This is my biggest Astrophytum. The generic name is derived from the Greek words "astron", meaning star, and "phyton", meaning plant. Known for their beauty, these are quite popular among domestic cacti for their flowering habit; their flowers are usually yellow or white. Some also have distinctive white flecks on their bodies. Many of these cacti are prized especially by the Japanese. Showing some love for this Astrophytum goofball. This little guy has been with me for years now and it grows EXTREMELY slow, but so far I managed to keep it alive and well 😆🌿❤️👍🏼. There are many variations of Astrophytum myriostigma, some have a single rib, some have three (like this one), and some have four or even five.
