Oil Change: When and Why
Most car producers suggest an oil change basically every 7500 miles. Routine grease moves, generally done a few times per year are imperative to the vehicle's presentation. They are significant in light of the fact that as mileage on the vehicle increments, so is the reasonable for expanded emanations and loss of efficiency. Regular grease moves can assist with working on the car's presentation and accommodate longer motor life.
Oil fills various needs in a vehicle. It coats motor parts to forestall direct contact, which causes rubbing and intensity when they grind together. It likewise carries intensity and burnable side-effects from the motor as these parts heat up. Engine oil goes about as a cleanser to 'wash' the oxidation off of motor parts; it then holds these particulates until it is changed. In the event that the oil isn't changed oftentimes, after some time the results will develop into ooze in the motor and lead to significant issues. Albeit most vehicle makers suggest an oil change basically every 7,500 miles, driving propensities and the car's age can decide how much of the time the car needs adjusting. Driving circumstances including incredibly cold or sweltering climate, or dusty streets can influence the recurrence. More seasoned vehicles may likewise require an oil change as habitually as each 3,000 miles as a result of existing motor development.
The number framework used to rate oil depends on how rapidly dim fluid warms up, and consistency, or its thickness. Still up in the air by warming the oil to a particular temperature and seeing how rapidly the oil courses through a little opening. Since it requirements to stream unreservedly to appropriately cover the motor parts, a decent engine lube will stream meager when it's cold, and thicker when the car warms up. Most car producers suggest 5W30 and 10W30, despite the fact that there is just a slight distinction between the two and most cars can utilize by the same token.
A legitimate oil change likewise includes supplanting the oil channel. The channel safeguards the motor by getting any particles that might course in the oil before they get into the motor. Both ought to be supplanted by an expert, who can likewise appropriately discard the pre-owned oil and channel. There are a few distinct sorts of channels, however most present day cars utilize a twist on channel that is handily introduced. They ought to be changed when the thick fluid is changed in light of the fact that they channel everything from microscopic organisms to muck, and an oil change is silly assuming there is no new channel essentially every 3,000 miles.
Current car motors are quicker, and experience more mileage. Incessant oil changes are important to broaden the existence of the vehicle, particularly in the event that the proprietor's way of life requires a ton of car travel. Whenever done appropriately, and lube move is the principal line of safeguard against significant motor issues, and can further develop gas mileage. Burning through $20 like clockwork is surely worth the problem assuming that it implies inconsistent car inconvenience.

Words can't describe
Tumblr media
Paring: Shuri undaku x Riri Williams
Word count: 2.1k
Contains: oblivious Shuri, flirty Riri, workaholic Shuri (if you squint), shuriri being supper cute per usual, Implied smutt??
This is slightly proof read so bare with me
Summary: Riri comes to visit Shuri in wakanda one weekend and she keeps trying to drop hits that she wants more than just a friendship with Shuri. but Shuri isn't catching on to her hints.
A/N: Okye is still a Dora milage in this, and Riri and Shuri have been best friend's for a few years.
Tumblr media
Riri had spent the majority of her Friday afternoon packing her things, she had just left her last class for the day. Today was the day she was going to see her best friend Shuri whom she secretly liked. At least that's what she called it when she realized her heart raced as if she were running a marathon whenever she was in Shuris presence. While Riri was nearly done gathering her things and preparing to be picked up she heard a knock at her door. Intrigued to know who it was, she went to go open it.
She was pleasantly surprised to see none other than Shuri at her door with a smile worn on her face and open arms "Hey Riri".
Riri subtly smirked at Shuri before embracing her in a hug. A hug that the both of them wished would last forever. They slowly swayed back and forth to the rhythmic pace only they knew, their grasp on each other never loosing.
"I missed you so much Shuri" Riri admitted, breaking the silence between them.
Shuri moved her head down to gently press a kiss on Riri’s forehead. "I missed you too Riri" Shuri Came clean as well.
Before Riri could say anything in response, Okoye busted through the door startling Riri and Shuri, as they slipped out of one another's grasp.
"Okoye, I told you to wait outside" Shuri sternly said, looking at Okoye with a little annoyance.
"And I told you not to take forever, but here we are" Okoye giggled out while making slight eye contact with Riri.
"I wasn't up here that long" Shuri rolled her eyes. She then turned back to Riri. "But Riri, are you ready to go?"
"Um, yeah I just gotta grab one last thing and then I'll be ready" Riri said a little flustered, pointing her thumb back at absolutely nothing.
"I can stay up here with you if you want" Shuri stated as she looked at Riri with those big beautiful brown eyes that Riri hated to refuse. Nonetheless Riri needed time by herself to think.
"Ima be down in a few minutes Shuri, I'm good I promise" Riri reassured Shuri.
Shuri gently took Riri's hand into hers "Ok Ri, me and Okoye will be downstairs waiting for you" Shuri lightly rubbed her thumb across the top of Riris hand before leaving out of her dorm with Okoye.
