What do you think would happen if Alice had fallen into Cradle with her child? I’m particularly curious about Sirius and Luka OwO

in general i’d say the presence of the mother-child combination in cradle would (rather, should) raise the tension higher because two people from the land of reason = two people who can repel magic, yeehaw. i think that gives the magic tower more incentive to be aggressive point blank bc 1) two magic repellers = greater chances of world domination plans being thwarted, 2) on the other hand they will make excellent test subjects, 3) them being blood-related + different ages (and possibly genders) opens more avenues for varied forms of experimentation, and 4) more ways to enter the land of reason, hella rad.

there’s probably more but morbid thoughts aside... here’s some general scenarios!

sirius:

he grew up having lotsa siblings + if you count the black army as the whole he’s raised a lot of brats lmao, so alice having a kid doesn’t faze him the slightest!

in the prologue where ray ends up catching alice, sirius ends up catching her kid instead. thinks the kid’s five years old or something. sirius is about to ask the child some basic questions, but the kid suddenly points to a running blanc so whoops. before the strange pair go rushing after blanc, kid says a thank you, mister! and that earns immediate brownie points because the! kid! called! me! mister! and sirius proceeds to make that veeeery clear to ray lol. maybe to fenrir and seth too, later.

so after all the prologue drama, alice & the kid formally introduce themselves as mother & child to the black army. there’s a few murmurs of reallys and awwws because tbh alice looked rather young to be a mother but oh well. it doesn’t change sirius’ welcoming and accommodating approach, though he keeps more tabs on the child because honestly...

a young child in the barracks... where there’s a stocked armory + shiny magic crystals... ridiculous brats - ehem, grown men prone to showing off + creating trouble... yeah. though it’s really not a hassle on sirius’ part to somewhat act like a babysitter, he gets to suffer being teased about nonsense like paternal instincts coming to life in full force lol!

though seriously speaking, he’s very careful not to ask / bring up the biggest subject of them all: alice’s husband (if there’s even one to speak of, ooh). on the kiddo’s side of course, it’s already hard enough that someone so young suddenly ends up in a strange place + gets their mother and themselves threatened by a whole goddamn army (sirius, to lancelot: i stg what are u doing???) + has to live out a whole month in a new environment all of a sudden, so he believes the least that he & the black army can do is keep the child comfortable enough so that the feeling of fear would be lessened, get a sense of comfort going on. sirius definitely can’t blame the kiddo if they start crying out for their father/home though - though he knows it’s not his fault + can’t do anything much, he’ll feel bad about the fact that he can’t do much for the child’s homesickness.

he’s not going to broach the topic on alice either - if alice wanted to talk, then he’d do his best to listen. if she didn’t then he wouldn’t dare ask, it’s a very personal topic after all. who was he to pry into her personal matters when she + her child would be leaving in a month???

so picture this: he did say he’ll help watching over the kid, but there’s not much to do bc her child is good enough. what a little angel, polite and curious and quiet. maybe a little too quiet, withdrawn??? hmmm. either way, the child didn’t seem too (pro)active. or was playful the term sirius was looking for?

like sure, there’s the loud laughs for stupid antics, answers when talked to, smiles and walks around the barracks on their own but... more often than not, the child keeps close to alice or is just around her general line of sight. separation anxiety, maybe??? that’s natural, so okay. or maybe it’s alice who’s always hovering around her child??? either way, there’s nothing odd about that, but upon longer observation...

the kid is just... really responsible / really loves their mom??? alice watering the plants??? quickly looks for another watering can / gets a bucket of water to refill the can with. general cleaning or laundry??? puts a hold on whatever they were doing, rolls up sleeves, gets ready to do some work. prep work for dinner??? peeling’s a bit wonky, but they’re doing their best while trying not to cut themselves...

this strikes off as a bit funny to sirius, because wow, they really are related. where alice is quick to offer her help on all sorts of tasks in the barracks, her child is just a step behind her, little hands willing to do some work. on some tasks, alice does tell her kid that she’ll be alright doing it on her own, but her kid insists doing it alongside her anyway. and that there, that’s a very alice thing to do, too. sirius - heck, maybe the black army would know that by now as well, lol, considering how alice flutters around the barracks looking for something to do if she’s not having some alone time + private time with her child.

though, as much as the help was appreciated... it doesn’t sit well with sirius that the mother & child are spending most of their hours working rather than enjoying themselves in cradle. he thinks it’s a shame, especially for the kid. back when sirius was younger, he would...... then he’d go to....... and then sometimes he’d.............

.... right. if the guests wouldn’t relax themselves, then sirius would take it upon himself to show them a good time. it doesn’t have to be through big events, it doesn’t have to be everyday, it doesn’t need to be through fancy or expensive gifts either...... if only just to see both of them smile more often, then it’s definitely worth the time thinking about.

more bonus points if he’d get to see alice’s kid start acting like... well, a child! while there’s nothing wrong with being responsible or wanting to help, a kid should definitely experience all sorts of things, explore what they can, and most of all, enjoy themselves.

that’s what it means to be young, and alice should do the same as well... being in cradle is their adventure, after all! they’re not completely unrelated to the war but..... if anything else, sirius wants to fulfill the black army’s promise of precting them until the full moon comes around, and when that day comes.... he hopes the two have made a ton of good memories of their stay in cradle.

