Hello! The ever-sweet and wonderful @marthaskane tagged me to share eight shows that define me/help you get to know me. Without further ado, the shows!
Alias (2001-2006)
Alias has taught me the value of old LiveJournal pages and the Wayback Machine more than any other show I've ever loved. I discovered this show in 2013 when it was on Netflix and then I spent a few months in Germany, where I spent too much money buying almost the entire show on iTunes because I could not comprehend going more than a day without Sydney Bristow with me.
2. The Clone Wars (2008-2013, 2014, 2020)
I remember when this show first aired and my siblings and I had a square dance at our school (very American, I know) so we had to DVR it. The next morning we snuck down early to watch it with the volume super low so we wouldn't wake up our parents. Few shows have continuously come back into my life the way this one has. I can track a lot of how I've changed as a fan through the different ways I've viewed this show over the last 15 years.
3. Fringe (2008-2013)
I've been rewatching this show since January of this year and can confirm: it is still a nearly perfect 100 episodes of TV. Fringe manages to perfect a lot of the plot lines and dynamics that appear in Alias (both are J.J. Abrams/his collaborators projects). It manages to walk the line between a procedural and a mythology-driven show beautifully and so clearly knows what message and themes it wants to share from the very first shot. If you like exploring messy family dynamics, action, and the X-Files, Fringe is a good option for you.
4. Gotham (2014-2019)
I historically have no cared much at all about Batman. He struck me as pretty boring in comparison to every other person he interacted with. Gotham change that for me (turns out he just needed to be put next to any even more boring guy, but I digress...). Loving this show is a lesson in looking past weird choices, wacky inconsistencies, and learning to just trust that writers will give you a fun ride, even if you understand less that 15% of it. It helped me remember that the sentence "I love this show" does not always mean "here is a perfect example of perfect storytelling" and just how freeing that can be. It also gave me a beautiful little group of friends who continue to make me smile on a regular basis.
5. Blindspot (2015-2020)
While this show may not be one I post about often, it was foundational for how I interact in fandom now. It was one of the first times I was active in a fandom from the start of the show. It was the first time I was in a fandom group chat and my Tumblr friends broke containment into being people I followed on Instagram and texted. I organized a Secret Santa. It was the first time I remember actively freaking out of promo photos (1x09 IYKYK) and synopses. Almost all the confidence I have when interacting in fandoms is from these experiences. And the plot is stellar.
6. Iron Fist (2017-2018)
I can't tell you how I ended up watching this. I do not know what prompted me to turn it on but I'm really glad I did. This show has so many amazing nuggets of amazingness and its shortcomings brought me together with two of my favorite people as we tried to understand what had gone wrong and where. (This is not a good ad for the show.) I love getting to play with stories and characters that have seemingly infinite potential and getting to do it with other people who are just as committed to the story as I was meant the world.
7. The Rookie (2018-present)
I fought against this one so hard. I did not want to get into it, but as my dash filled with those gifs of Lucy in the green dress and I had my wonderful friend pitching the show to me over and over, I caved. And I'm really glad I did. The experience of watching a long season over months, one week and one episode at a time, is so different than streaming or rewatching shows and I'd forgotten how much I missed it until I got to do it again for this show. My Tuesday livestreams with my lovely friend single-handedly pulled me through so many rough spots over the last year. For a procedural dramedy, The Rookie continues to serve up some of the best characters on TV right now and consistently delivers some of the best cold opens.
8. Prodigal Son (2019-I'm in denial)
The show that owns my heart and soul. The show I'd sell my organs to get new episodes of. Returning to this show, whether I'm writing fic, doing a TED Talk in my head about the psychology in the show, or actually watching an episode, consistently feels like coming home. I did not know it was possible for someone to stick their hand in your head and pull out a show custom-made for you, but that's what this is. The characters are all so perfectly imperfect and desperate to be better. The plots are just the perfect amount of bonkers. The show being a drama pretending to be a procedural is beautiful. If you'd told me in 2019 that a show about a profiler whose dad is a serial killer and they solve crimes together would be the show that would leave an indelible mark on my life, I would have rolled my eyes because that's so cliche. 2019!me had no idea what she was on about. But I'm glad she figured it out and randomly put on this little show one night that had continued to pull me through good days and bad days and everything in between.
