like, all of them is just soul all the way down, and it would be nearly impossible to accept a transfusion that was made of someone else's soul (soulmate-enjoying fanfic writers, take note). They do like sticking tubes in people, tho.
This sucks because when I was originally thinking about this, of course I was thinking about all the blood Renji has in his body and whether or not he's a universal donor, because, frankly, if he is, I think they would have a special framed painting of him at Squad 4 and let him have as much donuts and apple juice as he wants.
I think the main reason manga list characters' bloodtypes anyway is because Japanese people use it as a personality test, similar to horoscopes. For the record, here are the characters whose blood types we know:
Ichigo - AO Orihime - BO Chad - AO Tatsuki - AO Isshin - AB Uryuu - AB Don Kanonji (????) - BO
When I was trying to look up what they meant, I found this hilarious graphic, thank you verywellmind dot com
Tumblr media
Looks to me like these blood types were definitely chosen to tie into personality at least to some degree (I'm not sure about Isshin, but he probably has fake Urahara Shouten-brand gigai blood-substitute anyway, so I am choosing not to read too deeply into that). Anyway, along those lines, judging from this chart, if we wanted to bootstrap Renji's blood type from his personality, I think he would, in fact, clearly fit into the idiot-on-a-skateboard quadrant. So he is a universal donor! (or at least he would be, if he were filled with blood instead of high-concentration ghost juice.)

augheheue also hey guys does anyone else ever think about how wesker never seems to administer the shots of PG67A/W to himself? excella seems to be the one giving him the doses, and assuming he relied on it before RE5, then the responsibility probably was also on someone else who wesker was certain wouldn't try to fuck him up with it- but it raises the question of why he never just self administers.
there's a cutscene where excella is seen giving wesker his dose and she just sorta jabs him in the arm and he flinches like ok theres so much to be said about that, and most of it is WHO INJECTS ANYTHING LIKE THAT (from the healthcare perspective what the actual fuck sort of angle is that to jab someone with a needle??? no prep??? yikes) but the other part is if wesker thinks he's going to be a god why the heck is he reacting like that
my guess is it's the very human PTSD that he has from his childhood. as noted, project w started with like 100+ children from all over the world, but only 13 lived to adulthood. if we're using 18+ as adulthood, then that's a massive yikes- it's also said that dr. marcus had the students in spencer's school infect themselves if they were deemed unfit- and that's also massively fucked up. but even before that, there's the matter of the actual wesker children and what happened to the majority of them.
i'm no expert on literally anything related to genetics, but i know that just because someone has a gene doesn't mean it's expressed??? that's why there are dominant and recessive genes??? per the RE info on wesker:
Prior to his exposure to Progenitor Virus, like the other Project W test subjects, Albert had certain special genes considered "superior" in his blood that made him immune to viral infections symptoms.
idk if there's a way to test for that being an expressed gene in like. a lab via blood draws, but if there isn't, and also knowing how massively fucked up the entire project w was, i'll bet the way this was figured out was by just trying to get wesker sick by various means. and some of those might've been through injections. there's also this in the concept art of the S.T.A.R.S team- saying "believe it or not, wesker is the same age as barry, 38" idk why that's not believable necessarily, some people age with grace, but that implies some OTHER things.
so, let's say something's funky with how wesker ages on a DEEPER biological level- maybe he looks young because he's uhh been experimented on! spencer wanted to be a god and was using the kids in project w so that they would also be able to withstand the virus- and it's said that albert got weird superpowers whereas alex didn't and this may have been due to the fact that alex was sick and albert wasn't! so that means i wouldn't put it past spencer to be doing a bunch of funky experiments on the kids that involved like. slowing down the aging process to try to keep their bodies in some peak condition???
anyway, all of this just adds up to wesker likely having a phobia of needles (and likely a general mistrust for the healthcare system, because all he's ever witnessed and received is MORE FUCKERY), but he knows he needs the shots, but he sure isn't keen on doing it himself? which almost seems counterintuitive- if he's so worried about being hurt by things like this, why wouldn't he do it himself, but the man has NO healthy coping skills so... i guess that's that.
this was extremely scattered but i needed to ramble about it thanks for coming to my tedtalk

For my own personal reference re: Dove eventually getting therapy:
The canonical therapist is named Jana. (Pre-boot canon, anyways, but I already cherrypick what I want from comics vs. cartoon, so what harm can a little continuity picking do?)
So according to the comicvine page here:
https://comicvine.gamespot.com/jana-bodie/4005-77183/
Jana appears in: The 2011 Zatanna series, issues 1, 8, and 11, and a Zatanna TPB from 2017. (Which might contain the same issues?)
....I've been wanting to read more about Zatanna for years, anyways.
(Kinda tempted to see what that post is talking about re: Sanctuary in Heroes in Crisis, but I didn't like the way that story handled my favorite characters, so I'm not too keen on reading THAT.)
Note-taking to come below the cut as I skin through to glean some canon tidbits.
From the excerpt I've already seen: I know her office seems to change its appearance (maybe shift its entire reality around?) based on her clients. Probably what they'd be the most comfortable in.
I forgot to remember it, but Jana herself seems to change shape, too!
I wonder if her changing form is a thing she does intentionally? Does she ask each client what they'd be most comfortable talking to her as? Because if she goes on What the Client Is, I think it could be really interesting if she takes a demon form upon meeting Dove, which Greatly Concerns Dove, until she explains that no, no she REALLY identifies more with her (mostly) human half and would very much prefer that form, please.
I just reread the excerpt on the post, and noticed her office seems to be accessible through otherdimensional means. Going there would probably disorient Dove quite a bit. (Which could give them a reason to work on her emet*phobia because traveling like that tends to get her senses and her stomach worked up. I don't think It Would Happen^tm, but she'd still be nervous and unsettled.)