......... funny that this guy’s thinking about how make the two relax when he can’t even stop and do that for himself lmaooooo

luka:

lol he starts off the same as he’s always been in most routes: shying away + nothing much to say to the parent/child combo now suddenly under their wing.

though, he does keep watch of their eating habits on the first days of their stay: alice eats anything + everything so that’s a relief, she’s adjusting. now if only he can say the same for her child....

imagine alice’s kid still being uncomfortable & cranky a few days in cradle + black army company, refuses to eat much even though his mom’s urging him to. breaks into a tantrum one day, saying that i wanna eat mama’s cooking instead! or something similar for everyone in the dining room to hear before storming out. ooh. there’s a brief silence - most stares land on luka, who isn’t really offended.

..... well, okay, so maybe it did sting a little bit. alice apologizes to luka before going away to calm her kid down. fenrir + ray tell him not to worry about it, seth + sirius muse about the kid feeling all homesick / sensitive. cue other soldiers saying something about puberty (whut lol). or y’know, kids being kids.

luka tries thinking about the kid’s situation for a bit. away from home, living in a whole new environment, surrounded by a whole lot of other people with attitudes and faces way different from those around at home... huh. that kinda sounds like himself in a way, except that the away from home bit on luka’s part was a voluntary choice.

having realized that, luka has a better guess of what the kid might be feeling. overwhelmed, definitely. from a very hostile welcome with handcuffs + the red army carrying the threat of death, suddenly being surrounded by the kindness of the black army is a total 360. must feel unreal, suspicious, even. the sight of real weapons around, the existence of magic and all that, unknowingly having a power so strong the whole country fears it. sounds like too much too process for a child.

..... alright, but looking at alice’s kid being unfriendly + clingy to alice 24/7 + being such a crybaby also reminds luka of... uh, himself, when he was younger. not to his own mother, but to... well, jonah, ugh. it’s not an easy pill to swallow (it takes grudging acceptance), but at least luka gets to know why he always felt some pang of irritation looking at the child.

so the next time the kid starts crying over something/causes trouble for alice, luka surprises everyone in the room by taking the initiative to scold the kid for acting so selfish. tough call, by the way - the child is wow, stubborn as hell + likes to keep the waterworks going while screaming; luka’s got a pretty good idea of what he wants to say but is having trouble getting it across properly and in a less menancing manner, so in short its a mess. witnesses ray blackwell + fenrir godspeed find the whole scene sorta funny though, much support lol.

alice wants to cut in, but sirius + seth tell her to leave it to luka, who seems to be winning since her kid’s running out of energy from crying & shouting at the same time. luka seems to be calming down too, because his tone + volume + facial expression is getting less stern. this seemed like a good time to mosey out of the scene so sirius ushers the audience to go away lmao, even the worried mother (who, decides to eavesdrop instead. no one has the heart to pull her away... so they hover around the doorway with her too.)

not arguing with luka anymore, the upset kid starts to babble of nightmares about the scary men in red with their sharp swords, not wanting to sleep because maybe when they close their eyes mama might suddenly be gone and they’re all alone, the scary feeling of losing mama to strangers, and the list goes on and on. its a collection of fears + worries of a child, and luka’s patient enough to listen. in fact, he smiles wryly when there’s mentions of monsters under the bed: it’s embarrasing, but luka used to cry over that too.

... seeing the kid bawl their eyes out like this, luka really is reminded of his younger self. the clinginess, sudden outbursts, the fear of maybe one day, they’ll be left behind and will be all alone. luka might be speculating the kid’s feelings, but more than anyone else, luka would be the closest one who could relate to what the kid was going through because.......... he acted that way towards jonah, back when they were younger.

he wonders if they’ve mentioned any of this to alice, even if just the smallest of their fears. he wonders how long they’ve been bothered over those fears, if they’ve been sleeping well at night. with all those questions in his mind, luka’s not so sure what to say; how to comfort the child.

he still tries though, even if his words come out a bit clumsy, even if the kid’s still sniffling all the way through the process. it’s a quiet moment, one that lasts till the child has cried themselves to sleep. they just stay that way for awhile, the kid resting their head on luka’s arm, until luka decides to carry the child back to their room........ alice must be worried.

..... she is, actually. when she and luka talk, she keeps quiet of her eavesdropping. luka doesn’t tell her everything either, because he believed that some of the things they talked about are better said by the kid themselves rather than him relaying the message to alice.

there’s nothing much to say after that, so luka goes on his way. alice says a very sincere thank you before he goes. she... has a lot of other things to say other than just that, but.... maybe another time. maybe when she’s plucked up the courage.

anyway, after all that alice’s kid seems to have gotten off their... spoiled phase, lol. still a little clingy to alice, but is getting less prickly + talking to others now. most notable development though, is if the child isn’t around their mother......... they could be seen hanging around luka.

.......... cue comments on how heartwarming it is to see a young child tottering around luka like a little duckling. luka does not appreciate the teasing. especially when it comes from seth + fenrir because why are their grins so big??????? but he doesn’t say anything against the kid following him around lol.

Why do you like Ikerev's MC so much? Not hating on her (or you!) but she's written to be so dumb/naive on most routes 🤔

hiya and LMAOOO no worries there anon - i agree that she’s written to be rather dumb/naive in most routes that it gets frustrating! can’t blame other players for disliking her for that reason... ah, the fate of a generic jp otoge protagonist... (゜▽゜;)

so as to why i like her despite that... i think this has to do with the fact that i’m not keen on self-inserting and neither am i a fan of the ‘become the mc’ when it comes to otomes or just vns in general. i treat the mc/protagonist as an actual character in the game and i want to see them get some character development + grow too throughout a route/course of the story.

so even if ikerev’s mc has a lot of the typical ‘kind heroine’ traits, i guess she grew on me because cybird gave her enough of an identity for me to recognize + appreciate??? while she’s consistently kind/naive/dense, thank goodness that there are the differences in her personality + mindset in each route, both preset & a result of route events & interactions. at least that’s some proof that there’s some effort into writing her, bless. sure, the dumb can be really hard to ignore (she got it bad in some routes, ouch) + she isn’t super assertive/strong/smart as a heroine but she can be endearing in her own way, especially when her characterization/development happens to complement or even contrast well with that of her love interest’s.

