The Beatles
Great Essence (part 2)
#book "Balloon. Aeronauts and artifacts - Boris Grebenshchikov"
For the rest of their lives, each of them gave the impression of a man who flew too close to the stars and returned to earth burned – but saw something that people had never seen.
And we all listened to them from afar, in different parts of the World – as if we were looking at the receding lights of a flying saucer.
We felt that someone was saying goodbye to us. How they sang themselves (most likely, having no idea why such words were chosen):
"Once upon a time there was a way to return home..."
The end has come.
And at the end of the very last song they recorded for their most recent album, they summed it up:
And in the end, the Love you accept is equal to the love you create.
That's such a fairy tale. But this tale is not sad at all.
This has become part of the genetic code of humanity and remains with us. Their music has changed life on earth. And since then, the doors have been reopened, and to enter them, you only need to want to.
And – "I do not know why you say goodbye, I say hello."

Beatles after the Beatles.
Tumblr media
When the Beatles ceased to exist as a united front in 1969, the nations held their breath, waiting to see what the artists would do now, left alone. Yes, the Beatles were significantly more than the sum of the parts, and – being the voice of nature and time – they promptly left. They left together with the magic ray that shed its light on Great Britain in the 60s. As Philip Larkin said
(Philip Arthur Larkin (1922-1985) – British poet, writer and jazz critic.)
"When you get to the top, there's nowhere to go from there except down. But the Beatles couldn't go down."
The magical long-haired kings of the Golden Age became four ordinary people. But the magic of their music has not disappeared.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the breakup of the band in 1969, all four of its members quickly released an album each. Most of all, George Harrison surprised critics – when he was a Beatles guitarist, he always remained a little in the shadows; Lennon and McCartney considered him to be the youngest, did not treat him very seriously and reluctantly put his songs on albums. Having become independent, George turned around with all his might and right in 1969 released as much as a triple album "All Things Must Pass". It has been three years since he became deeply immersed in Indian philosophy, and, being free from the Beatles, he suddenly bloomed like a rose on which the rays of the sun fell. And he began to broadcast this solar energy to all of us.
And his colleagues began to get what they lacked in terms of employment during their service in the long–suffering team.
John Lennon (who, in fact, once founded this band, and then broke it up) Back in 1968, at the London exhibition, he met the Japanese avant-garde artist Yoko Ono, and she taught him the mind. He suddenly realized that besides the Beatles, there are other values in the world, and another art, there is something else, and he went all out, because he never did anything by halves.
Having recorded together with Yoko several sound collages that were not too popular with the people, he assembled a virtual plastic ono Band and recorded a simple and strong album "John Lennon – Plastic Ono Tape".
The song is beautiful. But there are problems with There were a lot of John and Yoko, because the young couple was so desperate to make themselves known that there wasn't a week that they didn't get on the pages of the newspapers with some kind of prank. And very soon the British press hounded them so that they moved to New York. But even there they began to actively participate in all local guerrilla gatherings and were quickly taken under surveillance by local state security agencies. John was locked up in America – if he had left there even for a day, they would not have let him back in.
Well and Paul McCartney, accused by the world of all sins, including the collapse of the Beatles (although he was the one who tried his best to keep the band afloat), around the same time met the girl of his dreams – photographer Linda Eastman.
Tumblr media
As opposed to He did not seek to arrange constant happenings with John and Yoko – on the contrary, he even grew a beard in order to walk the streets unnoticed. Linda did not strive for fame either, she offered her fragile shoulder to him and offered to go to the village.

In the village, Paul, furnished with all the instruments (after all, at first he was the lead guitarist of the Beatles, Ringo always resented him for the fact that Paul taught him how to play the drums, he could play the piano since childhood, and as for playing the bass, Jimi Hendrix sincerely called him the best bass player in rock and roll), so: Paul single-handedly recorded an album with the original name "McCartney", praising what he always It was best to sing the praises of home warmth, peace and comfort.
Tumblr media
We must give Paul his due: he has talent (as well as John) did not decrease. And although he undoubtedly became much more pop without the help of old friends, from time to time he managed to write masterpieces.

