it's crazy to me how people now actually think it's progressive to sexually degrade random men by emasculating them and then further emasculate them if they dare to be uncomfortable with being sexually harrassed

is anybody else weirded out by aesthetic sketchbooks? like that's your diary. that's your practice.
you're supposed to have ugly pages because it's a record of your proggress
idk ig there's nothing wrong with it, but I feel like it's not good that so many young artists are trying to keep even their private practice spaces clean and consumable

I need all of you to understand that if you are intentionally *hurting someone to feel more powerful, you are abusing that person
I've seen way too many posts recently saying like "sure, it's not productive, but it can be empowering and therapeutic to get your anger out" Yeah, that is abuse.
making someone feel lesser so that you can feel more powerful is what abusers do. that's why they do it. nobody wakes up in the morning rubbing their hands together, stroking their beard, planning all the evil abusive things they're going to do today. yhey just do those things because it's cathartic and empowering
you can be abusive, yes you, even if you're oppressed, even if they have privilege over you, even if you're a woman, even if they're bigger and stronger than you, even if it's "just a joke," even if you think they shouldn't be upset because it's a stupid thing to be upset about. it doesn't matter. you're not uniquely harmless.
some of you guys are turning into your parents shockingly quick
*I don't specifically mean physically hurting someone. I mean doing anything against another person's consent. this post is not about kink. as long as you've negotiated and are using safewords, there is no problem with beating someone up for fun

I really love when I see a post that's like "okay transandrophobia obviously doesn't exist but we need to address that there is oppression targeted specifically towards transmascs" just really highlights that most people who don't believe in transandrophobia have no idea what the word actually means

Tumblr media
actually the way I see it it's more like this
trans men: I am afraid of cis people, I am continually made to feel lesser in the presence of cis women, cis men, and other trans people, I feel unsafe, I feel uncomfortable, I constantly experience systemic misogyny and transphobia that not only limits me in my career - it makes me fear for my bodily autonomy and my rights in my country
this fucking guy: I can't believe you don't like that people hate you -you should hear the way I shit talk you lol
can we please stop pretending that women can never hurt men? can we stop pretending women are always more oppressed than men? because that assumption is cisnormative.
actually I find it really interesting that bodily autonomy was brought up here, since you would assume that a good little progressive tumblr user would be aware of how little control trans men have over our own bodies. the term bodily autonomy comes up a lot nowadays with row v wade being overturned. did you know trans men could be denied abortions and other "women's healthcare" even before the overturning? did you know that testosterone is a level III controlled substance? did you know that, like all trans people, trans men have to get a shrink to verify that they're not hysterical self hating autistic little girls just to make our own decisions about our bodies (decisions that cis people -including cis women- are allowed to make at a whim) but yeah no totally we're complaining about nothing we're not oppressed like women are

there is something so baffling about seeing blogs on my dash who reblog anti-terf posts all day, suddenly reblog something that is clearly transphobic
like that post about how "let men be masculine" is obviously such a stupid statement because that's not a real problem you dummies!!! as if there aren't men just like me who live and die in the closet because of the social consequences of being masculine
if you hear the word "men" and your brain autocorrects it to "cishet men," you are a bigot. if you exclude queer men from manhood, you are a bigot. if you don't even think of queer men for one second before you make a statement about "how men are," you are a bigot. in fact, if you think that you can make a true statement about how all men are, you are a biological essentialist and a bigot.

genuinely curious what the emasculating random men thing was about, specifically? as in i haven't noticed that happening much, please could you point out some examples or say what prompted it?
anything done with the goal of making a man feel like less of a man, or not masculine
nothing specific prompted it, it's just kind of the background noise of life as a queer man
people are constantly making fun of me for being too short, or too thin (note: I mean non-muscular, fat people of all genders face wayyy more bullying than thin people and I don't want to overshadow that) or just the general shape of my body. I've even been made to feel feminine and ashamed for having anxiety
I was once told I "look like a bottom" and when I asked what they meant they started listing off my trans features. I (correctly) said they were being transphobic, they laughed, because the concept that it was transphobic for them to assign me a social role because of my body was comical to them. I told them I was uncomfortable, they laughed again, which is actually normal to me at this point. before I came out as a man people took my discomfort seriously, but at this point, I don't even bother to say when I'm uncomfortable because it's just going to be made into a joke at my expense, because it's emasculating to be uncomfortable and degendering men is funny to people
