It's Halloween month again so that's my yearly cue to repost my Klarions!

That last one, I'm really proud of. It's my own version of Klarion that I made a few years ago. I wanted to really play up his "adventurer" side and had this backstory for him where he actually did die when he got burned at stake but came back (along with Teekl) as the Horigal.

The Horigal appears in both Seven Soldiers and in Klarion's very first appearance in The Demon (way back in the 70's). In both versions, the Horigal is referred to as some sort of judgment/punishment beast, so I thought it would be cool if he died then came back as that (I was very inspired by Enma Ai from Hell Girl) but didn't really remember it, and so went around exploring the many realms he never was allowed to see.

Some sketches of my The Hobbit OC's! They hijacked my brain around hm, 2021? And have been slowcooking ever since.

Took a while for some of these designs to get to me. I have a number of rejected ones in my sketchpad. Might still play around with the colors and designs, but I think this is the gist.

To briefly explain: The Hobbit but no one dies, also Fili and Kili (then later Tauriel) meet my OC's and go on what seems like a minor adventure before the plot thickens.

First there's Linnea, an apothecary from Laketown. Fili meets her when the Company stops over at Laketown (in this AU, they arrive like what 5 days before Durin's Day?). Turns out she's a spy for Mirkwood and knows how to make more than just medicine. Also she's like 100-something years old (her dad was an elf, but she appears human cus genetics), and she's really just so Done with Middle Earth.

Then there's the twin elves: Callonduin and Calarphain. Callonduin is the thrill-seeking, orc-hunting, life of the party. He was born and raised in Rivendell, which is a great place, yet despite that, he has a whole host of emotional problems.

Calarphain is a pacifist and a friend to all living things. He was born weak but Galadriel saved him and he's now her apprentice in Lothlorien (where he grew up). He's got some really powerful and really suspicious light-based magic.

The twins meet Fili and Kili the spring after the BotFA because their dad, a diplomat participating in peace talks, brought them along.

There's one more guy but his design is still a huge "?" to me (he'll turn up eventually).

Another doodle. Callonduin looks pissed off here cus I was listening to a video about the doom of the Elves, a topic that throughly depresses him.

Alright some info on Lucian!

You're probably looking at that part about killing his own Chirithy and going "what??" Well, let me explain!

When I first watched Back Cover, I looked at how MoM pit the Foretellers against one another and thought "this Keyblade War is so stupid, why did anyone participate in it? Didn't anyone think something was up and just walk out?"

And then I realized that when we look at stories, we tend to view them from a bird's eye view especially when we, the audience, know what's going on behind the scenes. I learned that when you place yourself in the shoes of the characters, suddenly the world is so big and you don't know anything.

So here's how Back Cover looked from Lucian's perspective:

He was an ordinary Keyblade wielder from Leopardos. He was sociable, athletic, loyal to his Union, and had a healthy competitive streak. He took great pride and enjoyment in being a Keyblade wielder.

During one raid, he met Lila and developed a crush on her, when he tried to talk to her, her friends shooed him away and told him to talk to someone from his own Union. Cus that's just how it was back then, there was no war, but Union rivalries were still a thing.

And then the Master of Masters disappears, leaving the Unicornis leader in charge. And then the Ursus leader is seen in public attacking the Anguis leader. And there's this whole scuffle between the leaders that ends with the Leopardos leader (his leader), going into hiding, likely last seen limping in the streets, likely last rumored to have almost been killed by the Ursus leader.

And you can just imagine the rumors and paranoia that were flying around at that time. "I heard there's a traitor among us" "I heard one of the Unions fell to darkness" "I heard Aced attacked Invi" "I heard Aced tried to kill Gula" "I heard Ava is recruiting from other Unions" "what's Ira doing about all of this?" "Has anyone seen Master Gula yet? Is he even alive?"

Then Gula resurfaces, instructs his Union members to hoard Lux, which prompts the other Unions to do the same. By the time the War takes place, tensions are so high Player has to break apart a fight in the Fountain Square.

Lucian, being very immersed in his Union, fell into much of the paranoia, hostility, and mistrust towards other Unions. You can bet he was one of those guys starting fights, especially when you consider it's likely very personal between the Leopardos and Ursus guys (considering Aced tried to kill Gula, and now Gula was hoarding Lux).