"All are welcome to consult with her"-- that would probably relieve a sticking point for Dove. Trigon is canonically known in mystic circles, so Jana probably knows about him, right? So Dove would have learned He's Well Known and would worry Jana would refuse to treat her for it if she found out who her father is. That might be one of the things that Dove doesn't Specify until after several sessions. (Jana could probably tell Dove isn't keen to talk about it, and would probably ask why. But Dove wouldn't tell her without a lot of trust being built up first.)
Also, "her office is a neutral zone between realities". So maybe Dove wouldn't be AS disoriented as usual when she's traveling between facets of reality, but she could still mention that she was nervous to go there because it USUALLY makes her feel unwell?
(Azarath was described as being "between the dimensions", so maybe it's actually reassuringly EASY for her to get there? Dove physically has Azarathean blood, after all!)
And judging by Zatanna meditating in a circle of candles and the visualization of a ghostly form re-entering her: You need to astral project to get to Dr. Bodie's office? I mean, Dove can DO that but she'd probably need help. (She's much better at meditation as an adult than a teen, but astral projection isn't on her specialty list.) Maybe that's where I can have Raven come in: Helping Dove GET there the first time, but she won't STAY there.
(giggles to myself in Nexus reference that nobody will ever catch, probably.)
Actually? Hell, I've written Dove trying the soul-self thing a couple times! It never goes very well for Dove. Maybe this can be how she learns to do it Her Way, even if she's not as delineated between physical and astral bodies as Raven is.
Srentha could definitely help her Get there, though. Traveling between dimensions is one of HIS Specialties^tm.

anchor's endeavour commentary / pilot episode
this got so long i've had to stick most of it under a cut
the first shot we get of morse's face is so beautiful. he looks SO young. a baby.
Tumblr media
also the subtitles are (painfully slow typing) which is so funny. his typing is painfully slow.
socks hanging on the window to dry. idk why that's so funny to me.
him not hearing mcleash over his opera even though he's talking pretty loud
also love his excuse for getting out of going to the pub with mcleash. he points at what he's typing like it's work, which is what mcleash assumes, but it's literally his resignation letter lmao
then morse once again ignoring/not hearing mcleash on the bus and just staring out the window. daydreaming. music playing in his head
he's got the beige coat instead of the green one but it's still equally thin and cheap and i hate it
lott talking to morse and mcleash like they're children
almost the first thing morse says to him is a haughty little "wouldn't you think?" comment. i love him. he's such a little bitch sometimes
then he's in his lodgings. he looks so sad and pathetic. like a wet cat
ahhhh the first interaction with thursday!!! "there is one thing, sir" and thursday turns around. and listens. and it's SO important to morse. the first person to listen to him. yeah he then dismisses the idea a second later but still. he listened.
and then immediately the next scene is morse following that line of inquiry anyway lol
when he's talking to the woman he listens. "what makes you say that?" and a thoughtful little expression on his face. i adore him. the way he reacts to thursday listening to him as though he's the first person to ever give him a chance, vs the way he's always so careful listening to others. you become the person who would've saved you the time no one did. or smth
he's so grumpy when he gets into the office and immediately gets sent out again. so grumpy. it's easy to forget how grumpy he can get because he's also so vulnerable, but really, he's very bad-tempered sometimes.
i always forget how bad he is with the blood phobia this early on. he really really can't look. keeps such a long distance away too.
eww alex from university. "didn't take?" stfu leave him alone
how much morse struggles with his social skills. alex giving him a friendly tap while he says "word of advice..." and morse looking down at his collar where he touched him in confusion
ahhh his opera idol! he tries to walk away but then he can't stop himself from grinning and it's so cute and he just has to turn around, he can't help himself
he's so shy! right up until the moment he can get back on script. his planned script for the conversation
"what can i do for you mr morse" "actually it's detective constable morse"
the first time he takes work home with him!!! literally!!! he brought evidence home!!
he's using a folded up quilt as a desk
his hands are so pretty and slender.
Tumblr media
repeated pen clicking while he rocks himself back and forth a couple times!! stim!!
dorothea frazil and the "have we met" "i don't think so" "another life then" moment. ohhh i love it so much. it's so important.
ahhhh he's in the jag for the first time!!! his smile is so cute!!! blasting his opera!!
"friday, must be corned beef" yessss
"when it comes to reliability the fixed motion of the heavens has nothing on my win" awww <3 and also morse smiling about it
when thursday realises morse has been on the case and he just accepts it and listens. again.
oh and!! when they get in. thursday's "wait a minute" to the others, to get them to listen too. "the lad's been having a bit of a dig around the tremlett case. tell them"
how they stare at him and he starts to lose confidence. "...possibly." then they start to echo what he's saying and he looks so hopeful... and then so crushed and upset when they shoot his idea down entirely.
lmao and then the smug look when it turns out to be right.
"who's a clever boy then." lott :/
okay but when the victim's family member starts sobbing and collapses to the floor. morse's reaction is so important to me. he kneels first to rub her back. but then she wails, and he just leans forward and he's not even fully hugging her, he's sort of bracing her with his own body, like he's trying to give her something to push against. i just think it says a lot about what he would want in that situation. he wants someone to be solid while he's breaking down.
this is getting so long i keep hitting the character limit per text block and coming back to split it up
the autopsy!! oh he's trying so hard. he's trying so hard to be brave. looks away with his eyes as much as he can but without turning his head away. then there's a little wobble ( and as someone who passes out for medical reasons fairly often, that is an exceptionally accurate portrayal. there's so often a little wobble first where you don't realise you're going down, you just feel a bit unsteady ) and then there it is. he's gone.
okay but the shot where thursday catches him, you can see the very end of the shot roger going "OH SHIT". he defo dropped him lmao and they just cut the sound
"you'll be alright." sir he's unconscious on the ground
"actually sir i don't drink" "very commendable. now get that down you" noooooooo :(
actually though "if you're going to apologise, don't". that's sweet
red jag!!!! <3
when he's walking with dr stromming he's nearly jogging to keep up with him. they keep putting him near people who are taller than him!! makes him look smaller than he really is
when he stands talking to someone he often has his hands clasped behind his back. which. as someone who also does that. is sometimes a way to stop ur hands from fidgeting.
