Mu Qing is putting on a heavy earring, sitting in front of the mirror, when he hears the sound of a door opening. He smiles, knowing exactly what person is able to bypass all of his palace's guards and magical seal.
"I brought you a gift," a low, purring voice confirms his guess.
The god finishes fancying himself and turns around to face the intruder. "Are you trying to buy me, Luo Binghe?" he teases, but the smile leaves his face as soon as his gaze falls on the item in the demon's hands.
Over the man's arm is slung a heavy upper robe. The yellow fabric, no doubt of the finest quality, shimmers in the dim candlelight, and the skillful embroidery on the sleeves is eye-catching. This is not just a beautiful piece; oh no, it was made for someone worthy, a member of the Imperial family. This luxury was familiar to him, he had touched it, a sweetly bitter memory, the brocade of royal attire beneath his fingers.
Mu Qing swallows. "I can't take it," he says, and turns back to the mirror, hiding paled face in hands, refusing to look any longer.
Luo Binghe shifts closer to stand behind him. He puts a heavy hand with black claws on his shoulder, "Why so? You don't like it?"
"N-no! It's beautiful... But I can't wear it, it's inappropriate, a servant-" He stops. The hand squeezes his shoulder. It keeps stroking his arm to comfort him, and finally, Mu Qing is lifting his gaze hesitantly. Luo Binghe lowers himself and finds god's eyes in the mirror. "You were one once", he speaks right into his ear, breath hot, "but for the past 800 years, you've been a god. And the godhood really suits you". Mu Qing is trembling slightly. "Right," he says under his breath.
Binghe's lips stretch into a smile. "Now will you let me dress you up, my Lord?"