His fear reached a breaking point during the actual War when amidst all the death and violence, he decided to desert. He ran from the other Wielders who chased him and planned to hide out in one of the other Worlds, though his Chirithy tried to stop him.

And here's the thing about Chirithies. They come from the MoM don't they? They can appear anywhere and see anything, can't they? They very clearly know things Wielders don't. So can they be trusted?

Lucian wasn't thinking straight anymore, he wanted to be safe from all the darkness and death, so he slayed his own Chirithy, opened a portal to another world, and fled.

Except the Worlds were very different back then, and only appeared a certain way to the Wielders cus of the Book of Prophecies, and the Keyblade War was tearing it all apart. So Lucian, finding nothing, realized he had been living a lie and had nowhere to run.

At that moment, his Chirithy appeared, now as a Nightmare, having survived the blow. Corrupted with both grief and the darkness in Lucian's heart, his Nightmare Chirithy grabbed him and forcibly fused with him, then dragged him into the Realm of Sleep where he lived in anguish as a Nightmare for years.

Until one day he saw a faint light, one that felt familiar. He tore through the Realm of Sleep to reach it, ending up back in the waking world, in Bounty City, where he would wreak havoc until he was defeated by Lila.

Lucian and his Chirithy (now normal again) unfused and lay fading. Lila listened to their story and realized that there was so much sketchy things going on with the Union Leaders, that all those young Wielders (herself included) paid for. She previously refused to become a Keyblade Wielder again, but Lucian's death became the inciting incident that got her to take up her Keyblade and seek out the Foretellers-- for answers and vengeance.

Done with my design for Lucian, a keyblade wielder from Leopardos, and Lila's implied love interest! If Lila's KHUX-era keyblade is Stroke of Midnight, his is Darkgnaw, with physical strength being his main attribute.

It might not look like it anymore, but my initial reference from the game was the Captain Goofy outfit. It was the closest thing I could get, cus the vague image of him in my head was "warm colors, shoulder pauldron". The struggle was making him look different from the design I made for Cyrus (the blonde guy) from a Chrono Trigger AU I did.

Fun fact: his name is Lucian cus one time I was cleaning out my room and I found an old notebook with one page of an unfinished script featuring some character named Lucian and I was like "who??? who's Lucian?? I don't remember him at all!"

Well I guess now this is Lucian!

Posting a few artworks I did for Lila some time ago. These are all outfits from the game. Bianca, Athletic, Moogle Blue, and White Rabbit.

For the Bianca one, I mentioned before that Lila likes baking and giving gifts, so she's totally the type to make cookies and hot cocoa to share with her Chirithy.

As for Athletic, I imagined she'd look like this in a school uniform. I swapped the backpack and racket though for a championship belt and a gauntlet cus I wanted to imply fighting (like in a "rooftop fights" or perhaps "fighting game schoolgirl archetype" way).

Dressing up the keykids was really fun in khux, and I hope ML is the same!

Doodle page cus I wanted to practice drawing Ven and get a meme out. Tfw you have to kill your implied love interest cus he turned into a Nightmare.

Lila's Chirithy is supposed to reappear after 3 years of them being apart, but half-Nightmare now. I'm still mulling over how I want that to look.

Finally finished the first piece of art I made ever since my wrist got busted.

I'm finally getting better, it just took a lot of time,  and ngl, it's been really hard. But my keykid (and also LOTR) helped me through it bigtime, so it's only right I dedicate this to her. This here's the outfit she wears between khux era and her eventual back-to-keyblade era when she was staying in what I can describe as a fighting game-type world (original) with no magic or keyblades.

Also! Apparently it’s khocweek! Perfect timing! 

Her name's Lila, a Keyblade War-era wielder who got flung forward through time and space and ended up in a world (original) with lots of crime, fighting rings, and no magic.

She wants out of the Keyblade life but hey, someone’s gotta make the Foretellers pay!

Backstory Time!

Whenever I summarize Lila's story, I always say "character from an RPG goes to a fighting game and then back to an RPG". When I post art of her UX-era and post-timeskip selves, there's a noticeable shift in her demeanor and fighting style.