"you didn't used to be so cruel" this is one of the things i adore about morse. even with people he's friendly with, or trying to be friendly with, he doesn't hesitate to bluntly state when he doesn't like what they said. and then "poor old morse. you were never oxford material. too bloody decent, by half" so mean. why is everyone so mean to him.
when he's shaving it sort of looks like he's wearing a t-shirt ( unusual ) and it looks a little bit like it's on inside out, with the seams on the outside. it's probably just the way it's designed, but. still
thursday walking morse to the chief super's office, "just tell dcs crisp what you told me, alright?" reassuring him. i love morse's combo of arrogance and anxiety
"he's lying. i know he is" oh babe. baby boy.
"he was still in love with her, he couldn't have harmed her" hopelessly, hopelessly romantic. i love him.
nooooo he's gone to the pub upset for the first time. nooooo
"any stupidity was mine"
talking about his mother. he's so heartbreakingly vulnerable when he's talking about her. "someone soft. the scent of her hair. tenderness"
"now get out of my office before i have someone break your legs, you little bastard" and morse looks so upset and scared by that. and he does get out of his office. i love how scared he is, so so so much. a protagonist who's so visibly and frequently frightened is unusual and it's so special.
"and who gave you leave to do that?" "i did" thursday to the rescue!!!! yesss!!!
so he got scared and went to the station and then from this point on, he's got thursday with him. morse stands slightly behind him, which is so cute.
ahhh the bit where thursday sends morse out to the car to look for tobacco!! morse is so gullible sometimes i love it. i love it so much. and then he comes back and he's so surprised to find thursday committed violence. he just can't believe it.
"what about the law?" oh baby. sweetheart. your black and white thinking. i love it.
"did inspector thursday hit teddy samuels" "no sir" such an interesting moment for morse's sense of morality! and then he gets yelled at. and he reacts visibly to it. again, the vulnerability in him. he's so so reactive. he hands over his letter of resignation.
"i read your file, boy" lott calling morse 'boy'. that's the second time.
ohhh then with rosalind calloway. "you saved my life". he's referencing i think the time when he was a suicidal teen living with his father and stepmother. knowing about that from i.m. gives so much context to that scene.
"are you flirting with me?" "a little. perhaps." so soft. so shy but also so honest. SO vulnerable. that's what strikes me about so much of this episode. he's so vulnerable in so many ways and i love that about him, but he still has this edge to him that you wouldn't expect from someone with such vulnerability.
"perhaps better to have loved and lost." "so i'm told" ohhh he hurts so much. he's hurting so much.
ok ok then it cuts to the next morning, and he's on his bed, fully clothed still, dead asleep. and the note pinned to his chest is from thursday. so there's a whole ass missing scene there where thursday finds him, presumably drunk, and gets him home. so. does he go to thursday, upset and drinking? does thursday come across him?
also love how morse handed in his resignation and was absolutely set on it, and then one (1) note from thursday and he goes running straight back. all it takes is one person's belief in him.
"dear, dear? a young girl strangled [etc.] and all you can say is dear, dear?" he's so cross!!! god i love him. he's so blunt and genuine. absolutely no ability to hide his emotion. love how thursday has to rein him in.
oh he's so upset now he's worked out the truth. poor boy.
thursday wanting to go on and interrupt the performance, and morse stopping him. beautiful.
oh him crying in his room listening to her record. and crying outside her cell. and crying again realising she's dead. poor poor baby. so young and so vulnerable and so deeply heartbroken.
thursday picking him up to take him to the station. so sweet.
"mind if i drive?" ahhh he loves driving. he loves it. so cute.
morse staring at himself in the car mirror. totally zoned out. he zones out so often
"endeavour!" the way he looks so cross about that.

1- Horror stuff, I can't deal with any horror things, I'm very sensible to the topic. Just watching the first season of Stranger Things my blood pressure dropped. (It has also dropped in a biology class where we were studying genetic diseases or syndroms.) So yeah, can't deal with that. (Sorry yeah that means I avoid halloween content a lot)
2- Arachnidis, I can't see one without getting a reaction also if I decide the animal looks like one I also won't be chill taking a look at it.
3- Dark, nictophobia is my phobia number one, while I was growing I have learned to control it better, but I rather keep even a small light next to me in case I need it.
4- Injustice, I always try to stand up if I think something wrong is happening to someone, I don't care what other people think. If I believe it's incorrect and needs to be changed Imma do it. I have fought even my family because of things like this. I won't hate you for this, I'll just try and stand up in favor of it.
5- Disrespect, same description of the above if you're wrong in doing it so. Imma talk 'bout it. Imma display my mind on the topic.
I think we cool for now. If you have any questions about me. I believe my questions inbox is open, feel free to ask smth to me there.
It's literally 01:40 AM right now. I'm heading to bed. Hope you guys have a good morning, afternoon, night or whatever you're living now.
Love y'all take care and have a friendly tight hug if you want if you don't feel greeted on your favorite way, bye hope to see ya around.

I've been meaning to do a black girls in webtoons reclist and I'm a little nervous about it because I'm white, but I haven't seen any comparable lists yet so. Here I go.
Note: this is based on the characters.
I haven't checked to see whether the authors are black or not because although that approach is well-meaning and has its own purpose (boosting black women who make comics), it can also lead to gatekeeping and invasive behavior on the part of fans.
The creators on the webtoons platform often use psuedonyms, so I usually don't go looking for more information than they provide.
My focus here is black girls and women who are treated well by the narrative, because I've seen from other posters that those are the kinds of stories that they would like to read.
With that in mind! I'm just going to go with the first one I see on my subscription list:
This is a superhero comic with a black female lead. She's the one who gets the gang together, and she comes from a society that has some interesting eyewear. (It's kind of a cultural thing.)
All of this is explained in the comic as a part of an ongoing plotline, and everyone's powers feel fresh and interesting.
Note: I do actually know that one of the creators is a black man! It's a team of people who seem pretty neat.