Riri was now left with her thoughts. she had come to the conclusion that if there was a chance that Shuri did feel the same way about her, she needed to come clean about wanting more than just a friendship with Shuri. Riri wanted to Rush downstairs at that moment and pour her entire heart out to Shuri. But it simply wasn’t that easy for her. She knew everything she wanted to say to Shuri. But the correct words never came to Riri and her mouth always ran dry when given the opportunity to speak up about her love for her best friend. So Riri decided she would try her best to drop hints. Riri knew Shuri wasn't good with hints but she was still going to try.
Riri had all her things in hand and she was now walking downstairs to the car that awaited her. When she entered the last hallway leading to her exit, Shuri was leaned up against the wall waiting for her.
"Here let me help" Shuri insisted.
"Nah you don't gott-" Riri was cut off by Shuri reaching out for her bags anyways.
"Thank you Shuri" Riri said gratefully.
"You're welcome" Shuri smirked at Riri in the way that drove her insane.
They both walked out the door and then to the car which Okoye was driving. Shuri and Riri Got in. Riri nervously went to reach for Shuris hand. But Shuri wasn't paying attention as she moved her hand to start tweaking with her keymo beads. It wasn’t as direct as Riri wanted it to be but it was a start even if Shuri didn't catch on to what Riri was trying to do.
Tumblr media
They had arrived in wakanda, Shuri was helping Riri settle in like she always did. She unpacked some of Riri’s clothes for her. Then Shuri helped Riri add some of her pillows that she brought from home to her bed. Riri was on the other side of the room putting little trinkets she made on her small night stand. Shuri threw one last pillow onto the bed before she spoke.
"You can either explore the palace, or come down to the lab. it would just be us since everyone is off for the weekend." Shuri let Riri know with a soft smile adorning her face.
"I'll come down to the lab, since you said ima get some one on one time with you." Riri said as she bit her bottom lip a little and tilted her head to the side.
"Well not exactly one on one griot will be there" shuri chuckled out.
Riri didn’t find it funny at all but she awkwardly laughed anyway. Shuri headed out the door as Riri followed behind her, dragging her hand down her face in frustration because Shuri was so oblivious it Hurt.
Now in the lab Riri was sitting down in a chair Shuri pulled out for her, scheming up ways to give hints to Shuri. Shuri on the other hand was tweaking with some new project she had been working on.
So Riri got up out of her seat and approached her.
"Shuri Don’t you think you deserve a break, you've been working on that project for the past 30 minutes non stop" Riri suggested as she reached up to play with the necklace she got Shuri as a gift.
"But I really wanna finish this Riri, why does it seem like you're in a rush to do something?" Shuri questioned as Riri still fidgeted with her necklace.
"I haven't seen you in so long Shuri, I thought we were gonna spend quality time together when I got here" Riri sighed out looking like a sad puppy.
"Ok I guess I can finish this tomorrow but what exactly do you want to do Riri" Shuri asked with her arms crossed.
"You" Riri whispered out low enough so Shuri wouldn't hear her.
"Huh?" Shuri asked, now confused on what Riri just mumbled under her breath.
"Nothing, um you've been in here all day let's go on a walk, get some fresh air." Riri sighed out as she dropped her hand from Shuris necklace. At this point Riri was starting to feel a little defeated.
"Ok fine, but we can't be out there too long. I really want to finish this project today, Riri" Shuri explained as she reached for Riri's hand and rubbed it the same way she did earlier.
Suddenly an overflow of boldness came over Riri. Riri draped her arms around Shuris neck "Ok well you go shower I'll be at your door at 6" Riri told Shuri like it was a question but she knew she wasn't asking.
Shuri, now becoming flustered, is pretending to look off at something but Riri isn't having it. She cupped Shuris chin and moved it towards her so that now they would be making eye contact.
"You heard me my love?" Riri asked with a devious grin on her face.
"Mhm" Shuri barely muttered. She was at a loss for words.
"Good, I'll see you at 6" Riri said as she walked away.
Shuri stood there trying to collect herself. Riri had never been so assertive with her before, and Riri never referred to her as "my love" of course they've told each other "I love you" but my love was a pet name unfamiliar to Shuri. She didn't have a problem with it though in fact she liked it alot. She liked Riri a lot. Shuri knew that if she stood there any longer thinking about her feelings for Riri she would be there till the next day. So instead Shuri cleaned up the lab then shortly after headed upstairs to get ready for her evening with Riri.
Tumblr media
Riri had changed into some black sweatpants and a white wife beater. It was now 6. Riri was walking down the palace hall that led to Shuris room. When she got there Shuri was already dressed and sitting on her bed toying with her keymo beads. Riri walked in without warning but Shuri knew before Riri walked in that it was her based on the scent of coco butter lotion that lingered in the air.
"You ready?" Riri asked as she reached out her hand to Shuri.
"Yeah" Shuri responded as she grabbed Riri’s hand.
Hands still intertwined The pair walked down to the entrance of the palace and left to begin their walk.