Not sure if you're open to Ikerev ramblings in general but... gotta be honest I just finished Ray's route and I gotta say it's sorta underwhelming for a poster boy route. Can I ask whay story points do you think Cybird could've focused on in his route?

hiya and it’s alright, i’m open for discussion! Ψ(ﾟ∀ﾟ)Ψ sorry for the late reply tho ahaha;;;

oh, sorry to hear that, anon! (*ﾟﾛﾟ) hopefully reading other routes can appeal to you better??? honestly i do think they could’ve done more on ray’s route too, but at the same time he’s part of the four ‘starter’ routes so i believe that narrowed his plot potential down a notch...... i think that sort of makes sense if they’re trying to get you invested in the overarching storyline???

like, reveal a little of this and that, buuuut not so much as to leave more coverage material/perspectives for other routes to get more exposition on...... then the rest would focus on the ikeman’s development + romance + unique conflict???? admittedly though, that sounds good in theory but harder to do in practice that’s fit into a total of 27 mobage chapters ┐(‘～`;)┌ (and especially if cybird’s scenario writers aren’t coordinating/different throughout routes.)

additionally..... a significant plot point in ray’s route, the day that went dark, is touched up by only two other routes so far, namely fenrir’s & kyle’s..... so...... aha........... this is a very important event that had a heavy impact on these three & their character arcs, are we not getting more info about this again?? no?????? not even a sliver of foreshadowing/passing mention/explanation???? okay then......

anyway... i think it would be interesting if:

note that alice admits of being afraid of cradle + ray. he himself tells her to look the other way then till the full moon comes. from that point on..... alice seems to be taking his words to heart???? say that sirius (or the other three) do try to do something about the odd air between ray + alice, but the attempts aren’t working so well/smoothly - in fact, it carries out the opposite effect, making alice more unsure about ray & ray slowly getting frustrated about wanting to do something about alice’s jittery attitude, but doesn’t have the slightest clue on how to approach her properly without scaring her any further. i guess the point of interest here would be: without the encouragement of sirius/seth/fenrir who helped & encouraged alice to see ray in a different light in the actual storyline, how would have their relationship/dynamic progressed if alice or better yet, ray took the initiative to clear up the air (that he messed up in the first place)?

alice gets to learn that ray’s a magic user through the magic tower kidnapping attempt....... but what if that instance went awry???? like, for someone who refused to use their magic ever since its discovery, you’d think ray would have zero to no control of his powers - though maybe after the day went dark he was secretly taught to control his powers and after that training, he decided never to use it again....... so anyway, what if, during the time alice was cornered, ray couldn’t reach out to her in time + is about to witness her about to be killed and as a result, he’s unable to control himself and uses his powers by accident??? if it results into the disciples of magic crumpling to the ground like rocks (not dead, gosh what rating is this game again) + alice gaping at ray in shock, slightly injured with little cuts because of the sudden wave of magic + ray entering his the day that went dark bsod upon seeing what he did.... what would happen from that point on?

the deal relationship if put into actual effect, lol. like, it comes up occasionally in the route but it’s obvious that they’re just words and not actual binding. now, this would greatly alter the route as ray making the deal an actual thing™ would come off as ooc considering his actual personality as you see in his route, but what if there was a do or die situation involved, some unavoidable circumstance that would trigger conflict early and that has alice joining the fray? have a test/showcase of ray’s capabilities as a king.... with a pressing major problem as the war goes on: as willing as alice is to use her powers for their cause, why does the urge to stop her grow stronger each time she goes to the battlefield??? is it the guilt of saying that ‘we’ll protect you’ when in the end, he’s exposing her to more risk??? or is it because he’s seen her out there pushing herself too far, doing everything and anything to make sure no one gets hurt; looking eerily similar to himself in his younger days post the day that went dark??? or is it because of the constant nagging of the others getting to him now, telling him to take alice away from the vanguard and only to appear when absolutely necessary????

......... bottom line bonus question he strangely can’t bring himself to answer: was he worried about her as alice the second, the one that he, as the king of spades, decided to make a deal with...... or her as her own person, the girl who said that she wanted to understand him, and the world he lives in?

???????? C-C-CHILD???? what child???? whose child???

In a tower with a spire so high that it dares to pierce the sky, there is a single door in the highest floor that leads to a room that might as well had been built with books - they are everywhere: in stacks and in shelves and in drawers, spines perched on the sole windowsill and occupying the bed, scattered on the floor or scaling as high as the ceiling. Unknown to most, that room has a resident: little prince, Dalim calls the young boy with a flighty temper and a rather ungrateful mouth - he visits the little prince once a month, bathes and clothes him and also does the honors of brushing his unruly hair before they set out for their destination, as they have always done since he was only three years old. The tower’s dungeons have never known proper warmth but maybe they do now, only when the little prince with his braided purple hair and bright blue eyes rushes over to the room of his mother with open arms and a smile - she, unmoving with her sunken cheeks and glassy eyes, suddenly bursts to life too and he’s left alone in the shadows to stare in silence; at the little prince and the princess he had failed to save oh so long ago.