This one is probably suitable for most ages, but there's superhero violence and associated trauma sometimes. They get into social injustice as an ongoing theme for the entire comic, and the characters collectively decided to crash at the place of the richest guy on the team.
He is not thrilled about this.
I love this disaster trans girl.
Mal is a fan of a band called the Crawmamas, and her bff accidentally lands her a job as their social media manager. She is, unfortunately, head over heels for the dirty rat man guitarist.
This comic is going to have themes that are considered adult, like drinking and smoking and sexytimes.
Mal's mom doesn't approve of her wrist tattoo, but she's supportive of "her baby girl" and the other characters either don't know or are supportive (so far).
(I can't vouch for how the narrative will handle things in the future, but she's touring with a tits out type of rock band some of the crew members are gay. I'm not worried about the way the story will handle it.
Even if almost every single character is a disaster human. Help them.)
It's the story of Shahrazad! I read The Shadow Spinner when I was a kid, but not the original story, so I've never seen it like this before.
If you're not familiar: the main character is forcibly married to the rule of her kingdom.
Or, well, she volunteers for the forced marriage process so that she can get revenge on him for killing her best friend.
Along the way, she unveils a curse, and sets about trying to unravel it.
There's violence in this story, but I don't think it's super graphic. It's only a feel-good story if you're into clever, booksmart women who learn to fight injustice in their own ways.
(If you don't like the idea of her catching feelings for the caliph, this story might not be for you.)
If I were to narrow this list down to just soft love stories, this comic would be included. (Gonna be honest: I almost didn't read the whole thing because of the art style, but I'm so glad I did.)
Yani is a short, chubby black girl, and Cage is the tallest, biggest guy in highschool.
... unfortunately this means that she's scared of him at first.
The feeling isn't mutual at all: he saw on stage in a school play and immediately became 100% more interested in Shakespeare.
When their teacher sets him up to tutor her (it's not a romantic thing), he's stoked and she finds out that mostly? He's just shy.
This comic talks about sex in an informative way in the later chapters, and Yani's friends help her overcome a phobia that she's embarrassed to tell people about.
Overall, it's really sweet and wholesome. And it's pretty much completed, so no surprises here!
This is one of my favorite comics of all time, I think.
Ray is a college-age lady who's struggling to figure out her career path--as a seer in a world where you can bake magic into food.
She likes to go to her favorite bakery once a week to have a slice of romance. (Not sure if the romance is in the jam, the bread, or both, but it looks really pretty.)
She seems to have a crush on the lady who owns the bakery (who is also a black woman and happens to be a happily married lesbian), and she helps her love interest overcome his fear of (broomstick) flying (which is similar to driving in this universe-- you have to get a license.)
This one should be safe for all ages, I think! It's one of the softest, sweetest comics I've ever read.
So the actual main character in this comic is basically black gay batman in a purple devil suit, but I'm recommending it because it has two women of color as main characters in the first two seasons.
If you want a smooth recap of the entire thing, read the latest update. Here's the short version:
Honoria Crabb is a hard-nosed cop, until she sees that the entire city is corrupt and and the police force isn't what she'd hoped it would be. She's basically tying the story together right now--you might see what I mean if you click the last link.
Theresa Ferrier is a famous detective, the line of Sherlock Holmes. I say this not because of her personality, but because has a best-selling series about her adventures and has a comparable reputation in this universe.
She's also bald, uses a cane, and is married to the love of her life--Margeurite, a famous painter with a rare brain disease. (Margeurite can't see very well, uses a wheelchair, and is usually carrying her beloved bulldog. )
Theresa basically comes out of retirement to help fund her wife's treatment, and by the end of the second season she retreats so that she can devote herself to her care.
It doesn't even feel like the author is sidelining her or anything--she's influenced the other characters a great deal, and she just wants to care for her wife and be happy.
Overall, you'll like this comic if you like detective stories and masked vigilantes. There's violence and blood, and associated trauma.
I love this comic so much, and I'm a person who tries to stay away from zombies as much as possible.
...let me just show you the main cast:

Spoiler: there's healthy polyamory at the end.
...not with all of them. Two of them in this picture are involved, though, and one of them is black.
(The coach is also black. He gets bitten by the first zombie they see, so the girls have to take care of him. They do a decent job of it.)
I'm not sure how much more I can say without spoiling it because I get too excited. Ya got your jock black girl and your soft cute black girl on the same highschool basketball team, though, so that's why it made this list.
This comic is hilarious and it feels like a slice of life in spite of the fact that it's set during a zombie apocalypse. 10/10 would recommend.
(I also highly recommend the author's other work, which is more graphic and uses more colors in its palette, but that one centers a gay couple. There's some great black ladies in it but they're not the focal point, so I'm just going to mention it as an aside.
You can find it by clicking on the comic description and scrolling to the bottom.)
So the main character starts out a bike messenger. The best damn bike messenger in town.
This is how she becomes a bike messenger for the gods.
It's all very dramatic, and the new job comes with a teleporting magic vending machine for helpful bike parts that help her navigate the godly realm.
Her best friend is another black lady, who works with books and is a badass in her own right, and Dare herself is definitely not straight.
This comic is completed and everything ends well! Dare gets a satisfying love life with another woman and the world is no longer ending.
This comic is sweet, so I'm going to include it, but I don't think it's ever going to be finished.
Ola and her family are illegal immigrants. This comic is a slice of life about her trying to navigate highschool without exposing her family.
The overall tone is pretty light, but I'd you have any experience with that then if might make you nervous.
I don't want to pick favorites, but this one's my favorite.
In a world where you can modify your body the same way we can currently mod videogames, our main character notices another girl who takes the subway because she doesn't use any mods at all.
It's because she has a chronic illness, so she uses technology that others consider outdated (that seems futuristic to us) to help her navigate the world.
She's not in pain all the time, but she has to be careful. Certain types of technology in their world can affect her very badly, so she has to avoid them the same way you'd avoid allergens.
The main character changes her look frequently, but she's always shown as black and, towards the end of the comic, she shares a conversation she had with her mother as a child about the importance of her natural features.
