The E 113 series was the first of BMW's Neue Klasse models that transformed the company's fortunes, rescued it from bankruptcy and established a template for all subsequent BMW models. BMW’s I Vision Dee Concept Car !

For the 2023 CES, BMW is back with an evolution of its E Ink. Demonstrated on the i vision dee, the more advanced technology is showing its true colors, all 32 of them. 

It no longer just alternates between black and white as it now supports a full-color version with individually configurable body panels. 

The German luxury brand teamed up with E Ink to borrow its ePaper film and apply no fewer than 240 segments all over the concept's body.

It's not just the body that can have a color-changing finish as the wheels can also be covered in E Ink to make the i Vision Dee the automotive equivalent of a chameleon. 

BMW touts that "an almost infinite variety of patterns" are possible and switching to a different finish is done in a matter of seconds.

BMW i Vision Dee, 2023. Being presented at the CES, a futuristic mid-size sedan with a new and pared-down design language that previews the head-up display which will feature in BMW's NEUE KLASSE models from 2025. The name “Dee” stands for Digital Emotional Experience, it utilises a Mixed Reality Slider that allows drivers to decide how much digital content they want to see on the Head-Up Display. The five-step selection ranges from analogue, to driving-related information, to the contents of the communications system, to augmented-reality projection, right up to entry into virtual worlds. In parallel, dimmable windows can also be used to gradually fade out reality. The Vision Dee has a full-colour version of BMW's E Ink technology allowing up to 32 colours to be displayed. The body surface is divided into 240 E Ink segments, each of which is controlled individually. This allows an almost infinite variety of patterns to be generated and varied within seconds.

I realised that the actual last line I wrote was from the Comfort Zone which is anonymous. So here's one from the chapter I've been taking way too long to write of How Did We Get Here.

Dudley's flat was the lower half of a converted semi-detached house down a quiet, leafy street. They knew they had the right address because parked outside was a BMW 5 series with the number plate B1G DEE. Hermione hadn’t thought it was possible to think any less of the man, but it was nice to be proven wrong sometimes.