The Beatles
Great Essence (part 6)
Paul McCartney
Tumblr media
It happens like this: a genius will write, but he does not know what he wrote. Here's a guy who wrote a song in his youth, then ten years later recorded it with a group of friends: a song about what will happen when he turns sixty-four.
And after all, I looked into the water: on June 18, 2006, the whole world celebrated the sixty–fourth birthday of the author of "When I'm 64", one of the greatest composers of the XX century - Paul McCartney
T. S. Eliot once said, "When a great poet writes about himself, he writes about his time."
Based on this, Paul McCartney redeemed the last century. In the coming times, people will ask: what was it like, this very XX century? And when they hear Paul's music, they will give the answer themselves: yes, those were blessed times when the Light of God shone over the earth.
For a very long time, it was customary among enlightened rock fans to disown Paul McCartney, they say, is a sweet boy, writes sugary music, no match for the good John. And then it gradually turned out that Paul McCartney was the source of most of the innovations that we love the Beatles for.
Tumblr media
It was he who wandered through fashionable clubs and avant–garde concerts in London, while John languished from the family comfort in rural Weybridge, and it was Paul who largely determined the direction of the three best Beatles albums - "Revolver", "Sergeant. Pepper, the Lonely Hearts Club band" and "A Magical Mysterious Journey".
Tumblr media
Therefore, without underestimating John's merits in the least, let's pay tribute to Paul
James Paul McCartney was born on June 18, 1942 at Walton Hospital in the northern part of Liverpool. He is Irish on his mother's and father's sides. His father, Jim McCartney, was the leader of a dance orchestra and gave his son a trumpet. At the age of fourteen, Paul traded it for a guitar, which is still lying somewhere in his house.
He soon became known around the world as the bassist, guitarist, pianist, singer and songwriter of the Beatles.
The Guinness Book of World Records named Paul McCartney the most successful composer in the history of popular music. (I wonder, by the way, who is the most successful composer in the history of unpopular music?) He has twenty-nine number one songs and more than fifty songs in the top ten, which is significantly more than any other author. But all these are dry statistics, and we are in Russia is used to not trust numbers too much. Music is another matter. No man in the world has ever written or sung about love as much as Paul McCartney.
Tumblr media
And in life, he was the last bachelor in the ranks of the Beatles, but after marrying Linda McCartney in 1971, he did not part with her until her death in 1998. (As mentioned here, in order to be together all the time, Paul taught her to sing and play the keys.)
It is known that in the last days of the Beatles, Paul always wanted to return to concerts (let me remind you that the Beatles stopped playing concerts in 1966 and never performed in public until the end of their existence, with the exception of one concert played on a London rooftop for the film "Let It Be").
So, when the Beatles broke up, Paul put together the Wings band, with Linda (despite her protests) at the keys, and went on tour with Wings again. To avoid their superstar halo, Paul, Linda and Wings simply drove around England in a van, stopped at any place they liked, and went to the club to arrange a concert for that evening. You can imagine the surprise of local music lovers: you come, like, to a pub, and there Paul McCartney is playing.
Tumblr media
As a result, Wings became one of the most popular bands of the 70s
Paul McCartney – «My Baby’s Request»
It is said that Paul's song "Yesterday" is the song that other artists are most willing to perform (there are more than three thousand different versions). In general, this is the most popular song in the world – in America alone it has been broadcast on the radio more than six million times. Paul gathered the largest audience in the world – one hundred and eighty-four thousand people in Rio de Janeiro in April 1990. And in Australia in 1993, twenty thousand tickets to his concert were sold in a record eight minutes. This list can go on for a long time.
Tumblr media
The sages say: "When a real musician plays, he forgets about himself and dissolves into the music."
Paul McCartney's creative life has not faded since the late 70s. The Wings group ceased to exist in 1980, but throughout the 80s, 90s and to this day, Paul continues to write, sing, and constantly move around the world with concert tours, one more grandiose than the other. And it would seem that what else does a person need? He's probably already the richest musician in the world. But it seems he's not doing it for the money at all. He just loves to sing
.When McCartney played on the Palace Square in In St. Petersburg, to be honest, I wasn't really going to go. I'm not a fan of big concerts, small clubs are always nicer to me. And square concerts for me are not music, but a kind of mass ritual in which I personally do not want to take part.
But it was also difficult to refuse. As a result, I struggled through crowds and cordons for an insanely long time and still got there. And it was raining. Out of great respect, they put me not far from the stage on a plastic chair, with my back in a puddle. From this puddle, I actually watched what was happening – of course, without particularly positive emotions. This and that, the rain slowly stopped, the clouds began to disperse, and then the Floor sang "For No One", and suddenly the sun came out and illuminated it. And then I feel that all my prejudices have disappeared somewhere, something fundamental is happening.
Tumblr media
When I listen to "For No One", I realize that everything that can be said about this music will be empty words. These songs and these voices have always sounded and will always sound in some kind of superstellar space; sometimes we manage to really hear them. And our fragmented life at this moment becomes one Divine truth.
I can't help but repeat: after all, we are incredibly lucky that we live in an era when this music was heard, and we still walk the same earth with the people who created it.
Paul's songs taught me love, and that love still rings in my heart.