As for tagging other people, anyone is welcome to join but I’ll specifically tag some people I know who haven't been tagged (I think): @electricbluebutterflies, @chenlucys, @shinythinx, @rojaswarren, @meandmyechoes, @padme-deserved-better, @whitesunlars, @harrows-bones, @bpdanakins, and @violetsandmagpies.

Love, Death + Robots : Volume 1
The animation were incredible and so different from each other.
But the show should have been named "Kill, Death + Robots".
My favorite one was again the three robots exploring the apocalyptic earth and lucky thirteen wasn't that bad at all.
So here a review for each episode :
Three robots (1x01) : I love those three robots, the way they are discovering each human tradition was well done. I really liked the part about the cats being the god of them all. It's also the fragility of the human race.
Beyond the Aquila rift (1x02) : The animation was amazing. From the beginning you know that it will end badly. It's the idea of what's real. Terrible story, I really didn't expect that.
Ice age (1x03) : The only episode with true actors. I also liked the mini world in the freezer, being the repetition of the same story, the same cycle.
Sonnie's edge (1x04) : It's about monster fight in a pit controlled by human. The end is really unexpected.
When the yogurt took over (1x05) : the story was very stupid and ridiculous, but I liked the demolition of human satellite.
The secret war (1x06) : It was the best SGI animation from the entire volume, every detail was so well done. However, the characters should have spoken in Russian and at the end, the episode became too much like a video game.
Sucker of souls (1x07) : I was sure from the first moment of the episode that it will concern vampires, but I don't understand what they were looking in the first place, in this tomb? Also, why Gary has a girl's voice, that doesn't make sense. And I really liked the importance of cats in this episode too.
The witness (1x08) : Every animation is different, this one was very different from the other, like animation on drugs too. Why there isn't any one in this town? Why the man has the key of the flat? It seems that the two of them are stuck in a loop in which he killed her and the other she killed him.
Suits (1x09) : Poor cows. It was honestly a weak episode. What was the point of it?
Good hunting (1x10) : First of all why the characters do not speak in Mandarin? And why it couldn't be a love story between Jan and Ling instead of this horrible story, even if the end is good.
The dump (1x11) : Is about a monster who survive on garbage, I called it "le monstre des poubelles".
Shape-Shifters (1x12) : I really hate war, but I think they want to show us, who are the real animal during war?
Fish night (1x13) : From the beginning, there was a foreshadowing of what will become later in the episode. The animation with the ocean sea was amazing, the desert becomes a sea of glowing fishes. It also shows us that the young boy becomes a fish, suggesting his descent to death.
Helping hand (1x14) : The episode was disgusting, but I presume it's about surviving and not dying in the atmosphere.
Alternate histories (1x15) : If only an application like this could exist. It's called multiversity.
Lucky 13 (1x16) : The story in itself was a bit sad, but cute. The ship sacrifice itself.
Blindspot (1x17) : The only episode with a happy ending I presume, but it's a shame that we don't know why this microchip is so important.
Zima Blue (1x18) : The episode with a bittersweet ending, the last art of Zima, beneficing himself at the end.
