oh hey btw, apparently tumblr mobile now has an option to report ads for having flashing lights, if you click the three dots in the top right corner it should show up. not sure how long thats been there but i dont remember it being there at least a few months back, i would venture to guess it came with the recent update but shrug. fucking ridiculous that they cant just not put flashing ads in our faces in the first place, but at least this is an option.
people who dont have issues with flashing lights are allowed and encouraged to reblog

Photosensitivity warning for Good Omens season 2.
I can’t believe we have to keep doing this over and over again but in season 2 episode 1 of good omens there is a long scene (upwards of ten seconds, which to me is long for an extremely dangerous epilepsy trigger) of very bright white and red flashing lights. It’s the entire screen. Unfortunately for me I was already watching this with a migraine coming on and I’m immediately in agony. There was no warning whatsoever before this happened. It’s at almost the very end of the episode. Please reblog to save someone a migraine or seizure.

WARNING
I know there's been a lot of chatter about Twitter rebranding to X, but if you have any photosensitive triggers, DO NOT go to Musk's user page to see what he's up to. There is a gif of the new X logo front and center in his recent posts that glitches around with a LOT of flashing lights. It hurt MY eyes to look at, and I don't have any issues with flashing.

Hey idk that anyone's really going to see this but the current (forced) Discord update for mobile has a glitch atm involving the new message bar flashing really quickly every time someone types in a chat.
Anyone with photsensitive epilepsy should def stay off Discord for a while until they fix it.
Edit: As far as I can tell this is now fixed!

PLEASE can we normalize proper flash warnings and requiring an option to disable flash effects in video games. i am so sick and tired of finding a video game i want to play with no flash warnings anywhere, only to discover there are full screen flash effects with no option to disable them. STOP MAKING YOUR GAMES INACCESSIBLE TO PHOTOSENSITIVE PEOPLE I BEG OF YOU

A heads-up for anyone who uses Adobe Photoshop and is sensitive to flashing lights (seizures, migraines, etc.): about a week ago there was an update that for some users (including me) means that when you open any file, the whole canvas rapidly flashes black and white until you close the file.
If this could hurt you, please be careful, and maybe have someone else open a file first to see if your version has this glitch! It seems to be affecting mostly older computers. I'm still looking into how to fix it.
Also please LMK how to tag this.

Happy to report that Barbie has very minimal use of any strobe-type effects beyond some glittering sequins in an early party scene!
Our detailed evaluation of Barbie will be available on our Patreon page at Patreon.com/MovieHealth later tonight, and on Facebook and Tumblr on Tuesday.

I want to remind everyone that someone intentionally trying to trigger a seizure is considered assault. It doesn't matter why or if they think it is funny. It's assault.

Hey so. I went to the movies. Usually movies don't have a lot of strobe lights that trigger my photosensitivity
Well, Puss in Boots 2 didn't.
But the fucking marvel trailer before it did!
And it was awful. I'm thankful to have been on my anticonvulsants. But not everyone might be.
So, please be careful, everyone.
PHOTOSENSITIVE PEOPLE AND EPILEPTICS:
WATCH OUT FOR "MARVEL'S ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA"
THE TRAILER HAS FLICKERING LIGHTS. THE MOVIE PROBABLY WILL TOO.

if u can’t play/finish your favorite games because of your disability, if you have to skip important cutscenes because of flashing lights, have to ask your friend to do a section because of fine motor issues/processing delay, have to google things because the tutorial is written in a way you can’t understand, you’re not cheating and you’re not giving up. you’re a disabled person with a hobby there’s nothing wrong with that.

do people who disregard photosensitivity realize that seizures can fucking kill or do they just not care. do people not realize that their "aesthetic" "cool" flashing lights that happen without SUFFICIENT warning... are fucking capable of killing people. i dont even care if i sound pissy right now because i am pissy, im sick of feeling like myself and others with epilepsy arent even afforded the right to be an afterthought to most people. im not even photosensitive but ffs this shit makes me so angry.
seizures themselves can be deadly if they go on too long, theyre essentially electrical overloads in the brain, you know, that organ that controls the entire rest of the body? and seizures can result in injuries or death from falls. from choking on our own vomit. from drowning in our own bathtubs, if we think we might be safe to bathe and then get proven wrong. maybe someone just wanted to watch a video or movie while they took a spa day.
did you know that epileptics are more likely to die younger than those without epilepsy, with all those risks and more? and have you heard of SUDEP? sudden unexpected death in epilepsy, death without a known cause, a rare but very real possibility for us. it kills approximately 1 in 1000 epileptics a year, if not more since it may not be accurately tracked. thats thousands of us dead a year. we do not need you to add to our death rates.
"all these things are known risks, epileptics just have to be more careful-" epileptic people should not have to be on constant fucking high alert. how about instead, people just learn to give a shit about life threatening disabilities? it takes so little effort to just offer a CLEAR and VERY OBVIOUS warning AHEAD OF TIME, for a SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TIME, before your stupid flashing lights. or just dont add them at all. are they necessary? are they really necessary? would you really fucking rather photosensitive epileptics have to be constantly on guard, IMPOSSIBLY on guard, rather than you just considering their safety? nobody can anticipate every instance of unexpected flashing lights they might come across. but you, creators, are able to provide warnings, and if for any reason you arent, then hire someone else to edit the warnings in or just get rid of the fucking lights altogether.
again, my epilepsy is not photosensitive, but i will never stop being protective of my photosensitive siblings. my own life is scary enough with the form of epilepsy i have, i cannot imagine how terrifying it must be to have to maneuver through the world with photosensitivity, and i dont want careless assholes to go killing my fucking community because you dont give enough of a shit to worry epileptic people. i am pissed off and emotionally exhausted and the shit with elon musk having a flashing gif on his twitter account was the straw that broke my back today so youre getting a pissed off PSA. everyone better start doing a whole damn lot better.
link to the CDC page about SUDEP
link to the epilepsy foundation site page about seizure risks
people without epilepsy are encouraged to reblog but know that i am already angry and will not tolerate bullshit on this post. give a fuck about other peoples lives and safety or im blocking you.

If you have epilepsy, migraines, or a condition that is affected by flashing lights/flickering images, and want to play Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, please withold from playing for now. The games are very glitchy at the moment, and things are often flickering rapidly on and off screen. Even trees have been flickering rapidly like this.

FUCK this glitchy/flashy/shaky/static effects trend that every person who makes any sort of media is getting into and putting everywhere without any trigger warnings whatsoever!
You are making it impossible for people like me with seizure, vision, photosensitivity, etc issues to engage with any media (especially videos and/or reels taking over) AT ALL!
So tired of it, fuck the ads everywhere (even here now!), fuck the reels taking over, fuck this flashy effects trend, fuck it all.
Sincerely, someone with severe vision, photosensitivity, and seizure issues, who is being forced away from every form of media for the sake of their own health.

just got hit by an unskippable youtube ad with intense fullscreen flashing. now i’m gonna get a migraine, and i’m very lucky that a bad migraine is my worst case scenario these days.
here’s your reminder that epileptic seizures can kill people and can start within seconds. there is no reaction period with which to look away. if you’re putting something with flashing out into the world without a flash warning or any time to react you’re participating in inaccessibility at best and peoples’ death at worst. imagine killing someone because you couldn’t be bothered to write “flash warning”.
add flash warnings & time to react, if you must have flashing at all. it’s not that hard.