Oh, such was the joy of being an intricately made dessert; to be crafted into perfection and served in a saucer of fine porcelain, to be gazed upon with an appreciative reverence and to be consumed with the utmost care and precision! She can’t help but let out a sigh, watching how his smile blooms with each neat slice he slips into his mouth - was that the only thing that could make him happy beyond compare, puts all his defenses at ease and allows to him truly smile from the heart? A grudging resignation settling into her stomach the longer she watches him eat (blast it, she’s staring at his smile again), she spears at a portion of her pancakes with a hearty vigor and proceeded to do so for the next five minutes - hmph, she thinks as she chewed at the bread, you’re not the only one who becomes happy when they eat something sweet!

It's obvious that you're a red army stan, but what do you feel about the black army? Do you stan anyone?

oh, i do like them - to me, the ba carries the image of an ideal army. one that accepts people from all walks of life, values skill over rank / title, has a hierarchy of power but seems to hold a solid relationship of both respect + trust between those above and those below with no signs of abuse or discontent present, manages to stand united and true by their banner / purpose. but i guess what’s most definitive for me is that while they are an army first, they are found family second - they cut loose, feel comfortable enough amongst themselves, act stupid in various levels, get into boyish fights + ridiculous arguments. that’s camaraderie for you, and it seems to work well with them.

i did say that they appear ideal, but it’s actually nice to learn that in each route of the five you learn that isn’t the case when it comes to the reasons for fighting / joining. like, yeah, perhaps there’s some commonality to their motivations around; but there’s a definite selfish/shortsighted angle to it somewhere. makes them seem less ideal, more human and relatable to an extent. a non-cast example would be that one soldier that challenges ray for the king position in ray’s route - the determination to protect his family is admirable, yes, but it seems rather dubious if he also took into account that by being king, he will take into his shoulders the burden of fighting a war and its possible aftermaths. it’s not just some title that holds weight during a war and vanishes afterwards - its a great responsibility that lasts, whether through victory or defeat. it’s just that his drive & pressure to protect his family is greater than everything else that he fails to grasp the full picture.

now for the ba five: in my opinion, fenrir’s probably the closest you’ll get to a selfless reason for joining - there’s some agenda there, but not as heavy as the other four. ray’s next, but he’s a far second considering his past + burdens. sirius himself downright admits that his reasons for being in the army are selfish, what a guy. rather than being spurned on by external motivation/life-changing event, luka’s reasons for joining the army are more personal than the rest. seth... well... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

as for the stanning.... i don’t have an absolute favorite, but i will tell you that junichi suwabe (bless him) as sirius’ va was one of the solid arguments that convinced me to pick up ikerev, lmao. i prefer writing them as a whole or by twos, but individually ray’s the one i write most out of the five. most of my ikerev pieces are set in-verse, but oddly enough i tend to write fenrir + seth on aus more. i’m so-so on luka as a character, but him being red-to-black + a high-ranker on the chosen thirteen really leads to thinking about interesting scenarios.

Drinking sessions with little girls like her would always end up being such a pain (literally and figuratively), mainly because a) there would always be terrible estimates on tolerance, b) obvious signs of drunkenness would be persistently shrugged off by flimsy “I’m fine!”s, c) an increase in talkativeness that he really wished - “Maaaybe,” she slurs rather loudly, one finger of hers wobbly raised to point up at the stars, “you could build a train! Oh, but not just aaaany train - build a train that fliies!” After saying that she abruptly lays down on the grass with a thump and a lopsided grin on her face, and there isn’t much Oliver can do but take a much needed deep breath before repeating, “... A train that flies.” “Oh, don’t you look so stiff! Isn’t that a fun idea and something helpful for Cradle to boot!?”

hi hi!!! ( ´ ▽ ` )ﾉ mmm… i try not to expect something out of an unreleased route (bc most of the time i am horribly betrayed lmao) but there are loads of stuff i hope to see! forgive me for being rambly tho haha!

mousse. i actually have no idea what to expect from his route but what i do know is that his current position as a diplomat bothers me in a lot of ways lmao! but anyway… naturally we should be getting details on why he left the red army in the first place, so maybe on that side i do wish we’d get more insight on the workings of the red army, i guess? not that i’m expecting something super detailed or anything (tho it would be great if cybird feeds us with details), but for starters, maybe something more concerning the chosen bloodline - for instance, how did it come to be that for the red army, those thirteen certain families are the only ones strictly allowed to fill in that one position in the chosen ranks??? do relatives or family branch members count??? additionally, is mousse the first case of someone stepping down / refusing to take over their designated rank??? i’d like to think that he isn’t, but then again i maybe wrong???

alternatively… maybe mousse’s route could fill in some bit of cradle lore too? lmao i mean he is a diplomat and alice is a ‘visitor’, so he’s the best suitor to fit in the role of a tour guide. maybe a little more idea on how cradle works as an actual country, bc god i can’t even imagine how it functions properly. who knows, maybe he actually knows about that abandoned building in the forbidden forest + why it’s there in the first place. maybe he can actually elaborate the background of the goddamn 500 year conflict. if he actually does, bless my soul.

on relationships… while mousse is neutral but a former red, i imagine we’ll be seeing more of the ra guys rather than the ba, maybe… that’s fine with me since i’m interested in learning more about his relationship with lancelot, and maybe how he interacts with kyle + edgar since we already have a general idea of how he is around jonah + zero. but since the neutral faction has increased now, i’d like it if most of his interactions would involve more of his fellow neutrals. they need more screentime.

