so apparently i romanced gale?!? HOW?!? I've been trying not to talk to him too much and choose the tamest dialogue options and yet he attacked nalfein after they made things official with astarion like 'sure would have been nice to be told in advance' or whatever like my guy just because someone's nice to you doesn't mean they wanna be with you LIKE THAT omg

finished bg3 so spoilers for the ending below

soooo that was like 160 hours of major enjoyment with a pretty big let down right at the finish line 💀 it wasn't terrible but it was decidedly very "meh"

I was a bit ambivalent on the whole ~becoming an illithid to defeat the elder brain~ bc I just made orpheus do it lol so it was kinda dumb but I didn't really care

final fight against the brain wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't the best battle of the game either (cazador, raphael, ketheric, gobbo camp, and the iron crown were my favorites). biggest complaint was that your summons... die permanently? I summoned my owlbear thinking it'd be like scratch but no it actually DIED??? I reloaded and said fuck it to any summons I actually cared about and just used yurgir and rolan's airstrike, bc I didn't want to risk them dying :(

but whaaat in the actual heck was that concluding scene???

1) I had karlach die bc I've heard the ending scene w ur love interest is bugged if you don't and she just DISINTEGRATED??? I thought the scene after we killed gortash was waaay more emotionally impactful, the ending didn't really match it in terms of quality. I actually was feeling ok about her death bc I like tragedy (thane lover here) but after watching it I didn't feel much beyond shock

2) what a bad ending scene for poor astarion? I got his romance bit at the end which was admittedly cute but if you didn't have that? he starts to burn, runs off, and nobody seemed bothered by it? just "I doubt we'll see him again anytime soon" like we wouldn't go after him??? to at least say a proper goodbye, not just "so long and good riddance"?? again, just zero emotional impact, which is frustrating bc his scenes carried the most emotional weight in the rest of the game imo

3) why did shart not get any dialogue.... why did fucking minsc of all people, who was in my party for all of 3 quests before the end, get stuff to say but not the girl who's been with me from the beginning? jaheira and halsin got stuff to say too, just generic comments about saving the city?? and there was no recognition that I was in a romance with halsin so that was just a dead end

4) I had a bug where anyone not in my immediate party would show their hats no matter what so most of my party was wearing stupid dumb hats for these "emotional" scenes

5) didn't have a chance to un-wildshape orpheus so he was a fucking displacer beast for the final scene and I had no clue what was happening with him except watching his paws bend in funny ways 🤪

still definitely loved the game, still excited to replay it, but gods above i hope they fix that crap ending. I think its pretty obvious they ran outta time and just slapped something together

at least the power of my imagination will carry me through. can wish spells cure vampirism lmao??? my tav is bard so he just has to stay on that adventuring grind for a few more levels til he can learn it 🥴👌
