Mechanical engineering. What the heck. Why did you even apply for this major? You actually wanted to pursue a career in marine biology, but your parents kept pressuring you to either go into engineering or medical for a “stable life”, and you basically faint at the sight of blood, so the only route was engineering. You couldn’t understand your parents’ logic -- your skills in math lacked so much compared to your writing skills, but they were still pushing you. Yet, you were walking to your first Calculus class right now. You were mentally fuming until you accidentally bumped into a really tall boy. In the midst of this entire mess, you dropped your thick books as the mysteriously tall boy in front of you turned around.
“Oh no! Let me help you, I’m so sorry!”
You subconsciously said, “It’s okay, don’t worry,” before standing up and making eye contact with him. He looked quite young, and could possibly be your age. Looking up at him from a somewhat farther angle, you realized he was about a full head taller than you. Dang. But, he also had a bright smile, light brown hair, and eyes that made you feel like you were young again.
“Hello? Your books?”
Suddenly snapping out of your trance, you laughed and said, “Sorry! I must have zoned out -- thank you for helping me with my books!”
You had felt so flustered because he had been so good-looking, and compared to your looks, you had basically interacted with one of the most good-looking guys in college. Yikes. Hope you didn’t embarrass yourself.
Spotting the engineering building, you start walking towards your class when a hand suddenly grabs your arm gently. You turn around to see the same boy that you bumped into just now.
“H-hi! Sorry, what was your name?” he asked.
You softly chuckled. “I’m Y/N. Now am I going to get a name from you too, tall mysterious boy?”
“I’m Sanha! So ... what class are you heading to?”
“Calculus II with Professor Payton. Sigh. That class is so hard, I want to explode.”
“R-really? Me too! Y/N, let’s walk together!” he excitedly says.
You’re silent for a second, but before you can open your mouth to elicit a response, you’re cut off by a “But if you don’t want to it’s okay! I mean I’m not trying to force you! No pressure!”
You laugh a little harder and say, “Stop babbling, I’ll walk with you. It’ll be nice to finally have a friendly face in there. All the sophomores in that class intimidate me BIG time.”
Blushing hard, you can see his face break into a big grin as he takes your arm into his to walk towards the building. You’re a bit in shock, but you start to enjoy  it.
“Oh. My. God. Wasn’t that so boring? I didn’t understand a thing. Did you?” Sanha asks.
“Pft. Of course not! I hate math. With a strong passion.”
You laugh in response and you were about to ask him a question until he cuts you off once again.
“Y/N? D-do you ...  want to go grab lunch with me? But I mean, it’s fine if you have class soon! I completely understand!”
“Oh my ... Sanha, are you babbling again? Calculus was actually my last class, so I’m free to go! Where are we going to eat?”
Sanha practically jumps up and down in excitement and says, “That’s a secret! But, don’t worry, it’s still good Korean food. I’m also really excited to introduce you to this restaurant! I personally love it.”
You and Sanha started to walk out of campus and onto the street, and Sanha pulled out his phone to get directions to wherever you two would be eating. During the walk there, you found out that he was a Bioengineering major, but he too had different aspirations, and they were to major in Journalism. He had aspirations to report on various topics affecting our society today, but his parents were both bioengineers, and he felt that he couldn’t let them down.
You two finally got to the place -- it was a cute little restaurant that sold the generic Korean snack foods: kimchi fried rice, spicy rice cakes, kimbap, etc. Like the gentleman he is, Sanha opened the door for you and sat down at a booth to start ordering for the both of you.
It was the next month, and it turns out that you and Sanha went to go eat at that restaurant basically after every class. That class was only two times a week, so you didn’t feel too unhealthy. Um. At least you think you didn’t. Your entire month was full of these impromptu “dates” and by now, you had realized you had a crush on him. But deep down, you didn’t want to tell him because you were afraid of the friendship you guys had created. However, Sanha asked to meet up right now, and for an odd reason: he needed to talk to you. When he sent you that text, you decided to just straight up tell him two things: that you liked him ever since the day you bumped into him and that you were finally changing your major to Marine Biology, despite your parents’ desires.
You saw him in the distance and yelled out his name in an attempt to get his attention. Even though he was in a group of people, he naturally stuck out due to his height. He finally noticed you and started to walk over. He was visibly nervous and you could easily tell. He started to nervously scratch his head and looked down at his shoes. Unable to break the tension, you finally said, “Sanha, what’s wrong?”
“Oh! H-huh? Nothing’s wrong! I-I just have to tell you something really important.”
“Oh, okay! Go ahead! What’s up?” you said.
“So ... I’ve been wanting to tell you this since the day I’ve met you, but I think I like you. No, I like you!”
Clearly in shock that he actually liked you back, you took a step back.
Frowning, Sanha says, “But, if you don’t feel the same way, it’s okay. I just wanted to tell you.”
Afraid that you gave him the wrong idea, you immediately pull him into the tightest hug a petite person like you could do, and say, “Sanha, you idiot, I like you too!”
He lets go of the hug, looks at you, and squeals like a little girl. At this point, you don’t know if you’re smiling or crying of laughter, mostly because you had never heard Sanha squeal like that. You also add, “By the way, I’m changing my major to Marine Biology! My counselor approved it and I’ll be starting my new classes next week!” He looks at you in excitement and comes to pick you up by the waist. Literally, all you can hear is: “Congratulations!” or “I’m so proud of you!”
Afterwards, you and Sanha walk hand in hand towards your Calculus class, where everything all started.
ok hi this was an absolute mess oops. i really hoped you liked my first time writing something like this LOL. i also hope i actually wrote an AU ????