Most of the people of wakanda had been inside preparing for dinner. There were a few children outside playing different games. They whispered things such as "Queen Shuri is on a date with her girlfriend." Which made Shuri blush. Riri was pretty quite so far. Shuri felt how much tension was in the air so she spoke up first.
Shuri turned to Riri "So Riri, I bet wakanda is kind of like a second home for you now with you being here quite often" Shuri joked awkwardly.
"I mean most would think that but wakanda is so breathtaking. It's like I'm experiencing it for the first time all over again every time I come" Riri notioned while her eyes explored the beautiful scenery of wakanda.
"While it is beautiful, sometimes I need a change of scenery, maybe I can visit you in Chicago more often?" Shuri asked.
"Yeah but just know I'm getting you your own bed, you sleep wild as hell" Riri and Shuri both laughed in unison.
Riri and Shuri had wandered so far into the kingdom that now they were approaching a cliff ledge. It was getting late and the sun was starting to set.
"It's getting late, we should head back now" Shuri stated.
"Why be in your lab all night when you could the sun set with me, come on Shuri you know you want to" Riri begged with a quivering lip.
"Ok fine but when we get bac-"
Riri yanked Shuri by her hand before she could finish her sentence "Oh come on girl."
Shuri and Riri both sat down on the ledge of the cliff.
"Isn't this better than rotting in your lab all day" Riri smugly asked.
"Yes, it is" Shuri rolled her eyes while grinning. "But you still never explained to me why you were in a rush earlier. and I know when you're lying Riri so it was definitely more than just wanting to spend time with me" Shuri pried, hoping to get some answers.
Riri now had an opportunity. She could stay quiet about her feelings or admit that she has feelings for Shuri.
"I was tryna tell you something earlier actually, well really I've been trying to tell you since I got here." Riri explained anxiously.
"Well go ahead, I'm listening" Shuri assured.
"I like you Shuri, I like you so much. My knees go weak whenever I'm around you and my heart starts skipping beats." Riri started. "You understand me on a level that nobody else has ever taken the time to understand me on. You're such a loving and compassionate person Shuri, and I love you so so much." Riri professed.
"Riri words can't even describe how much I care for you and love you. I've had feelings for you since I walked through your dorm room the first time we met. I've kept quiet because I didn't want to ruin our friendship" Shuri explained.
"I wish you would've said something sooner. I been trying my best to drop hits this whole time" Riri laughed.
Shuri reached out for Riris chin the same way Riri did to her earlier that day.
"Well we're here now and everything's been said" Shuri said with a look of hunger in her eyes as she slowly inched closer to Riri’s lips.
"If you wanna kiss me just say that" Riri’s eye's hanging low as she wore the same hunger in eye's that Shuri had .
Their lips gently pressed against one another's. They kissed slowly and passionately as if they were in no Rush to leave where they were seated. Riri’s hands clung to Shuris neck as the kiss grew more intense. Riri broke away from the kiss trying to come up for air.
"don't you think We should move this indoors?" Riri giggled.
"I'm going to get one of the ships to pick us up, walking is gonna talk too long" Shuri told Riri as she went to kiss her again.

So now I can't stop thinking about poly Daniel and Amanda with a older first time mom! Reader who shows up to the dealership trying to find a new car for her and the baby.
She wants to trade in her old car because she needs to upgrade, and plus she can't fit in the front seat because her baby bump has gotten so big and the car is too small for her. She's super nervous about the whole thing because not only is she pregnant but she's never gone to an actual dealership to buy a car before.
And Amanda and Daniel notice her right away👀
I can't stop thinking about it now!!!😭🙏

@sensei-venus (unedited, unfiltered thoughts)
Your mind- 🥰
😓 my mind, I got a migrain between working on this one so it's not my best work
Tumblr media
She walks around the dealership so confused. There's so much more there than she was anticipating and she doesn't know what to do. She's not hard to miss with her big, swelling belly and pretty face. Amanda and Daniel decide they're going to work with her, walking up with big smiles on their faces. They introduce themselves and shake her hand, which makes Reader giggle. She tells them she recognizes Daniel from his commercials and immediately puts her hand back on her belly.
When they ask her what she's doing there, she explains the situation. She tells them she needs a new car because her belly is too big and her car is too small. It's also not a good car for a baby. They catch on to the fact that she doesn't have a partner, she doesn't so much as mention one. Amanda laments about how it must be hard to get too and from work so big and pregnant, and Reader laugh again and explains she's working from home. It's the appointments and the store that she struggles to get to.
"It's so hard getting all the baby's things. I mean, I don't even have a crib because I can't fit it in my tiny car. That's why I was hoping to trade it in? It's practically brand new, I've only had it a few years, and the milage is still good," she tells them, hoping to sell it to them. She doesn't realize she doesn't have to, she doesn't see the way that they look at her or the looks they give each other when she looks down. "I've never wrecked it, never had a problem with it. I think the resell value would be pretty good."
