#in all seriousness this is a very difficult question I'll be real #there are a lot of episodes i adore and a lot i think are really important? #baseline everyone should watch trouble with tribbles even if they never watch another episode #but i like showing journey to babel to my friends and freaking out. #but that's just TOS! #there are so many tng eps people should watch (data episodes mostly lmao) and the entirety of ds9 is just. augh. #i think my serious answer despite it all would be the first ep of ds9 actually though. ik it's a two parter #but it's just such a beautiful introduction to what might be the best show I've ever seen #and the topics it touches on are handled phenomenally