The Beatles
Great Essence (part 5)
#book "Balloon. Aeronauts and artifacts - Boris Grebenshchikov"
John Lennon
Tumblr media
In fact, the Beatles began with John Lennon. His mother, whom he doted on, died when he was just a child, and this tragedy left its mark on his entire life. He found salvation in rock and roll. He said, "Rock and roll was real, and everything else was fake."
Lennon and McCartney met on July 6, 1957, at a school party at St. John's Church. Peter was in Liverpool, where sixteen–year-old John's band, The Quarrymen, performed.
Tumblr media
John was impressed that Paul knew a lot of chords and could tune a guitar, and decided to take him into the band. It was a historic and magnificent decision. That's how the best duet in the history of music was born
This song was of great importance to John – he even planned to re-record it after leaving the Beatles (although, of course, he was not up to it). To me, the 1963 recording is as perfect as a piece of music can be.
Tumblr media
At that time, Lennon and McCartney really wrote songs together, somewhere in a hotel room after a concert; they took guitars and played, spurring and helping each other - I must say, the ideal way to create songs. That's what groups are for, because when a person writes songs alone, he can get carried away, and when friends are around, they can always put their shoulder up, insert a chord or two, or laugh at an unsuccessful line; you see, another ship is ready for a big voyage.
Tumblr media
And John and Paul's ships (with George's help) turned out to be extremely successful.
In April '66, John Lennon once again launched an epochal manifesto. The Beatles gave up concerts and went into the studio. And the very first song of this new period, "Tomorrow Never Knows", marked the beginning of a new revolution in music and brought the Beatles from the state of girlish idols to the position of prophets or gods.
The song is based on the text of the Tibetan Book of the Dead, revised by the guru of the "psychedelic revolution" Timothy Leary. Lennon even wanted the Dalai Lama to sing the second half of the song with a thousand Tibetan monks on a mountain peak – but the technical implementation of this idea was a bit problematic, so John had to sing himself.
As a sound event, this song was unprecedented. As a philosophical statement, clever critics said that this song challenged not only seven centuries of European musical culture, but also the basic tenets of Western civilization. And all this in three minutes.
For most people, a song like "Tomorrow Never Knows" would be enough to stay in history forever. But six months later, Lennon was again ahead of the entire planet, creating what was (and will be) considered for many decades to be "the best record in the history of rock and roll." Even George Martin, the Beatles producer, usually modest and laconic, called it "a tonal poem – something like a modern Debussy."
No one living on earth has ever managed to create something in which feeling and fantasy would be expressed so directly, spontaneously and originally as in "Strawberry Fields Forever".
Lennon said that he had always dreamed of writing his own Alice in Wonderland, but with the songs of 1966-1969 he did much more – he created a door to a new universe. This door is still open, and anyone who really wants to can enter there.
Tumblr media
Another song that John himself considered one of his best is "Happiness Is A Warm Gun". Critics often discussed it, wondered about its meaning and delved into the intricacies of the recording… Let's leave it to the critics, let them indulge. John speaks the language of the heart, incomprehensible to rational consciousness.
