Daily Reminder, Day Nine —

❝ A h e m. ❞

She had knocked, like always, before entering the man's study, a folded piece of paper in her lightly shaky hands.

❝ Lord Richter, for your reminder today, I thought over your request from a few days back. It was unfair of me to back out like that, when you had been so kind as to let me sit for a while in your study. ❞

❝ Soーー ❞

Unfolding the paper, she held a copy of the sonnet lightly, ready to read it aloud, finally, to the best of her ability.

❝ ーーIf you would still like to hear it, I hope I can make it up to you by reciting it tonight.❞

Resting the pen he was currently using on his desk, Richter turned his full attention to his usual as she entered his office, eyeing the paper she held in her hands with slight curiosity.

❝ Hm?❞

At the mention of her sonnet though, he couldn’t help but let his lips curl up into a faint, teasing smirk. Sure, he had proposed having her read it to him at a later date, but who knew that day would come so soon. And without him needing to pester her even more, no less.

❝ Hm. . . Would I like to hear it? After all, you made quite the fuss about reading it to me the first time; I’m not sure I’m in the mood to hear it right now. ❞

An obvious tease; He’d welcome her words with open ears, considering he found her way with words to be surprisingly impressive— And of course, endearing, considering they were directed at him.

❝ I jest—❞

Resting his elbows upon the surface of his desk, he intertwined his fingers to serve as a chin rest for him to steady himself on. He watched her intently, focusing every ounce of his attention onto her, in order not to miss a single detail.

❝ — Whenever your ready, I would like to hear you read what you’ve written. And don’t think I’ll let you run away so easily if you decide to back out.❞

Daily Reminder, Day Four —

❝ Knock, knock, fufu. I'm here once again, just as I finished drafting your special reminder for today. Please, go ahead... It's all yours to read; I overheard you were a poet, so I thought you might appreciate this sonnet I wrote...〜 ❞

Akin to iced moonlight swaying o’er Whispered waves surfacing the pale seascape, His cheeks; ne’er as burnt as crimson clovers, Unblemish’d, un-kiss’d, though his love agape. Blood so dry, deep, doth His irises burn; Engulfed by dying embers of passion For one who gives nought, yet still does He yearn, Yet Her clemency’s cruel ― His soul, ashen. In spite, with Monarchical grace and will, May He oppose His foes, triumph ordain’d; If sought, apace with Him will she stand ‘til The last sunset stains all amber, curtain’d. Though she is not Her, and not Her is she, Separate she loves Him, a pure love it be.

Whenever he glanced upon from the page, it's already too late. She - red face and all - has disappeared, not to be seen again until tomorrow.

(( this is cringey uggghhhh i wrote this whole sonnet >< but the second half of it kind of fell apart i feel T-T ANYWAY WHINNN!! Please only answer this whenever you feel up to it! I won't send anymore after this until you're feeling better and you're back, because I don't want to clog your inbox!! Please take care of yourself, ily ♥️ ))

((hello yes i’m finally answering this and i just gotta say: richter move over it’s my turn to receive a sonnet from ava 🙄🙄 nah but ava you wrote. a whole ass sonnet. FOR THIS MAN??? man he’s so lucky rn. and it was so good 😭😭😭. AND DW. you can send in your daily reminders whenever you feel like :)). i’m a bit slower on replying. but feel free to send stuff in still!! ily ♥️ ))

❝ Well now. You’ve written an entire piece, all for me? I do hope you’ve done your best, or I may just critique this work of yours.❞

The man held the poem in his hands, eyes scanning over each line carefully in order to get the most out of what was written. Richter would dare say he was a bit impressed with what he was given, yet the only indication be dared to give being the slight raise of his eyebrows.

Yet when he went to look back up, his little admirer was gone. What a pity, leaving before he had the chance to respond like that. He couldn’t help but sigh as a response, his features softening up as he looked at the poem once more.

❝ How cruel… Making me wait like this…❞

Folding the paper delicately, he slipped it into his pocket. He’ll keep this one safe…

The man eyed you for a moment, before letting an exhausted sigh leave his lips. He certainly didn’t have the energy to refute your comment, instead letting a tired, but content expression fall onto his face.

❝ I can assume to hear your praise again tomorrow, yes? Perhaps then you’ll be kind enough to give me more than just your ‘daily compliment’…❞

Daily Reminder, Day Ten —

The human didn't have anything special planned today; No flowers, no poems, no real speech at all. She wasn't in the best of a mood to put anything together last minute, admittedly, however she would never forgive herself if she missed a single reminder.

❝ Lord Richter? ❞

❝ I hope you're keeping well this afternoon. . . Here I am again, of course, reminding you - as the handsome and dedicated man you are - are deeply appreciated by a number of people. ❞

❝ So please don't go impailing yourself on any tower peaks, or gouging out your own eyes, for our sake- ❞

❝ Hm? I suppose it’s been a normal afternoon. Have you been taking care of yourself? After all your daily visits have reached the double digits by today, haven’t they? ❞

He wouldn’t admit it, but he had gotten used to the other popping in to see him every day. So much so that he’d subconsciously been keep count of the days that have gone by. Even anxiously awaiting her visits— No. No he wasn’t excited for them; the woman’s presence at this time exactly had simply become a part of his day. It would be odd for that to change. That’s all.

