We’re raising funds to ensure that Women of Color can attend Big Mouth Girl (BMG). Your contribution will make it possible for Women of Color to access this event without the undue burden of financial constraints.

Racism coupled with misogyny result in an uneven playing field that disadvantages Women of Color. This becomes evident when Women of Color are trying to safely access nature and lack the transportation and funds to do so. We are dedicated to ensuring that Big Mouth Girl is a multi-racial event where Black, Indigenous, and Women of Color (BIWOC) are not financially hindered in coming together for support and celebration of their culture and identities.

Alright it's been more than 20 minutes since I talked about BMG (just finished telling my sister everything about it) (ok maybe I left out the salacious stuff) so I'm here to say more: I did not get bored at BMG, not once. I have a big problem with feeling restless and bored, and that just did not happen. The women there are so easy to talk to and make friends with, the workshops are interesting and relevant and you can even make your own workshop if you want.

Even if you somehow run out of stuff to do and women to know, I cannot recommend enough just sitting and listening. Sometimes I would go to my tent and just sit for an hour, listening to the sound of women in the forest. It's so healing to hear women laughing and joking and talking and planning and being human. I lost track of time so easily while listening; it's truly meditative.

Get yourself to women's land.

BMG 2023 takeaways:

Have a rain plan/rain-proof tent (it rained twice)

Bring ear plugs (the woman in the tent next to you might not be sleeping alone)

Wear sunscreen if you leave the shade of the trees (my skin is still so red)

Find where you want to invest your time in future fests and connect with the older ladies there, they want to invest in you and pass the torch to the next generation

When flirting, be bold (we have less than a week in the trees)