Some quotes:
"- You've seen one post-apocalytic city, you've seen 'em all." (Robot 1 - 1x01)
"- No. Indeed, it was their own hubris that ended their reign, their belief that they were the pinnacle of creation that caused them to poison the water, kill the land and choke the sky. In the end, no nuclear winter was needed, just the long heedless autumn of their own self-regard. (Pyramid robot) - Are you okay? (Orange robot) - Yeah, sorry. Thought that would sound better than, "Nah, they just screwed themselves by being a bunch of morons." (Pyramid robot - 1x01)
"- And what makes you so special? - I'm not special. Unique." (1x04)
"- Now, hate that was something I had to learn. You don't come into this world with hate." (1x04)
"- Everyone sees what they want to see." (1x04)
"- Do try to at least act excited. (Doctor) - Mercenaries are like hookers, pretending to be excited costs extra." (Mr. Flynn - 1x07)
"- Well, at least I'll die young and beautiful." (1x09)
"- You know what I think? It's all in the attitude. The right attitude can sell anything." (Young boy - 1x13)
"- God damn company penny pinchers, am I right? (Bill) - Why pay two when one'll do?" (Astronaut - 1x13)
"- I had to make a wee sacrifice to the great nothing." (Astronaut - 1x14)
"- In spite of all his success, Zima was still dissatisfied and what he did next was, for many, too extreme a sacrifice to make for art." (Clare - 1x18)
"- But you're a man with machine parts, not a machine that thinks it's a man. (Clare) - Sometimes, it's difficult even for me to understand what I've become. And harder still to remember what I once was." (Zuma - 1x18)

1x09 - Blindspot
Nina live watches, episode 9...
Ok but Patterson's ex boyfriend david is giving me the ick. He is just over the top obsessed with the puzzles and the miss you on the coffee shop board and just...now he's at the library watching some woman with red hair and he's going to get his ass killed right? he put Patterson's job on the line and... I don't know. I feel like he might be bad? maybe I need to stop being sus on everyone.
EXCUSE ME who the hell is Allison Knight and why the hell does she know Kurt has a sister and a nephew???? and I am soooo here for the energy Jane brought into the room when she say Allison Knight hug her mans...The side eye that Jane brought in I am cryingggggggggg.
WHOA next scene and Kurt is in a tux and Allison and him have history?! Excuse me??!?!?! why are they flirting so comfortably, ugh I am very curious about this mess. Oh my god Ms Doe just came into scene and he couldn't even focus on what Allison was saying (even thoug she was asking him back into a relationship), he's obsessed. He loves her, he is literally in l o v e with her and Allison is a vibe????
Aw the ring exchange in the lift brought memories in of her in bed with another man with the tree tat and now I'm dyingggg to know what is happening there.
OH I love jealous Kurt!!!! He was just about to throw hands about a security officer touching Jane's bod. I mean they really are mid mission and Kurt was like 'hey that's enough'
OH god they're dancing at the moment and now Jane's using that opportunity to interogate him about Allison and I love it. She's just asked him if he's ever been married and he hasn't because he's choosy but... good god she's just told him about the tattoo guy with the ring and I kinda like that she's making an effort to be honest. I wonder what we're going to do when Jane comes face to face with the tattoo guy from her dreams??? She's very clearly starting to fall for Kurt.
Side note - this whole series both Jane and Kurt always have these glassy eyes and it really adds to the magic these two have.
OH NO David died?!!?!??! oh my god my thoughts from the start of the episode were wrong! He was just a guy trying to impress the girl he loves and misses. awww, he died for no reason.

Music of Blindspot
Music of Blindspot 2x14 - Borrow or Rob
Standard disclaimer: all music is composed by Blake Neely and Sherri Chung; I’m getting nothing out of this except an excuse to re-watch with my own little auditory memory mini-game. Please don’t do anything shady with the YouTube links; I don’t want to get the OPs in trouble or we could lose access to this awesome content. Also note that linked music recycled from season 1 was released on an official soundtrack, which is still purchasable on iTunes etc. And it’s good to support the things we love! :D This post is quite short. The legacy of Rich Dotcom kind of dominates the music this week as much as it does the plot, in terms of what's noticeable. The few notes I have are below the cut due to very limited spoilers (including a bit of throwback).
When the episode opens with Rich, Boston, Zach, and Thad breaking into the university admin, the song playing is Busta Rhymes - Break Ya Neck. I am... not... going to write those lyrics here. They're on google in the event that anyone cares to look. The song itself was released in 2001 (which is when the scene dates itself) so I guess this was a very contemporary tune for kid Rich and friends.