This is an interracial relationship, and the love interest is a white hispanic. She has two dads, and the main character has a mom, a dad, and her mom and dad's partner.
...I'm not super clear on their relationship as it is in the comic but the creator confirmed that they're in a polycule.
This is the kind of comic that makes you feel like you light up inside as you read it. It should be safe for most ages, I think the most adult things in it are job opportunities and kissing. (I'm going off memory, here. I'm doin my best.)
The author also has another comic about a college age magic user who bulldozes her way into an apprenticeship because she's determined to not let her magical form of dyslexia get in the way of her life plans.
(She can't read the spell books at all, so makes herself seeing eye familiar out of what looks like a floppy stuffed animal and a ritual.
The ritual itself isn't clear yet.)
The main character isn't black herself, so I'm not including it as its own entry, but her mentor is black. She's a sweet lady with an adopted son, anxiety, and an understanding girlfriend.
This one doesn't have a final ending because the author came up against a pretty heavy duty mental block, but it did end on a series finale and although it's bittersweet, I think it's pretty good.

Ok...
Guys, I'm too lazy to finish the whole Aunt Mother horror story, so I'll just give you all a summary.
(Octavius Niccals, Gomorrah Niccals and Gallagher Niccals belong to @yoel-o-fellow)
I'm sorry.
Warning:Gore,phobia,violence,sexual moments,and nudity.
Octavius and Gomorrah need a "break" from Sebastian and Marvin, so they decided to give them to someone for a week. Eventually, Octavius bumps into Aunt Mother and ask her kindly to babysit Sebastian and Marvin for a week. Aunt Mother hesitates, but agrees to take care of them.
Meanwhile, lots of bad things are happening to Sebastian, but suddenly he gets a weird feeling that something might happen, then he gets really paranoid when he sees a sunflower on the front yard of his home.
Three weeks later, Sebastian and Marvin wake up early to go to Aunt Mother's house. She lives very far away ( in the middle of nowhere). Marvin was quite excited and curious, but Sebastian was worried and paranoid. He didn't know why.
A few hours later, the family arrived at Aunt Mother's home. Sebastian gets even more paranoid when he sees that her house is surrounded by a field of sunflowers.
When Gomorrah and Octavius leave (happily), Sebastian and Marvin are left with Aunt Mother. She welcomed them with open arms, making Marvin already trust her. Sebastian, however, is still suspicious of her.
Aunt Mother was curious of why Sebastian was uncomfortable near her. One night, Aunt Mother and Sebastian had a conversation in the bedroom. Sebastian was surprisingly honest why he didn't seem to trust her.
It hurt Aunt Mother's feelings, making Sebastian feel bad. Then Aunt Mother asks how was Sebastian and his family doing. Sebastian hesitated to tell her, but he told her anyway out of nowhere. Then he immediately start crying. Very hard.
Aunt Mother soothes him and tells him that everything is going to be alright and that she knows how it feels to be abused by your family. Sebastian suddenly feels better and Aunt Mother tells him that if he wants a better life he has to fight for it.
After that, Sebastian and Marvin had the best week ever. Aunt Mother made delicious meals, gave them soothing baths, and made them sleep onto the softest beds. Aunt Mother started to love the boys and they started to love her too.
Even Sebastian started to change. His grades got higher, he stared behaving at school, and he even started studying with MM and Ripley (which kinda scared them).
When, Gomorrah and Octavius returned, Marvin was bummed that they had to go, but Sebastian didn't want to leave. Aunt Mother waved goodbye to them and in the car, Sebastian kept looking back at her.
Bad things started happening to Sebastian again and he started to miss Aunt Mother. Marvin started to miss her too. Gomorrah overheard Sebastian and Marvin talk about how sweet and great Aunt Mother was, completely annoying Gomorrah. But what really made her mad, is when Marvin said that he wished that Aunt Mother was his real mom instead of Gomorrah and Sebastian did too.
Gomorrah felt replaced and jealous (green with envy. Ba-dum tush!) that an odd woman would be a way better mother than Gomorrah. Eventually, Gommorah had an argument with Sebastian and he completely roasted her, so Gomorrah drove to her house to give Aunt Mother a piece of her mind.
When she arrived, Gomorrah scolded Aunt Mother in the most saltiest and rudest way, leaving Aunt Mother very confused and offended. Aunt Mother tries to ask and reason with her but Gomorrah just scolded her and told her, "Go to hell!" and leaves.
When Gomorrah returned home, she sees that Sebastian and Marvin had a beating. Sebastian was completely sick and tired of bad things happening to him. So later that night, Sebastian and Marvin ran away to Aunt Mother's house. I almost took forever and they had to walk. They arrived at dawn and it was raining.
Aunt Mother ran outside with an umbrella. Sebastian runs towards her with tears in his eyes, along with Marvin. They both hug her. Sebastian tells Aunt Mother everything and that he hates his life. She calms him down at offers them to stay with her.
When Octavius find out he didn't seem to care, but he suddenly felt angry. He searched everywhere for the boys, then he made his way to Aunt Mother's.
Aunt Mother gave Sebastian and Marvin lots of love. She even asked them if they wanted to stay for the rest of their lives. Sebastian and Marvin said yes.
Then one day, Aunt Mother told the boys to hide upstairs. Sebastian and Marvin were confused why, but they did it anyway.
Octavius arrived at Aunt Mother's home, furiously. Aunt Mother started to play dumb and asked him what was wrong. Octavius just slapped her and demanded Aunt Mother to give his sons back, but she stood her ground.
Aunt Mother threatened him that if he didn't leave, she would call the police for child abuse. Octavius grabbed her neck and rammed her against the wall before she could do anything. Octavius suddenly felt bloodthirsty. He didn't know why, but then he snapped.
When Aunt Mother escaped his grasp, she tried to reach for the phone, but it was too late. Octavius impaled her with a fireplace poker. Sebastian heard Aunt Mother's choking and ran downstairs to help her.