and finally, romantically… man, that ‘love at first sight… or is it?’ bit on his profile really gets me. oh, i will be ridiculously happy if that whole ‘love at first sight’ thing is interpreted as just sheer interest on mousse’s part. he’s in love with the visitor from the land of reason, with alice the second who hails from the same land as the first alice. he’s in love with the thought of her, a person who lives in a world so different from his own…but has he ever seen alice the second as the woman she is, as another human being??? this is probably unlikely to happen as mousse doesn’t seem too cold as a character but OOOOHHHHH I’D LOVE TO HAVE A TWIST（○□○）

tl;dr: a focus on red army history / more expository stuff on cradle. a toss between mousse interacting with the ra + neutrals, preferrably more of the latter. if cybird pulls a surprising twist / interpretation on mousse’s ‘love at first sight’ for alice, then i will LIVE.

dean. for starters, i’d like a little more understanding on how the boarding school he works in operates haha… i get it’s open to all regardless of status (red/black, noble/commoner maybe?), but what type of school is it, is it a regular one or a military academy of sorts??? if it’s a military type, to what extent are the students trained - basic combat/magic or are there advanced classes or all that shebang??? from what age are you able to enroll in it??? who runs it??? probably someone from the neutral faction / government itself but seriously speaking, is this the only school available in cradle??? if you’re wondering why i think that, i just find it odd that two different factions that have been in constant conflict still send their kids to study in that one school where anyone and everyone is accepted… i’d imagine the red side isn’t so happy about this more than the black side is, but maaaybe it’s a government-mandated / treaty / pact thing??? tbh i’m still on the fence on those ideas since there’s a lot more questions that would arise from that but… yeah. just… details, pls _(:3」∠)_ oh, more bonus points if we get more info about the day everything went dark!

anyway… dean being a professor appears underwhelming but it’s pretty interesting to take into account that he probably trained all(?) of them army suitors so… personally i’d be interested if there’s your teacher vs. student(s) fight scenes lmao. preferrably with dean still able to hold his own. bonus points if he taunts his opponent in the process with words like ‘i see you’ve forgotten your fundamentals’ or something haha! even more bonus points if we get dean/alice fighting the forces of evil magic disciples together!!! oh, that would be so good.

it would be fun if dean’s the type to subtly poke his former students with their dark history past mistakes when he sees them / needs them to settle down or smth. maybe he has dirt on someone like luka (and no, it isn’t about him feeding birds on the rooftop lmao). maybe he’s the only one who can make sirius & lancelot feel nervous easily, holy shit. but again, as dean’s a neutral, i’d prefer his interactions to involve more of his fellow neutrals. especially dalim. though that might be a given considering their relationship. i will greatly appreciate seeing more of the tweedle twins dynamic. even more if it turns out that the main conflict/antagonist of their individual routes happens not to be amon, but their other half and it’s not because of alice. AHHHHHH ( ･ᴗ･̥̥̥ )

idk what dynamic they’re gonna shoot for with dean & alice, but i do hope it doesn’t give off your ‘teacher-student’ vibes aha…… considering how dean’s personality appears so far though, i’d like to think that a slow burn would be fitting for them…? maybe something similar to lancelot’s where the conflict is given more focus than the romance itself.

tl;dr: background on the school + the day everything went dark. teacher vs. student(s) fight scenes + dean/alice fighting duo. dean being lolz evulz to his former students. tweedle twins drama, bless. if dean/alice gives off the teacher-student dynamic, well… can’t say i didn’t see that coming.

dalim. oh boy, while i’m trying hard not to expect anything for now, i can’t help but pray for something good with dalim. i think he has the best potential among the new three since he’s only (or first) suitor in an actual antagonistic position - he knows it, he accepts it, and he’s still going with it. if cybird handwaves a redemption arc for him thru the flimsy power of kira-kira labu (or friendship), i will be very, very, very disappointed. seriously.

anyway, there’s a lot of question marks surrounding him that i want answered but of course, more dirt on the magic tower. perhaps whatever details about the tower that they failed to address in harr’s route they can add + elaborate here, though i really wouldn’t mind knowing more nitty gritty on the human experimentation bit. then there’s the matter about the regression magic he developed. though maybe all before that detailed stuff, maybe some background about how dalim came to be a magic disciple would be good. and how and why he manages a pub on the side. origin stories are a must.

not gonna lie though - i’m more interested in his social life, his relationship with amon the first priority. how long has he known amon, did he approach amon or was it the other way around, when did he start serving amon, do amon and he have similar goals, how ‘loyal’ is he to amon, was he already amon’s subordinate when amon killed his father, did he help amon kill his father, why does he even serve such a guy in the first place... yeah, all that and more. hopefully those are going to be addressed. then there’s dean... if dalim’s goals + ambitions are purely for the sake of his older twin, i’m gonna cry a river. even moreso if his determination is so strong that he still chooses dean over his kira-kira labu for alice. now if cybird really does pull that off, consider me IMPRESSED. HOT DAMN.

them aside, in general his relationship tree seems complicated... he has strained relationships with harr + zero + loki + oliver, though it seems that he and harr still can seem to hold ‘conversations’ with each other... lancelot + seth don’t like him... idk if he was already involved in the day everything went dark operation, but if he was then ray + fenrir would definitely knock him down... lmao that’s a lot of hostility there, and that’s as dalim. as dum, zero + ray + fenrir + oliver are still wary of him haha! well, i hope his interactions with the rest of the cast will fare better / some of those relationships may not be as strained as they seem???