And then the Beatles ended along with the era that gave them birth and gave them Divine wings. Lennon felt it most acutely and was eager to move on. Meeting Yoko Ono gave him the necessary determination to move on, no matter what. And then he said that the Beatles were a dream, that he no longer believed in them, but believed only in himself – in Yoko and in himself
 «…I don,t believe in Beatles / I just believe in me / Yoko and me – / and that,s reality» Lennon «God»).
And here's another story. Since childhood, Lennon has been a fan of the mad American producer Phil Spector, who in many ways created the sound of rock and roll in the form that John liked and loved. Already being one of the Beatles, John had the opportunity to get to know him directly and, when the Beatles were left behind, first instructed him to finish their final album "Let It Be" (which was probably still a mistake), and then began working with Phil himself - and Spector's approach, direct and uncompromising, He decorated several of John's outstanding solo songs, for example, "Instant Karma" ("Instant Karma") – the blood is boiling!
Tumblr media
"I'm not a cynic. They are wrong to judge me by some things that I have written or said. But you can't do that. I hate labels. I'm a little cynical, but I'm not a cynic. Sometimes today you are teasing, tomorrow you are a cynic, and the day after tomorrow you treat everything with irony. I'm a cynic about most of what people take for granted. I am a cynic in everything that concerns society, politics, newspapers, government. But I am not cynical about life, love, kindness, and death. That's why I don't like being called a cynic."
In 1980, John died. The music he wrote remained beyond age, beyond time. And, no matter what gossipy journalists wrote, the former Beatles members were connected by something much more than just friendship. And maybe what was not said in life was translated into songs.
George dedicated the song "All Those Years Ago" to John, which united the three remaining members of the Beatles for the first time in ten years. In this song, George said something that he probably never said to John personally: "You were the one who said that all we needed was love, back then, many years ago."
And Paul wrote the song "Here Today" with these words: "If I said that I knew you well, what would you say if you were here today? You would probably laugh and say that we lived in different worlds… But as for me, I can't hold back my tears anymore. You always had a smile in store for me, and I loved you and am happy that you appeared in my life."
Tumblr media
John and Sean
As I have already written, fourteen years after John Lennon's death, the three surviving members of the Beatles teamed up once again to finalize a recording made by John in 1977 at his home in New York. A virtual reunion in the digital world.
They approached the matter as if John had gone on vacation and left them half-finished songs with a request to finish them. And the recording is really strange, the voice sounds like a message from another world for us today. And you know, when it comes to the Beatles, standing in the sunlight of John's voice, I myself am almost ready to believe in any mysticism – it seems that "Free As A Bird" was originally intended for this... But on the other hand, there have been stranger stories in Tibet.
Beatles – «Free As A Bird».....