But by the time he came, he watched in horror as Octavius strangled Aunt Mother on the floor in a large puddle of her blood.
Aunt Mother died.
Tumblr media
(Its a sunflower covered in blood.)
When Octavius realized what he did, he began to panic and tried to hide her body. He then buried her body in her sunflower field and forced Sebastian and Marvin in the car.
After the worst beating of their lives, Sebastian grows livid and stabs Octavius in the back with a pen, making him angrier. They got into a bloody fight. Sebastian went berserk and literally almost bit Octavius' ear off.
Sebastian cried for days after Aunt Mother's death, while Marvin didn't sleep for days. But, suddenly Sebastian grew afraid and paranoid that something terrible would happen.
A week later Octavius is still shooken that he killed Aunt Mother. He didn't feel like eating or sleeping. Gomorrah tells him that sunflowers started to grow in the backyard, making him even more paranoid. Octavius tried to wash the dry blood that was on his hands, but it never came off.
That's where it all began. Octavius began to see Aunt Mother hallucinations, driving him to the edge everyday. One night, Octavius couldn't stand it anymore and burned the sunflowers in the backyard, only for more sunflowers to appear.
The scariest experience he had is when Octavius was home alone and the phonograph started playing by itself and repeating:
youtube
"Here comes the boogeyman-"
"Here comes the boogeyman-"
"Here comes the boogeyman-"
"Here comes the boogeyman-"
Octavius began to scream and he smashed the phonograph into pieces, making his hands bleed. He never felt more terrified in his life. Then he heard a door close and hollow breathing.
With every direction he looked, he saw Aunt Mother's shadow, causing him to lose it. "GET AWAY FROM ME! L-LEAVE ME ALONE!" He shouted. He ran to his room and locked the door and turned off the lights.
He hid underneath the covers hoping that the hallucination was gone, but when he gets from underneath the covers, Aunt Mother is in front of him and she lunges at him.
Octavius later wakes up in the hospital. He doesn't remember what happened but, Gomorrah said that she was too scared to talk to him.
Gomorrah was next. She started feeling really paranoid. She tried taking care of the boys just for once, but they never wanted to talk to her.
But, one night, Gomorrah heard quick footsteps. She got up from bed only to see Sebastian. Annoyed, she walks towards him to go back to bed, but gets quite a surprise instead. She watched in fear as she saw Sebastian walk slowly into the garden as if he was drawn to it (like a zombie).
He began to pluck the sunflowers from the ground one by one. Gomorrah was terrified. When she called out to him, Sebastian turned around slowly and gave her the most horrifying glare ever. In horror, Gomorrah runs back into the room.
In the morning, Gomorrah wakes up to find that Sebastian and Marvin are gone. On the phone, she tells Gallagher what happened. He didn't seem to care much, but he told her that everything is going to be fine. Gomorrah didn't think so.
At the hospital, Octavius was having the worst time of his life. He had splitting headaches, insomniac moments, and lack of appetite. The doctors did everything they can to help him, but Octavius kept telling them that Aunt Mother was out there, trying to kill him.
Tumblr media
"Please, you don't understand!" He would say, "She's dead and she's still out there! She's trying to kill me! She's watching me everyday! She... SHE'S A MONSTER!!"
But, none of the doctors believed him. Octavius kept having nightmares that were actually real. There was one nightmare, that a young, pregnant, Gomorrah was watching him at the dark corner of the room at night.
She began to talk about how much she hated him and how much she wanted to kill him. Her body began to melt, her blood and sloppy globs of flesh would dangle off her bones.
Her bloated belly split open and two large bodies fell from inside. It was Sebastian and Marvin. Octavius would scream in his sleep and even tried to impale his other eye with a scalpel, but the doctors would run inside and strap him onto the bed.
Sebastian was guiding Marvin to Aunt Mother's home. Marvin asked him why. "I just want to put these sunflowers on her home. Just to honor her." Sebastian said. Marvin agreed with him and continued.
When they finally arrived, they placed the sunflowers on her porch, but to their surprise...
Aunt Mother walks outside.
Sebastian and Marvin runs towards Aunt Mother and give her a tight hug. They both begin to cry in joy and confusion. Aunt Mother is surprised and she hugs back.
"Oh, dear! My boys! Are you alright? Why are you crying? I've missed you both very much!"
Sebastian and Marvin had no idea how Aunt Mother were alive, but they didn't care. They both loved her very much.
When they stayed with her, they started to feel weird. They noticed odd things about Aunt Mother too. Marvin noticed that she had bruises on her feet. Sebastian noticed that she never bothered to eat or sleep. Aunt Mother would often walk outside and water the sunflowers. When she came back inside she would look tired.
Marvin asked her what was wrong and Aunt Mother replied in a gloomy voice, "I was watering the flowers."
Sebastian and Marvin insisted onto bringing her to bed. Aunt Mother protested and said that she didn't want to sleep. Sebastian begged her to go to bed and she finally agreed.
She went to bed, but she didn't fall asleep. Aunt Mother told the boys that she couldn't sleep because she had insomnia. Sebastian knew she was sad about something, so he asked her what was up.
Aunt Mother hesitated, but then she told him the really sad story about how she lost her husband and her son.
Marvin and Sebastian were very surprised. Aunt Mother smiled sadly, and told them not to worry. When Sebastian asked her what was her son's name, she just shook her head.
"He's probably Marvin's age (18) by now." She said.
Meanwhile, Gomorrah doesn't seem to care about the boys being gone, but as time went by she felt like she was being watched. She tried to sleep, but no matter how many times she tried, her eyes would immediately open.
When she walked in the living room, the power went out. She gasped in horror when she saw something in the dark.
Tumblr media
It starts to walk towards her.
Gomorrah began to scream and ran into the room. She closes the door and locks it. It bangs on the door from the other side. Then it stops. Water comes from underneath the door. Then she hears herself screaming from the other side of the door. Then it turns silent.
Water spills beneath the door. Then she hears a baby crying. Gomorrah opens the door and sees a baby Sebastian.
"S-Sebastian?"