and the romance... since dalim’s human experimentation is a step farther and darker than edgar’s history of murder, there is no way you are going to make me swallow the possibility that he could go down the same route and be pardoned by cradle through trial. or in any way going to be redeemed + forgiven / set free quickly. no, i won’t accept it either if amon does something similar to a claudius and suddenly decides to say that he pulled dalim along for the ride (rather, i’d be furious). ends i’ll accept are dalim himself demanding for or receiving proper judgement for his actions. the feelings between dalim and alice are there & acknowledged, sure, but sadly regardless of what ending they physically cannot be together.

too angsty??? maybe it is, since i personally feel that his situation has the potential to feel more... well, military/war-fitting than the other suitors. i’m not hoping for that scenario simply because i want that extreme angst + drama, but rather because it somehow doesn’t sit right with me that someone so goal-focused, someone who seems to have walked down the wrong path of his own volition, who stated himself that he isn’t human and won’t let ethics stand in his way (zero’s route), would allow himself to be easily forgiven for all that he had done. it’s like a disservice. believe me, i like redemption arcs. but for something severe like what dalim dabbled in for what seemed like years... redemption almost sounds too kind.

i hope whatever they have planned for dalim would appear reasonable and satisfying, both to how they will portray his character and to the plot of his route as a whole.

tl;dr: more magic tower info. his history with amon. tweedle twins drama, bless. more insight into his relationship tree. cybird, dalim/alice’s foe yay has potential, pls don’t mess it up.....

ANYWAY EEEEEE THANK YOU AND I’D BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO SHARE!!!! o(*≧□≦)o tbh this headcanon is me 100% refusing to accept that post-route!alice just stays in red/black army hq as a… uh, maid??? cook??? cheerleader??? idk lmao but imo alice has a lot of potential with her canon profession lolol! okay so maybe they did her justice in kyle’s route bc she ends up as his assistant but as for other routes fight me cybird (ง •̀_•́)ง

context side a

i got the idea after reading fenrir’s dramatic end, where alice gets a job in cradle’s best confectionery (like wow lmao if only getting a job was that fast irl). anyway!!! i’d like to dream that alice does this for all routes + a month after the route events (sans kyle’s). you’d think she doesn’t need to get a job especially if her ikeman’s part of the red army, but she does this bc she wants to. and to feel less like a freeloader lmao. since the situation’s different with the neutrals, this isn’t much of an issue.

so, yay! she feels better about passing time productively + having her own lin to spend but tbh she doesn’t really buy much stuff???? eventually she saves up quite the amount that it becomes a problem - what could/should she do with that much cash????

tbh the idea to start her own business came from her boss lol…. it started from his objective assessment that she was good enough to open her own shop… eventually she starts entertaining the idea…. then she gets second opinions from friends + ikeman…. and she actually does it after much consideration?!??! her boss is shook, but he wishes her well anyway! he gets a free slice of cake whenever he visits the cafe lol!

so alice ends up with a cafe! since confectioneries were more on selling than service + she’s on her own now & has a lot of stuff to handle on her own, she becomes pretty busy and takes some time to adjust, but eventually she gets by! it’s tiring, but she enjoys her every day!

any of her extra profits she chooses to donate to various causes + she eventually ends up becoming some sort of sponsor to the armies with all her donations HELLA RAD ೕ(•̀ᴗ•́)

context side b

alternatively, in a common route scenario where amon still gets his ass kicked + alice stays in cradle but doesn’t fall in love with that one ikeman (no one falls in love…. not yet LMAO), she lives with the black/red army + works in a confectionery until she has enough to buy a home of her own. blanc + oliver + mousse have been secretly helping her scout around for a good place. it’s only when everything’s ready that she talks to the black/red army about her intentions.

get this - her general explanation goes this way: she starts off by saying that she’s very thankful that everyone has accommodated her and she’ll always be in their debt, but now that she’s living as an actual resident of cradle and no longer just a guest, she’d hate to impose on them any further. to boot, she’s not even an official part of the army + a soldier, so it may look odd that she’s still staying within army hq. stuff about reputation and pride, something like that.

the black army (see: seth) is sad about this, but they understand her sentiments and let her go. after a three-day long party. aaaaand of course, they’re more than willing to do any heavy lifting for her move + just anything in general - all she needed to do was ask!

the red army respects her decision as well, and they’re… more subtle in expressing their disappointment (how is jonah’s blatant frown even subtle lol). like the black army, they let her go + remind her that she can always ask them for help.

so alice lives alone for a couple of months.... then the armies hear that she’s planning to open a cafe from blanc.... ha.... the black army totally helps her out with general recontrustion + repairs. she does not take no for an answer when she pays them for their work lmao. plus, they totally helped her out by giving her tours around the stalls on the central quarter market that give the best bargains + freshest produce! the flowers alice put up for decoration + plant outside her yard are always sponsored by canis major..... and seth drops by regularly to talk about trending aesthetics alice could adapt in the cafe!

the red army’s idea of helping her out with her cafe is to send her furniture + kitchen appliances + sets of tableware.... they’re gorgeous + simple but UMMMM????? alice literally panics about the kitchen, especially about the stove + oven bc it be so fine.... and expensive-looking.... but negotiating with lancelot + jonah is like talking to a brick + diamond wall so edgar + kyle + zero convince her to just take it lmao - it isn’t much, but lancelot gets a free drink & jonah a free mille-feuille each time they visit!

again: she donates to various causes + sends the black/red army a fair amount of her extra profits each month! she’d give more to the red army bc she still can’t get over their....... generous gifts and how much they probably cost lmao....... edgar stops her there though bc honestly..... do u think the red army needs more money??????????