The Beatles
Great Essence (part 4)
#book "Balloon. Aeronauts and artifacts - Boris Grebenshchikov"
George Harrison
Tumblr media
Although the physical body of the singer and musician, Beatles guitarist George Harrison is no longer with us and his ashes are scattered somewhere over Ganga, his spirit is always with us, as well as his songs. I think I personally owe him a lot, which I appreciate in my life, George turned out to be a teacher for me. For me, his songs are filled with sunlight.
He was called a "Quiet Beatle", but sometimes he wrote songs even more fantastic than the songs of his great colleagues.
Tumblr media
Paul McCartney brought him into the future award-winning band when George was not even fourteen years old, and the rest of the Beatles immediately began exploiting child labor with gusto. However, very soon George showed that he could do something else besides playing well-honed guitar parts.
His first songs were just wonderful and simple, but on the set of the movie "Help!" George found a sitar lying in a pile of props and became interested in an exotic stringed instrument. And it had to happen that his wife Patti took him to a lecture by some Indian guru just a few days later. There was a chain reaction, the doors to the East opened. And George's music suddenly moved into a new dimension.
As the folk song says, "being a Beatle is a big deal." Everything you do immediately becomes a part of the lives of millions of people. Every word and every note is perceived as a revelation. And that's why you can't create anything but absolute perfection. George did not disappoint.
Tumblr media
By mixing East and West, he received an unprecedented synthesis – a new and lively path to the future.
In 1970, the Beatles went their separate ways. Each of the participants has released a solo album. But while Paul sang about flowers and sheep, John attacked Paul, and Ringo tried to reconcile them, George, who was drawn to the wisdom of the East, immediately took the bull by the horns and asked: "What is Life?" The general public appreciated the depth of the artist's search, and the triple album "All Things Must Pass" was recognized as the most successful of all post-Beatles records.
Tumblr media
One day to George was visited by his friend and teacher Ravi Shankar and told him about the disasters of the Indian people. Sensitive George responded and immediately wrote the song "Bangladesh". But after thinking it over carefully, I decided that this was not enough. Why don't all his friends get together and play a concert, all the proceeds from which would go to this very Bangladesh? Said and done. However, at the last moment it turned out that Paul won't be there, and John refused to play without Yoko (whose singing often scared people unaccustomed to him), but this shortcoming was compensated by the participation of Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan and other wonderful people.
Concerts to help the hungry in Bangladesh were a success, and George turned out to be the godfather of all subsequent charity concerts, like Live Aid; thus proving that a musician can not only sing, but also really help people in need.
Tumblr media
George and Ravi Shankar
Having proved this, he continued to do what he loved – playing guitar and writing songs
In my youth, every new year began in our company with the fact that, waking up on the morning of the first of January, we always put Harrison on – as if this was a guarantee that the year would go right.
Maybe that's how it turned out. Actually, there was a slightly different attitude towards music back then.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
George and Derek Taylor, Apple
Moving from one apartment to another consisted mainly of transporting a tape recorder with speakers, other things, as a rule, were extremely few. The tape recorder was the heart of any home. I remember seeing someone's things on the street, put up for transportation to a new place, we were amazed at the lack of a device for playing music. It was completely incomprehensible to us, we decided that people were probably sick. You can live without clothes and without a bed, but how can you live without music?
You know, I think we were right.
And Harrison's music has always been different from all other music. George never went for banal harmonic solutions – he always has a chord or two in his songs, which you don't expect at all. But as soon as these chords are played, you realize that without them the song will turn into banality. Even John Lennon said that when he got stuck writing a new song, he always turned to To George. He would give him some unexpected harmonic twist, a strange chord, and the song would take on a face.
But this is not the main thing – you can work on a song for years, build a whole tower of Babel, and still stop the car. What George wrote and sang was always full of some kind of inner light, as if he was from another, correct, planet Earth - and his music helped us to see the right world around us.
Tumblr media
I was lucky enough to know him a little personally, and I confirm that his love for India was true and deep, for life. George has shown not only with music, but also with his whole life that between the West and There is no abyss in the East – the whole abyss is only in our own mind. You have to be able to do this: write songs about the love of God, fashionable songs, famous songs – and such that you understand how he feels.
Sometimes I even want to quote the classics and say: "I owe all the best that is in me to George"
While still a Beatle, George bought himself a huge old house under London, in Henley-on-Thames, and retired there to live – away from the London crowd. He lived there for the rest of his life – not counting trips to another house, in Hawaii. He was very hospitable–to friends; to the rest of the world he was a hermit, an anchorite, a gardener. At home, he did gardening and music. His son Dhani says, "We are all wandering in the maze like experimental mice, and the father seemed to clearly see where he was going."
His last video was very simple: good musicians are sitting and playing an old song from the 30s. And all with such dignity and pleasure that it's just a sight to see. But then the camera cuts to George himself – and suddenly it takes your breath away: such elegant carelessness, such simplicity – you realize that you are in the presence of God.
He generally gave off the feeling that he was where none of us were, as if burned by the light of the stars.
And in this video, he has a slight smile on his face, as if both he and we, those who are watching this, are just playing at being human, but we know that this is a joke.
And you know what, I agree with him.

