what is a unique trait / identity you've added to your wol's class/job? any special skills, weapons combined with other classes, or just a visual flair? talk to me about cool job lore 👀👀 (protractions on twitter)

Kai knew how to use a bow when she left home due to her clan's lifestyle, but she went to the archer's guild in Gridania just to see what it was about. She got through fine, although she encouraged Leih to leave if she didn't want to stay. Afterwards however she didn't go BRD. It wasn't until she picked up Azem's crystal on the first that she inherited Azem's greatbow and knowledge and became the first (and only) Sniper since the Sundering. (Huge range, basically a bowmage, I just love FFTA uwu)

what kind of drunk is your wol? if they don't drink, how do they take care of their friends who do? (protractions)

Kai: very quiet, seems completely sober, still very competent, then you'll realize you haven't seen her for an hour and she'll be passed out in a corner somewhere

Yuki: affectionate, cuddly, that one girl in the bathroom you've never met but who would ride or die for you

Twi and Punch: loud, happy, even more ready to get into a good natured brawl than usual

Tiny: quiet but happy, very chill, always has snacks

Negi: rarely gets drunk, good at wrangling the others, will make a big batch of food like fried rice or pasta, makes sure they drink water

What's something that your WOL/OC does to prepare for an adventure? A simple, but fun #wolqotd (WildeFFXIV)

Kai: doesn't. she's always ready for adventure, not in a 'prepared' way, but more of a 'fuck it, we ball' way

Yuki: takes a nice long soak in a bath/hot spring, along with scale maintenance in case conditions are rough on the road

Punch: The usual routine of work out, eat, sleep

Twi: also doesn't prepare, either at the pub having a good time or out fighting something

Tiny: makes sure all her things are ready, packs a nice lunch

Negi: either taking a walk or meditating, but always somewhere quiet

I can’t pick just one for this - I equally enjoy Bard and Red Mage.

I mained Bard on my first character, all through ARR and the 2.0 series. When they turned Bard into bowmage in Heavensward, I just couldn’t handle the loss of mobility, and gave up the Bard life. I kinda floundered around looking for a new main job...

Which I only found when Red Mage came in Stormblood. Red Mage has been a favorite Final Fantasy job since FF1, so when I tried it out, I found it to be exactly what I wanted in a low-stress DPS job that made sense to me. While I did level Bard to 70 on my main, I was too taken with Red Mage to pay much attention to how it was improved during Stormblood.

...Until I started RPing Amon last year. I picked up playing Bard for him again, and found that I really like what they’ve done with the job. So now, I’m playing Red Mage on my main and Bard on Amon (though I also leveled Red Mage for his magic job).

Your favorite (currently available) job

Bard! Mimi started as an Archer when I first leveled her old red-haired version and Bard was always the first class I put at max level. I enjoyed the highly mobile bard at ARR, I also enjoyed the bowmage with castbar and I am enjoying the Stormblood bard as well. Each version did have their appeal to me and so I am looking forward to the Shadowbringers bard.

Aside from Bard I also enjoyed tanking as Paladin and healing as a White Mage. So these might be considered my main classes up until now.

probably yeah

the most optimistic scenario i can muster is still that squeenix is waiting for the job to drop before taking any official cricitism, and that any steps towards integrating blue mage with standard jobs will happen at 5.5 at the earliest (6.0 if i’m being realistic)

in terms of how jobs perform, squeenix almost never reworks a job until it’s time to rework all of them. that’s why bard was a bowmage for all of 3.0 and why machinists and white mages’, frankly, reasonable complaints about 4.0 are still unsolved, despite those complaints existing since before 4.0 dropped
