Been thinking about tron names for a while now. In the original, it seems that programs names are their file names, with mcp, tron, and clu all referred to by name outside the grid. That being said, what was ram? Did some dumbass at encom try downloading ram off the internet?? That aside in tron uprising and legacy we get more human names like beck, bodhi, mara, Paige so I would like to propose that flynn, knowing that the programs are sentient, started renaming them with people names

1. Bodhi

Literally on screen for 30 seconds max

We all clocked that shit instantly

Never brought him up again (thx to retroactive backstory oops)

Beck was actually visibly sad about him tho to the point his boss/dad had to ask if he was ok

Absolute cute couple though

8/10 I knew him for five seconds and now I have to kill everyone in this room and then myself

2. Paige

Y'all already know. Everyone knows. The whole grid knows.

The sexual tension is palpable

Which brings me to some difficult questions about the nature of programs and what physical functions they may or may not have.

Ugh I'm a sucker for the rivals to lovers thing tho

3. Tron

I went over this in my tron's exes list but I must reiterate cause reasons

Can you imagine meeting your hero, your icon, your savior and he's....a bit of a bitch??

But you learn and get to know him and he opens up to you and comes to trust you with his life UGH my heart

9/10 I rated this 7/10 before but I'm not scared anymore they're GOOD

4. Cyrus

Look, he gets in with his bffs and the first thing they say to Beck is "you didn't tell us you had a new bf!" (Totally NOT paraphrasing that).

The fucked up stalker/victim pairing is SUCH good tea

And then he tries to kill him later? Delicious.

7/10 this one's for the toxicity 😏

5. Lux (I had to look up her name)

okay this one loses points because they WANTED me to ship this when we already knew Paige existed

I don't like to be told what to do

I mean, it's ok Beck has two hands(more like eight at this point) I can work with it

loved her jaded perspective turning into hope before she was fridged for male pai- I mean derezzed for reasons relevant to the plot 👀 that was definitely neat

Consider: she is pretty though

4/10 they're both a ten but I'm a bitter bitch so sue me

6. Mara

tbh she's such a cutie and deserves way better than whatever incel shit Zed has going on

no wonder she's in love with Tron/the Renegade (I mean, same) I would beg a superhero to save me from him too

she and Beck have such a good dynamic

would be such a cute friends to lovers pair

can you imagine if she found out her bestie was the renegade she's been visibly/audibly thirsting after? Queen shit.

8/10 This one is actually the least toxic here

7. The rebellion leader whose name escapes me (it's Bartik)

so this guy appears in legacy as the rebel leader at Castor's before getting derezzed five minutes later (shocker there)

this one just kinda leaped into my brain when I binged the show directly after watching Legacy

can you imagine inspiring someone to change sides completely and then become the leader of the very fire you sparked long after you're probably gone? Endlessly romantic.

6/10 I have yet to have a really bad ship tbh

8. Pavel

I hate it, you hate it, we all hate it

But it's still pretty hot

9. Zed

Ahaha I hate it

he's way too comfortable with the evil bad guy shit happening around him.

I really do love that Beck is just the most specialest boy, he's the grid's next top model, he's batman, he's everything. Istg this is a harem anime in disguise and I ship him with everyone.

I can think of at least two programs off the top of my head that I didn't include because I forgot until now, so tell me about your rare pairs, etc. I was thinking about rating Clu's crushes that he handles in a completely normal way next but that might be too much. This is what happens when we have no new content for 10 years.

Thoughts on Uprising ep18 “No Bounds”

- cold open: well, I clocked that was Cyrus the moment those Black Guards were derezzed. like, Beck’s Entire Thing is that he does not derezz ANYONE including soldiers of the Occupation. that’s what he does. but Cyrus of course has no such compunctions, and thinks the whole Grid deserves to die anyway, SO. fUCK HIM. also “guess who’s back~” FUCK YOU TWICE, MAN.

- turns out Mara got caught in the blast of Cyrus’ bomb, but she’s okay after a once over and some shrapnel removal. (Zed fainting is the only moment of levity in the entire episode and I just. I just. I could’ve used some more. SIGH.) and then Beck, who’s just hanging with his friends (good for him) catches Cyrus admiring his handiwork and, perhaps stupidly, goes after him. and it turns out Cyrus stole Tron’s white disc, the disc with the Renegade disguise in it! SO THAT’S NOT GOOD, IS IT.

- side note, Love how the updated Wanted notice for the Renegade cites him for “the unlawful killing of civilian programs” which. like. OPPOSED TO ALL THE LAWFUL KILLING YOUR FUCKING POLICE STATE HAS DONE?!?!?!?!

- Beck thinks he still has it, tho, and lies to Able about being okay when he really shouldn’t (because Able is your good dad, Beck!! don’t lie to him!!!!!) and then gets fucking zapped by the fake that Cyrus apparently put in place of the real thing.