The Beatles
Great Essence (part 3)
#book "Balloon. Aeronauts and artifacts - Boris Grebenshchikov"
Tumblr media
While the others quarreled and cast a shadow over the fence, Ringo, unpretentious as a rake, turned out to be the most normal of the four: he continued to remain friendly with all his colleagues, played with John, then with George and, to the best of his ability, like Leopold the cat, tried to reconcile everyone.
Tumblr media
Ringo is the epitome of common sense (no wonder he was the first to flee India when the Beatles fell at the feet of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in search of immediate enlightenment), but it is common sense that tells us that since the world was created by God, it means that everything will always be all right with this world.
Life went on.
George Harrison bought himself a huge old manor Friar Park in an hour and a half drive from London, built a studio in it and recorded there with friends for many years, since anyone would be honored to play with George. In his spare time, he sometimes talked with racing friends, then went to India to visit his older friend and teacher Ravi Shankar, the great genius of Indian music, and continued to play the guitar, improving more and more in his chosen art.
Tumblr media
Paul, who always aspired to constantly playing music in public, assembled the Wings group (in order not to part with his wife, he taught her to play the keys and sing, after which she became a full member of the group) and embarked on a constant tour. As the Hindus say, you can't hide Shiva in a bag (in this case, musical talent). McCartney soon achieved great success with the Wings band and was generally recognized as the most successful composer of the 20th century.
Tumblr media
With or without Wings, he was and remains a genius, and even when his well–developed professional charisma does not allow us to find out what he really is, that's not the point, in general. His voice remains with us, which has brought and continues to bring us light, warmth and happiness. Paul is really the only one in the world. You and I are lucky.
Even George (who, generally speaking, hadn't really liked Paul since the Beatles, because Paul always got into his guitar parts) I really liked this song.
So: while George continued to sit in the Friar Park studio and hone the art of songwriting and playing guitar, while Paul moved from the stadium to an even bigger stadium, regularly recording new albums, John Lennon stayed at home with his wife.
Having been a Maoist, a fighter for women's rights, and generally a fighter for everything in the world, he got tired of it. He sat there, he sat, but one day he couldn't stand it and ran away. As Dylan sang, sometimes a man has to be alone. Or, as another author said, "when Serega's carving breaks off"The thread in this case was seriously torn off, for a year and a half.
Tumblr media
Linda and Paul
Tumblr media
Unable to withstand the annoying comfort of home, John ran away from Yoko and went to Los Angeles like a bachelor to record an album of old rock and rolls - well, he came off in full, so in the annals this time (74-75 years) is marked as a "lost weekend". It's really difficult to call him lost, because, in addition to the promised old rock and rolls, John also recorded the brilliant album "Walls And Bridges".
So, it so happened that it was at this very time that Paul was recording the album "Venus And Mars" in nearby New Orleans. John found out about this and was about to go there, and even notified his friends about it, but then Yoko Ono (who had not loved Paul too much since the old days) appeared on the horizon again. Yoko took control of everything again, and the possible reunion of two old genius friends - alas! – it did not take place. It's a pity.
On the other hand, as Lev Aslan from The Chronicles of Narnia said, "no one knows what would have happened if."
Ceasing to exist as The Beatles, these four have found their own independent voices, but with the old interstellar resonance. It turns out that you believe them more than you believe yourself. They say what our heart would like to say.
John was and will always remain the voice of truth, Ringo stands with two feet on the ground, George always reminds us of something higher, and Paul is the spirit of peace and comfort, he says how Ecclesiastes: "And I learned that there is nothing better for a man on earth than to eat, drink and have fun."
Tumblr media
Somehow I'm doing it all very smoothly. But it wasn't always smooth. Despite the divinity of the music, they are all absolutely normal people, who just at some point soared as high as no other person on Earth has ever flown. And how Icarus, burned by proximity to the sun – it will remain in them forever.
There is a cosmic note in the voice of each of them, in their best songs, as if they have seen and know something that none of the living knew. Or rather, we all know, but we have forgotten, and they are trying to awaken this knowledge of ours – and something in us is fascinated by listening to these voices from the true homeland, and something in us knows that this is exactly the truth.
Tumblr media
Time passed. In 1980, John Lennon died. Timid hopes that the Beatles would ever reunite –well, at least for one song – turned to dust. Well, maybe it's for the best. It's a pity, of course, but that's the way it is. What they have done, one way or another, remains with us forever. They said everything that was necessary, it would be pointless to repeat it every year.
Tumblr media
And in the solo albums of each of them, this sunbeam of that incomprehensible supreme truth, forgotten by us, flashes here and there. And the more time passed, the clearer it became how unique they were.
We were lucky – we lived on earth at the same time as the Titans.
And the Beatles reunion did happen. It's strange – but very simple. Fourteen years after Lennon's death, Yoko Ono gave three former Beatles three of John's songs, recorded by him in the late 70s to the accompaniment of a piano on a home tape recorder. The recordings have been restored, and two of them were arranged and completed by Paul, George and Ringo in 1994
And these recordings came out completely mystical – you listen, and your heart flutters: as if there is something in them that the Beatles did not have time to do while everyone was alive and well.