Baby Sebastian looks at her with white eyes and began to cry and ran away into the darkness. Gomorrah runs after him with tears in her eyes, only for green hands to reach out and grab Gomorrah's neck.
It was Octavius.
He pins her onto the wall, strangling her. Octavius' eyes were white and blood was coming from his mouth. His body began to shift.
It was Aunt Mother.
"This is all your fault." Aunt Mother spat. Gomorrah's eyes roll back and black ooze runs from her eyes.
Gomorrah jolts awake.
She sits up, relieved that she's still alive, but when she's sees hand prints on her neck, she realized that it wasn't a dream.
Feeling scared to be alone, Gomorrah visits Aunt Mother out of paranoia. They talk for a moment then things get a little scary. (From the sneak peek.)
When Gomorrah returned home she calls Gallagher. Gallagher gets annoyed a tells her that he's coming over. Gomorrah panics and realized that Aunt Mother would hurt him if he did come over. Before she could warn him , he already hung up.
(I don't want this to be too long, so let's get this over with.)
Good Ending
Octavius escapes from the hospital and searches for Gomorrah. When he arrived, Gommorah warns him about Aunt Mother. They both realized that they were wrong for hurting Sebastian and Marvin and decided to take them back as parents.
When they arrive, Aunt Mother gets angry and attacks them in her true form. Sebastian and Marvin defend them and told her that it's was alright. Octavius and Gomorrah apologize and pleaded to have their sons back. Aunt Mother spares them. Sebastian began to cry and said one last goodbye to Aunt Mother as they leave.
"If you hurt them again, I will find you." She said to Gomorrah and Octavius.
They agree and immediately leave.
From that day on, Gomorrah and Octavius soften up on the boys little bit, but they're still a little harsh.
Octavius often visits Aunt Mother's house to give her a bowl of sunflower seeds to prove that he kept his promise of being good.
Everyone wins.
Bad Ending
Octavius tries to escape from the hospital due to madness, but the doctors find him and strap him onto the bed. Octavius then begins to laugh in a psychopathic way and decapitates himself with a bone saw.
Octavius dies.
Gomorrah is still alone in the house at night, scared for her life. When Gallagher arrives at the house, Gomorrah tries to warn him to not go in the house, but it was to late.
Aunt Mother was behind him.
She slowly kills Gallagher by throwing his body in the house. Gomorrah panics and hides under the bed and didn't come out until Gallagher's screaming stopped.
In terror, from underneath the bed she could see Gallagher's mutilated body staring at her, choking on his own blood. Sunflowers were grown into his body, through his mouth and his lower body was missing.
Gomorrah was in complete shock. She didn't come from under the bed until morning. When the police came that afternoon, they told her that Octavius was dead. When they saw Gallagher's corpse, they asked what happened, but Gomorrah remained silent.
The only thing she said was, "I'm scared."
Back at Aunt Mother's house, Sebastian woke up early and saw that Aunt Mother was making breakfast. When he finds out that Octavius committed suicide, Gallagher was murdered, and Gomorrah became mute, he immediately realized that Aunt Mother did it.
Aunt Mother gives him cold-eyed stare as Sebastian looks back with a stoic look.
"I'm sorry if it scares you." She said, "I'm rather a pacifist."
Sebastian smiled calmly...yet sadistically.
He immediately forgives her and helps make her breakfast, leaving Aunt Mother surprised.
(Whew, that was long! Did you guys like the story? And if you look closely, you can see a few easter eggs and some horror movie references! Which ending did you like better?)

Conversation
Companions plus faction leaders see get Sole get gravely injured and while trying to help them, they try to walk it off and continue the fight
Cait: One moment, both Cait and Sole were having the time of their lives, decimating supermutants. The next, Sole was screaming while a mutant dog tore up their arm. Cait bashed the dog's head in without a moment's hesitation. She was about to go back into the fight when she saw Sole trying to get up and grab their weapon. "Oh, no you don't! Sit back down Sole!" Sole said that they were perfectly capable of fighting, but Cait wasn't having it. She forced Sole to stay seated, then threatened them to stay or else. Sole begrudgingly allowed Cait to fix them up. After she was done, she pointed a finger at Sole and told them that if they worried her like that again, she'd kill them herself.
Codsworth: Codsworth honestly thought that Sole was invincible before he saw them get torn up by a feral ghoul. He told Sole that they should heal themselves while he takes care of the remaining ghouls, but Sole wasn't hearing it. They told him that they were fine and limped back into the fray. Codsworth couldn't really argue with Sole, so he made sure to take care of the toughest enemies. Ensuring that Sole would have it easier.
Curie: Curie lets out a rather loud gasp when she sees the blood blossoming on Sole's thigh while they were fighting gunners. Curie tries to treat it right away, even with Sole telling her to stop over and over again. Sole just keeps on firing their gun while Curie patches their leg up as best she can with them standing. When the last of their enemies were down, Curie properly fixes Sole's leg, not noticing their piercing stare until she glanced up. "What's the matter madam/monsieur..?" She looks quite shocked. "You got in my way during the fight!" Curie winces and tiltes her head down. "I-I'm sorry, but you seemed to b-be in pain..." She looked up. "I just wanted to help, really!" Sole put their hand on their kind hearted companion's shoulder. "I know Curie, but next time help me when everything wanting to kill us is dead."
Danse: Sole got knocked out for a few seconds when a synth hit them with a shock baton. Danse quickly destroyed it, before turning to Sole with his brow furrowed in worry. "You okay soldier?" Sole blinked out the remaining spots in their vision. "Yeah, I'm fine." They tried to stand, but ended up falling right back down. They tried twice more before Danse commanded them to stay. Sole tried to protest, but to no avail. They couldn't disobey a direct command from someone with a higher rank than them. By the time Danse returned, Sole was able to walk, but Danse still had them lean on him. After a few minutes of silence, Sole looked up at Danse and quietly asked him, "Please don't tell Elder Maxson about my screw up today." Danse kept looking forward, but there was a small smile on his face. "Of course soldier. I know you'd do the same for me."