the cafe

so why in central of all places? actually, it does make sense to set up a business there since it’s like the country’s central business district. but if i’d base it from alice’s general personality, i think she’d choose central bc that’s where every citizen of cradle; whether they be from red, black, or neutral territory, all gather together. in central, she can see every side living side cradle, not just red or black - and in a simple establishment like a cafe, something simple like food can bring all those different sides together.

she set up her cafe in central with the thought of helping in the efforts of bridging the gap between the armies + to have an actual experience of how it is to live as a citizen of cradle. technically she is one already, but sometimes living in cradle is really so different from living in london. it makes her feel displaced sometimes.

her cafe is probably somewhere close to blanc’s house or smth and u bet that blanc is very happy to have a pretty lady living close by/around his neighborhood lmao! but if you want to be serious about it, this is intentional on blanc’s part bc her safety isn’t exactly assured after the magic tower fiasco - disciple stragglers might come back for her, and since the whole of cradle already knows that she’s the alice the second, there may be other people/groups lurking around that are interested in her power......

in comparison to most cafes in central, alice’s place is relatively small - she doesn’t mind though, since she’s running the place on her own. the thought of expanding makes her doubt her capability of providing + distributing the same quality of service + attention she usually gives to a small crowd.

alice changes the cafe decors + scents according to each season!!! in general, she wants her cafe to have a homey, relaxing feel, doing her best to impart a feel of london + her hometown in her cafe. you’d think that seasonal redecorating would be a hassle, but magic makes that process very easy... once she learns about cradle’s unique holidays + festivals, she also redecorates + tweaks her menu in tune to the special day!

a variety of sandwiches + light meals such as pastas are on the menu now and then, but her cafe is well-known for the desserts. like the decor, the food + drink selection adjusts accordingly to the season.

her edge among her competitors is the fact that she’s from the land of reason - her techniques + use/handling of ingredients + and other assorted methods are quite different from that practiced in cradle since they have the advantage of magic. tastes, colors, textures, and even presentation end up differently. plus, she knows how to make various foods + sweets unfamiliar to cradle, so some of the stuff she makes are seen as novelty to the locals!

she does pay attention to what tastes of london are positively + negatively recepted in cradle though - from there she experiments or improvises her recipes, and seeks out feedback immediately.

following context side b, i’m all in for the romance with her ikeman developing here instead OH YEAAAH ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) it’s a lot more hectic tho since it’s an open playground and there are the.... common interferences..... coughsethcoughlokicough LMAO

also!!! following all the not-so-spoilery content of her + seth, i’ve recently been digging the idea of nojisha / rapunzel (localization ain’t being subtle anymore lol) working + possibly living in alice’s cafe too bc god knows that alice needs an actual girl friend among all that testosterone lmao!

rapunzel’s more of a waitress but is totally into designing whatever cakes + drinks + pastries alice has on the menu and on display… takes dibs in writing out the menu on the chalkboard as her chance to practice some pretty lettering… and also actively helps out alice in picking seasonal decors + packaging for the cafe!

on the sidelines rapunzel also keeps a close eye on alice bc… heh… them odd folks coming in for the foods but staying longer for the girl(s)… those red army officers dropping by more often even if they’re on patrol…. dudes from the civic center + other colorful characters talking so familiarly to alice…. yaaa~n! pick up the pace, onii-chan!!! lmao

depending on who’s the ikeman out for alice, rapunzel can and will cockblock, omfg...... she’ll totally stop if she sees that alice has mutual feelings for the guy but sometimes rapunzel really has impeccable, unintentional timing haha... seth hyde, what have u been teaching ur little sister smh (ಡ艸ಡ)

alice’s cafe develops different reputations depending on who she ends up with LMAO........ local newspapers + cradle’s grapevine love her cafe and totally not bc they can get a glimpse of the red/black army chosen if they get their timing right haHA..... here’s a couple of examples:

if she’s with mousse, her cafe has quite the interesting reputation! while there’s a good selection of the local teas/coffees in her menu, there’s also a fair share of exotic blends with brief details about the country where the blend is from + how the beverage is prepared + possible tastes, written by no other than mousse himself! sometimes alice showcases some limited edition sweets + pastries made from an interesting mix of local and foreign ingredients + spices too......

if she ends up with a king, novels/tales + plays + songs/poems about royalty/nobility falling for the common worker (lancelot) or adventures of a hero and a maiden (ray) suddenly become a thing™….. the boom is especially huge in black/red territory, be it from nobles to commoners.... another common point??? there’s always a cafe referenced in there, a rendezvous point some way or another in the story… and it sounds veeeeery familiar, even if they switch the setting into a tavern/inn, hmmmm....

did you know that one cafe in central quarter is owned by alice the second, the woman who’s rumored to be the lover of cradle’s most notorious criminal + strongest wizard???? no???? are they really a thing??? do you think the stuff she sells in her cafe is fit is for consumption???? does she make those cakes herself or does she ask the wizard to make it through dark magic or are those smuggled goods??????? man, those cakes are damn good though!!!!!

newspaper headlines: students of cradle’s local boarding school promptly create a literal lake of tears in the central quarter after spending time and meeting a kind cafe owner who happens to really be their terror professor’s lover (side note: this article was removed upon the request of a certain mr. d.)

the sole exemption i have for this hc is kyle’s alice! she has her hands full + committing herself to being a doctor’s assistant so opening a cafe doesn’t cross her mind, but that doesn’t stop her from making treats now and then for their patients… in fact, becomes a thing among the children of cradle that if you be a good boy/girl who takes their medicine + shots from the redhead doctor without complaining, the pretty assistant lady will give you a tasty treat for being so well-behaved! (*≧▽≦)

glad you liked it! (´∀`) it’s bc i had pancakes that day tho lol i like how u think anon but i’m way ahead of you huehue (ಡ艸ಡ) i’ve already thought about that scenario (more like i thought of pancake shaping lol) and since you specified someone, i now proudly present to you:

ray blackwell vs. pancakes - a three-stack tale!

he probably takes pancake 101 simply bc he’s curious and alice certainly doesn’t mind teaching him at all! she taught a few of her juniors in the confectionery before so she has a bit of confidence in her teaching!

