The epidote crystals are sharp and lustrous, in divergent groups. Some epidote crystals are partially included in the quartz. The quartz crystals are also sharp with good lustre, with minor patches of opal on them (fluorescent under UV light). Under magnification, one can see that the quartz crystals also contain colourless very fine hair-like crystals of byssolite (the variety of an amphibole species in the tremolite-actinolite-ferro-actinolite series – quite possibly tremolite but can’t be confirmed without analysis). Tourmaline Var Elbaite Paprok, Nuristan Province, Afghanistan 🇦🇫 ( founded September 2020) An unusual tourmaline, I would say! The reason is that pastel-colored tourmalines from here seldom have strong color depth, but this one does with Incredible colour zoning of 4 different colour ( pink , green , yellow and blue at the bottom ) truly a remarkable crystal in such perfection double terminated without any damage at all ! A strong colour that is NOT second-ran at all but rather just plain different than the normal Afghani style. Both the green and the pink are deeply coloured and unusual shades to find in combination with each other. It looks more like a popsicle than like a natural tourmaline, I admit. This crystal is also pristine, and complete all around as you can see here. It is 135 grams. The main crystal is 7 x 4cm There are gemmier, more deeply colored tourmalines out there...but this one just has a unique quality to it that makes it stand out for color impact and beauty, even among the crowd. Bastnaesite, also spelled Bastnäsite, a cerium fluoride carbonate, CeCO3(OH,F), found in contact metamorphic zones and pegmatites; cerium is commonly substituted by light rare earths, lanthanum, yttrium, and thorium. It ranges in colour from wax-yellow to reddish-brown. Bastnaesite is commonly associated with other rare-earth-bearing minerals such as allanite, cerite, and tysonite; it is often an alteration product of tysonite. Bastnaesite occurs in pegmatites near Pikes Peak, Colo. and with fluorite in Lincoln County, New Mexico; it is commercially mined at Mountain Pass, Calif but the most famous locality to produced bastnasite along with other rare earth minerals are here in mountain 🏔 of Zagi in Kpk .
