The fun part is that up to this moment I thought that the Bravelands baboons were Chacma Baboons, 'couse I always imagine that they where smaller and cinda scrawnyer. Buuuuut then looking for a good reference I faid out that Chacma baboons don't live in forests :')

Started re-reading Bravelands recently so here's Swift and Valor. I have…mixed opinions on Swift, but I do like Valor a lot. I also feel that with this image I'm somewhat improving on my lions, I'm actually kind of pleased with how this came out for once.

(forgot to post this here sorry) so hard being the only bravelands fan on earth 💔💔 seriously though it’s so heartbreaking to read a book with so much potential and have absolutely no fan content of it despite how much insane potential there is to make even angstier animatics than the existing wc ones. so many wc fans pass bravelands up because “it can’t be as good as warriors”. like yeah it isn’t. admittedly, it is better. the pacing is better, the characters have some level of depth, it doesn’t just follow one group and their incredibly repetitive “child has a vision of a prophecy and has to save the clans” storyline (I promise I’m a massive warriors fan but come on it’s flawed guys) and dude this book is sooooo much more intense. I haven’t listened to it on audible once without tensing every muscle in my body and tearing up. READ. IT. also sorry for not coloring the lineart I got lazy.

Book name: Bravelands Author: Erin Hunter

The Bravelands books absolutely aren't the end-all-be-all of disability representation (I mean just look at what they did to poor Fleet) but it is nice to see that nobody treats Skullcracker as any lesser because of their broken jaw. Maybe that's just an intrinsic part of Bravelands hyena culture (they seem to be very death-positive as well) but it's nice, more than I could say for poor Crookedstar in Warriors, another Erin Hunter series.

I know they're canonically female but I headcanon them to be non-binary! They just happened to have worked themself up to the high ranks of the females.

Outcast from po3 has really fantastic cover art for how disappointing the actual book is. I know because I checked it out after I took this photo. Respect the mid-arc slog I guess.

I wonder if Warriors main-line arcs will ever return to having a single protagonist, or a different protagonist each book.

TBP had only one protag (firestar) and TNP has a different protag each book except for Brambleclaw and Leafpool who return. But the trio of protagonists concept from POT really seems to have stuck around for future arcs, not just in Warriors but also their other series like Seekers, Bamboo Kingdom and Bravelands which all feature a trio of protags per arc. Survivors is the only series to only have a single protag for both arcs. Just thought it's interesting lol

I know it's fatphobia but I never understood the "fat = lazy and unfit for wild life" in Erin Hunter books.

It's been discussed a lot in Warriors discourse but it's their other books too, like in The Bravelands, the bad lioness was lazy, let others hunt for her, and so gained a bunch of weight so that her main physical trait was being fat.

It's bad on it's own that the bad guy is the only fat one (that I remember, it's been a long time since I read the whole book, short time since I read the part with the lioness).

but my main point is that....they are wild animals. They have to work to survive every day. In TB, they're lucky if they go to sleep with a full belly. You know what being fat would be in that world? Peak performance.

Erin Hunter themselves is piloting it like a mech suit.

Oh Shimmer, if only you didn't get fridged. I honestly quite liked her as a character up until that point.

Decided to make her a king cheetah because the books describe her spots to be particularly dark and distinct. She's never explicitly stated to be a king, but I like the idea because it matches that description pretty well.