- and Beck takes the fake to Tron, and they have an argument about Cyrus and who should have told what when and it’s just. okay, I can see both your points of view, guys. you maybe should have BOTH tried honesty on for a change????? MAYBE??? GOD. I’m just. (I am still Extremely Shaken by the end of the episode, okay.) I want people to get along, and they’re on the same side, right? and maybe Beck feels a little un-special because he wasn’t the first, but Tron has a good point. Cyrus fights to destroy what he sees as an unworthy world. Beck fights because he believes in something, in his home and his friends. Cyrus doesn’t believe in anything, apparently, except others’ innate predictability.

- and now Cyrus is just casually hanging out with Zed and Mara!!!! GREAT. JUST WHAT I WANTED TO SEE. I know this is like a common trope or whatever, but I have NEVER liked it, because holy SHIT. this is a hot steaming pile of AWKWARD. talking around the truth, all that jazz. Cyrus is just being a Grade-A CREEP here and I don’t like it I hate it I hate it.

- and then…….. he tells Beck there’s a bomb at Able’s garage. and there is…….. the moment Beck brings it to the garage on his lightcycle. FUCK. I just. I cussed so much during this episode, but it wasn’t really feel-good cussing, if you know what I mean? this episode did not excite me, it filled me with a growing sense of Dread. and also an empty hole in my stomach. among other things. (STILL stuck on the ending, I’ll get there I’ll get there)

- turns out Able knows Cyrus! and knows how he operates—which is basically a sort of reverse psychology thing??? telling you one thing to get you to do something? kind of??? ties back into how he thinks all programs are predictable, I guess??? I don’t know, but Beck suddenly realizes that Cyrus WANTED him to take the counterfeit disc to Tron, because it takes over the systems of Tron’s hideout and…… that whole little scene was FUCKING CREEPY. all the lights go out—except for Tron’s suit….. and then Cyrus appears. FUCK.

- so Cyrus has set up a Dark Knight-esque bomb trap—or rather, a superhero villain choice trap, I guess? Beck has to choose one or the other—his friends, or his mentor. but he’s got an ace up his sleeve with Able!! so Beck goes to save Tron, Able to save Zed and Mara, and thankfully there’s no switchup, nor is the timeline so tight they fail to get there in time. but the single key doesn’t work for Able (because Cyrus fully expected Beck to take it to Tron) and so he goes about detaching the bombs by hand. Beck uses Bodhi’s tool to free Tron. it looks like things are going to….. be okay? for half a second???

- and then FUCKING CYRUS shows up because of COURSE HE FUCKING DOES. Tron sends Beck off to help Able, and a Cyrus v. Tron fight ensues! It’s a good action scene with some good beats, and Cyrus is apparently desperate for Tron’s approval. he wants to succeed Tron, to BE Tron, to be better than him in every way. except Tron won’t give him the satisfaction (and thank FUCK for that).

- and then Able gets the bombs off Mara and Zed!!!!!! It’s gonna be okay!!!!!! EXCEPT THEN THE BOMBS GO OFF???!?!??! and Tron gets the one attached to Cyrus but ABLE IS HOLDING THE OTHER TWO THAT WERE ON ZED AND MARA?!?!?!?!? AND. AND.

- fuck.

- thanks. i hate everything now. great. (i don’t actually hate everything now, but. but. but.)

- Mara draws the wrong conclusion. blames the Renegade. (Beck maybe should’ve taken off his disguise???? idkkkkkkkkkk) and basically everything has hit Rock Bottom for Beck. his friends hate the Renegade now, hate him indirectly. the city is turned against the Renegade completely. his only other mentor is dead. fuck.

- so this can’t get much worse. except somehow it’s going to. there’s only one episode left. none of these plot points that have been dangling all season are going to be fully resolved. fuck.

- i’m not okay, guys (solid episode, would watch again)

In your Tron Uprising modern human AU, do you have any HCs for the character's ethnicities?

ah, i had to give this a bit of thought but yeah!

courtesy of my friend @miralyk, i do think of beck as vietnamese! earlier versions of beck's concept art do make him out to be more asian, and his design in general just doesn't really feel caucasian to me

i'm still considering what type of european mara would be, but i'm open to ideas! i think european culture and clothes would be fun to draw for her, but i may need to do some research into that first :'D

since bodhi is a name derivative of buddhism, i like to think he's southeast asian or more specifically, malaysian! in that same vein, i also drew zed with him being filipino in mind :D

as for paige, i headcanoned her as cantonese chinese! i share the same eye-shape as her, and her design with a high collar and sleeveless top reminds me of a very plausible cheongsam; not to mention a lot of her combat moves are reminiscent of old hong kong martial arts movies
