Best Underrated Anime Group G Round 1: #G2 vs #G7
#G2: Bachelor takes in orphan, and they become a family
Daikichi Kawachi is a 30-year-old bachelor working a respectable job but otherwise wandering aimlessly through life. When his grandfather suddenly passes away, he returns to the family home to pay his respects. Upon arriving at the house, he meets a mysterious young girl named Rin who, to Daikichi’s astonishment, is his grandfather's illegitimate daughter!
The shy and unapproachable girl is deemed an embarrassment to the family, and finds herself ostracized by her father's relatives, all of them refusing to take care of her in the wake of his death. Daikichi, angered by their coldness toward Rin, announces that he will take her in—despite the fact that he is a young, single man with no prior childcare experience.

#G7: A romance between a prince and a herbalist
Shirayuki is a cheerful, red-haired girl living in the country of Tanbarun, and she works diligently as an apothecary at her herbal shop. Her life changes drastically when she is noticed by the silly prince of Tanbarun, Prince Raji, who then tries to force her to become his concubine. Unwilling to give up her freedom, Shirayuki cuts her long red hair and escapes into the forest, where she is rescued by Zen Wistalia, the second prince of a neighboring country, and his two aides. Hoping to repay her debt to the trio someday, Shirayuki sets her sights on pursuing a career as the court herbalist in Zen’s country, Clarines.

#G2: Bunny Drop (Usagi Drop)
youtube
Propaganda:
Usagi Drop is great at showing the ups and downs of raising a child, and it’s so, so soft. It’s a great reminder of what it means to be a family, what it means to be responsible, and what it means to grow up, even after becoming an adult.
Trigger Warnings: None.

#G7: Snow White with the Red Hair (Akagami no Shirayuki-hime)
youtube
Propaganda:
This is my absolute favourite romance anime of all time. The characters are delightful, and the romance is well-paced, with plenty of healthy communication between the two leads. The story never feels boring, managing to pull off both gentle slice of life and exciting adventures with ease. It features gorgeous animation by Studio Bones and a lovely soundtrack.
Trigger Warnings:

I just explained the entire plot of Usagi Drop to my friend who knew nothing of the series, only that the manga ended bad, and when I told her that there was a 10 year time skip she quietly whispered "oh no" because in her heart she knew where this train wreak was headed

After rewatching episode 9, can someone please write a fanfic about how Papa Kazuki and Rej are going to deal with Miri getting a boyfriend?
Even better give me a second season of Buddy Daddies and have it be the version of Bunny Drop we deserved.

Best Underrated Anime Group G Round 2: #G1 vs #G2
#G1: Golf made interesting by the power of anime antics and yuri

#G1: Birdie Wing: Golf Girls’ Story
youtube
Summary:
Infamous among those who gamble on golf games, Eve uses her exceptional skill in the sport to earn a living—by betting and winning against various opponents. Known as the "Rainbow Bullet," she vows to beat her foes and conquer the world of underground golf using only three clubs. However, the universe where Eve knows no defeat is shaken after she plays a clean game with Aoi Amawashi, a golfing prodigy that came to the country of Nafrece to enter a golf tournament. Armed with talent and born into the perfect environment for golf, Aoi the "Innocent Tyrant" calmly crushes her enemies with a bright smile on her face.
After their game-changing match, Eve and Aoi become intrigued with each other and promise to battle again someday. As Eve's aggressive and risk-taking approach challenges the elite and steady playstyle of Aoi, the two geniuses may just manage to bring golf to unexpected heights.
Propaganda:
Birdie Wing is one of the most absurd, hilarious, and entertaining anime that I’ve ever seen!! Mafia that solves infighting by betting on highly illegal golf matches, golf eugenics, a high school golf tournament feeling like a more high-stakes event than the ACTUAL GODDAMN MAFIA… It’s incredibly campy in the best way possible, and the creators embrace the wild premise of the show with open arms. It’s masterful in suspension of disbelief, as by the end of the series I was nodding my head, thinking that truly, everything is possible with the power of golf. The series also has heavy yuri overtones, which, while not quite pulling through in the end, are definitely a big part of the appeal, and Aoi is my favorite lesbian daughter <3
Trigger Warnings: Guns, Child Abuse. Mother is manipulative to her daughter, and she is used as a tool. Father arranges an unwanted marriage for his daughter.