Deacon: Sole and Deacon were doing fairly well against a group of raiders up until Sole slipped and got shot multiple times in the stomach. Deacon turned around when he heard Sole's scream. His eyes went wide, panicking for a second before pulling himself together. He shot the raiders around them before running up to inspect Sole's injuries. They tried telling him that they're fine, but coughed up blood while doing so. "Uh-huh. I've heard some pretty bad lies in my time, but I think that one just took the cake. Sorry, but you're staying where you are." All Sole could do was groan and lean their head back while Deacon finished up. He already had stimpacks ready when he came back to Sole's spot. They ended up camping there for the night, giving Sole plenty if time to think about how lucky they are to have Deacon as a companion.
Dogmeat: Sole gets grazed by a feral's bony hands while in downtown Boston. Dogmeat thinks that Sole is seriously hurt, so he goes absolutely berserk on the rest of the ferals. 'Must protect human!' Sole ends up not being able to shoot anything because Dogmeat's in the way. He gets rewarded with a brahmin steak later on for being such a good boy.
Hancock: Hancock damn near went feral when Sole got seriously hurt by a raider. He only increased the violence when he saw that Sole was trying to help him, scared that they'd get in an even worse condition. He was not going to lose the one good thing he had left on this world. When he saw Sole's dumbfounded look after he was done, he burst out laughing. "Chalk that up to 'reasons why I'm awesome." That snapped Sole out of it. "Yeah, yeah. Just fix me up already." He did it without hesitation and helped Sole to their feet. While they were walking away, Hancock ruffled Sole's hair affectionately, and told them not to worry him so much. Sole just smirked and said that they couldn't promise anything.
MacCready: While fighting a bunch of gunners, Sole was flung across the street by a man in power armour. "Holy fu-frick!" MacCready's eyes went wide when he saw his friend sprawled across the pavement. Thankfully, Mac shot the guy between the eyes before he could deliver the final blow. MacCready was relieved when he saw Sole get up, but that was quickly replaced by fear when they suddenly clenched their abdomen. "Boss! Are you okay?" Sole grimaced more than they smiled, but they assured him that they were alright. In reality, Sole just didn't want to worry him. A few broken bones is nothing. MacCready was a bit skeptical, but trusted Sole to know what they were doing. The poor guy never learned that Sole was actually very hurt.
Nick: Nick thought he was going to overheat with how hard he was working to keep Sole safe. Sole had just gotten a nasty gash from a mirelurk a few minutes prior, and Nick didn't want them to over exert themselves with more fighting. When the last mutated crab was down, Nick went to heal Sole straight away. They tried pushing him away, insisting that they were fine. Nick stared them down and said, "Sole." That one word was enough to make Sole give in. They couldn't compete with Nick's stern voice. He had a smug smile the entire time he was fixing them up.
Piper: "OH MY GOD! BLUE!" Needless to say, Piper was downright terrified. The last thing she wanted was for her best friend to die. She didn't even wipe out the rest of the enemies, she just picked up Sole and ran. She ran until she came across Diamond City. Piper took Sole to the clinic, demanding immediate medical attention. All the stress made Piper pass out on her friend's cot after the doc fixed them up. She was just glad that Sole would be alright.
Preston: There was only one stingwing left when it stung Sole. Preston made short work of it, but the poison was spreading quickly, making Preston tear up because he didn't know how to save his friend. He soon sobered, however, when he saw Sole start to walk away. "Where do you think you're going? We need to get you help!" Sole didn't even glance back, probably because they were wincing. "Eh. I'll be okay." Preston wasn't going to let them have their way. He ran up to them, and without warning, hefted Sole over his shoulder. He ran all the way to the nearest settlement, even with Sole demanding he put them down.
Strong: He let Sole get back up and continue to fight after they got hurt by some mutants. He would've thought them weak if they hadn't. Strong did go on ahead to take the brunt of the fire, so that Sole wouldn't die of course. Then who would help him find the milk of human kindness?
X6-88: X6 made a disapproving sound when he saw that Sole had been incapacitated by a stray bullet or four.vHe obliterated the remaining enemies before lifting Sole up bridal style. They asked him what in the world he was doing. One of his eyebrows lifting up in question was the only bit of emotion he showed. "I'm obviously taking you back to the institute to get treated." Sole started pushing against his chest, saying that they're not some damsel in distress. X6 sighed. "With all due respect sir/ma'am. Wouldn't it be better to get bullets dug out of you by sterile equipment?" Sole stopped and thought for a moment. "Holy crap, you're right. Well then, what are we waiting for?" X6 muttered a barely audible "We're waiting for you to accept the obvious answer," before calling in a teleport request.
Desdemona: She couldn't believe it. One of her best heavies knocked out on the ground. They fainted because they saw a molerat. Now Des has to make sure that none of the 'savage beats' could attack Sole. A few minutes after Desdemona was done, Sole woke up. Des wasted no time in chewing out Sole, putting emphasis on them needing to get over their molerat phobia.
Maxson: Maxson would be lying if he said that he wasn't scared shitless. What with Sole bleeding on the ground, and him being the only one who could fight against the rest of the gen-1 synths that infested a building near the airport. He long ago told Sole to not get up no matter what. Somehow, he destroyed all of the synths, and let the tension leave his body. Until it came back when he heard Sole's ragged breathing. He spun around and told them to hop on his back. He didn't know a thing about medicine, but people around the airport do. When he arrived, he was dead tired, but he managed a smile when the doctor that took Sole told him that that'd be alright.
Father: He was absolutely mesmerized by Sole's fighting ability. So much so, that he didn't hear Sole's warning. They had to tackle him out of the way, which made them take they blow he was about to receive. He was stunned for a moment, but when he saw that Sole was standing back up with blood running down their face he scrambled back to his feet. "Mother/Father! Let me-" Sole cut him off. "No Shuan. It's my duty as your parent to protect you. Let me." It tore him up to do so, but he obeyed. He never looked up more to his parent than at that very moment.