"Oh, you don't worry about that," Amanda says, gently touching her arm. It's a comforting gesture because she shouldn't have to worry about stuff like that, especially heavily pregnant. She offers Reader her arm. "Let's walk outside and take a look at your car."
So they take a walk outside and Daniel takes a look at Reader's car, but him and Amanda already know they're going to take the car. How can they not? She's in obvious need of a new car, she can't drive herself and a baby in this small thing. So while Daniel is checking it out, Amanda is telling her about how things are going to work when she trades it in.
They take her inside to do some paperwork and let her rest her feet. Instead of taking her around to look at cars, they show her some on the computer. Amanda is sitting a little close, her voice nice and low and tender. Daniel is sitting on her other side, explaining all the great thing about each car and how good they'll be for baby car seats and what not. They're so sweet to her and she has no idea that they typically don't help customers this much. They sell cars all the time, sure, but it's never this up close and personal.
She takes to it very nicely, though. She's so appreciative of their help and she can't thank them enough. She looks so cute to them, they tell her that she doesn't have to the k them at all. They're just doing their jobs after all, but she insists that she should thank them in some way, since they've been so patient with her...

Bumpferkleef (Tailgating)
Tumblr media
There’s a certain illusion of privacy to driving. We’re confined in our little rolling boxes as we try to get where we’re going as quickly as possible despite the interference of all those other boxes. It’s easy to dehumanize the other drivers, whom we’re not likely to see outside their vehicles. So, when the insulated world within our cars is invaded, it can be particularly terrifying. That worked well for Steven Spielberg with DUEL (1971) and to an extent for Robert Harmon with THE HITCHER (1988) and John Dahl with JOY RIDE (2001), and Dutch writer-director Lodewijk Crijns gets a lot of milage (forgive the pun) out of it in his BUMPFERKLEEF (2019, Shudder as TAILGATING). Things are already toxic as Hans (Jeroen Spitzenberger) drives his wife (Anniek Pheifer) and two daughters to his mother’s house for the weekend. The children squabble, the parents squabble, and Hans is already teaching his daughters to hate themselves for being women. Then he gets stuck behind a white van traveling the speed limit in the left-hand lane and goes ballistic. Since the driver (Willem de Wolf) is a psycho who already took out a cyclist with a mouthful of caustic insecticide, that’s probably not the best move. De Wolf proceeds to torment the family, first demanding an apology and then going after them. Crijns builds tension really well, and the film is beautifully edited. There’s also a very effective makeup job creating the welts raised by exposure to the insecticide. That may be too sadistic for some, particularly with two young children caught between their parents and the killer. But it’s also wicked fun as the situation gradually strips Hans of all bravado and reduces him to a near infantile state as the toxic male comes face to face with genuine toxicity. Spitzenberger manages to be both obnoxious and sympathetic, and de Wolf, who looks like just another nondescript middle-aged man, knows just how far to go to make his character threatening without being ridiculous.

It really does genuinely make me so fucking mad tho
I will never be in favor of getting rid of roads and personal automotive vehicles in return for public transport.
At the cusp of more ubiquitous fission and nuclear fusion power, at the dawn of batteries with a big enough charge and enough kilowattage to meet the milage of a petroleum combustion engine, when we can drive our entire lives and not produce a liter of carbon dioxide, you really think giving up cars would be a good idea?
When we can end heat island effects in urban areas, keep our personal property and conveyance in simple, cheap, very easy to maintain electric vehicles, you want to REMOVE personal transport to load us up like sardines in tins, just to go where the routes take us, on the schedule of society?
And then half you half-wits will whine about how the bus or train gives you anxiety so you shouldn’t have to use it and society should then cater to you for your anxiety by air delivering everything to you at home. How dare society, our horrible, capitalist, patriarchal society, force you to participate in a bus or train, like cattle. When people like you today will just source the whining of people like you tomorrow, who’ll blame THAT shit on capitalism and white people, somehow. Bugger that public transport is seen as a very left-wing solution, the problems that crop up from it will miraculously somehow be capitalism’s fault and corporatism’s power.
The best case scenario, what SHOULD happen, is the only big change is we no longer use gasoline or diesel fuel; we use batteries. Quick charging, many cycle recharging batteries. And effectively pay nickles for every dollar gasoline used to run us, to no pollution from their use. Then we can all travel for an absolute pittance and commute and go across the whole US on the cheap.
Do you realize how liberating that would be? Being able to go a magnitude more in miles on a whim, rather than paying tens of thousands of dollars to go around?
But no. Instead we get the greedy ideologues that think those automotive drivers should fork over dough the government can redistribute to other shit they don’t need to be doing. And then embezzle. Or spend on a bunch of redundant workers, that do nothing but justify expenditure of more money for federal programs.. that arbitrarily value and empower federal workers.
So they changed what would’ve been charging taxes on nickles, to just charging electric car drivers based on the miles they drive.
The price of fuel now no longer is tied to the reality of how expensive the gasoline or fuel industry is, now it’s purely tied to government greed. Absolutely arbitrary and handwaved not based on objective markets, but subjective wants.