Daikichi, angered by their coldness toward Rin, announces that he will take her in—despite the fact that he is a young, single man with no prior childcare experience. Usagi Drop is the story of Daikichi's journey through fatherhood as he raises Rin with his gentle and affectionate nature, as well as an exploration of the warmth and interdependence that are at the heart of a happy, close-knit family.
Propaganda:
Usagi Drop is great at showing the ups and downs of raising a child, and it’s so, so soft. It’s a great reminder of what it means to be a family, what it means to be responsible, and what it means to grow up, even after becoming an adult.
Trigger Warnings: In the manga, Rin grows up and gets a crush on Daikichi and it becomes a creepy grooming romance between them. Just a fair warning that if you really like the show and check out the manga, that will happen.

Bunny Drop, (also referred to as Usagi Drop or うさぎドロップ), is a slice of life, comedy anime about a single middle aged man named Daikichi Kawachi who suddenly takes on the responsibility of his grandfather's (very young) daughter, Rin Kaga, after his grandfather's death.
The first episode introduces both Daikichi and Rin, wasting absolutely no time at establishing their relationship.
Rin is very quiet and antisocial when she first appears in the show, while Daikichi seems to be very gloomy and lonely. The similarities that they both have in feeling like outcasts in society and the disconnection they have towards their family sets the bond between them immediately, and gives the viewer a fair reason on why a man like Daikichi would suddenly want to adopt Rin out of the blue, while no one else in the family wanted to keep watch of her because of her distant behavior.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the first episode, Rin's personality makes a complete 180 and she suddenly stops being distant and quiet like she was in Episode 1. It appears that the show jumps a little bit in time in Episode 2, which could explain her sudden change in behavior, but I did wish that we'd see a gradual change in her personality instead of just a "time skip" and - wa-la, she's ""normal""! The only time we ever see that cold side of her again is when she meets her relatives for the second time after the funeral, which she gets along with them immediately after meeting again, and another episode where they visit her father's grave, but that's only for a split second before she quickly switches her attitude.
A tornado is introduced later on in the series, which is Rin's mother, who didn't want anything to do with Rin while her father was pretty much the only one taking care of her. Her reason for abandoning Rin can initially be summed up with her just being a lazy mother, who's too busy caring about her job to worry about taking care of her child, but when you look in depth a bit more it becomes a little more complicated then that. In reality, it seems to me that her mother just doesn't know how to love, and is an extremely mentally ill woman who absorbs in her work to avoid caring about anything, including her own child. The mother is a very weird and confusing character, and a lot of times I wonder if she's on anything because of how stranger her behavior is. If you decide to give the anime a try (or you already watched it), then you'll know what I mean by that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The rest of the series is pretty much what you would expect from a slice of life anime, which isn't a bad thing; in fact, I find each episode to be absolutely a joy to watch. The relationship between Daikichi and Rin is an emotional roller coaster, but a roller coaster worth riding (and crying on). The only other two complaints that I have about the anime is the two dad's that gets introduced at the very end and the single mother that gets introduced earlier on in the show. When it comes to the dads, I wish they were introduced earlier in the show because I would've loved to see more of them and their interactions/influence on Daikichi. As for the single mother, I wish we would've seen some kind of "lovey-dovey" moments between Daikichi and her in the show, but instead it's just very passive flirting-
-but then again, there's "specials," or OVA's, and a whole manga as well, so I assume (or I hope) that they elaborated more on my criticisms that I have about the show or added on to anything that I might've been confused about.
Wait a minute...
Tumblr media
Actually, the manga shouldn't even exist.
Tumblr media
Overall, I'll give this anime an 7/10. I highly recommend anyone who's into lighthearted and emotional slice of life anime, anime centered around a parent-child relationship, or anyone who's into single dads to watch this show, it's definitely a niche must-watch!
