I think about this audition more than what is considered normal, I think. I like to wonder what SuBo was thinking the night before or as all those people started chuckling in the audience.
One moment that has stuck with me since the first time I saw it is at the 1:27 timestamp, when she smiles before singing. I have always wondered what was going through her head then. I like to think that she is smiling because she knows she has waited her entire life for this moment and she is about to blow everyone’s fucking mind. Like, you know she knows she’s good. You also know that she probably has never been truly been taken seriously before, and knows that they can’t ignore her after she starts to sing. This moment is only made better by the nod she does at 3:23 before singing the last few lines. She KNOWS. She fucking KNOWS that she nailed it. She did exactly what she came to do, which is shut up every person who has even not taken her seriously before. That’s why she goes to walk off at first, because honestly, that moment is enough.
Though the whole getting to the finals and being one of the most memorable and successful acts to come from BGT is a pretty close second. 😉

really annoys me when someone who already has a career goes on a talent show.
like. this woman who sung on the Greatest Showman soundtrack is on Britain’s Got Talent… yeah, she’s a decent singer, but she shouldn’t be taking the place who hasn’t had a shot at showbiz yet.
and this is not the only time. comedians who have already won awards. dancers who have already won awards. whatever.
the point of talent shows shouldn’t be the fucking performing arts Olympics. it should be to give people a chance to shine who haven’t had the opportunity yet. for uplifting hidden talents. it just doesn’t feel fair to pit a self-taught artist against someone who is already famous.

Amanda Holden reunites with midwife who saved her life on Britain’s Got Talent
Amanda Holden was in tears on Britain’s Got Talent as she was reunited with a midwife who saved her life when she almost died during childbirth. The presenter was visibly emotional during a one-off special episode when magician Richard Jones, who won the 2016 series, brought Pippa Nightingale on stage. Holden said that the midwife delivered her baby and “saved her life.” She previously revealed…

my favourite bit of pop culture trivia is that Natalie Holt (composer of the Loki TV soundtrack) threw eggs at Simon Cowell that one time

bonus: This is the only correct way to respond - propose marriage on the spot (i don't know what I would do if Noel Fielding proposed to me, pass out probably)

pet peeve is when judges on a competition show tell every third person “I could see you winning this show” as if there could possibly be that many winners

I'm honestly not quite sure how to feel about the new Doctor Who season.
It is waaaay too high budget. The stories are just as weird and unhinged as ever. It feels like it has something to say. The marketing is trying to sell it as this new era. It really is not. It feels like there was a major break somewhere. The exact same people are working on it as they did over a decade ago. It feels like they have something to say. The Doctor is Black now and the show is more outspoken queer / queer friendly. It feels like Chibnall's era had more people of color in it. It is using the same stupid tired tropes as it has for almost twenty years now. I just want to go back to exploring alien planets that all look like the British countryside. The Doctor keeps reminding us of how incredibly special he is even among Time Lords and Ruby is A Mystery To Solve. On one hand it has an outspoken pro-adoption and chosen family message, on the other Ruby's birth mother is going to be Important™. I just want them to have fun adventures in a quarry.
And none of this matters, because you could find this kind of joy and whimsy only in Doctor Who and Legends of Tomorrow, and Legends got cancelled for being too queer.
