Decided to draw my and @offbrandorangedrink’s versions of Apupu/Poppy Soup together! I noticed we went very different directions both with our designs and interpretation of the character, and I thought that would be fun to explore! She’s one of my favorite characters that I’ve basically turned into an oc, and it makes me sooooooo happy to see someone else using her <3 I love that they leaned into an angle I forgot about, and I decided to accentuate that— leaning more into the ballerina aspect for mine and more into the waitress aspect i love to explore for offbrandorangedrink’s. I think it goes to show that however a character changes between canon and your own interpretation, it’s still a valid interpretation, and you’re allowed to have your fun.

The only thing we had in common were the hazel green eyes— we practically chose the same shade <3

I think Chackalatta may have disowned his children

We know Chackalatta Soup has at least two children who he has never mentioned to be his own children. We only know they’re his kids because THEY THEMSELVES HAD TO SAY IT. Also in both cases, it was CONFIRMED to be Chackalatta they were accusing to be their dad by literally Johnny Ghost.

The two children I’m talking about is Barnacle Boat from the puppet arc (Who I've named Emerson “Emmy” Soup) and Fredrick “The Spooker” Soup. (Not Apupu Soup, she’s Chackalatta’s granddaughter.)

To start, Spooker sounded like he was really close to his dad before joining PIE. It’s even common speculation that he got his trademark pink beanie from his dad. However, in his second appearance, we see Chackalatta burning down a kitchen (with people inside it) and Spooker claims that's his dad just checking on him. This is our first time seeing that the two may be related. Ghost confirms this is Chackalattabut after that we never see the two speak of each other or interact. Ever. This point is immediately dropped and forgotten and the two never mention each other again.

I think that time when Chackalatta came to check on Spooker was his way of finding out that his son joined PIE. Based on how they haven’t mentioned each other, I assume the two haven't talked since. 

Emmy on the other hand is a German police officer in a zombie-ridden environment. (Well she's a piece of the law enforcement on Hell’s island (which is German) but she's only there looking for her dad and brother) Out of the many npcs that appear up for jump scares on Hell's island, two are picked out from the bunch. Spooker and Chackalatta, they both appear momentarily, but in that time are identified by Ghost to be who Emmy says they are, and both of whom she claims is her brother and dad respectively. 

Then we never see her again. Whoops.

We know Chackalatta has a sketchy relationship with the police and PIE. PIE’s first case was given to them by Chackalatta but the PIE team is who originally banished Chacalatta to that pocket dimension with his kitchen and laundry room, and as for the police... The man is just super illegal in everything he does. He does not get along with the cops. His only kids are either a cop and a member of PIE.

In conclusion, while spooker and Emmy still love their dad, they’re basically dead to him for "betraying" him and joining with the opposing side. (I have another theory on Emmy but that’s for later) Remember how I suggested the pink beanie may have been a gift from Spooker’s dad? Spooker goes through a period of episodes where he keeps switching his hat color. Only reason he stops is because Ghost can’t recognize him without the pink one. I think Spooks finally tried to confront his dad, it went bad, and he tried to separate himself from that.

Apupu Soup

Possible design, may change a bit later. I used my Sally design as a reference because they use the same models so I wanna keep them similar-ish. I wanted to giver her a tutu since she wants to be a ballerina but because she works/lives at Chakalatas restaurant I wanted to keep her clothes still somewhat practical so I just gave her one of those skirt-legging combo things. Besides you don't really practice in full costume the entire time so I figured it made enough sense. I wanted to give her ballet flats ribbons but then they'd take too long to put on so I was thinking okay maybe bows then but I didn't like how they looked so plain it is. And because Sally's fav color is pink (I think, I could be wrong) I wanted to make Apupu's clothes more purple instead.

I completely understand why you asked! The wiki doesn’t really source anything, and even I can’t list a specific video for my claim of Chakalata being declared a chief. There are so many episodes it’s easy to get bogged down, so there’s a chance, however small, that Apupu was singled out and could be rep in a way that isn’t weird… or that the fandom invented it themselves, and even that would be important history.