❝ Deeply appreciated, hm? Are you one of these people who thinks of me so intimately? . . I suppose I could say so, giving how diligent you’ve been with providing me with such affection for ten days in a row now— ❞

The man’s lips curled up— an appreciative smile on his face this time.

❝‘The world owes you nothing short of returning to you the affection and admiration you, yourself, have - without fail - siphoned off elsewhere’— That’s what you told me, isn’t it? So surely this same sentiment extends to yourself, as well? ❞

Daily Reminder, Day Seven —

❝ Good morning, Lord Richter-- Here I am, with a little gift once again. I figured those flowers might be starting to wilt, so I made sure to cut and wrap these myself for you. ❞

Today she had arrived with a second bouquet, one of red carnations, a little more vibrant than the last bunch but still well suited for his favoured darker interior.

❝ It's been a week thus far. . . But don't think I plan on stopping any time soon, hehe. Same time, tomorrow? ❞

❝ It has been a week, hasn’t it? And yet you’ve shown up every day, without fail. I commend you.❞

The man was rather tired today, or at least more than usual. So he couldn’t help but let his lips curl just a bit once she walked through his door, and bearing another gift for him no less.

Leaning forward in his chair, he let his arms rest comfortably on the desk, before speaking again.

❝ You cut and wrapped those all for me? My… You’ll come in to swap them out then, I presume? After all, it’d be a shame for me to let your hard work go to waste if I handle them incorrectly. ❞

Raising a hand to motion for her to come inside, it seemed as if he was calmer; more comfortable than he was on the first day. She didn’t have to stay for a chat, just the few moments of exchanging old flowers for new ones was enough.

❝ The same time tomorrow, as long as you intend to continue this streak of yours of course. ❞

Almost if the previous reminder never happened, the woman appeared at the door of his study, once again.

Knock, knock.

❝ You don't need to let me in this morning, if you're busy, Lord Richter. But, these are daily reminders so, here is your sixth one about how tenderhearted and swoon-inducing you are. ❞

Funny, she seemed to have no problem confessing that much compared to yesterday, now, did she? To be fair, though, it did come out a little quicker than usual, this time.

❝ Sincerely. . . Do remember that you are deeply treasured. ❞

Once he heard the familiar knock, his attention was turned towards the door of his study, any thought of what he was currently working on pushed to the side temporarily. He was surprised that she had come back so consistently, especially after the events of the previous reminder.

❝ ‘Tenderhearted’… Goodness, now what could I have done to make you think of me so nicely?❞

Richter certainly didn’t dislike the descriptors. Especially when the other went on to say he was deeply treasured. Hell, if she keeps on, he may begin to feel spoiled.

With a contempt expression, he made her an offer just as he had done the day before.

❝ You’re always so quick to scurry away… You’ve already made your way here, so why not have a seat with me? I’ll do my best not to put so you on edge this time around. ❞

She tapped lightly at the door to his study, peeking her head around the door, left ajar. She didn't have anything like flowers, nor a poem, to present to him today. . . but, she wasn't going to let that break her daily streak.

❝ Here I am again, with your reminder - as per usual. Whatever path you take in the world, and whatever you do, please know I'm cheering you on from the sidelines. You deserve nothing short of a 'happy ending', happiness and all. ❞

At the sound of knocking, the quill in the man’s hand was placed down, his arms coming to rest on the desk comfortability as he leaned himself forward a bit to greet his guest.

❝ Welcome back. I do hope you intend on not running off early this time.❞

Holding out one of his hands, he beckoned the other to one of the lounge chairs in the room. He still wasn’t completely used to receiving such consistent affection from another person, especially without begging for it. So he wasn’t exactly keen on letting her slip away from him again so easily.

❝ ‘Nothing short of a happy ending’ you say… So that means you have no objection to spending a bit of time with me should I suggest, right? ❞

Daily Reminder, Day Three —

"Here I am once again, as per usual, to dote upoーー er... remind you of your unrivalled grace and looks. Bu~t with a little something extra, too, since you did ask for it..."

She presents the older gentlemen a neatly wrapped bouquet of red dahlias - She had almost gone for yellow, to bring a little bit of a livelier colour to his home, yet, she didn't wish to intrude too much, so soon. Red, she decided, seemed an appropriate compromise.

"When you ask for more than a compliment, you ought to be specific; You're leaving the details up to me, where I am to decide how much, or how little, can appropriately be considered 'more'."

"So, I hope these will suffice for today, hehe... Although, don't be too disappointed, if you are; As I know you're a man of words, I have something more personal planned for tomorrow's reminder."

Richter was more prepared for her entrance, now that he’s aware she intends to show herself everyday. Yet he didn’t expect her to take him this seriously when he mentioned giving him more than simple compliments.

Taking the dahlias in his hand, he held them with care— Definitely grateful that the colour managed to fit in with the already dark aesthetic of his home.

❝ ‘More’ means exactly what I said, no? If I had been more specific, who knows if you would have put this much thought into pleasing me.❞

Eying the flowers for a moment longer, his eyes fell clothes with thought. It wasn’t too bad, to be doted on like this— Or simply ‘reminded’, as she liked to call it. He would dare to go as far as to call it nice… At the mention of him being disappointed with today’s behaviour though, a contempt sigh left him through his nose and the corners of his mouth tugged upwards.

❝ ‘Something more personal’, hm? Only if I claim to be disappointed in today’s efforts, you’ll try even harder tomorrow? In that case… I suppose you could have done more today… And I will be awaiting your plans tomorrow. ❞