Fuck the idea that the middle class would take those savings that would’ve gone to very expensive chemical fuel and is now saved by using electricty, and reinvest them into themselves; instead, punish them for not using public transport by making them pay for the people that want to use it, or whatever else they want someone else to finance. Fuck those families. Fuck those commuters. Fuck those truckers. Fuck people that just want to drive from Texas to Massachusetts for less than ten thousand dollars in diesel plus taxes. Can’t let the workhorse peasants migrate around too much; their range of travel needs to have sufficient blood drawn every few miles to keep them from amassing too much personal autonomy.
You know why Russia is having such a difficult time invading Ukraine? They’re hyper-dependent on rail to transport shit, and neither Ukraine nor Russia really invested much in roads. You know why the US invested so heavily in the highway system?
Because highways and cars are not only very economic, but strategic, and conducive to personal freedoms. Russia is very top-down loaded. And the Soviet Union was, too. When you needed papers to move between each socialist republic and no free travel between states, like they were separate countries.
And as we’re approaching the crown jewel of car technology, a vehicle that doesn’t produce chemical exhaust and damage or deplete the atmosphere with emissions, you deceptive shits take the gloves off and now don’t want to tolerate cars at all. It was never about the pollution to some of you, it was just like punishing someone and ostracizing them, because they couldn’t help but to fart. The reality was you just don’t like the person and it didn’t matter if they found a way to eliminate the stated problem from the equation. It just served to make your dislike of something, the fault of the the thing you dislike. And not just your personal distate.
You’re the kind of people that would demand flying cars only be accessible by the wealthy, specifically to charge them an arm and a leg for the privilege, while bemoaning how flying cars are a luxury only the wealthy can afford, due to the taxes and insurance involved in legally flying.

Where to ski in Europe with my Wife ?
Ok you’ve got a tricky dilemma here. A wife in tow and while you love the ski season she isn’t so keen on getting cold and expending all the physical energy all week just to stay warm and with a distinct lack of on slope shopping your are in trouble..
So you have always wanted to ski Europe but where to go for some great skiing and still keep your wife entertained.
If you followed my earlier blog post for where to ski in Europe you will know there are lots of great choices to satisfy your love of skiing. But adding into the equation some entertainment narrows the choices down somewhat but still there are some great options.
I am going to try and combine the best skiing with some shopping, historic towns, and some amazing classic hotels.
Tignes Val d’Isere Ski Painting
As I am only a poor artist travelling on a meagre budget I will not be able to help much in the choice of expensive hotels at the more luxurious end of the market but I am sure booking.com will help out there. Some are so luxurious I can feel my wallet emptying just by looking at them.
First I would count out France as while the skiing is excellent in the incredible purpose built resorts and huge ski areas, these are all from the 1970’s and really don’t have a lot to do in the days and evenings. 2 exceptions could be Megeve and Morzine but I would not put them very high up the list.
However one place in France does make the list. As part of a trip you could look at Chamonix with its lovely historic centre and a little more off the slopes entertainment. This place is just dripping in mountain atmosphere, history, mountain guides, ski touring, epic off piste. So if it happens to fit in, this is a great place to start but the skiing areas are not linked and it’s a bit of a pain to get around so for skiing it doesn’t score top marks. One plus of this place is you can go through the Mt Blanc tunnel to Italy to ski Courmayeur and your wife can have a days shopping in Italy all on the same pass and you can sample the wonderful cuisine of Italy and smiling hospitality. The next bonus is the pass can be linked into Verbier which I will go into next. Verbier is not far by car and again puts in a day shopping in Switzerland and is a stunning drive through Argentiere (my favourite ski area in the Chamonix Valley) and over the mountain pass.
Ski Art Prints Killington Ski Painting Snowdon Chair
The best picks of the bunch I think though to keep your wife entertained are in Switzerland. So we have 3 places which stand out really well here.
First lets go to Verbier. This links to Chamonix. It’s not the best choice for history and shopping, but it’s in the mix because, if you get powder this place is the best off piste in Europe without a guide and also with a guide even better. It’s an incredible ski area so you will loose some points here but if you can call in if powder is in the air then its worth the gamble. Verbier town is ok with a good selection of expensive shops and lots of bars and restaurants so there is something there to help you wife entertain herself but really this place is there for the off piste. Combine this with Chamonix which is another off piste mecca but Chamonix really needs a guide as its a tricky place to find your way round the off piste but there are some classic itineraries. You can do a day trip to Verbier from Chamonix if your wife has is booked into a lovely spar for the day.
