Blazing Saddles (1974)
This is a Movie Health Community evaluation. It is intended to inform people of potential health hazards in movies and does not reflect the quality of the film itself. The information presented here has not been reviewed by any medical professionals.
Blazing Saddles has one shot near the end, outside of a theater, with patterned lights that create very minor strobes. The effect of the Warner Bros. logo burning away from the screen at the beginning may create a minor strobe effect with its flickering.
All of the camera work in this film is either stationary or very smooth.
Flashing Lights: 2/10. Motion Sickness: 1/10.
TRIGGER WARNING: This film contains extensive commentary on racism that is present in many films of the Western genre. In this effort, many characters use an extensive variety of racial and homophobic slurs. One actor appears in redface. Jokes are made about rape.
NOTE: Our evaluation of Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank (which is a loose remake of this film) will be available on our Patreon page at Patreon.com/MovieHealth starting tomorrow, July 15.

I watched this because of Paws Of Fury. It was nice to see which parts made it into the more coherent, much more entertaining adaptation of this, the original.
But this is definitely one of those old movies that didn’t age well, reinforcing my belief that most old movies/stories do not bode well with the modern audience.
It definitely had me wondering if the Must Watch’s of our time will still be enjoyable to audiences 50 years from now.
Blazing Saddles is a 1974 American satirical western black comedy film directed by Mel Brooks. Starring Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder, the film was written by Brooks, Andrew Bergman, Richard Pryor, Norman Steinberg, and Alan Uger, and was based on Bergman's story and draft.
