It is a brood parasite that lays its eggs in the nests of other birds, which will provide parental care until the young Koel is ready to fly. The ASIAN KOEL (Eudynamys scolopaceus) Do you know the fruit that this bird eats? It is Muntingia calabura, commonly known as Singapore cherry. Kerukup Siam, buah kersen. The fruit is a tiny berry with hundreds of minute seeds. The seeds are so tiny that one cannot feel their presence while eating the fruit. The fruit contains juicy pulp which is sweet and with delectable falvour. The skin of the fruit is a bit leathery but is edible. The tree bears flowers and fruit almost all year round. The ripe fruit can be eaten whole and also can be used to make jam and jelly. Flowers and the leaves are supposed to have some medicinal uses. Calcium content of Singapore cherry fruit are 124.6 milligrams, far more than mangoes are only 15 milligrams. This is evidenced by a study written by Julia F Morton in her book entitled “Fruits of Warm Climates” in 1987. According to her, there are at least 12 types of compounds in Singapore cherry fruits. Traditionally, cherry fruit can be used to treat gout. The way is also very easy. Eating nine grain cherry fruit three times a day is proven to reduce pain caused by gout. There are several benefits that can be obtained from the fruit for our health. Although not a lot of research, but a lot of people who already believe and prove the efficacy of this tiny fruit. Here are some health benefits for the body and treating disease: 1. Reducing pain due to uric acid. 2. Overcoming diabetic. 3. Anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and Anti-tumor. 4.
