it rips through you, flashing behind your eyes and within your skull, and as the smell of smoke rises you know that there's no escape from this. this is how it ends - this is how you end. (if it and you will ever end.)

you watch, held in place by your own muscles that twitch and contort out of your control, as your skin chars and blackens and begins to fall away in pieces.

the heat rises from below in paralyzing waves, threatening to drag you away with it. something's melting, something's dripping like tears from what used to be your eyes.

despite the current still arcing through every part of your body and your skin sloughing off at the edges of where the metal touches it, you're still somehow able to scream.
