So, I am an adult.

At some point in life most adults usually accquire travel luggage/a suitcase for a variety of possible needs/reasons, if at all.

And.

My first suitcase purchase as an adult is squishmallow themed.

And I regret nothing.

#is it childsized? yes. however. it also comes with a squishmallow as a backpack. its a travel set. #something something healing my inner child via allowing myself silly pleasures i'd never really got to keep from my childhood #squishmallows are a special type of hyperfixation for my adult self bc i discovered them as a senior in highschool #and atm i had discovered i still had a deep need to hold things that allowed me to sleep better but most stuffed animals were too lumpy #and theyre bright and colorful and soft and really really comforting #so yeah. no regrets. just because i am an adult doesnt mean i gotta buy dull boring 'adult' things #also theres nothing like laying on a giant squishmallow with a weighted blanket and feeling everything without any of the weightlessness

I MEAN #but would it work……i do not know #it just seems weird that bras attach the top strap anchor to the underband which makes the shoulder strap carry the weight of both straps #like I know the underband is meant to carry weight #but it NEVER DOES. #NO BC HIKING IS MY FAVE THING #and i love remote places!! mountains!! forests!! #and so many of these places cant be reached in one day. so i must backpack #this would be a very expensive hobby for me just to get the gear i need to not die..... #like yes theres cheap stuff out there but like. i am so small and weak that the only way i can carry all my own stuff #is if i go in with the fancy ultralight expensive stuff #because i just physically couldnt carry the rest #i did go backpacking last december and enough time has passed that i can now say i had fun #but my bag was wayyy too heavy for me and not suited to my body shape (straps didnt fit me right and put undue stress on me and bruised me) #and that was when i was only carrying half my stuff...my dad carried the other major things #so. expensive hobby! #anyway i get a $125 REI giftcard yearly as a health insurance perk so. one year at a time babey #according to percentages my pack would have to weight between 13-18lbs so as to not overload me. #and ultralight backpacker is less than 10lbs base weight #therefore the remaining 3-8lbs for me would be water and food #otherwise i would NOT be able to carry it

The Mechanic is missing. 

The weight in Maria’s backpack feels heavier than ever, though it carries less than it has in the preceding days. He had warned them of the Aukes from the first: their aggression, and how the last thread of civility between them was as fine as spider’s silk (though he hadn’t used such a flowery metaphor at the time). Still, Maria had not expected for it to be so truly fragile - yet here they are, forced to defend themselves from the Aukes’ attacks and in search of a vanished friend.

“I hope it works,” Maria murmurs softly. Draped across one arm and beneath the other, she carries a folded old cloth she’d taken from their base. Even after repeated shakings, it still retains the scent of dust-- more than once, she has had to press a hand to her face and stifle a sneeze-- but the most important part is its white color. 

Not that she is well-versed in the finer aspects of war; that is the dominion of her siblings, having grown in a far different cage than she. Then again, she can only hope that the people here know it as she does: vaguely, yet inexorably tied with the want for peace. 

Her heart thrums as the three of them walk quietly through this broken land, where life grows not boldly, but in secret, stolen between the cracks of soot and stone. Perhaps this is a fool’s mission-- no doubt Michalis would have words about this endeavor-- but if they could only stop this fighting and turn their efforts towards living... the prize will have been worth the price.
