#1. Doc draws Mary sooo cool #2. I said this before when discussing the first issue #but I think giving this modernized but classic-inspired Marvel/Shazam family character book technology-based villains #was such an interesting choice #to me the formal way they talk starkly contrasts with the classic vibes of the book #a lot of the Marvel Family’s history is focused on them having a strong association with the Golden Age #obviously Captain Marvel was incredibly popular during the Golden Age then #they weren’t published for about 20 years #and when they were revived they were written to have been in suspended animation and hadn’t changed from their Golden Age portrayal #then in the Post-Crisis reboot that characters from another time feeling was mantained through a magic dome over Fawcett #that kept it trapped in the 50s #Post-New 52 reboot Mary doesn’t feel out of time herself but having her fight technology-based villains stands out also #we know so little about these enemies at this point #but I’m still holding on to the theory that they could be a modernized take on the three faces of evil #dc #marvel family #mary batson #my posts #comic panels