Here is my number one choice, Zermatt. It ticks all the ski boxes, high altitude, large glacier, plenty of lifts and milage. Add in the Italian resort of Cervinia over the Swiss Italian border up on the glacier you even get the bonus of amazing Italian food, coffee and smiling Italian service. The link to Italy is a bit weather dependent and isn’t always open but when it is that’s a lot of fun getting into Italy and find a few hidden stashes of powder. Zermatt town itself is car free which is a bonus and the centre is steeped in history with some quite incredible historic old hotels and restaurants. Your wife can even take the mountain train up to the observatory in a nice warm carriage and meet you for lunch on the way up. You can call in at Millan or Zurich on the way over from the states to stock up on expensive shopping if you really want to break the bank. Zermatt can be linked in with St Moritz. Its not that close but there is a classic train journey called the Glacier Express which can take you there.
Zell am See Ski Painting of the Zell Lake
If you are travelling just with your wife then one of the best options in Switzerland is the trains travel. There are some amazing train routes and the train stations are right inside the airport. You can arrange to have your bags sent on separately to you so you can enjoy the train trip with just your day bag.
Number 2 on my list would be Wengen, Grinlewald and Murren, Interlaken. The skiing here and size of ski area is second best to Zermatt but its still pretty good. The shopping and entertainment are a little bit less too. But this is a romantic getaway if ever there was one. Its not sexy but it is just ever so special. While in France you can travel all day around these mega resorts on skis visiting tiny little mountain restaurants and villages for some incredible lunches and clock up some ski miles. But Wengen takes a bit of the effort out and slows you down to a slow Waltz. You can travel far and wide for lunch on your skis. Yes you ski but not too much. Yes there are a few steep pistes but not too many. And yes you can travel a long way on your skis but trains and cable cars take up some of the slack as you rattle and rumble along in some historic transport in a nice warm carriage.
Ski Prints and Ski Posters Top 10
First you arrive at Interlaken on the lake for a romantic stay but no skiing there, its just the warm up. And then a little way further on to Lauterbrunnen where you take the train or drop the car off in the valley. Then you take mountain train up to Wengen which hangs on the edge of the valley under the Eiger, quite spectacular. From Wengen you can now start skiing. The mountain train heads to the top of the mountain. At the top of the mountain while you can ski your wife has the option of going over the top and down to the village Grindlewald on the other side of the Eiger for her morning coffee or even more incredible take the next stage of the mountain railway which climbs up inside the Eiger mountain to the observatory at the top, all in a heated Swiss railway carriage with a bar, coffee and a shop never far away. The next adventure which involves a couple of trains and cable cars takes you to historic Murren which is a scenic trip part on skis and part on lifts so lots of scenery and miles but not too much effort.
3rd on the list is St Moritz which is a very classic choice to take your wife. This is where ski glamour was invented and its a fabulous town. This place probably has the most to do of any of the European ski areas especially if you can cope with the high life with horse racing on the lake, art galleries in abundance and major exhibitions, unbelievable hotels and the list goes on. St Moritz is the place to stay for sure. The skiing is good but not as good as Zermatt and definitely not as good as Verbier. When I went there I combined it with Davos for the world economic Forum and traveled from Zurich by train which itself is a classic train trip on the Glacier Express. Or try Zermatt to St Moritz and take in the full Glacier Express 8hr trip. If you combined these 2 resorts then I think you would be onto a winner. But the romance in me says don’t miss our Wengen. And then my off piste love affair says please don’t miss Verbier. You could do all four in the car and add in Chamonix, its possible, but I think on the trains more than 2 resorts would get a bit tedious if you had to change trains too much.
Storm Peak North Ski Painting at Steamboat
There are lots of other incredible old towns to ski in Switzerland but these are my favourite 2 for very different reasons. You can combine the 2 into a trip as they are only 3 hours apart by car and that would for me be an unbelievable trip.
Austria also has some classic old towns set around some great ski areas with possibly Zell am See fitting the bill but I am not so familiar with Austria so I am going to leave this out as I can’t think of anywhere which matches Switzerland for this type of trip. But having said that I can’t help mention St Anton in Austria, which if it just happened to be on the way it would be a real shame not to call in. The original off piste capital of Austria with some epic routes, a few luxury hotels in what is a quite large ski area. And maybe your wife could rediscover her past in the mountain apres ski scene which in Austria is something of an unusual beast. Lots of drinking after the skiing finishes, dancing on the tables, a mix of old 80’s rock and Euro pop…. and yes you can imagine a lot of people have a hell of a time getting back to their hotel.
Zermatt Matterhorn Ski Painting and Poster
There is one more ski area which does fit into this category of wife skiing but its a real long shot. I am including it for a very special reason and that is Venice. The ski resort is not top of the list for skiing but if there is snow its pretty good but not great. Its real bonus for skiing is the absolutely huge ski circuit in the Dolomiti ski area over 1200km of ski runs. So this place has a few of the ingredients but they just don’t quite fit quite so well together. First if you fly from the UK you fly to Venice airport and straight from the airport you can get a river taxi direct to your romantic hotel in Venice….fantastic. From Venice a 2 hr bus takes you to Cortina perfect. So a couple of days to ski Cortina, maybe 3. A week is just about doable skiing here also. The skiing areas are not well linked so a bit of time gets taken up here. The town doesn’t have the attractions of Wengen, St Moritz or Zermatt but it’s got a historic charm in the centre. Its called the St Moritz of Italy but it doesn;t have such a large amount of off piste entertainment. The bonus of this ski area is of course it’s huge but Cortina is not the best resort to explore it from as it doesn’t link in that well to the main ski circuit but there are taxis which will link it up. The ski areas are high but some of the skiing in the circuit isn’t . So this ski resort has some good plus points and its scenery really is stunning, but the reason it’s on the list is Venice which might earn you some great bonus points. Its too much to add in here but this puts you 4 hours from St Moritz (then onto Zurich) which does have an interesting town and also 2 hours from Innsbruk and 3 hours from St Anton the off piste capital of Austrian and my favourite ski area in Austria.