The Beatles
Great Essence (part 1)
#book "Balloon. Aeronauts and artifacts - Boris Grebenshchikov"
Tumblr media
I think I'll tell you a story.
There were very young boys in a provincial dirty gray city, and it turned out that they fell in love with music and came together to play it. And since they didn't know any other words and concepts where they lived, at first they just wanted to become rich and famous and sang all the songs that were supposed to be sung for this. And the songs, of course, were about love.
Tumblr media
At first they sang other people's songs, then they began to write themselves, taking as a model what they had played before. But from time to time, lines suddenly appeared in their songs, as if from a completely different text, obscure in the context of pop music:
There is a place where I can go when I feel bad., – This is my mind, and there is no time there; When I'm alone, I think about You. – Because I only love You.
In all other respects, they were the same as everyone else; they just differed from all their colleagues in one thing – they had so much music in them that there was no place for cynicism, God forbid. All the others played songs on the stage and pretended that they were already stars; these themselves became what they sang; others sang words and notes – these songs had meaning.
The amount of love and strength they put into their music made this music necessary for everyone. They became known all over the earth, and young children in all parts of the planet, who did not understand what was happening, felt that this was the most important thing.
Tumblr media
What was happening, oddly enough, was this. Since the time of Johann Sebastian Bach, the concept of the Divine began to leave European music, and although composers continued to write church music, for most people God turned from the reality of life into a philosophical concept. However, God reminds of himself when (as it is said in ancient books) "contradictions arise in the understanding of truth and people begin to lean towards materialism." And it is necessary to remind us of what we live for on Earth. But why does it happen this way every time, and not in any other way - how can I answer?
Tumblr media
The music of our heroes became more and more popular, energy and love flocked to them from all over the world, and – as in the movie "Star Wars" – something descended on them that began to guide them unmistakably. They began to sing as "having power":
Say the word and you will be free, Say the word and you will become like me, Say the word I'm thinking of, It is as subtle as sunlight, Don't you know that's the word "love". At first I didn't understand, But now I know: this word is good; Now I know I'm right., And I have to show the light to the whole world. Give the word a chance to be said, This word is the way; this one word is love.
And it was not at all about the love that they sang about at first.
But to say that there are more and higher words, it was necessary to invent a new form of music, sing in a different way, play in a different way, work with other, hitherto unheard-of sounds. They began to do this, and a new space opened up in front of them, and the Force supported them and allowed them to rise higher and go deeper.
Tumblr media
By 1966, they proved to be both the most popular and the most experimental musical group on earth. It is a fantastic feeling, as if you are flying on the crest of a wave; truly, "this is how the young gods play." And our heroes were not alone – a tsunami followed them, changing the music and mood of the entire XX century. Isn't that what William Blake said:
"Albion Island is a land where the spirit will descend; Albion has enlightened the world before and will enlighten again; the ancient quest can be resumed." That's exactly what happened.
A painting by Christian Johannes Ripenhausen "A Virgin from Another Country" hangs in the Pushkin Museum in Moscow. There is indeed a virgin painted there, with her eyes fixed somewhere far away, surrounded by admiring and perplexed locals. A plaque near the painting says that this virgin "represents the arrival of spring and the Golden Age."
Tumblr media
Our heroes found themselves in the position of this virgin. The force that descended upon them took them beyond the limits of ordinary show business, they began to do only what they wanted - and could afford it. They found themselves in the unprecedented position of "the best band on Earth." But they were not just a band performing pop music – together they created something through which the sunlight and the mystery of the joy of being spoke.
Tumblr media
And the moment of the peak came, the highest point, when their new song was heard by the largest audience ever gathered in the history of mankind. If you want to say what you came for, say it now. And they said, "All You Need Is Love."
But when you get to the top, where do you go next?
It is said that gods cannot stay in a human body for long. What was said was said. The power began to go away, and the Beatles themselves did not know exactly what was going on.
And it became audible in their songs.
After the tide always ebbs; the songs began to become elegiac and detached; what can you say when you see that the task is completed, the train has switched tracks and it's time for the switchman to leave?
Tumblr media
All of us – not knowing what was happening, but feeling with all our souls – were present at the departure of the Great Being.
Then, when it was over and the heroes of our story went their separate ways, everyone told reporters that they were glad to finally get rid of a heavy load - and silently, silently regretted that it was all over.
The continuation of the fairy tale follows.....