Apart from that, the legacy of Rich Dotcom: the Season 1 OST track "Under Cover" is a mashup of the background music from different moments in 1x09, and hints and excerpts of it turn up several times in this episode. The ones that are most noticeable to me:
When Weller says "Jane's busy" and then observes that Rich is "not talking about Jane...."
When Weller and Rich break into the party
When Rich gets shot (for the second time) by Weller. There they seem to continue to build on the general sound Rich brings to the show. I don't know that it could even be called a 'theme song' because it's different basically every time, but the general sound is pretty unmistakable as it comes up. Here's the original section from "Under Cover" that accompanied his first appearance: https://youtu.be/ht6nd12X2MQ?t=75
Lastly, when Jane is lying to Weller that Roman didn't remember anything, and when they discuss her date, there's a touch of the Jeller part of Under Cover (at the start of the original OST track) - the original was played when he first saw her in the dress (1x09) and... wait for it... "More than anything" (2x01. Yes, "I feel ridiculous in this dress."/"That is not the word I would use." and "Why did you then?"/"Because I wanted it to be true. Because I wanted to be Taylor." had the same BGM). Personally find it really interesting the way that sound seems to come up for these moments of sort of... duality between them, when they're being both deceptive and painfully honest all at once. Under cover pretending they're married... "under cover" pretending they don't care more than friends. Hmmmmm.......

I'm glad this was a good surprise! I'll definitely check the sequel. I don't think I was ever disappointed by your stories so I'm here waiting patiently (or - to be honest - not so patiently because with this lockdown days just don't pass by... How many hours a day can one keep working without losing it at some point and needing a distraction?) Also, I'm sending messages as an anon here because I don't have (or ever had) a tumblr account. I just found your site and some other Blindspot-related
sites back then when I used to watch the show and not miss an episode. So I guess that answers your question and I hope it’s not a problem. Finally, a new question by me: how old are Remi and Weller in you story? Remi is about 28 years old (she left Shepherd a decade ago when she was 18?) and Weller is like 32-33? Younger? Thanks for your reply and stay safe and healthy, my friend. ReviewerAnon
Absolutely a good surprise. And it’s no problem that you don’t have a tumblr, it actually makes it even more impressive that we’re crossing paths again now! Plus it makes me feel better that I haven’t been unknowingly ignoring your blog this whole time lol.
As for your age question: it’s kind of hard to be sure because the show has literally contradicted itself in regards to their ages, but for Weller’s age I go from the first info we got, which was that in 2015 (when Jane was found), Taylor had been missing for twenty-five years, putting Weller at 35 in 2015. FTA happens in 2013, probably somewhere in July (haven’t quite decided yet), so I’m saying he’s 33 during the story. Again, the dates for Remi are a little confusing as well, but we have been told her birth year was 1983, so while writing FTA I’d put her at about 29. However, I have literally just now (after reading your question about birthday presents lol) decided that I want her birthday to be earlier in the year, so it doesn’t fall during my timeline for the sequel haha. (Specifically, I chose April 5th, because it’s the date I started writing FTA last year, plus it’s similar to my birthday lol. Who knows though, I might change my mind again by the time I actually post haha). So anyway, I guess that means she’s 30 in FTA? But really, this answer has probably proven that, like with the show, it’s best to just not think too much about it haha.
About the gift question, sadly that’s another thing I can’t tell you too much about haha! But I will say that it would be very pretty, and very sharp, and she would love it :P
(PS, very glad you feel the same way I do about cliches. I definitely hope mine will be along the lines of the 1x09 kind and not the other kind… but I guess we’ll find out!)

Also, I love how Tasha's so disdainful of Rich without even interacting with him, even before seeing him from a distance, and on meeting him, that dislike just intensifies. And then by the end of the show, she's telling him that somehow, she loves him just like the rest of the team, and it's just such a journey. :D