Vintage Ski Posters The Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche Zermatt Ski art available as ski prints and ski posters
So my choice for a single resort is Zermatt to keep it simple but these side trips could make for a more interesting trip especially off to Wengen or St Moritz each with their own special element. Chamonix and Verbier are a bit of a further side trip but of more interest to the off piste skier and Cortina and the Dolomites probably the most spectacular mountain scenery and twinned with Venice stunningly beautiful but for skiers it’s not the best choice.
Hope this all helps. If you need it warm as well then try March, but that means probably no powder. February is busy and can get powder but then that’s a bit colder. January is quieter but can be cold.

not my roomie who literally volunteered to DD venmo requesting everyone who went out $5 (5 people she drove in total) like girl drive 8 miles at best that night no way one night of driving is going to be $25 💀
If she needs that much money for driving what, 20 minutes each way maybe? she needs a better car because that gas milage is atrocious and probably awful for the environment

Since I was wee tiny little girl I LOVED Volkswagen Beetles. Something about their shape and quirkiness just drew me in from the start. But in the 90s, they only had the classic old style ones from the 50s, 60s and 70s. But I loved them and they were quirky and my dad said if you want something bad enough you will find a way to achieve it.
2008, age 21, I stumbled into a steal of a deal. "Bug" was the best car for a young girl in college just cruising with friends. The first loan I ever got on my own (besides student debt) and it was by far the greatest car.
Tumblr media
Until some foolish kid delivering a BMW from dealership repair service to its owner was not paying attention to traffic stopped on the highway and slammed full speed 60+mph into the back of me on my 25th birthday. The paramedics and my friends kept telling me to stop moving but I was in hysterics over the damage of my car. I still have her front emblem and 1 key fob on my bookshelf.
Volkswagen Beetles are not cheep anymore. They have skyrocketed in price especially since they were discontinued in 2019 which makes the supply less then the demand. But even before, they are a hot commodity and a low-key sportscar (if convertible) keeping their price always just out of reach for a recent college graduate struggling in the working world. Ten years, one accident, and two boring cars later, my current car was dying prematurely from a faulty turbo engine (never buy turbo) and I needed a new car. Nothing I looked at was satisfying. Day by day my car was dying and the milage was piling up and trade-in value decreasing. But I knew what I wanted even if I couldn't afford it. Mum kept saying "you can't hold out, you gotta just bite the bullet and find something you like". So I once again opened up CarGurus at lunch to scroll one last time through the endless over priced Beetles i couldn't afford before resigning myself to a reasonably prices midsized SUV or large sedan to haul my two dogs in.
Tumblr media
Thats when I saw her. Same age as my current car but far less milage and far superior. She almost seemed to reach out of the phone and grab at me. I scrolled the details, he carfax, the photos and sent an email. The appointment was set, I gathered my paperwork, cleaned my current car and drove the 40 miles to meet her. It was love at first drive. She was perfect. Everything I was looking for. It'll came back; the rush, the thrill, the memories. An old commercial quote came to mind and I laughed as I pulled into a parking lot to test the roof and check under the hood.
Two hours later I was signing on (many) bottom lines and shaking (many) hands after haggling prices. Hard work busting my ass to rebuild my credit to excellent status and getting an amazing job that pays meh enough to afford her. I cried on my way home. I'm pretty certain my mom cried, too. I haven't stopped smiling and its been 6 days.
Welcome home Bauble.

Why Your Car Needs Tune-Ups
Why Your Car Requires Tune-Ups
5280 Mobile Mechanic
You’ve heard about routine car tune-ups, but how often do you actually get them? This week, I’m going to tell you why you NEED to get them done regularly.
If your engine is old, you may not realize it until you need an oil change. The symptoms of engine problems don't always show up right away, and it may be too late before the problem becomes noticeable. With routine car tune-ups, you can catch the warning signs when they occur, so you can avoid serious engine damage.
Schedule a car tune-up now.
Avoid Expensive Repairs
Do you have a routine check-up schedule for your car? Are you making sure your spark plugs, tires, and belts are in good condition? If not, maybe it's time for a routine tune-up.
Are you like most drivers, and you think your car just needs a thorough wash? Do you skip the brake job? Do you wonder if you can get away without getting your tires rotated? Well, you’re missing out. Routine maintenance can go a long way toward helping you save money and time in the long run.