#Everything you need to know about Rock📌
Marc Bolan
Tumblr media
We all know that life in this body is short, and we don't have time to waste it on trifles. It's time to penetrate the mysteries of existence. And what is the best way to do this? Of course, take the life of a great saint and look at what he said and did. And it is also clear that the life of a great saint cannot be considered like any other life, starting from the beginning and ending with the end. The life of a saint obeys the laws of heaven, and one must look at it the same way as at heaven – without beginning or end, absorbing it with all one's heart and not trying to understand anything.

Marc Bolan is a poet, singer, guitarist, composer, madman and the heart of the T. Rex band, the most important phenomenon of the early 70s. After all, when the Beatles broke up, T. Rex took their place. Mass hysteria began, the same as it was around the Beatles.
However, there was no sign of jealousy – Ringo Starr became very friendly with Mark and even made a movie about him, "Born To Boogie". Both John Lennon and Paul McCartney, without collusion, announced that T. Rex – "the most interesting thing in today's music." And Jimi Hendrix, peace be upon him, met young Mark and told him: "You will become a star, but not before you pick up an electric guitar." What Mark soon did – with great success.

"When I was little, I was sure that I was a higher being. I had nothing in common with other people. I do not know who I am or where I come from. But I know for sure that I'm not from here."
He spent hours listening to his father's record collection; one day his father mistakenly bought him a record with Bill Haley's rock and roll, and eight-year-old Mark realized that he had found his calling in life.
At the age of seventeen, he decided to take a long trip to France. And there I met a magician who lives in a castle abandoned by people near Akimedi. According to rumors, this magician was in a close relationship with the god Pan.
Mark spent eighteen months with him and witnessed many miracles, and what he saw greatly influenced him. For some time he lived as a hermit in a forest cave near Rome.
Back in London, he locked himself in his small room for months and spent days writing songs. His future wife, June Child, said that she had never seen anything like it in her life:
"It was as if magical energy was pouring out of him." Mark himself attributed everything to his guardian angel, who, as he said, actually composed songs for him. It was during this time that he created dozens of songs that would be recorded on his first five albums.

Mark's first attempts to break through to fame ended in failure: after an unsuccessful collaboration with the John's Children group, the company confiscated all his available equipment and a single electric guitar. However, in the meantime, he had already acquired a like-minded percussionist friend named Steve. Mark immediately renamed it to Steve Peregrine Took (Steve Peregrine Took) – named after one of the characters in Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Armed with bongs and an acoustic guitar, they set off to conquer the world. And they took the appropriate name – Tyrannosaurus Rex, after the largest and fiercest of the dinosaurs.

Wonderful producer Tony Visconti saw their performance at the legendary London UFO club – and did not even realize that Mark was singing in English. He was convinced that this strange singer was a foreigner and sang in an unknown language, and most likely did not know English at all. After the concert, he approached the couple and talked to Steve Peregrine Tuck, but Mark intervened and arrogantly told Visconti that he was the seventh producer to propose to them today.
Of course, this statement was a pure show-off, but the next day Mark and Steve broke into Visconti's office and staged an impromptu concert right there. It all ended with the signing of a big contract.

One day Mark and June woke up in their apartment, on the wall of which one of Mark's friends, at his request, painted a huge tyrannosaurus rex. And June saw with horror that the monster was moving and breathing. Mark said later that the power of his imagination had awakened the drawing and if he hadn't had the moral strength to look away, they could have been eaten.
This magic is such a difficult thing.
One day, Mark's school friend David Bowie went to see a clairvoyant. She studied everything carefully and coolly told him that he, Marc Bolan and Jimi Hendrix were aliens from another world sent here to change the consciousness of the Earth's population. And the body of each of them can only withstand five years from the start of the mission.
Mark completely immersed himself in composing songs from the field of magic and myths. Like many others, he was convinced that the further the Western world goes into the field of technocracy, the more people's souls are drawn to the simplicity and purity of the past. Most of the culture of the 60s tended to recreate the past or a kind of journey to East. Mark even wrote these lines:
We hide under the masks of the East, Because the dark forms of the Western world They fill our members with horror, And everything stops growing. We yearn for legends, and legends They are located in the east of our mind.
He even formed his own mythology about the human world called Rarn, which existed long before the dinosaurs. By the way, modern science occasionally discovers human artifacts that are more than thirty million years old, so who knows? He might not have been wrong.

In 1969, Mark released a collection of his poems called The Warlock of Love. He was very proud of this collection, said that he wrote all these poems in a couple of weeks, and explained such incredible speed by the fact that in one of his past lives he was a Scottish bard.

Mark himself said: "There is magic in the chords of rock and roll. They create fog and other amazing things inside a person. All the beautiful vibrations are contained in these chords."

"I use music as an experience. I play at home for seven hours a day and I'm happy about it because that's what I do. The music comes from God. But I don't see anything in today's religions that would satisfy me. Perhaps you can say that my roots in paganism are not in the sense of sacrifices, but because the Earth is important to me. The earth gives us food, and inspiration comes from the sky. I feel connected to the spirits of the trees. It is clear to me that trees have a soul. Once upon a time, man was a beautiful beast, but that time has passed. I like to believe that in ten years, when it gets really dark, all the people with good heads will go over the rainbow to other dimensions and leave all the greyness behind here."