“first of all, you start by not eating the batter!”

alice abruptly snatches the big round bowl containing the batter away from ray’s hands with an amused expression, he stares at her with a judging frown but eventually he shrugs and lets out a mumbled “… fine.”

alice is the type of teacher who demonstrates as she talks, and her instructions are actually simple enough to follow. she’s the also type to occasionally maintain eye contact and when she sneaks glances at ray, who’s standing a few paces behind her, he sorta looks like some stiff imposing bodyguard with his hands folded across his chest, eyes narrowed, and all attention set on the pan.

he looks like this whole pancake thing is s e r i o u s business and she tries to suppress a grin bc honestly its pretty cute to see???

“ray? you can move to get a closer look, you know.”

“nah. i can see from here just fine. aren’t you gonna flip that yet?”

alice demonstrates shaping thrice to make a stack and ray decides to have a shot at the fourth pancake - he takes the wooden spoon from her and says ready like he’s going to w a r, and takes all of alice’s effort to not spill too much batter on the pan bc her shoulders are sh a k i ng

mission start! ray does his best to mimic how he saw alice position the spoon on the center of the spilt batter, then start moving away from the center gently with the circular motion of her wrist.

brow furrowed in concentration and grip on the spoon not too tight, challenger ray blackwell is off to a good start, folks!

but wait! coach alice spots a p r o b l e m a few seconds in! and it is -

“ray?” she says gently, “careful not to spread the batter too thin.”

“…!”

pancake #4 ends up wide and thin, something near to a crepe. an oval-ish crepe. ray demands another attempt, alice complies with a smile.

out of reflex, alice leans over a bit and is about to reach out to guide ray’s hand, but he tells her that it’s fine before her hand reaches his wrist - respecting his determination, alice leans back and watches his efforts.

… pancake #5 was good at first but then ray became conscious about the shape of the edges, so eventually it ended up looking a bit odd.

pancake #6 ends up better! it’s a bit thick, but alice proudly flips it for him + puts the finished product onto the same plate where 4 & 5 were stacked, and she gives ray a thumbs up + congratulations!

“i’ll do better next time,” ray grumbles, glancing back and forth from his stack of pancakes, then to alice’s fluffy + uniform stack of pancakes.

alice laughs. she thinks it’s nice to hear that there would be a next time.

“i’ll look forward to it,” she grins brightly.

student score: 6/10! a good effort, king of spades! ( ᐛ )و

Jonah versus pancake??????????? Jonah versus pancake!!!!!!

there’s always the chipper mood around alice whenever she cooks??? jonah is puzzled - he’s done some cooking before, but never has he felt the need to grin like a loon while he’s at it????? what an odd girl!

one morning he drops by the kitchen to see alice cooking pancakes while being all smiles again and he’s h a d i t for some reason -

“is it the act of cooking itself that brings you to smile like that, or is it because you’re already imagining the prospect of eating the food?”

“hm… i’m not sure - maybe a little of both?” alice laughs, then she gestures to the pan. “do you want to try, jonah? eating the meal that you know you’ve cooked always adds a special flavor to your food!”

jonah isn’t buying that at all - they talk a little more about that, and it leads to ‘since alice insisted (she didn’t), the queen of hearts decides to allow her to teach him how to make pancakes’ - what a grand honor to bestow!

alice really doesn’t get it but oh well whatever they’re still cooking right?

come lesson proper, jonah responds to alice’s instructions by humming. she can tell that he’s paying close attention to the movement of her hand and she finds it to be very much like him, in a way. even more so when -

“alice - spread a little more to the right. the distribution is getting uneven.”

she says nothing in response because he already took hold of her wrist gently, and was guiding her to do exactly what he said. an amused smile creeps onto alice’s lips, making jonah go ( ಠ ಠ )

one demonstration is more than enough for the queen of hearts, and it’s mission start right away! jonah moves with such confidence that alice finds herself intently watching him this time! the slight furrow of his brow in concentration, golden eyes narrowed, a proper and steady posture, the fluid movements of his hand and wrist… what a picturesque sight!

the pancake comes out great and alice praises jonah for it! he’s all of course! who do you think i am? and at the same time, he’s unsatisfied by how the pancake looks so he sets off to make another, but…

alice urges him to taste the pancake first though, going as far as to shove a piece of it in his mouth, hot damn. jonah is s h o o k but -

“hm… this is delicious!”

“i know!” alice beams. “luka taught me his batter recipe! it’s so good!”

“you’re only telling me now that this is L U K A ‘ S recipe!??!?!?”

jonah then proceeds to make perfect pancakes out of the perfect batter and boy does he tell everyone who eats the stuff about it - it’s only right that such a heavenly recipe made by my one and only little brother should be cooked to perfection!

alice is very amused but more than that, it’s really nice to see the sheer warm smile on jonah’s face as he ate the pancakes - better yet, it was a real treat to be able to watch him enjoying himself as he cooked them.

“it really is delicious,” she muses to herself as she eats a pancake.