Here are four benefits of routine car maintenance:
It can help identify small problems before they turn into big problems.
It’s a lot easier to detect these problems than a major repair.
Small repairs often cost less than major repairs.
They can prevent major problems from occurring.
They can actually save you money.
You'll Be Safer
When was the last time you had a tire inspection? Do you need to bring your vehicle into our shop? We can help. Our service department will check all the major moving parts of your car and will tell you if there’s anything we need to know about before you leave. Don’t waste time waiting for a visit from an auto mechanic! Our tire inspections are affordable and convenient. Schedule yours today.
No Break Downs
There are many reasons your car could break down on the side of the road. The best way to prevent a disaster is to have a skilled, ASE-certified technician inspect all of your vehicle’s parts and systems on a regular basis. We’ll check your air filter, battery, transmission fluid level, and the condition of all belts, pumps, and hoses and recommend a repair if anything catches our attention.
Many people think their vehicle’s engine is just fine, but the reality is, your engine could be making a lot of noise that goes unnoticed by most drivers. It could also be sending a message to your mechanic that something is wrong with your engine. Don’t wait until your engine breaks down on the side of the road.
Get More Milage From Your Car
Your car is more than just a vehicle you use to get to work, school, or to take your kids to the beach – it’s an investment. You can protect yourself from the financial turmoil of having to replace your engine or buy a new car by getting routine tune-ups. Plus, regular maintenance improves your fuel economy, which will save you even more money at the gas pump. But let’s face it, when it comes to cars, you don’t always pay attention to the small details.
It can cost up to $1,000 or more for an oil change. But regular maintenance is a smart way to keep your car running efficiently and save you money.
Let’s face it. Your car isn’t going to last forever
You’ve taken the time to drive safely, keep it well-maintained, and take it to the mechanic every few months. But there are times when it just stops running right, and you’re left stranded without a way to get home or even to work.
Your local mechanic can provide a full-service maintenance program. This ensures that your car will run like a champ. Your local mechanic can also do simple, routine things like changing the oil, rotating the tires, flushing the fluids, and checking the battery. So, if you want to make sure your car keeps running, check out what we can do for you.

Get A Good Deal With These Car Buying Tips
Car shopping is something which almost all adults will face in their lives. If you want to drive, you'll have to buy yourself a car. The simple ideas below will help you turn the car buying process into something you not only can handle, but that you are a master of. Before you leave to buy a car, you have to know certain things about what you need. What can you afford? How many passengers do you need to drive around? You will need to know the gas milage that is acceptable for your budget. Are you a fan of four doors or a two door coupe? Get it all down on paper, and bring it with you when shopping so that you don't forget. Always ask the seller if they are willing to let you do a test drive. While some private sellers may not offer you the chance to do a test drive, there are many that will. You should try to do your deal with someone who will allow you to see how the car runs. Take a good look at the underside of the vehicle. Try to keep your eyes peeled for signs of rust and erosion. A car can look great on the outside, but be falling apart underneath. If you see rust under the vehicle move on. This could mean a lot of repairs later on. Scour the Internet for the best deals. You can literally save thousands by searching online. If you find a car you like, you can ask your dealership if they can obtain it for you to buy. Find the closest reliable dealership to save money on gas. Before buying a used car from a dealership, ask to have it looked over by a third-party mechanic. If a dealer will not let you bring your own mechanic, go somewhere else. A mechanic will be able to give you an impartial opinion and alert you to any warning signs such as evidence of a wreck or being flooded. If you are going to be purchasing a used car, one of the top things you should be looking at is the mileage of the car. As nice as a car may be, if it has 150,000 miles on it already, you probably will not get much use out of it. When buying a new car, check out reviews of the vehicle on the internet before going to the dealer. If people have had bad experiences with the car you are thinking of buying, you might want to choose a different one. Most new car loans are for 6 years and you do not want to have problems with the car in that time frame. Shopping for a new car can seem complicated when it comes to pricing. Take your iPad or phone with you to the dealer. You can search the Internet and find car payment calculators that will let you know what your payment is going to be without having to rely on the dealer. When buying a compact or subcompact car, make sure that it has enough room for each person who will drive it. The car may be your daily driver, but it may not have enough leg room for others in your household. If there is a chance that someone else will drive the car occasionally, bring them along while shopping. truck hire auckland than one car before you buy it. Any new car is going to feel fantastic if you're used to driving an old one. Think seriously about how the ride feels, where the buttons are located, and how much of the road you are able to see. Test-driving more than one car will help you realize where you want to be. Figure out how much you can afford on a car payment before you get there. If you wait, your eyes will be big, and you will be willing to pay anything to get what you want. Start out with a firm figure and do not allow yourself to be moved by anything the salesman says. Once you tilt the car shopping experience in your favor, the whole situation becomes easy and fun, too. These tips allow you to change the balance, giving yourself the power over the salesperson. In the end, this will help you get a price you can afford on a car you adore.