A lot of this shift happens in her backstory, where from Daybreak Town, she gets thrown forward across space and time to an original world: Bounty City.

Bounty City is very special to me because I made it when I was 12 and at the height of my geekery. It's significant now because it was initially a world I made for a KH fanstory, then I decided to make it a completely original thing, then years later I decided to bring its evolved form back to its roots to cross over with my current KH OC.

Some info about Bounty City! It's not actually important to her main story, but it's fundamental to her post-timeskip personality:

The Keyblade War did a number on her for sure, but part of her story is how trauma tends to hit us when we're already in a safe place (more on that next time)! A lot of Lila's changes during the timeskip happen while she's in Bounty City, and even though the world itself isn't plot-relevant once she leaves, it's hard to understand where she's coming from without knowing more about it.

As for her meeting with Ven, that's a story for another time!

Finished with this! It's Lila's Halloween Town design.

It's supposed to be a companion piece to the Christmas Town design from last year. She was a Christmas angel then and initially I wanted to go the "fallen angel" route for Halloween, so the initial concept looked more occult, but then I noticed the residents of Halloween Town are more classic like witches, vampires, skeletons, red-horned devils.

If you see my posts a lot, you probably know I got a hand injury this year. I think of all the things I wanted to draw, this is the piece I wanted to do, for closure purposes. The Christmas piece was one of the last ones I made before getting injured, and I wanted to see that idea through by completing the set.

It's crazy how at the end of last year I had so many concepts in my sketchbook and Plans to make Cool Stuff. I wanted to reach New Heights and work on Projects and be in Different Fandoms, but then I got screwed over in the hand department. I dunno about now, I'm way too tired to be ambitious, and too scared to hope. I have that frustrating desire to make stuff but the fire blows out quick in the face of everything.

For sure, even if I recover physically, I have some ways to go mentally. I've had to process a lot of things this year.

KHOCWEEK- Friends or Lovers

So one of the prompts in khocweek is “Friends or Lovers” which is fun cus Lila has one!

One what? Friend? Lover?

Bit of both, really-- she has an Implied Love Interest!

What this means is that she has someone who she seems to be interested in, and that person fills the spot a lover normally would in a story, but it’s never outright stated or shown that she’s romantically interested (and I’m keeping it that way!)

I’m still working on that design but yeah, this is more or less what I’m going for. I don’t have a name yet either so I kinda just refer to him as Leopardos Guy (since that was his Union).

She was in Anguis, he was in Leopardos. There was suddenly a huge Raid one time and a large number of wielders were called in to help. It was a pretty memorable event. 

Anyway, he noticed her during the battle and afterwards, when they were all celebrating at the Moogle Shop, he tried to talk to her. She got flustered but before she could properly respond, her friends shooed him away and told him to hit on someone from his own Union. They never get to talk again after that. The War happens, she survives as a Dandelion (then gets flung forward through time and space). As for him (NOT a Dandelion), it’s a long story, but his Chirithy turns Nightmare and forcibly fuses with him (cus Keyblade War paranoia caused him to freak out and slay his Chirithy; long story). 

He stays in the realm of sleep as a Nightmare for all those years until he senses a familiar light outside, which he follows. Turns out it’s Lila! And she recognizes him and the two of them fight and when he gets defeated, he separates from his Chirithy and they make amends before they both die. He dies in Lila’s arms. 

Lila up til this point, refused to return to the keyblade life. But this becomes her inciting incident. She realizes the War was sketchy af and the Foretellers were Up To Something (at least, that’s how she perceives it. She doesn’t know Back Cover), and now wants to hold someone accountable for the pain they all went through.

And that’s how her hunt for the Foretellers started!

Despite their bond, despite that he was enough to move her to rejoin the fight, despite that she was the light he followed, despite what they meant to each other, they were never a couple, and her feelings for him are never even confirmed. 

Maybe Lila could have really fallen for him, maybe they could have gotten to know each other better, maybe they could have been together (and I like to think in another life, they did), but we’ll never find out cus they never even got to explore that option; their lives were cut short.

We’ll never find out because of the Keyblade War.
