In light of... a lot of things going on this week, I've been thinking about Canada and how much I love it. And folks who know me well know that political discussion about Canada vs the US.. well let's just say it doesn't bring out the best in me (i absolutely hate facebook right now). So I decided to focus on everything I like about my country rather than everything I don't like about others. I like how annoyingly polite we are (I really do), I like our hospitality and kindness, our scenery and vast variety of outdoor terrain, the oceans forever being my favourite. I love the easy going temperament of east coasters and diverse cultures and styles of the west coast. I love soooo many things about this country. I love seeing new places but I am beyond blessed and could never fully express how grateful I am to be born and raised in such a place. So. All that being said, my fellow Canadians, if the label doesn't say "Made in Canada", put it back. Support this country. The weight of our problems do not lie on only our leaders' shoulders. It's on all of us to look after ourselves. I've seen this quote pop up several times in the last few months and each time I saw it I wanted to draw it, but for whatever reason I held back. Be it guilt for folks who have seasonal depression or just depression in general, I felt it was kinda touchy. But I kept seeing it and it continued to resonate with me. I've always loved all the seasons, I love having that change to look forward to. I love being able to hunker down and snuggle up in the winter or enjoy the sunshine and sea in the summer or the sound of rain on a roof. All that aside, when you wake in the morning, have things in your life that mean so much to you that the colour of the sky outside doesn't affect it. Love and appreciate everything around you.
